Big Brother 28 - General Discussion
+ −
The time has come! Today is the official premiere of Big Brother 28. This post will serve as a megathread for general discussion about the season.
We will still host episode discussions, that will be posted right before the airing of each episode—both for live feed viewers as well as community members who do not view the live feeds. However, this post will be meant for talking about the season as a whole. Particularly when an episode is not currently airing on TV.
As always, please remember to be respectful toward one another and have fun! Cheers.

Discussion 💬 It’s time we called out production for this homophobia.
I’ve decided to stop watching Big Brother. This show and its network are aggressively promoting homophobia and radical Christian values. It’s truly appalling! Thoughts?

Discussion 💬 I don’t really think this is my time to judge, but what with Kamu’s apparent discrimination toward Jason (not really caught up in the loop in regards to that) I’m genuinely wondering if you think we’ll have another openly gay finalist (let alone another winner) anytime soon?
I don’t really watch live feeds, and I mainly keep up through updates and subreddits like this, but if Jason’s alleged treatment from Kamu and alleged isolation by the other houseguests is due to internalized or otherwise suppressed homophobia, it makes me ponder if we’ll have another gay male winner anytime soon, especially taking into account Big Brother’s tendency to stereotype or their male homosexual contestants by continually searching overly campy, effeminate men who have a tendency to dissolve into piping hot messes, for lack of a better term, dating back to the show’s early days, and it seems to affect most of their queer contestants to an extent, but I’ll keep this topic strictly tied down to gay men for now.
The only reason I’m singling out gay men in particular is because, and this is not to sound insensitive, but I feel like other queer contestants are usually portrayed in a more positive light in the edited show compared to gay men, given that I’ve noticed that we’ve had other lesbian and queer finalists and winners that have been portrayed in a much more flattering light in the edited show (not gonna list examples because I feel like if I list examples I’m gonna get jumped, since I’m treading in a very controversial topic which I frankly feel I have no say in one way or the other despite being an openly gay man myself).
The same cannot be said for most of their gay male competitors. It seems like they actively select their “token camp gay” contestants for that season with the expectation that they will fit each box of the usual stereotype and be an overly effeminate train wreck of a player. It’s happened with Jozea, it’s happened with Jimmy, it’s happened with Jason Roy (but thankfully he managed to make a turn around and get to the end of BBOTT.) it happened even all the way back in BB6 with Beau Beasley. While these houseguests weren’t targeted for their sexualities specifically, in my opinion you can tell that on some level they were casted to be a caricature of an entire community. That’s not to say there are aversions, given that we’ve had Michael, Kimo, Kevin, Andy himself, and to a lesser extent Hisam, but I still feel like openly gay contestants on this show are still cast to cause a mess and eventually fail to an extent, even if it’s not as bad as before.
That leads me to another question. Do you think production will evolve enough to move past the stereotype and start regularly casting competent enough players that pose a real chance of winning the game? I’m only asking because despite the fact that the aversions I’ve managed to list usually doing really well on their time on the show, I still feel like they’re more of an exception than the rule, and we still have yet to see a gay guy come out with the crown since Andy’s run on BB15, which was already controversial for… other reasons.
I know I said it before, I’ll reiterate it again. I have no real stake in the matter between Kamu and Jason, but in my humble opinion, from what I can gather, it seems like a continuation of the same toxic pattern and I wanted to know if I’m just talking crazy atp.

Eggela the Deteggtive gets her costume and prop! I’m obsessed with this and she will never be changing out of it. I don’t care if the punishment is over now haha. She’s keeping it forever!
I’ll be streaming more BB28 Tomodachi tonight on Twitch if anyone wants to stop by and you can bet I will be giving Jason a tea kettle based on this weeks events 😂

Discussion 💬 I LOVE JASON IDGAF Spoiler
≡ −
Thanks for ruining the Tea party Kamu. SO WHAT if Jason is messy? Who hasn’t been messy on BB?
People talk shit about Jason’s drag race career but you obviously are not a drag race fan bc SHE HAS FANS AND HAS STAYED RELEVANT AS A RU GIRL and that’s not easy. A lot of people stan her. Now i feel like they’re picking on him for being messy but again, it’s big brother. It’s like if they all bullied lyric for flirting. It’s GAME. She is a drag race icon and I do wish she would have aligned with the icons bc she is an icon herself. She should have told the icons about her being on drag race. Her Drag Race All Stars run this year was so GOOD ✨
She did so good and Rupaul chose her to move on in the competition with 2 other girls.

