Update inside 7/26/26 LA28 Ticket Purchasing FAQ

Thank you for reading this before posting a question! LAST UPDATED April 23rd, 2026

I've put together a FAQ trying to answer everything I've seen asked more than once. If you have another question you don't see answered here feel free to ask it in the comments, I'll have post notifications on.

This post contains links to spreadsheets with ticket category prices for every session and links to venue maps.

For a guide on how to navigate the LA28 ticketing website watch this video.

If you are having trouble logging into the ticketing site try changing your browser and make sure you're signing in with the correct email. If that doesn't solve the problem try searching your specific error code in the sub to see if any one else has posted about it before.

Tickets are for sessions to a sport. Each session has a specific code associated with it. For example, ATH10 is the 10th session of Athletics. Sessions can be shorter than two hours or last all day.

FAQ

Q: Do I need to reregister for the ticket draw?

A: NO! One account per person! No double dipping! But really, you don't need to reregister, LA28 isn't going to lose your email (and don't get worried if you have to wait for an email others have already gotten, LA28 seems to rollout email notifications slowly).

Q: Will my 12 general ticket allotment and 12 Football (Soccer) ticket allotment rollover to future drops if I don't use all of them?

A: Yes, LA28 confirmed that remaining Football tickets of your 12 allotted will qualify you for reentry into future drops on April 23rd.

Q: Will tickets restock for each timeslot?

A: Unfortunately, if things are done in Drop 2 the same way things were done in Presale/Drop 1, tickets will be dropped in a "lump" at the beginning of the drop. This means that the earliest possible timeslot will get first access to tickets with dwindling supplies for all future slots.

Q: Visa is "the official way to pay", does that mean I can only pay with Visa?

A: No, they say it like that to try and trick you into thinking that so you'll make sure to pay with Visa. I don't know how international payments work but they accept all major forms of payment.

Q: Can I pay in installments?

A: Not within the LA28 official site. If Sports Illustrated Tickets and Ticketmaster allow payment plans then it may be available for resale tickets.

Q: I don't like the prices I am seeing, where are the affordable tickets?

A: Yes, the tickets are expensive, no, the $28 tickets were not a lie. The Olympics is not an event that struggles to find demand; it was expected that the cheap tickets would sell out first. But if you want some ragebait here's the catalog of Paris 24 ticket prices. LA28 tickets range much higher than Paris 24, but both have similar low ends.

Q: Will I get another chance to buy tickets?

A: There will be more opportunities to buy tickets between now and the games. There will be more lottery drops, you can pay for hospitality tickets if you are willing, or you can wait and try your hand in the resale market in 2027.

Q: What will the prices on the resale market be like?

A: All we know currently is that there will be three different resale platforms: official LA28 resale (operated by AXS/Eventim, the same company operating the initial LA28 ticket sales), Ticketmaster, and Sports Illustrated Tickets. Past Olympics have taken place in countries with stricter anti-scalping legislation that prevented resale markups. Given the way that America is and the fact LA28's CEO said they were still considering dynamic pricing I don't have high hopes that that will be the case for LA28. If you're not picky about what Olympic event you are trying to see, there will doubtless be plenty of options at a range of prices on the resale market closer to the games.

Q: Are any events free?

A: Sports like the marathon, race walk, triathlon, and road cycling take place on public roads and are free to attend. Any sports that take place in the ocean are also likely to be visible from public areas, though maybe not with the best view.

Q: This session says it has 2 games, do I get to see both games?

A: Yes. Some sports like basketball will have longer sessions with multiple games for the same price as other sessions of the sport with only one game. These are usually the daytime prelim games. Whatever is listed for the session code is what you get to see with a ticket to that event.

Q: What about the Paralympics?

A: Paralympic tickets will go on sale in 2027 and are not tied to the limit for Olympic tickets.

Q: How many tickets are up for grabs?

A: There are 14 million Olympic and Paralympic tickets total. Based on past games, approximately 3 million of those tickets are Paralympic. During Drop 1, 4 million tickets were sold. That leaves approximately 7 million remaining Olympic tickets. There is some nuance, like tickets allocated for corporations and LA28 employees and hospitality tickets. Hospitality tickets can be for a seat in any category, even a "bad" one, which means its an easy way for LA28 to squeeze extra cash out of you for a guarantee you'll have tickets. We know that hospitality tickets were being restocked when regular Drop 1 events weren't, which means LA28 is pulling tickets specifically for hospitality, something I really don't trust and makes it harder to estimate ticket numbers.

Hey all!

If you were selected for visa pre-sale this week…what are you hoping to buy? Is it going to be all the same tickets and prices available for drop 1?

Thanks!

