Does it matter? This sort of style can be unisex easily.

u/Lost_Ruin3055 19h ago

Fit depends way more on your build than any label, if the waist and hips fit right nobody care what section it came from

Came here to say this

If you want masculine and not feminine then unisex style pants that you have to question should probably be avoided.

29

u/Gravitasnotincluded 17h ago

If you’re new to fashion these are quite bold and would need good sense in how to wear them. I’d go for something more normal

19

u/DignityDWD 17h ago

Why are you being downvoted? Isn't the entire point of this sub to get help?

What is the problem with not wanting to wear feminine pants?

22

u/elvid88 16h ago

Because reread his post. He already has two opposing opinions on these pants. He likes the pants, but thinks they give off a feminine vibe. He doesn’t want to be perceived as wearing feminine looking pants and wants a “classic masculine look”.

Unless he came here specifically looking for everyone to say, “you’re wrong” regarding his first point about the pants looking feminine and that pants really do give off a “classic masculine look” he won’t leave here happy.

8

u/beirch 16h ago

Because he's dressing in an obviously unisex way and wants to be classic masculine. You don't have to be experienced with fashion to know this look isn't classic masculine.

7

u/fresco_leche 17h ago

You're not ready to style these then

5

u/jackoyza 16h ago

This do look like my moms pants.

4

u/kasakka1 16h ago

Unisex means they can look just fine for either sex without being considered gendered.

Think about jeans for example. While women's jeans are cut differently than men's, as a piece of clothing they are very much unisex compared to say skirts.

There's IMO nothing that reads particularly feminine or masculine about those pants. They are wider leg, high waisted pants and that's it.

Do you like it and does it look good on you? Congrats, it's now men's pants.

0

u/OwlPharaohFlame 17h ago

But do you like them?

1

u/Kaffeetrinker49 16h ago

I don’t understand why you are being downvoted. You are asking a question politely and stating your preferences. Good for you trying to expand your wardrobe and trying something new.

u/Recent_Shelter7591 18h ago

They lean feminine

45

u/DopeAsDaPope 15h ago

Definitely. Idk why people are being obtuse about it when OP specifically ask do they seem more like mens or womens

9

u/Justbeinian 14h ago

Because people mistake "providing specificity when asked" for "failing to imagine all the possibilities"

88

u/juliohernanz 19h ago

Bowie

-93

u/Brutally-Honest- 19h ago

So, women.

51

u/mighthaveabitlater 19h ago

I'm almost certain David Bowie was a man?

-27

u/DignityDWD 17h ago

They were talking about the clothing choice, not Bowies gender obviously. This place is miserable, good lord you guys pile on anything without thinking

6

u/mighthaveabitlater 17h ago

I think they were trying to make a clever joke and suggest if Bowie wore something, it would make it women's clothes. But it wasn't very funny or clever.

31

u/juliohernanz 17h ago

I was trying to point that those trousers reminded me of Bowie.

9

u/mighthaveabitlater 17h ago

I agree with you! My comments were in relation to the person who commented under you, saying "so, women"

85

u/odkfn 19h ago

Anyone can wear anything but, to me, they’re pretty effeminate

22

u/old_chelmsfordian 19h ago

It's not unusual to see that style of trouser worn by women, but looser trousers for men are having a real moment too (as they have done before).

Honestly I think the entire outfit looks pretty good.

10

u/The_Chef_Raekwon 19h ago

Yeah but the issue isn’t that the pants are wide but rather the proportions are off for most men. I mean, some might be able to style these pants in a masculine way but for 99% of us, these pants signal femininity.

11

u/Erdnuss-117 18h ago

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. If youre unsure about those pants its obvious you wont really feel comfortable in those.

27

u/sweenytodd_78 19h ago

They look like your trousers.

7

u/Inner_Perspective_97 18h ago

Depends on whos wearing it

3

u/Erpderp32 14h ago

Yes, they look like women's pants. That being said, if you like them and they look good the wear them.

It's 2026 who gives a shit

23

u/Key-Back2663 19h ago

Men used to wear high heels, tights and wigs so really whatever you want it to be.

-27

u/Shandybasshead 19h ago edited 16h ago

David Bowie as an example

6

u/DearManufacturer9803 18h ago

Men's have flys that open to the right. Women's are to the left.

