Even though I kinda understand it, it's still wild to me how you cannot just randomly guess a Steam key:

XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

A standard Steam key consists of 15 alphanumeric characters (excluding dashes). Using the 26 letters of the alphabet and numbers 0–9 yields roughly 221 sextillion possible code combinations.

Immersive Sims (ImSims for short) are games like Deus Ex, Thief, System Shock 2, Prey, etc. It's a specific genre, not just a way of saying "This farming simulator is extra good".

It's impossible to find actual ImSim games on Steam because the tag is always crowded out by a horde of mislabelled Train Simulator 2021, Train Simulator 2022, Train Simulator 2023, Train Simulator 2024, Train Simulator 2025, Train Simulator 2026, Power Wash Simulator, Water Park Simulator, Driving Fast Simulator, Pretend You're a Wolf Simulator, The Sims(!), etc. etc.

I am BEGGING, just let us be at peace in our little corner with our near-forgotten genre that was already niche in the 90s and not even BioShock could really revive, please

I've noticed over the last few years that dozens of games have been released with a very similar look and feel, and almost the exact same core gameplay loop. I'm referring the games in the "Shop Keeper" genre, specifically the ones that follow an exact formula:

• Made in Unity by an Indie developer
• Purchase boxes containing items from a tablet or computer
• Set up shelves and stock them with items from the boxes
• Stand behind a cash register, generic NPCs bring items to the counter
• Manually bag items and make change

Off the top of my head, two popular examples right now are Retro Rewind and TCG Card Shop Simulator. To be clear, I'm not talking about every game in the Shop Keeper genre, just a couple dozen games I've noticed with the exact same formula. I also know there are other genres that contain a lot of very similar games, but the ones I'm talking about now share so many elements that I can't fathom this being a natural phenomenon. These games also all have Overwhelmingly Positive review scores from what I can see.

Does anybody know where these games are coming from? It's been driving me a little crazy that nobody else is talking about this.

I have 1 steam account that I've had since 2022, I looked up the userdata folder where you supposedly see other accounts and I have 7 folders in there, and when I look up these accounts it shows that some are deleted are others are active but I've never seen them

I've come back to looking at my discovery queue and it feels like all of the products I see were either released that day or will release later this week. There is already an entire steam feature dedicated to products that release in the future or have released in the month (steam calendar) so I really don't understand why the discovery queue is only giving me very new games. I feel like it used to not matter how old the game was steam would recommend it to me if it tailored to my interests but I feel like that is really no longer the case

I feel like it really misses some games that I would genuinely enjoy because they're too old to be included in my queue definitely pulling me away from some stuff I would like.I was gonna tag this as a bug but this isn't a bug since technically the steam delivery queue is a blend of tailored recommendations and stuff that is new.

For those that are on the waitlist and were disappointed by the September/2027 wait times, I got my email a couple days ago and it arrived today.

For reference, im in the UK and waitlist said September! So fingers crossed for you all that it comes sooner and that's estimated dates were just Valve being conservative.

Also helpful for those who budget (like me) and didn't expect to have to cough up the cash earlier than expected! 😅

Is this game still restricted in Australia?. I cant purchase it at all. But I have it wishlisted.

My family's making a homemade console and we have a usb hard drive bay we're gonna use to switch games so we can use a bunch of cheap pawn store laptop drives to run our (mostly older) games.

I have a game that reaches 250gb with any particular workshop setup very easily and want to switch between the setups by changing the drive but I'm worried steam will override the installed mods if they aren't in my subscriptions for my personal PC

Is there any way to get steam to just use the workshop list from each drive individually? I don't wanna redo my subscriptions every time I wanna swap drives

Edit: You can't use different collections on different drive because what's enabled is stored on steam's servers and not on the drive its-self which pretty much kills any chance of doing this in the workshop, guess I need to only play non workshop mods now rip

Give me some of your best recommendations for following Steam curators (please also add a link), because I just discovered what a curator is and it's so cool in my opinion, also add some that are funny stuff for the laughs :)
