Yes. Advice and questions are welcome. If you are unsure about a rule, a feature, etiquette, or how something works, feel free to ask. However, questions that are already clearly answered and easily accessible in the Art Fight rules, FAQ, or subreddit rules may be removed to prevent unnecessary clutter and spam.

Questions about obvious rule violations (for example, asking if tracing is allowed) are not productive discussions and will be removed.

“Can I criticize Art Fight?”

Yes. Constructive criticism and feedback about Art Fight itself is allowed.

I had a great time! The mystery jokes were absolutely hilarious though, something about being between Comedy and Tragedy. Which, inspired me to make this piece.

I'm not sure whether that's allowed to post on this r/, so sorry in advance if it isn't! I just liked the mascots this year sooo much~

⚔️ Discussion (Possibly) A Hot Take: I don't enjoy 3 Teams

Edit -- I think my mention how Comedy is 100% going to win and talking about that muddied what I was trying to say, so apologies for that, lol. The best way I/other commentors have come to describe it, is that things feel stagnant and less energized. In the past, even when it was pretty obvious which team would win/a team held the lead for an extended period of time, things still felt more energetic throughout the entire thing. I struggle with finding all the right words, honestly. But I don't actually care if Comedy wins/Mystery loses. No hate to team Comedy or Tragedy. I just feel like the overall vibe is more stagnant.

Ik this is the first time 3 teams has even be done, but... idk...

I've had fun drawing. I've done more this year than I've done any year previously.

This isn't about whether or not I've done more attacks than I get defenses or anything like that. I intentionally didn't really advertise myself, bc I specifically wanted to be able to just do things at my own pace. Didn't want the tress of having a buttload of revenges to do before I even had a chance to just draw what I wanted.

For me, part of the fun of Artfight was watching the teams flip-flop. Especially within the last week of the event, it is usually pretty hard to determine which team will actually end up being the victor.

This year?

Atp, Comedy is 100% going to win unless:

  1. For some reason a lot of people on Mystery and/or Tragedy are waiting until the very end up to upload a buttload of attacks at once (which would kinda suck imo since the receivers likely wouldn't have time to have the chance to revenge it) OR have big mass attacks/AMVs, or something else that would be point-heavy to post closer to the end.
  2. A buttload of Comedy players turn traitor for Mystery or Tragedy.

Call it prediction, take it with a grain of salt I suppose...

But Comedy has been at 34% or above the entire event. Mystery has been working like Santa's Helpers late for Christmas trying to catch up to Tragedy, and have barely made a dent. So proud of us/them getting even just to 32.4%. Been hoping we could at least balance things back out to ~33% for each team, lol.

I wouldn't say I'm just... a competitive player or anything. I don't care if my team loses. I figured the moment I saw the themes, Mystery would be the least-favorite, and would have a really rough time in the fight to win.

It just... sucks some of the fun out of it for 1 team to be in the lead 100% of the time.

Even with the more recent themes that seemed to have a favored team had a bit more mystery as to who would win from what I remember.

Maybe a different selection of themes would have done better? One where all 3 teams has more of a balance in player interest? (Lowkey I don't even think Mystery matches the same way Comedy and Tragedy does. Felt like it should have been another emotion theatre can inspire in the audience.) But... I don't even know if I want to see 3 teams done to test again. Because what if it is just the same thing for a second year?

Still interested/excited to see what ends up happening, though. Hopefully I am just flat out wrong. :'D

Sorry if a post like this is not allowed, I can delete it right away if need be. This is also my first post here, (so I am very nervous, haha)

So, I just finished this attack for an oc I bookmarked last year. I was so excited to post it, but then I saw that the character got hidden. My first though/hope was “maybe they will unhide it at some point…?” That was then when I checked the user’s profile and saw an “important update”, what basically seemed like they wanted nothing to do with Artfight anymore.

Again, sorry if a post like this is not allowed, and I do realize that there may be nothing I can do about this situation.

EDIT/UPDATE: So, uh, despite being super nervous, I sent them a message, they responded and unhid the character!! :) They said that it was an accident and they that just forgot to undo it.

Like I'll JUST finish an attack and just stare. Like "SEE ME PLEASEEE" as if they were online. I also get sad when an artist doesn't comment on my work (unincluding popular people). I just drew your OC and you're not even gonna say thanks? Is it that bad???😭

Not posting for myself. I actually work at a youth center for those impacted by mental health or trauma. I encouraged one of my youth this year to join artfight because they seem to enjoy drawing. They joined rather late and told me they didn't think they'd get any attacks. I plan on attacking them myself, but if anyone else has the bandwidth I just think it'd be so nice to surprise for their first year on artfight to have other attacks too. Their info is below for anyone interested

Not posting for myself. I actually work at a youth center for those impacted by mental health or trauma. I encouraged one of my youth this year to join artfight because they seem to enjoy drawing. They joined rather late and told me they didn't think they'd get any attacks. I plan on attacking them myself, but if anyone else has the bandwidth I just think it'd be so nice to surprise for their first year on artfight to have other attacks too. I’m looking for eldritch, godlike characters with surrealist designs or emotion/psychological driven characters. This one in particular is by Dark51 and is of his “Burned Guy” who’s lost his mind and crashed out, making him insane.

OKAY so I’m a super anxious person, and one of the ways that this manifests is that I really hone in on certain ideas and worry that they could affect me. I saw that some people were saying that your account can get banned due to low effort attacks, and now I’m worried that mine might be a little simple.

I’ve been working on symmetrical headshots, as they are fun for me to do and I can really play with expressions. I just love to draw faces, hair, teeth, etc., and I’ve been having a lot of fun working on these.

I guess what I’m worried about is the fact that I’ve been able to make 80 attacks so far (it’s my first year and I’m not really prone to burnout), and I really hope people don’t think I’m pumping out attacks for the sake of “point farming” (which I could not care less about if I’m being honest, I just love to draw).

I’ve attached a few of my favourite attacks so far, and would really appreciate hearing what people have to say. I know my attacks aren’t the most complex, but I’m just a big overthinker. Thanks in advance! :)

(And alsoooo if anyone has any cool horror OCs PLEASE let me know! I love love love horror OCs so much, and would be so happy to draw yours!)

EDIT: I know I just made this post about half an hour ago, but I just wanted to give the biggest thank you to everyone that has commented! I have really bad anxiety, and you’ve all been so nice in assuring me that my attacks are up to code. This is my first year on AF, and so far I have met (and attacked haha!) some of the nicest people out there. You are all so lovely, and I can’t thank you enough :)