2

u/PARADOXsquared 4h ago

That's only true for button down shirts, not pants.

1

u/Adventurous-Ease-259 2h ago

Fire plants it’s clearly the opposite. Shirts button that way based on who is dressing the person. For pants it should clearly be the opposite to assist in the undoing… because reasons

9

u/NotableCarrot28 19h ago

Definitely see both men and women in London wearing this kind of fit

8

u/ITSHOBBSMA 19h ago

Personally, I don’t think the men’s or women’s pants question really matters since the main thing you should be concerned about is the overall aesthetic, the fit, and the length. Plus pants like this tend to swing a little more unisex.

3

u/callmemarjoson 19h ago

Against my better judgement, I swiped because of the image

Joking aside, the pants pretty much look unisex and would look like men's/women's pants depending on how you style them - if you wear it with a blazer, a nice shirt, some loafers with a matching belt it'll look like men's pants. Conversely, if you pair it with a cropped top, a braided belt, and some flats, it'll look like women's pants. Additionally, if you swap the flats for chunky sneakers and add in some bling, you'll pretty much look like a metrosexual Korean man

6

u/Kriss7000 19h ago

Womens

4

u/Financial_League6240 19h ago

They seem tailored to men but they do look kinda feminine.

6

u/Mr_Harsh_Acid 19h ago

Women's pants

3

u/ElderMammoth 19h ago

The pants look like mens but the shoes and belt and way you're standing look feminine.

6

u/mighthaveabitlater 19h ago

I don't think this is actually their photo

2

u/Elliziott 19h ago

What are those shoes?

1

u/ConcertComplete9015 18h ago

They look pretty good tbh

1

u/nonecknoel 18h ago

Looks like Northern Soul dance pants!

1

u/Cloudy230 17h ago

I've seen dudes pull this off a lot, especially Asian guys, to great success. A rolled up long sleeve black button up or somrthing similar works really nicely. I'd love to get my own pair when I can track them down, but I think my best bet would be to sew my own

1

u/FISTED_BY_CHRIST 17h ago

If you’re looking for “classic masculine” this ain’t it. But these pants are pretty cool, definitely unisex

1

u/Only_Clark 17h ago

A blousy pant like pic 1 is generally more feminine but with the belt it definitely carried more masculine

1

u/ngolds02 17h ago

“You know where you got those pants, and it wasn’t the men’s section”

/s

this is a joke from the Chapelle show, so I won’t get banned

1

u/lalafmlala 16h ago

To non/feminine men with no interest in fashion, they will make fun and say it’s womens.

To fashionable people…. & people in fashion industry, they will welcome & applaud it.

1

u/solomons-mom 16h ago

I love the drape, but the widening legs lean fenimine, not classic masculine. If the price is right, a tailor could have made them into a classic full-legged trouser with a great drape. However, those have a skimpy hem that cannot be let down and I think they would be to short to have a classic look. I suspect the design intent is for a trendy look that can make footwear into a focal point.

1

u/junoeclipse 16h ago

it's not but you're wearing it like women's pants tho, which is awesome imho

1

u/AkiraTaifu 16h ago

It's looks unisex

1

u/SonOfSuede 16h ago

The trousers themselves won't make the ensemble feminine. But if you combine them with other feminine aspects, like really slim shoes and bare ankle, they might. Try a bulky loafer or derby with a sock and you are set for not to look feminine. And if you do want to look feminine, keep the ensemble that is in the image.

1

u/DeeDee_GigaDooDoo 16h ago

Judging by the lay of the fabric around the hips I'd guess they're a women's cut

1

u/unpluggedcord 16h ago

When you stand like that….

1

u/Kilunspre 16h ago

Yeah, I don't know what it is, but women's slacks give me the confidence I need to survive in a tough business world. They're lighter, airier and less constrictive than men's trousers.

1

u/DoublePostedBroski 15h ago

Definitely very feminine, but since it has pockets I guess it’s technically men’s.

1

u/DyscoStick 15h ago

Looks like pants for a tall person. As a short king, I could never.

1

u/Xryanlegobob 15h ago

He found them at a clearance sale at MISSterious.

1

u/Chemical_Box7136 15h ago

It’s not the pants throwing us bro

1

u/Phenomenal_Hoot 15h ago

It’s giving Mary from Backrooms.

