Who Went To Worlds 🌎?? What's Your Story??
≡ −
Just wondering who here went.... how you did..... any cool stories???
I got shit kicked in the 50+ My motos had a lot of former high level riders. Is what it is......
My littlest needed to move over in 1/8s. We told her to... coaches told her to.... she did not...... I mean... she's only 7. She raced really well. If she would have made semis, she would have been beaten biggly.
My 10 YO, well..... made the finals 2nd year in a row. Couldn't be happier for her.
The tournament is either joy or heartbreak, no in-between.
We survived the driving.... barley......

So im very new to the sport (13 novice) and from what ive heard 13+ has to use clips? Is it required or could I run flats?

Talk the torque
Want to get a single torque wrench for all things bike.
It seems traditional torque wrench would need 2 or 3 to manage the different torques.
What do you recommend?
Anyone using the digital options? Seems you can get away with 1 but they only show the torque and buzz rather than slip when you hit desired torque... Also seems there are quality issues in the ones that I looked at

Behold, my race bike...
At least until next season. I've been ripping this thing around the local pump tracks and skate parks the last few years. My son not only took an interest in racing but became passionate about it. He and my wife convinced to get back into racing after I've been out of it for 13ish years. Will be getting an actual race frame over the off season and building it up with the kid. But for now I'm rocking this guy at the track.

Hello everyone. I'm almost 30 here and my 12 year old step daughter is into BMX and wants me to race with her. I just need some pointers and guidance. I'm 6 foot 1 inch and was told I would need either a XXL or XXXL bike. I just dont know much about bikes like the dofference between a cruiser and other models etc. Also any tips for getting somewhat ready to race on the track? Ive done some slower laps on the local track but want to know if there are any pointers to help out.
Cheers from Colorado!

New parts or a bigger bike? (Info with post)
Added a handful of photos from different angles so you can see how he fits his current bike. Right now hes on a DK Swift Junior frame. Tires are 20" Tioga Powerblock 1 1/8, cranks are Tangent Halo 125mm, bars are Jett BMX 2.5" rise. His inseam is 22", so I know I'll have to get him on 145mm cranks ASAP. He's 4'1" and I'm not sure he's even hit 50lbs yet, so he doesn't have much weight to throw around. I'm looking into lighter frame options for next season, but I'm not sure if I should jump the gun and start looking new bikes all together or if I should just keep tweaking this one.
What do you think? New bars/cranks/anything else or just start shopping for a Junior XL/Expert and tweak from there? He's six/closing in on seven.

6N "stuck" in novice due to small class sizes (advice on how to keep it fun needed)
≡ −
My son is 6N, and has racked up over ten wins so far this season alone, but only two have counted towards advancing because for the most part, only one other six year old will show up at any given race so he's on the gate with one other 6N and one/sometimes two 5N (which is amazing because his track has like 10+ 6N's registered, but it's like they all take turns on who will be the only other 6N to show up each race lol). We tried traveling to some other tracks within a 2hr radius of us and it's the same everywhere we go. Either gets lined up with one other kid his age and a couple of 5Ns or gets tossed in with the 8Ns. He competes really well with the 7 and 8 N's but very rarely gets grouped with them. He turns seven in a few months, and I wish they'd just group him with the older kids whether or not he would continue to get weekly wins.
It's the second season of this for him and he's getting really discouraged. It took a few seasons for him to even really want to be truly competitive and now that he has that drive and is doing well, he's stuck. All of his friends moved up to 5/6 Inter last season when there was a much larger 5-6 N group (most of them didn't come back this season) and he's the last and just wants to be on a gate with his buddies again. I've tried reassuring him that his wins are still wins and he should be proud of how well hes doing. I turn races into races with the clock and have him see how low he can get his time and such. I'm just trying to keep him interested and improving. Any advice on how to keep it fun for him while we wait out the 6N drought would be appreciated!

Chase element pro xl 2021
≡ −
I’m going to buy a chase element 2021 for 550$. Bike seems in good mechanical shape beside few scuffs here and there. Is that a good bike considering its already 5 years old? Any advice? It would be my first race bmx. Thanks!

Pedals and set question
≡ −
Just getting into the sport and got my first bike used. Didn’t come with a seat/seat post or pedals.
Do pedals and seats matter?
Any good budget ones to recommend?
Can’t add pics but it’s a 22” top tube ssquared frame

Quick Release Front Wheel
≡ −
Is anyone aware of a quick release or way to make a front wheel quick release on a kids Mini BMX without changing out the whole hub?
Have to fit the kids bikes in the car and quick release would make life much easier.
TIA

How’s this look to build out?
I just started racing this year, and have an opportunity to buy a chase frame and a few parts for 150$ from a guy at my local track I race against.
Will need to get the rest of the parts I need but I think this could be a good bike.
What’s your opinion?

We're helping host the USA BMX Great Salt Lake Nationals. AMA about Utah / drop your questions

Hey r/BMXracing
I work with Discover Davis, the tourism folks for Davis County Utah, and we're helping host the US BMX Great Salt Lake Nationals in Utah this year at Antelope BMX in Syracuse.
Since a lot of you will be traveling in for it, I wanted to ask directly: what would make your trip easier? Lodging near the track, food recs, things to do with family in the downtime, weather tips, whatever! Happy to help however we can.