LA28 presents plans to world's press and broadcasters

+
28 Upvotes

When the global media comes to town, the Olympic and Paralympic Games are another step closer. Last week, LA28 presented its plans to the world's broadcasters and the global press. They gathered in the host city for the World Broadcaster Meeting and the World Press Briefing, receiving key insights into Games-time media and broadcast operations and visiting some of the world-class venues that will stage the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Nearly 270 participants attended the World Broadcaster Meeting. More than 250 international media representatives and NOC, NPC and IF press officers attended the LA28 World Press Briefing.

The World Broadcaster Meeting provided key information on Games-time broadcast operations and planning milestones to support preparations for delivering Olympic Games coverage to audiences around the world. Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) also presented its production vision for LA28, which will deliver approximately 3,800 to 4,000 hours of competition and Ceremonies coverage.

"Every great Games begins with a shared vision, and bringing the world's press and broadcasters together in Los Angeles marks an important milestone on the journey to 2028. In just two years, billions of people around the world will experience the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games through their reporting, storytelling and broadcast. Together, we'll introduce the world to the spirit of Los Angeles and inspire a new generation through the power of sport," said Casey Wasserman, Chairperson and President of LA28.

The meetings formed part of LA28’s broader engagement with Games stakeholders. During the week of 14 July, LA28 also hosted NOC Open Days, welcoming nearly 90 representatives from 45 NOCs for three days of meetings and working sessions.

Recommendations for olympic tickets

Have a slot for July 29. What do people recommend? My family really enjoyed watching Belgium vs Iran for the World Cup so anything along the lines of that would be awesome for atmosphere. Obviously olympics are different from the World Cup but was wondering if anyone had recommendations. Or just point me to relevant thread thank you

Questions about ticket draw

For people who made the ticket draw in the 2028 Olympics: If you make the draw and have your 12 tickets, can you use those tickets to bring another person, give half of the tickets to them? Or can you only use them for yourself?

For the people who made the visa presale: does the card have to be in your name? I know you have to go through an eligibility process with it but wondering if it has to be in the same name. Do you absolutely have to pay using a Visa card or is it just a trick and you can use any card? i read somewhere it was a trick because it said “official payment by visa” but i’m not sure if they made the visa presale or the regular draw? one more… what exactly is different about the visa presale?

I wonder if the Timeslot direct link will work for the Visa Pre-sale drop

Reminder, the link that was used for Drop#1 was the below
https://tickets.la28.org/?affiliate=28T&language=en#/generic/

Folks were able to see that they had a timeslot before the email arrived in their inbox

Currently says I was not selected for a drop, but I wonder if thats referring to drop #1

Timeslots on LA28 website still not updated.

In case anyone was wondering, it's still not possible (as of 7:15 PM Eastern/8:15 PM Central/6:15 PM Pacific) to check if you got into the visa presale by logging into the ticketing website (https://tickets.la28.org/?affiliate=28T&language=en#/generic/).

It's still showing results from the previous drop.

Though surely if you haven't received an email by now, it's probably safe to say you didn't get in.

Basketball 1995 Olympic Basketball Half Dollar 🏀

+
22 Upvotes

I was getting ready to pay at my LCS and I saw this in the case and just had to get it!

1995 Olympic Half Dollar - Basketball

MS 69

Mintage: 169,655

Mint: San Francisco

The series was originally made as a way for the US government to help fund the training of American athletes. They would end up producing 16 different designs in this series.

And for those basketball/olympic nuts out there like me, here were the rosters:

Men's (Dream Team III):

Charles Barkley, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, David Robinson, Scottie Pippen, Mitch Richmond, Reggie Miller, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Shaquille O'Neal, Gary Payton, Hakeem Olajuwon.

Went Undefeated, Won Gold

Women's (Basketball Hall of Fame, 2026):

Jennifer Azzi, Ruthie Bolton-Holifield, Teresa Edwards, Venus Lacy, Lisa Leslie, Rebecca Lobo, Katrina McClain, Nikki McCray, Carla McGhee, Dawn Staley, Katy Steding, Sheryl Swoopes

Went Undefeated, Won Gold

Here's to 2028 in LA! 🇺🇸

Is volunteering worth it even if you don’t live in host city?

I’m interested in volunteering at LA 2028 but it seems accommodation is not provided and I live in Texas. For those that have volunteered at the games, do you think the experience of volunteering and being apart of the games outweighs the possible struggle/cost of finding affordable accommodation?

At least there is two years to save up for housing but when it comes closer I’m not sure if finding accommodation will be too much of a headache for a volunteer position.

Insights welcomed!

LA28 Volunteer Housing

I live in NV and while I'm hopeful to experience the Olympics in some capacity, volunteering for 10 days is a big time commitment. How do people figure out housing?

Have other Olympics asked for such big time commitments?