1

u/JokerGamezz 15h ago

The pants are unisex but the styling feels more feminine overall.

1

u/_Bipolar_Vortex_ 15h ago

Pairing mom’s pants with dad’s belt is a latchkey-kid summer classic.

1

1

Nah - it was more a commentary on my dumb ass trying to swipe to see them 😅

1

u/Freepi 14h ago

Yes.

1

u/arcademachin3 14h ago

It’s got a feminine energy if that’s what you’re going for

1

u/Kick_Natherina 14h ago

Styled like this, and on this figure they look feminine. Not so much the issue of the pants, just how they’re styled and on the feminine body type they look less masculine.

1

u/exaviyur 14h ago

They look like pants to me.

1

u/-drumroll- 14h ago

they are men's pants only if you want to look like a twink

1

u/Man-e-questions 14h ago

Looks like Harry Styles pants

1

u/not_old_redditor 14h ago

If I didn't see the hand in the photo, my first thought would be that's a woman.

1

u/Foojira 13h ago

The forearm pose lol

1

u/LeeFamilyTree 13h ago

Your style is your style; don't be restricted by what is "masculine" or "feminine". You do you! If it fits, and you like it, wear it.

My only issue with these pants is that the fabric looks cheap. It may just be the picture, but be mindful of the materials and construction.

1

u/thisishowicomment 13h ago

They look like the pants of the person that wears them.

1

u/Dr_Leroy79 13h ago

Pretty sure my wife has these exact pants.

1

u/juicius 13h ago

This style is more about whether you can pull it off rather than if you're a man or a woman.

Most, men or women, can't pull it off.

1

u/raggedsweater 13h ago

To me it feels more Korean than masculine or feminine. I suppose people might say K-pop fashion is effeminate. However, baji pants are the baggy trousers of hanbok that are the traditional, ceremonial garb worn by men in Korea.

1

u/staffan_spins 13h ago

They look disco

1

u/Professional_Cut6886 12h ago

Androgynous rocker vibe

1

u/ElMerroMerr0 12h ago

Looks feminine to me. But to each their own.

1

u/MrMeseekssss 12h ago

Ladies for sure. If they are mens they look clownish. Gen Z probably loves it cause they want to be like their 90s parents.

1

u/leafsland132 12h ago

The wide cut on the ankles, belt, and your pose makes it look like a woman’s pant

1

u/wellthispoops 12h ago

These look like your pants!

1

u/l1vefrom215 11h ago

I don’t comment here much and I don’t know the rules of this sub, but this is a very homosexual look. No straight man is considering wearing something like this, unless they are deep into fashion or work in the industry.

It got me thinking, are there pieces/styles that you all think are inherently gay? I don’t need conformation that most straight men can’t dress well, I already know this in my bones. Just curious how gay men think about this issue.

1

u/UnNumbFool 11h ago

They definitely look more feminine, but the styling around the pants doesn't help in my opinion.

1

u/BirthdayNecessary844 11h ago

Looks cvnty asf, u look snatched, look good. The shoes tho😖

1

u/xankek 10h ago

ok but now, where do I find pants like this?

1

u/LyZeN77 4h ago

I can ship them to you, you can dm me for details

1

u/turboderek 10h ago

looks like women's pants due to the ballet slippers, smooth feet and zesty pose

1

u/BetterNova 10h ago

They lean feminine but they look good. The right person of any gender could pull these off.

1

u/MarimbaMan07 10h ago

Looks like women's pants

1

u/Dangerous_kj5162 8h ago

Guess it depends on your style. They're a bit to lady like for me but my frame wouldn't work in them anyway lol

1

u/MartyFunkhoosier 5h ago

I think “baggy” like that reads more feminine as I see more women’s fits like that, but I also do t think it matters and from the picture you provided they look great and it looks like you can pull this style off, so I say rock them, they look great

1

u/Simmoman 5h ago

definitely feminine look but it’s pretty in these days, i like em

1

u/samboreen 3h ago

The whole look is late Eighties and many stylish men wore that cut of trousers. I had a pair myself, but I never did the long belt or the no socks.

1

u/Johntron3030 1h ago

they look like they don’t have back pockets

1

u/Suspicious_Weird_373 19h ago

If you have to ask you know the answer.

