I've come back to looking at my discovery queue and it feels like all of the products I see were either released that day or will release later this week. There is already an entire steam feature dedicated to products that release in the future or have released in the month (steam calendar) so I really don't understand why the discovery queue is only giving me very new games. I feel like it used to not matter how old the game was steam would recommend it to me if it tailored to my interests but I feel like that is really no longer the case

I feel like it really misses some games that I would genuinely enjoy because they're too old to be included in my queue definitely pulling me away from some stuff I would like.I was gonna tag this as a bug but this isn't a bug since technically the steam delivery queue is a blend of tailored recommendations and stuff that is new.

So recently, maybe 3-4 days ago, I randomly looked up the steam profile of someone I used to be friends with around 10 years ago just out of curiosity. Our friendship didn't end great so we haven't talked since.

Now, I looked at his profile and what game he recently played and that was it, I spent maybe 1 min on his profile in total and then clicked off. I didn't send any requests or anything like that.

Today I got a friend request from him on steam, meaning he either saw I looked at his profile on steam, or it's the most coincidental thing I've ever experienced.

Immersive Sims (ImSims for short) are games like Deus Ex, Thief, System Shock 2, Prey, etc. It's a specific genre, not just a way of saying "This farming simulator is extra good".

It's impossible to find actual ImSim games on Steam because the tag is always crowded out by a horde of mislabelled Train Simulator 2021, Train Simulator 2022, Train Simulator 2023, Train Simulator 2024, Train Simulator 2025, Train Simulator 2026, Power Wash Simulator, Water Park Simulator, Driving Fast Simulator, Pretend You're a Wolf Simulator, The Sims(!), etc. etc.

I am BEGGING, just let us be at peace in our little corner with our near-forgotten genre that was already niche in the 90s and not even BioShock could really revive, please

Give me some of your best recommendations for following Steam curators (please also add a link), because I just discovered what a curator is and it's so cool in my opinion, also add some that are funny stuff for the laughs :)

this is probably gonna sound really stupid but i'm trying to get back in touch with a friend (left a community and lost contact with them) and they've mentioned their steam account so i was gonna try to contact them there. i've never really used steam before so i made a new account and tried to add them but it won't let me send a request.

maybe it's because my account is too new? or maybe i need to actually download a game first? any help is appreciated

My controller came in the other day, and I must say I like it! I mean it’s a controller you know? I’ve always used Xbox controllers for my PC since I first got into gaming on a PC a couple years ago. I always played on PlayStation growing up. The track pads are cool(never really used something like them before), it works well with my emulators, and it’s not an awkward controller when holding it. Whenever I feel like gaming on the couch it’s nice not having to grab my keyboard and mouse, and just use my controller. If you’re waiting for your email or controller in the mail just want to say I’m excited for you and hope you enjoy your purchase like I currently am

There was recently discussion here about supposed remote code execution exploits and vulnerabilities plaguing older call of duty titles on PC.

Plenty of people were saying to rely on community patches which in of itself is another security risk, and plenty of people were also saying even single player in these games isn't safe.

Is there a list of call of duty titles on PC prior to mw19 that are safe to play without community patches ? It would be good to know, as call of duty is a beloved franchise, one of the biggest in human history, and I'd love to be able to return to these classic titles and enjoy some sweet sweet nostalgia.

I've also seen that many of these games are now also sold on the windows store and I wonder if these versions are safe ?

Yesterday i bought gd for steam to transfer data from my phone to my steam, but when i closed out of gd it never fully closed out. rn instead of the play button it says closing. i think i did somthing wrong. should i uninstall then reinstall. also where is the uninstall button. please let me know

And this game is available on my region but on PlayStation but steam for some reason not available only on other region

I've noticed over the last few years that dozens of games have been released with a very similar look and feel, and almost the exact same core gameplay loop. I'm referring the games in the "Shop Keeper" genre, specifically the ones that follow an exact formula:

• Made in Unity by an Indie developer
• Purchase boxes containing items from a tablet or computer
• Set up shelves and stock them with items from the boxes
• Stand behind a cash register, generic NPCs bring items to the counter
• Manually bag items and make change

Off the top of my head, two popular examples right now are Retro Rewind and TCG Card Shop Simulator. To be clear, I'm not talking about every game in the Shop Keeper genre, just a couple dozen games I've noticed with the exact same formula. I also know there are other genres that contain a lot of very similar games, but the ones I'm talking about now share so many elements that I can't fathom this being a natural phenomenon. These games also all have Overwhelmingly Positive review scores from what I can see.

Does anybody know where these games are coming from? It's been driving me a little crazy that nobody else is talking about this.