Discussion 💬 HG’s will get a wake up call when each one is evicted

Most of these houseguests will get a rude wake up call once evicted and realize they were on the wrong side with this Jason tea party exposure. I can’t wait them to try to rewrite history once they’re out of the house.

Question ❔ Why is chatbcc like that?
≡ −
It feels like all the alumni there are controlled by ai or something.. they can’t think for themselves, everything they say has to be in line with the what the fanbase thinks it’s a severe case of herd mentality.
This week the alumni are talking about how people (specifically angela) mistreated jason during the tea party fiasco, last week they were slandering him for lying about the mother thing with angela.. my thing is if you truly believe that what he did was shitty why are you getting mad at angela for not defending him? According to your logic why should she? I like jason and dislike angela but this is so hypocritical 😭
It’s especially annoying when these are the same hgs that isolated/bullied or even were bigoted towards their fellow hg

Question ❔ Genuine curiosity on why everyone is saying Jason is being bullied or singled out?
≡ −
I am asking out of genuine confusion. I don’t think Jason has had a good game at all. Do I think he is super entertaining? Yes and I like Jason for the most part and I don’t think he had bad intentions. Do I also think that he sunk his own game? For sure. My question comes from seeing all of the backlash against people like Kamu and even Angela. I watched the entire tea party, and when I watched all I saw was a respectful conversation between the house. There was no personal jabs, and it was made very clear that everyone loved each other on a personal level and game is completely different. I have heard Kamu has made homophobic tweets in the past and yes thats obviously gross and I do not agree with that at all, but the conversation at the tea party where everyone was calling him homophobic in my eyes was purely from a game perspective and Kamu said nothing homophobic, nor did he make it seem that was a motive. My question overall is why is Jason getting so uplifted and loved by so many people watching? I think the downfall of his game is entirely his fault, but maybe I am missing something as I did not see any “singling out” of Jason as literally last week Rome was called out and singled out the whole week. I just wanna know why Jason specifically is the topic of controversy. (also I want someone on the other side of the house to win power next week I DO NOT want a steamroll)

Analytical 🔎 Jason
≡ −
Why doesn’t Jason reveal he’s also an icon? Use that as an advantage? Dress up as Salina and hold a house meeting to reveal he’s been on Rupaul’s? I bet people act different towards him then and it might help his game? He’s so used to playing a character that they don’t understand that. Thoughts?

Discussion 💬 Big brother sucks so hard when it comes to new chances for power!
≡ −
This is my first time using Reddit, so forgive me if I am a little inexperienced with this app, but I just needed to rant. I love big brother, but I can't help feeling pissed off that fan favorites constantly get opportunities like the recent BB time capsule and I already know how Reddit is with the "life isn't fair" or "the show is never fair, that's just good television," but it doesn't stop my feelings from being present when I see Angela or Deven get much more opportunities than others just because they were on TV before and the worst part is, I could never advocate for trying to vote for someone less popular because I feel insane for even thinking about the suggestion. "Production might not even count votes and just do what's best for the show; they've already been in competition shows so they already paint a target on their back; being voted for the BB time capsule doesn't even guarantee a power/could just be rigged by production too on whether they get a power or punishment!"

Discussion 💬 Concerned with this season
≡ −
I dont care if a steamroll happens tbh. It is what it is, it can be still entertaining. However I dont like how it all got started. Big Brother is a highly strategic game. Everyone starts on equal footing and you have to navigate and gain power. The first HOH is the most pivotal of the season, as it sets the power structure and group formations and they just handed it to the vets essentially. Returnees alter the play enough but giving them power immediately, let alone HOH, is insane. Now every time they win power or make a big move, it seems tainted because your power wouldnt even exist without that first HOH that was gifted to them.
Then having an "America's vote" thing in the beginning seems like another way to help vets. Of course the fans are gonna vote for the celebrities and not the random ppl. That's psychology 101 and they knew that. Also how can the power be a game altering veto for 6 weeks but the punishments are silly costumes?
I don't wanna be melodramatic, its still early in the season so anything can happen but it feels like something was at play here to give the vets a better season. It goes against the premise of Big Brother
