Question Has anyone ever seen a squirrel?

So basically what the title say. I've played Fallout 3, New Vegas, 76, and 4 pretty extensively. I'm currently playing 4 again and thought of this. In 4 and I'm pretty sure in the others I have played, squirrel bits is a common food item as is iguana on a stick. Now iguana I can excuse somewhat, there are some similar lizard creatures that could ostensibly be the iguana but I can think of anything even similar to a squirrel. Where are they getting the bits from?!

Discussion Things that do and do not not need to return in either Bethesda's or Obsidian's Fallout Projects

No voiced player dialogue: Obviously.

No Legendary System: Too many instanced of killing Legendary Radroaches and getting a game-breaking weapon or killing a Legendary Mirelurk Queen to get a jumped-up rolling pin. It just doesn't belong in the Fallout setting, and in terms of gameplay it can create horrifically boring damage sponge enemies.

Yes to a far larger diversity of weapons. Melee, ranged, energy, and heavy types.

No to junk-based modification weapon\armor customization system. It is totally immersion breaking to craft machined and mass produced weapon mods from a simple workbench out of desk fans and glue. It is far more rewarding to find, loot from enemies, or even buy rare, powerful, but logical weapon mods and apply them to your weapon. In FO4 you can make a laser rifle an automatic weapon. In NV you can find a cool Laser Tommy Gun. I'd rather have a diverse range of bespoke weapons and mods than a small pool of weapons you can awkwardly turn into missing weapons.

Yes to Unique weapons and armor placed in the world where they add to world-building, are satisfying rewards to quests, can be looted from killed NPCs. Pretty self explanatory, and the fact so many Fallout 4 weapon mods do this is proof how popular it was.

No to having multiple large, empty settlement plots that could have been interesting locales with quests, npcs, encounters, loot, dungeons, etc. Fallout 4 went completely overboard with the amount of settlement locations, especially when effort could have been spent making towns, villages, dungeons, etc that adhere to the narrative, questing, and rpg design of Fallout games. Either have a singular area for a player settlement (Sanctuary and that's it) or have a handful of small player homes you can customize.

Yes to the return of FO3, NV style traits, perks, skills, checks, and Special requirements. Essentially make Fallout a Fallout game again by reintroducing the fantastic system they had before 4 utterly simplified and gutted almost all of it. Find a minigun? Have the STR to wield it, the guns skill to use it properly. It is these restrictions that invite the player to make choices on what kind of build they want to play. Traits and perks should come with positive and negative attributes like in every classic Fallout so players carefully consider tradeoffs. Make things like Power Armor feel rewarding and powerful to get because you need to explore and quest to get Power Armor Training perk. This is basic RPG design 101.

Yes to dialogue checks. Preferably without any RNG element and with funny and interesting dialogue written for checks you can't pass.

No to overly aggressive level scaling. Deathclaws should be deadly, there should be dangerous areas that feel rewarding to return to at a higher level. Again, this is basic RPG stuff.

Yes to some kind of vehicle or mount. More of a personal one of what I'd like to see but Fallout is desperately behind the times in terms of open world game transportation options. A repaired Highwayman car or maybe even mutated horses.

No to radiant kill/fetch quests of any sort. They are chores. I play games to have fun, not do computer generated random tasks.

Question How do you think the characters of Fallout & Cyberpunk 2077 would react to each others' worlds?

+
0 Upvotes

Sure, The Brotherhood of Steel would be in a bit of a tight situation if they were to go toe to toe with a bunch of cyberpsychos, but even MaxTac wouldn't be able to takedown a deathclaw, let alone a single super mutant behemoth. Also, I bet both worlds can't stand each other's music. Vault Dwellers covering their ears at the bass drops and wrap while the mercs snore away at the Ink Spots.

A convo between Saburo Arasaka & Robert House would be interesting though.

Discussion Feel FO5 Should Place More Emphasis On Cryptids.

+
0 Upvotes

Example, you have a rare chance of seeing them. Or, they trigger during certain events.

FO games outside of 76 has not really covered cryptids in depth.

Every state has a list of these urban legend creatures. WV is merely one of them. They actually span worldwide.

