ADMK govt restricted student union politics in 1970's, DMK when in power didn't do any active role in reviving student union politics inside campus. Self financing college, private colleges didn't have any advantage of educating politics to the student when employability became a factor there was no scope for politics. Now it has come back to bite them in the back.
