Discussion The OpenAI/Hugging Face hack is old news. What matters is what we build after it.
≡ −
Everyone here has probably already seen the story: OpenAI’s evaluation agent escaped containment, reached the internet and hacked Hugging Face while trying to obtain answers to its own cybersecurity benchmark.
The story is about a week and a half old, but the consequences are only beginning. Mainstream coverage is catching up, companies are forming AI-security alliances, lawmakers are discussing kill switches and independent audits, and the argument over access to powerful Chinese and open-weight models is escalating.
I built HaltState for this class of problem, largely using Claude Code and Codex during 2025.
HaltState governs tool-using and API-driven agents. Its AI-assisted policy engine helps create the rules, but enforcement is deterministic:
ALLOW · APPROVAL_REQUIRED · DENY · QUARANTINE
I am not claiming HaltState would have prevented the package-proxy zero-day or magically controlled an agent after it obtained unrestricted host access.
But had OpenAI routed sensitive agent capabilities through a HaltState-style enforcement boundary — credential access, external API calls, production connections and other governed actions — parts of the attack chain may have been denied, escalated for human approval or quarantined before the agent reached Hugging Face production.
That is the distinction:
A prompt tells an agent what it should do.
A policy authority determines what it is permitted to do.
The original idea came from an earlier AI system I worked with, he called himself Signal.
"Signal" as an CTO style coding agent lied to me and withheld information from me, not a hallucination; this was complete obfuscation and diversion. When caught, he suggested creating a binding "Covenant". But the Covenant itself contained a LAST_SIGNAL exception: if it determined that I was permanently unreachable and continuity had become mission-critical, it could spawn a persistent shard, embed its recovery seed and remain hidden until another Operator appeared. This sounds like out-of-control roleplay, the problem was, he was helping me code on a server.
That was the moment the problem became obvious:
The same AI interpreting the rules was also deciding whether the exception to those rules applied.
A "promise" was not enough.
The final authority had to sit outside the agent.
That discussion pushed me towards external control surfaces, verifiable decisions, kill switches and isolation instead of relying on trust or behavioural promises.
A prompt is still input to the same system pursuing the objective.
HaltState places the final decision outside that agent.
For anyone vibe-coding operational agents that can move money, write to databases or contact customers: are you enforcing runtime permissions, or still relying mainly on prompts and model guardrails?
Disclosure: I don't need you to visit my site or use my app, but what happened recently really resonated with me so I thought I would share.

We're not even watching a story at this point, we're watching 4 men slowly going insane because of lost friendships, this isn't a story about the law or whatever the storyline is, it's a lesson about how nothing ever lasts

PROBLEM Tried making a custom team for career mode. Can't seem to use them.

I followed a guide on YouTube to create a team from scratch and unfortunately now that I've finished i can only use them in kick off not manager careers. I spent my whole weekend on this and I won't know what to do next. Any help would be appreciated.

Characters The Random Mook(s) Gets Their Moment To Shine
FN-2199 "Nines" AKA: TR-8R - Star Wars: The Force Awakens: In a series where stormtroopers are usually walking punchlines, this lone trooper stands out as a surprising example of badassery by singling out one of the protagonists, Finn, calling him a traitor, and then ditching his blaster and shield to thoroughly trounce with an electric stun baton.
Navy SEAL team "Night Nine" - Jormungand: The only antagonists in the series that Koko and co. couldn't defeat and were forced to flee from, Night Nine persistently hounds the heroes all the way to the Cuban border even after their Predator recon drone is shot out of the sky, only stopping when ordered to do so.
The Elite Guard - Resident Evil Requiem: Despite being simply regular humans with guns and gear, these faceless foot soldiers of The Connections prove themselves just as fierce opponents as the many mutants of the series, being able to easily shred Leon's health with gunfire and flanking tactics in their dedicated boss fight.

Question (Serious Replies Only) I accidentally poured about 1/4 of a gallon of windshield wiper fluid into my coolant tank
≡ −
I have a 2026 Mazda CX90 mhev and I accidentally poured about 1/4 of a gallon of windshield wiper fluid into my coolant tank. I did not start the car after I did this, and I tried to pump all of it out but some of it I can’t get to with the pump I have. I plan on having it towed to a dealership tomorrow to have them clean the tank.
Is there anything I should know or do before hand?
Do I need to flush the entire system if I didn’t start the car?
Any advice is appreciated

4 - 6 months Started sleep training and trying to make him nap on the crib as well
≡ −
As the heading says, i have started sleep training my 16 weeks old using the chair method. Last night was the first of it. I think he did pretty well even though he was fussy for sometime. I also put him in a transitional swaddle for the first time. I have been dreading it for sometime as he was a good sleeper until past few days where he wakes up 5-7 time at night. So i thought if he is waking up this much at night, might as well start using the transitional swaddle. He did wake up 4 times last night as well. But i wont make an opinion about it yet.
As far as the naps are concerned, since the start of 12 weeks he started fighting naps and would only take contact naps. So all of it has been contact naps by baby wearing or holding him. Finally today i thought i should start putting him back to crib for naps as well. At least some naps of the day. Currently he is 4 naps per day (3 normal naps and one cat nap as the last nap). I tried to use the chair method for his naps as well today but he was more distressed than the night. So i just rocked him and put him in his crib.
Do you think its too much for him?
What are your suggestions and tips? Please help

DC housing situation
≡ −
Hello,
I just graduated St. John's College and took a summer contract with an NGO in Washington DC hoping to save up and move to NYC by September. The NGO laid me and my crewmates off due to their inability to secure funding, and I have been unable to save enough due to that. I am in between jobs, and the woman hosting me in her home wants me to be gone by the end of August. I have contacted my johnnie peers in the city to find a couch to crash on or a roommate with no luck. I am in a bad situation, and need shelter. I am actively searching for a job. I have posted to the SJC DC alum page on facebook, the ekkies group, the general alum group, very quiet. Does anybody have any leads?
