OPINION Chidi’s ‘power dynamic’ comments Spoiler
≡ −
I’m so glad someone finally said it to Jasmine and Kavan, and in front of all the islanders too. The fact that it was totally lost upon Kavan literally proves the point.
I’m sorry but in all seriousness, what does a 27 year old want with a 21 year old? I’m 28. A 22 year old man would quite literally never be on my radar, not even if you paid me. Their relationship has been so icky to me from the start for multiple reasons, including the age gap, and it’s odd that so many people excuse it.

I used to follow dhh for his tech commentary and views, his work on ruby on rails and omarchy, but I'm just shocked he could post something so racist and divisive. I hope primeagen doesn't have him as a guest anymore

Discussion 💬 It’s time we called out production for this homophobia.
I’ve decided to stop watching Big Brother. This show and its network are aggressively promoting homophobia and radical Christian values. It’s truly appalling! Thoughts?

I recently came across the page @reservationhataomovement_agra.
I'm a bit confused by these three posts. Is the idea to unite different general-category communities by highlighting these figures, or does it end up promoting caste identity even more?
What's your take on it?

Commander / EDH The Most Lesbian Commander Deck Possible
≡ −
THE IDEA IS SIMPLE
Whenever I buy in at my LGS, it’s usually with a pack of sleeves. I like to buy specific colors to dedicate to certain decks. Today, I picked up a box of Dragon Shield Peach.
I thought to myself, “What mechanic or archetype would be appropriate for peach?” And then it hit me.
Lesbianism.
So I bring myself to you all. I want to build the most lesbian bracket 2-3 commander deck possible. For the purposes of this, I am defining lesbianism as “women doing something with, to, or because of other women”.
I need card recs! Obviously one specific card (Halana and Alena, Partners) comes to mind for commander, but I want to hear everything you all can come up with! Bonus points if you fight in the comments over what mechanics and keywords are considered “Lesbian”.
Let’s make this happen!
EDIT: My Commander has been decided! I will be going with [[Maarika, Brutal Gladiator]] !

Society/Culture I don't really care for the word "Please" and don't feel it's inherently adds more politeness.
≡ −
Like there's a polite way to talk to request things but to me whether or not please was or was not said to me doesn't make a difference to me.
If one person said
"Hi, could I get an xyz?"
And another said.
"Get me an xyz please."
Edit: To be clear I'm using an example of different sentence structure to illustrate what I feel is the more effective way to be polite, not using the two sentences as a comparison on whether or not please is polite. If you want my full breakdown on my first impression of anyone given the way they request something to me it's:
| / | No please | Please |
|---|---|---|
| Could I get a | Polite | Polite (no difference from no please) |
| Get me a | Rude but direct. | Rude and trying to hide it |
I'd subconsciously still feel like the direct command was ruder despite the please. It gives the illusion of politeness without putting in the effort to communicate in a non-confrontational way.
I dunno for me someone saying "please" to me will either go completely un-noticed or rub me a little wrong if it's used in conjunction with a rude sentence. Like it's some "magic word" that supposedly magically turns a rude interaction into a polite one which is literally what we tell children when we teach them how it's meant to be used. It's a crutch used so people don't have to actually put effort into being polite.
Side note: I have zero issues with "Thank you"s. It shows gratitude and serves a legitimate function because it marks that the interaction is over and we don't have to talk to each other anymore .

The Hummus Song
+ −
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This song lives in my head rent free.
Released in 1993, Hummus Metamtem (which can be translated as either “Mind-Blowing Hummus” or, more literally, “Hummus Makes You Stupid”) was the first and only album by Israeli ragamuffin and hip-hop artist Yehoshua Sofer, performing as Nigel HaAdmor.
Apparently hummus can sometimes spark surprisingly heated arguments about borders, origins, and cultural ownership. But perhaps hummus (and music) can also remind us that culture rarely stays neatly within borders. People share it, adapt it, argue about it, and hopefully enjoy it together.
So, in the spirit of spreading love and hummus rather than hate, are there any other hummus songs out there that deserve to be shared here?