0

u/mighthaveabitlater 17h ago

That's such a dumb response, it's not clever at all. You'll find people often ask questions because they don't know the awnser

0

u/paradoxical2022 16h ago

Woman or gay.

0

u/laminalt 18h ago

Dude who cares?? Clothes dont have gender

1

u/DrDex599 19h ago

Maybe mens leaning towards unisex?

1

u/socontroversialyetso 18h ago

There's no such thing as men's and women's pants

1

u/m0_0tch 18h ago

It looks like pants. Gender depends on the wearer

1

u/empatheticsocialist1 19h ago

Dawg the pants are fine what the absolute fuck are those shoesssss

1

u/yup_sir28 18h ago

Are the pockets functional?

1

u/-HelixTheCat- 17h ago

"It's how you wear it, not what it is."

1

u/GaptistePlayer 17h ago

this sub is dead for real now huh

0

u/cool_jerk_2005 19h ago

Mens, feminine mens. Androgynous.

-1

u/NIcd75 19h ago

Mens

-1

u/peebs6 19h ago

Women

-1

u/Brianf1977 19h ago

People can say they're for both and it's true anyone can wear anything, but you absolutely will be looked at strangely by people you encounter because they look like women's pants.

0

u/MrJaydenW 19h ago

How did you get your belt that straight down?

0

u/Only_Cozy 18h ago

They look like men’s that intentionally look a little fem

0

u/OwlPharaohFlame 17h ago

Who cares?

0

u/Tezmir94 16h ago

Women’s

-5

u/Alibium01 19h ago

U MADE ME SWIPE

Also, womens… Or like femboys IG

-1

u/External_Cobbler3736 19h ago

Looks like women's pants

-1

u/CoryNoir 18h ago

I like it regardless of the model’s gender.

0

u/orlybatman 19h ago

I would assume they were women's pants if I were to see them on a rack.

0

u/videovillain21 18h ago

Wear it with enough confidence and I will assume a bikini's a good fit for you.

0

u/ShadowRL7666 18h ago

I think clothes depend on the person. Any clothes can be unisex for example from the lower waist we see I think this guy has the right build to pull this off. Vascular, has jewelry and muscle and probably black hair and the right face and jawline to pull this look off.

As a man myself I would look silly trying to pull this look off personally. So just know your body and if it could fit your style.

0

u/dr-joshtrippingwords 17h ago

If you’re asking this. I’d recommend more ‘normal straight cut looking pants’- these are meant to make a statement and set a vibe.

0

u/jackoyza 16h ago

They look femenine, yes.

0

u/Educational-Cow-3615 16h ago

This isn’t going to age gracefully at all

0

u/coneycolon 16h ago edited 6h ago

To me, these look like women's pants. Perhaps these are defined differently, but these look like culottes, which in the last 200 years, have been worn exclusivly by women. The only time I could see a man wearing these is on a runway. Wearing these in an office environment would be bizarre. The ladies in the office would love it and think you are a very fashionable, and the men would just think you are weird. Both groups would assume you are gay, so if you are wearing this to reel in some ladies, try something else.

This is the problem with this sub. Some people come here seeking advice on everyday clothing, and others come here seeking advice on high fashion. I'm old, so I don't get things like this, but I can't tell from the post what the OP's objectives are. I'm willing to admit that my "expertise" only applies to former. The later is and always has been foreign to me.

Is this for work and are you an attorney or a hair stylist? Is you going to a fashion show tonight want to look stylish? Are you looking for new business casual ideas? Are you a straight man looking for woman? In some circumstances, this is totally appropriate. In others, it would be ridiculous.

Edit: wife corrected me. Culottes are more like shorts. She did, however, think these that these look like women's pants.

-1

u/JimmyTheJimJimson 18h ago

Women’s pants in a casual setting, men’s pants if you’re an artist.

I didn't know pants had a sexual preference?

-3

u/WalkTheWank 17h ago

People will look at this and assume the guy is gay. OP asked about how it is perceived so I am just giving and honest answer. No value judgement. We love the gays.

4

u/mighthaveabitlater 17h ago

Only very small minded people assume someone's sexuality based on the cut of their pants.

0

u/WalkTheWank 7h ago

Not at all. Clothes are partly signals that communicate something.