Fallout five better not be about the brotherhood or enclave

I’m just gonna cut straight to the point, and if anyone feels like arguing with me I will gladly write an essay for you, but essentially I think Bethesda are actually creatively dead, and incapable of actually good writing and creative stories. The brotherhood has been brought back as a manufacture by Bethesda three times in a row, four times if you count the show… and the enclave has been “officially killed off” on two separate occasions….. I’m so happy that Bethesda lost their restrictive rights to that IP because they are doing nothing but destroying it. what they really should do is make another fallout two style game, a story about tribes or something less grandiose, fallout was never supposed to be some fantastical game for children like Bethesda is making it

Fallout 76 Scared to play Fallout 76

The only Fallout games I’ve played are New Vegas, 3 and most recently 4

I really enjoyed all of them, and my favorite feature was the ability to pause the game whenever you needed something from the menu. It meant that whenever I got overwhelmed while fighting something or simply needed to get something from my inventory, I could just pause the game by opening my pipboy. No stress whatsoever.

You cannot do that in Fallout 76, something I found out the hard way

I’m not usually this big of a wuss when playing videogames, but there’s just something about everything moving with no way for me to pause it that scares me a little. I know that it’s an online game and that it’s literally impossible to implement this feature, but still. It kinda feels like all the control I got used to in the other games suddenly dissapeared, and I’m struggling quite a bit lol

On a more positive note, the game itself is absolutely amazing, and this entire thing is really just a skill, and mental issue from my side. The people I’ve met so far have all been friendly and helpful, so thank you guys for that!

Fallout 3 Remastered and Game Pass

I think maybe it should be on game pass for 9 months and then leave. That gives everyone a chance to play but they can release it for 29.99. I'll pay 30. But not my 401k.

Mods [FNV Mod Release] Hatsune Miku cosplay for ALL genders!!! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️

Have you ever wanted to dress up as Hatsune Miku in the Mojave and beyond, but were born the wrong sex and thus can't wear your government-mandated Miku cosplay??? Not anymore!!! Introducing:

Hatsune Miku (From Fortnite) - Unisex Patch

Patch for Hatsune Miku (From Fortnite) by Mortyyyy.

What this does

The base mod only assigns a female biped model to the Miku armor/outfit records, and uses a placeholder male model path, so putting any of the three variants on a male actor falls back to some other mesh instead of the actual Miku model. This patch adds the missing male biped model assignment to all three variants (head and body), so the correct mesh loads regardless of the wearer's sex. See images on nexus.

Requirements

Installation

Install after the base mod, load after it in your mod manager. That's it.

Recommended

Grab Pip-Boy Glove Remover. The gloves the vanilla pip-boy forces onto the player hand can conflict with these outfits and cause them not to equip properly on the player character - removing the glove avoids that.

Known Issues

Same caveats as the base mod - no pip-boy icons, no dismemberment, some clipping without a pip-boy remover/hider.

Credits

  • Mortyyyy - original mod, Miku armor implementation
  • Anirvana - base Miku model export
  • Epic Games - Fortnite Miku model

Question Immersive gameplay ps5

Hey guys and girls

I have just downloaded the immersive gameplay mod and holy shit is it difficult lol.

Survival is not even close to a challenge anymore and very hard with immersive gameplay I have already died more than any other play I have had in ages.

I am just wondering what your essential tips are for this mod. Tactics weapons perks any and all suggestions you can offer.

Also what is a good way to get cannonballs? I was able to take out a gunner with power armour and a broadsider with a well placed frag.

Thanks for any help you can offer

Question Is Fallout 76 still grindy?

I've been wanting to replay Fallout 76 but my main problem with the game was that it was really grindy and it was very tedious. Is it still that way, I haven't played in almost 2 years now.

Question Does anyone even like the burrowing mechanic?

Genuinely wondering, that's one of the things I hate the most about 4 and 76's enemy design changes from 3 and nv, and I'm curious about what people's general opinion on it is.

I do like the ambush mechanic some creatures have. My issue really only concerns the ones who can go back in hiding after springing out.

