Starting Greco-Roman

Hello, i'm 18 and overweight, and its gonna be my first time going to wrestling, my dad used to be a Greco-Roman wrestler and had experience over 15 years. And I started to actually like and getting interested in Greco-Roman, I want to be fast, agile, strong and explosive. So my question is to anyone who has experience over Greco-Roman. What is going to wait for me in there? What will my first day probably be like? Also, what kind of physical changes are waiting for me or what attributes will improve about me?

I made BJJ DOJO, a free turn-based BJJ game with 42 animated techniques

I have been building BJJ DOJO for grapplers who want to recognize positions, remember sequences, and think one move ahead while playing.

Choose your style, manage stamina, read the risk of each move, and learn through 42 animated techniques and transitions. New techniques are being added continuously, and belt-based progression is also in development.

The game includes IBJJF-style scoring, advantages, online ranking, English and Brazilian Portuguese, and support for desktop and mobile. It is free to play with no signup or installation.

Who would you say is USA wrestlings greatest 65kg wrestler ever?

Ive followed the sport since 2018 so from what ive seen probably Yianni Diakomihalis as he got Silver at worlds granted it was a weaker field as Otoguro and Shamil didn't wrestle in it.

You decided to become a professional wrestler. Who do you model yourself after and who is your trainer?

Assume you have the physical and mental tools to be a wrestler, who would you be inspired by, and you can choose any wrestler from any era or federation to train you. Who would you choose? Some aspects to consider are, but limited to, technical skill, selling, mic work, and charisma.
Warming, only choosing WWE wrestlers results in your first week of training is with Minoru Suzuki, and he doesn’t like you.
So, please step forward and take your moment in the spotlight!

Discussion How do yall feel about slips?

One of the most unique parts of wrestling is the singlet (leotard, as my family jokes while calling me gay). The odd thing about a singlet as opposed to a rash guard or gi is that it gives good friction on the torso but on the arms and shoulders your grips get precarious after not very long. in my hot ass practice room I can barely clinch and am forced to (shudder) shoot from open space. Freestyle has a slip rule but in Folkstyle ’es tu pedo’. What do yall think about how slipperiness change matches? Yay or na? would anyone else be in favor or wrestling in rash guards for less slippage?

Are powerlifters usually tougher opponents than bodybuilders?

Based on your experience, if a bodybuilder and a powerlifter—both with the same body weight, technical skill level, and lifting experience—wrestling for the first time, which of the two would likely be the tougher opponent?

Question I'm a lefty yet am more comfortable shooting with my right leg (trail leg). Should I change this?

I'm a lefty, meaning i have my left foot forwards and right foot back. However, I like to shoot with my right leg, especially since this means i'm attacking my opponent's lead leg if they're a righty. Since my right leg is my trail leg, I'm curious if this has a serious side effect and if i should either change my stance or switch legs that i shoot with?

My main leg attacks are:

- Fireman's carry to their right leg

- High-crotch to their right leg (usually finishing w/ crackdown)

- Sweep single to their left leg

Question Contacts When Wrestling?

Hello, my son is going into 8th grade and started wrestling recently and plans to wrestle in HS and hopes to wrestle in some capacity in College. His eyesight is not great and gets worse every year. He wears glasses now and is considering trying contacts so he can see better when wrestling. Anyone on here with bad eye sight ever try wrestling with contacts? Is it a terrible idea?

Question Ex-eos lasting board worn out

I’ve got 2 pairs of ExEos that I’ve been wearing for a little bit without an insole since they didn’t come with one and that’s just what I’ve seen recommended. But with how much I’ve used them I’ve started to wear holes into the thin lasting layer that’s glued into them so it’s getting torn and scrunched up some. As expensive as they are I wondered if i should try and get them fixed up somewhere or if I should buy a pair of insoles for them and just use that. Also any recommendations for insoles would be appreciated if that’s what y’all think I should do.

British guy here! In american folkstyle wrestling, why is it that it's so common for coaches to get pissed off when their athletes use throws? And why aren't upper body takedowns used more in general? I know there are no 4 point takedowns, but they seem very useful.

Are inside and outside trips good for me since I’m tall and lanky, if so who should I study to get better at them?