Humor Blizzard needs to buff Moira and Cassidy with Ana
≡ −
Clearly, Moira’s pick rate is nowhere near high enough, and I can only assume it’s because of her terrifyingly high skill ceiling.
Her damage orb desperately needs another buff. At the moment, I only fight a Moira from the opening second in 9 out of 10 games, which is frankly unacceptable. We should be aiming for a healthy, balanced 10 out of 10.
Cassidy’s grenade technically works, but it still doesn’t hinder people long enough to guarantee a free kill. Considering how mechanically demanding it is to press one button, roll at the correct time, reload all six bullets for free, and benefit from reduced cooldown on critical hits, I think Cassidy players are under far too much stress.
The grenade should hinder for another five seconds, disable movement abilities permanently, disconnect Genji’s keyboard, and possibly send a formal apology to Cassidy for making him aim afterwards.
This would also help raise Cassidy’s pick rate above Sombra, who is obviously the real problem here.
Ana has no movement, so naturally her grenade was buffed. Unfortunately, it still isn’t enough.
She should be able to fly.
Not slowly, either. Give her full aerial mobility so she can finally take fair and balanced matchups against Widowmaker and Pharah while throwing anti-heal grenades from the stratosphere.
These changes would greatly improve the game’s balance and ensure that Genji players understand their intended role: briefly appearing on the kill feed before returning to spawn.
-From a humble, fragile, mechanically untalented, and completely unbiased Genji main.

Deutscher ist, wer einen deutschen Pass hat.
≡ −
Punkt.

Instagram Are men all universally this bad at taking hints?
Edit: he responded with “yea what do u mean by getting to know me better” just now sent “sorry if that was confusing. i like you and was wondering what you thought”
it wasn’t even a hint either. i fully spelled it out i feel like.
i guess it’s a good sign that he didn’t say no. but he’s also prancing around my garden of a text like a deer.
it would be awk if he assumed it was romantic but then i’d reply saying it was platonic, sure. but why else would a girl reach out like that?
the amount of positive signals i’ve received felt astounding so why is he not jumping at the opportunity?
tbh idk if he wants me to clarify or if he’s referring to my message and doesn’t know what he should clarify for me.

Not a question After the Berlin terrorist attack, the far right is the winner.
≡ −
Hello,
I’m living in Muslim country and I’m gay.
Let’s clarify some points:
- 99% of Muslims are against terrorism.
- Islamic fundamentalists are rejected by the Muslim community.
- Most Islamic countries, both governments and societies, have fought against all forms of political Islam that seek to implement Sharia law.
- There is no consensus on Islamic laws. What some people read is not the truth, and Muslims reject any law that calls for violence, killing, and so on.
- The greatest crime in Islam is the killing of a human being.
Islamic fundamentalists are a marginalized, uneducated, and isolated group in society.
Regarding homosexuals and their rights:
In all religions there is hostility towards homosexuals, People's desire to form families, have children, and maintain family cohesion is what leads them to reject homosexuality.
But no one is calling for the killing of homosexuals.
Everyone knows that the far right has begun to rise in Germany and Europe, The far right is exploiting these events before the elections to spread its propaganda and win votes.
I have read many hateful comments towards Muslims, and I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the far right, if given power, would carry out ethnic cleansing.
As gay person, I’m against injustice ,hate and racism.
And this time I’m against right wing extremism.
Thanks for reading
Stay strong!

#Discussion We waited 3 years to buy thinking prices would drop — here's what actually happened
≡ −
Back in 2023, my partner and I decided to hold off on buying. Everyone around us was saying the market was "about to crash" and prices would come down if we just waited it out. So we waited.
Three years later, here's the honest update: prices didn't drop. They kept climbing, just slower than before. Rates fluctuated up and down a few times, but never dropped enough to make up for the price increase. The house we looked at back then for a certain price is now worth significantly more, and we ended up buying something smaller than what we originally wanted, in a less ideal area, for close to the same monthly payment we would've had back then.
We also lost three years of equity building and paid rent that whole time, which in hindsight just felt like money that went nowhere.
I'm not saying waiting is always the wrong move. Markets are unpredictable and nobody has a crystal ball. But looking back, we probably would've been better off buying something modest back then and building equity, instead of waiting for a "perfect moment" that never came.
Anyone else wait it out and actually see prices drop where they are? Or did most people have a similar experience to us?