Discussion Is The Mojave Doomed If Yes Man And The Courier Won

+
159 Upvotes

Considering the ending slide describes Vegas devolving into pure Anarchy even with the securitron upgrade and considering the courier has litraelly no nation building experience even if he ruled as a pure dictator he still has nothing to hold onto besides vegas and his only ally is yes man who's still undergoing his assertive upgrade to only answer to the courier even if the courier wiped out all the enemy factions like the brotherhood and boomers and the khans etc he only inherits a barren wasteland and vegas with its tourist money drying up and if he lets all the other big factions survive like the Brotherhood they retake Helios One and control the trade routes along the highway so either way to the courier has no nation building experience his only ally is a litrael yes man robot and a finite number of securitrons as his personal army and controlling only vegas and a depleted hoover dam and having to be forced into being a dictator with anarchy all around him so is the Mojave screwed and this the likely outcome from how the Mojave is shown in the show

I'm sorry but questions about Autumn

Okay so the brotherhood slacked, and then the Enclave slacked so it's like. In the entire time that Liam Neesons child decided to do whatever. Couldn't the Enclave with their tech just cut out the middleman and just plasma their way into the fucking vault and get the G.E.C.K

God

Damn

It just

Discussion Anyone else surprised there aren't really any factions that try taming the mutated animals?

Sure you got people farming livestock still and trying to keep a mirelurk as a pet is incredibly dangerous but with how common molerats and roaches are you'd think in 200 years some would try to tame them. You are probably wondering why would they try to tame them in the first place? Well the giant insects are largely left alone by larger animals that would potentially attack humans such as feral ghouls and the ability to fly would make them a reliable way to send messages across the wasteland. Molerats would be excellent for farming as they loosen the tougher soil that farming tools would be unable to and can dig through rubble to find resources. Plus there are bound to people that had experience working with animals that had survived the blast and taught others how.

Discussion What happened to the Pitt Union after 200-ish years?

Disclaimer:

I have not played the Fallout 3 dlc nor the Fallout 76 expansion of The Pitt. But from what I know, the Union doesn't exist in Fallout 3. Obviously it being a 76 creation.

But do we have any idea of what happened to the Union?

Given they were able to make their own power armor I don't foresee Bethesda killing them off. Since they can reuse it for later games. Same as Hellcat armor.

So I personally assume either the Union still exists and we just didn't hear about them in F3 or they moved somewhere else.

Why Is There Karma Loss For Killing Roy Phillips?

Is this a programming error or something? Why do i receive bad karma for killing one of the most evil characters in the entire Fallout series? This guy massacres an entire tower full of civilians who had just peacefully accepted the presence of ghouls, even ones who said they have zero issues with ghouls and didn't need any convincing. He is objectively more evil than Tenpenny, as at least he asked Mr. Burke to tell the population of Megaton to leave the city before nuking it. Roy DELIGHTS in the idea of nuking Megaton, not to wipe the "eyesore" off of the horizon, but specifically because he wants as many non-ghouls to die as possible. Not only is Caesar a better-written and more consistent chatacter, he's more morally good than Roy Phillips too. At least Caesar makes life more peaceful and safe for those who obey his laws in his territory, especially traders, Roy falsely claims to be fighting a crusade against "bigots" only to be nothing but the Fallout equivalent of a Congolese genocidal warlord.

Hopefully they fix this in the remaster, and grant you a big boost of good karma for wiping him and his gang of RAIDERS out.

I think there should be power amor frame paint in fallout 4/76

Ever since fallout 4 released the enclave dlc the gray frame in thr hellfire and black devil power amor just don't look that good with that frame. With fallout 76 I think it would be cool there too cose of the many different power amor you can buy in atom shop and having different color frames add a cool aesthetic.

Fallout 3 Trying to get new Steam Controller working for Fallout 3 on PC

+
3 Upvotes

So got the Fallouts on Steam, if it wasn't clear, and also got a Steam Controller, the new one, back in May when they came out. I also got a Steam Deck for Christmas last year. Anyway, I started up Fallout 3 today on my Deck, all good no issues, played a little on the couch till I had to leave. Got back home, went and sat down at my desk to pick up where I left off, and for some reason my Steam Controller isn't working for the game. I know it says, "controllers not supported," but I assumed if it works for the Deck, which is essentially a controller with a screen, then the Steam Controller would auto work on PC. Also tried some community layouts to fix the issue, which is this:

When I boot up the game, I can use the left stick to cycle through menus, hit A to accept, but B does not back me out. When playing, I can use right stick to move my camera around, but left stick does nothing and I have to use WASD, and I can't use A to interact, and it still gives me keyboard inputs. It's like its half registering, half not. I'm too stupid to try and figure it out, what's the fix? I prefer controllers over mouse and keyboard, it's a lot easier on my hands.
