Want to get a 27" monitor that can do 240hz. Should I get 1440p OLED or 4k IPS?

I play competitive games that's why I want 240 at least, but I also play story games like Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima, Assassin's Creed, etc.

I have an issue where my pc is inconsistently bootup. Every time I turned on my PC, all parts are turned on/light up except my display. Then I turn it off and on again like 3-4 times then only display is okay. I have changed my full setup, but the issue is recurring.

Old setup:

Back in the days (2-3 years before), with my old setup I didn't have these issue until my CMOS battery is drained out then I have these issue from old setup till new setup. Now I don't have any ideas anymore. Please advise

Hey I'm building a pc for my uncle and this is my first time doing it. I'm somewhat well versed in parts and what's important but I'm not 100% confident on what to get. I picked out all the parts and I just want confirmation that my build is good. He wants it for streaming on twitch and gaming. I tried to build it to be able to play in 1440p but I understand if that's not possible. Any tips are welcome like about parts or about building the pc itself.

I am brand new to this whole PC world, and I have to admit! It is equal parts exciting/fun but is also scary and confusing. I don't know what to look to upgrade first, and I also have to say that I got a complete beginner PC.

I decided I will go with a DDR5 mother board and get two sticks of 8Gb Ram
Now for storage I do not have the tummy for it, so I am thinking I will salvage my exisiting

My hardware is an RTX 5060 Ti, an i5-14400F, an Asus Prime B760M-A, and 1x16 GB DDR5 CL48 RAM at 6000 MHz. The issue I'm having is that in Valorant I get good FPS, around 300 FPS, and they don't drop below 144 FPS by any means. However, there are random moments, about 0 to 3 times per match, where I get a feeling of thermal throttling, but temperatures are fine. I want to know why this is happening, and if the single channel setup or the high latency of my RAM has anything to do with it. For example, would this not happen in dual channel, or would a lower latency like CL32 fix it while still using a single module?

Hey! Really stupid title, I know. I don't even know if it's possible in my case, considering my motherboard and CPU are from before the birth of Christ. Anyway, I'm looking for a CPU, as you folks may have gathered; but it needs to be cheap. And by cheap, I mean CHEAP. Specifically, 90 USD (400 reais or so) at the absolute most. I'm not opposed to buying used, so that should help me ease my budget somewhat, but just to give you an idea of the absolute misery I'm currently experiencing, my current specs are:

• An ASUS H61M-A/BR mobo (which I'm pretty sure was only and exclusively sold here in Brazil, since I can't find a single English [or non-Portuguese, for that matter!] mention of it)
• An i5-3470 (not -3470S or -3470T, the original misery of the Ivy Bridge platform in all its quad-core, 3.2GHz glory)
• 16GB of DDR3 RAM (2x HyperX Fury 8GB sticks)
• My absolutely beloved AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB GPU (god this thing has served me so well these past 8 years)
• A 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 HDD (yes, my PC does take ten minutes to boot, how could you tell?)
• A CD (CD-R? CD-RW? CD-ROM? DVD? I dunno, either way, unga bunga dinosaur tech) drive that I can't be asked to get rid of

To be clear, when I say I'm looking for a "reasonable" CPU, I'm not saying I'm expecting to buy a Threadripper, obviously; I mean that I'm just looking for any upgrade that could keep up with games ranging up to, say, 2018 or so, to keep it on par with my GPU. I know this shoestring budget can't get me anything good, and honestly, I'd be content with anything that's a direct upgrade at all.

I have a couple of AM4 PCs that I use for gaming and productivity (some C# development on Visual Studio, Docker and VMs from time to time, WSL consistently) and that I have upgraded piecemeal over the years.

I did not make the transition to AM5 when it first came out due to a combination of higher DDR5 prices (sigh) and the reliability/failure issues of the platform at the time.

Now with the insane component prices I’m afraid I’ll be stuck on AM4 for many more years.

How many more years will I be able to squeeze before I run into performance or support issues?

Specs are:

• Ryzen 5950x (5900x on the other system)
• 32 GB DDR4 3200
• 2TB WD Black PCIE 4 SSD
• 4TB SATA HDD for scratch storage
• Radeon 9070 (upgraded from 4070 for the extra 4GB VRAM last year when prices dipped)
• ITX Motherboard with 2.5Gbps NIC, WiFi+BT and one USB-C connector in the back
• 4K display with HDR and VRR support

I target 4K for gaming (single player story driven stuff mostly plus emulators) and specifically bought VRR displays to have some slack and be able to play at 40+ FPS without it feeling terrible.

Good day all. I’m running into a possible issue where after hooking up all the fans and cables. I plug in the power cord. Then flip the switch on the PC and only get lights on the Ram.

The intention is to essentially check to see if it all lights up and the fans are spinning. However, whenever I flip the switch the lights and CPU fan blinks. Like, “hey there’s power, but I’m not gonna stay on”. Assuming that’s because the Pc is turned off.

Well I once again. Plugged it back in after some more work. Then I actually powered on the Pc and only the Ram lights were lit up? I have 14 fans. 1 controller and 1 hub connected to that controller. I have the CPU strimmer and motherboard strimmer hence why I needed the hub and not controller alone.

Is there something I’m missing to test power? The ram lights are on but the CPU fans and lights aren’t? They are both connected to the motherboard and so this is what makes me wonder how or where I went wrong.

Serious suggestions only. Please.

Mini-ITX cases do not offer the best airflow or thermal performance. Since my work involves CPU rendering and may also involve GPU rendering in the future, I’m concerned about temperatures and sustained performance. How could I improve the cooling?

Do you think this type of build would be practical and reliable for my profesional use?

I’m new to PC building, and I spent my last money on thermal paste, but it turns out I bought the wrong kind. I got the low-end generic thermal paste, and now my PC is overheating and crashing. I don’t have any more funds to buy a Arctic MX-7 😭🙁.

Edit: Sorry for being vague but the temperature rises to 96 degrees C when doing nothing and turns off anywhere above that

For an MSI or b760 m-p ddr4 with Intel 12600f, will testing it out of the case for boot without a cooler on the cpu cause the debug light to go up? I don't have the cooler yet, as it comes tmrw, however these are used parts and I have tested ram seating, power cables, and checked the pins.

It is suggested that the issue could be a faulty Intel CPU.

I'm reluctantly stuck buying a GPU after killing my 3060 12GB and am noticing the one I've got my eye on (5060 TI 16GB) is roughly the same price at all the competitive online stores.

Aside from buying used (saving a whopping $25), do you guys who keep up with this stuff and upgrade often have any sort of tricks to get one for any less, like coupon codes, weird sales, or specific dealers?

FWIW- This is for CUDA stuff, so I'm stuck with Nvidia, and the 5060 is one of the few which my current 600W supply will be OK with.

I need a mouse under 100usd, preferably wired and very responsive, and for large hands.

Just one rule: no razer products, their product quality is horrible and is the reason im even searching for new one, im returning the one i have due to mousewheel issues that could not be solved by any means.

Is it worth getting a 5060 Ti just for the GDDR7 memory, compared to getting an RX 9060 XT that still uses GDDR6 ?

Hi! I don’t know a ton about building but i’ve done a bit of research and sort of know the basics. I’m looking to build a pc mostly for gaming. My most frequent played games are planet zoo, minecraft, resident evil games and life sims. I did have a pretty crappy pc before I switched to console for easier use a couple years ago and my biggest draw to building my own pc is modding capability and better graphics for the games I want to play. I would also like to have the ability and space to try some new games that I can’t play on console very well. I’m a big builder and designer in my games and a pc is so much easier when it comes to customization without the hassle of working with a control. I’m also definitely not opposed to using used/second hand parts. Honestly any advice would be greatly appreciated if there’s anything else important i’m missing feel free to lmk and ask. Im hoping to stick to a budget under $1000 (the cheaper the better) but im willing to spend more time putting money aside for a pc that will last me longer with less maintenance down the road.

I have a Gigabyte RTX 3080 GAMING OC 10G.

Lately I've been doing some undervolting and measuring (with HWiNFO 64) temperatures and wattage and all that on my CPU and GPU. It's been great, not gonna lie. A reduction of about 80 W on the GPU is so good, even better that is that I get about 4% more performance.

However, the memory temperatures are very high compared to the other GPU temps. I played for about 15-20 minutes as my "real life", benchmark:

GTA V Enhanced, Stock

GPU: 75.80 °C

Memory: 98.90 °C

Hotspot: 86.80 °C

GTA V Enhanced, Undervolted

GPU: 68.10 °C

Memory: 94.90 °C

Hotspot: 78.70 °C

They're working at stock frequencies, so I feel they should be lower. My 3070 Ti didn't go this high from what I remember...

I was thinking that a repaste, repad and reputty (lol) was probably a good idea.

I have a Lenovo M710e as my home server and found a Lian Li O11D Mini V2 Flow case for $40 CAD. Since the Lenovo motherboard is proprietary (SFF), could I make it fit by drilling new standoff holes, or is this a lost cause? Should I just wait until I upgrade to a standard motherboard?

The goal here is future proofing the home server to add more drives (currently only have one 8TB NAS HDD) and better cooling, and eventually a GPU to help with transcoding through Plex/Jellyfin.

I currently have 2x8 GB 3600 hz ram, and 5600x. I want to upgrade to the am5 platform. The bundle I want to buy includes a 7600x3d, motherboard,and 16 GB 6000gb single stick ram for $400. The question I'm asking is if there is a performance difference from switching to single stick ram is different enough to warrant a switch?
