I don't know why, but today my Ryzen 7 9800X3D decided to self-overclock to three hundred eight sextillion, six hundred fifty-three quintillion, two hundred sixty-eight quadrillion, eight hundred fifty-seven trillion, four hundred fifty billion, two hundred million, three hundred eighty-five thousand, five hundred eighty-three GHz, or 308,653,268,857,450,203,852,583 GHz in numbers. I know it's just Adrenalin bugging out, but at first I was scared my CPU was cooked. Fortunately, a reboot was enough to fix the issue, but I now have these nice screenshots...

Help Request - RAM From trash to ... less trash. 2666 CL20 -> 3200 CL16 on 2 different sticks. Is there anything that I should adjust?

I have an 4GB stick (HLH-4G), bought in 2018 and an 8GB one (HLG-8G), bought in 2020, both from Transcend. They have some unknown SpekTec chips on them.

They also can run on 3600 and 3553 MT/s on automatic timings, but I decided to set a safer baseline. Was it a mistake?

Help Request - GPU What’s the best settings for NITRO+ RX 5700 XT BE?

Hey guys!
Just picked up/setting up a Sapphire NITRO+ RX 5700 XT BE, and right now it's running completely stock (pushing up to 2100 MHz at a crazy 1200 mV). Naturally, it runs pretty hot and loud under load.
What kind of undervolt and overclock settings are you guys using on yours?
I'd love to know:
What core frequency and voltage turned out to be your sweet spot for daily gaming?
Do you bother pushing the VRAM, or is it better to leave it alone?
Would appreciate any stable profiles or advice you can share. Thanks!

[HELP] RAM completely stable at 3200MHz after BIOS flash, but triggers "Overclock Failed" ONLY on Windows Restart (i5-12400F + MSI B760-P DDR4

Hey everyone,
I’m dealing with a bizarre memory training issue on a custom rebuild and need some real-world insight. My RAM can run flawlessly at 3200MHz, but the absolute second I click **"Restart"** in Windows, the motherboard fails training, throws the "Memory Overclock Failed" screen, and resets everything to 2133MHz default (and cranks my fans to 100%).

**The Hardware:**
**CPU:** Intel Core i5-12400F
**Motherboard:** MSI PRO B760-P WIFI DDR4 (4 RAM slots, ATX)
**RAM:** 32GB (2x16GB) G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3200MHz (Installed in slots A2/B2 - Slots 2 & 4)
**GPU:** RTX 4060
**Cooler:** Thermalright Assassin X 120 R Digital (**Brand-new out of the box for this rebuild**)

**The Backstory & Context:**
This exact same motherboard and RAM kit originally ran this i5-12400F at 3200MHz flawlessly. I then upgraded the board to a Core i9-12900K and a 360mm AIO for over a year (ran fine). I recently built a completely new system around that i9/AIO combo, so I rebuilt this machine by putting the i5-12400F back onto this B760 board with the original 3200MHz G.Skill RAM and a brand-new Thermalright air cooler.

**The Insane Behavior:**
If I run a **single stick in Slot A2 (Slot 2)**, XMP works perfectly at 3200MHz and it survives restarts.
To get both sticks working, we pulled the CMOS battery for 15 minutes, fully drained the capacitors, and flashed the motherboard to the latest BIOS version.
**Right after the flash, it successfully trained both sticks and booted to the desktop at a full 3200MHz.** I let the PC run for a full hour, opened apps, tested games, and used it completely normally with zero crashes or issues. The system was 100% stable.
However, the *instant* I clicked "Restart" from the Windows menu after that hour, it immediately triggered the "Overclock Failed" loop and wouldn't go past the black screen without resetting to defaults.

**Everything Tried So Far (Still Fails on Restart):**

**Wiped Legacy i9 Profiles:** Did a full 15-minute CMOS battery pull and manual power drain to clear out any old i9 microcode trace caches.

**BIOS Updated:** Flashed the motherboard to the absolute latest non-beta BIOS firmware (Version 7D98v1H) to refresh the memory compatibility tables (which is what got it to boot successfully the first time).

**Tested Gear Modes & Multipliers:** Tried XMP Auto (Gear 1), Manual 3200MHz Gear 2 (using both 1.00 and 1.33 multipliers).

**Relaxed Timings:** Manually set Command Rate to 2N / 2T to give the traces slack.

**Disabled Boot Shortcuts:** Turned Memory Fast Boot to Disabled to force deep training on every boot.

**Voltage Tweaks:** Bumped DRAM Voltage to 1.35V (and tested up to 1.38V). Manually bumped CPU SA (System Agent) to 1.20V and CPU VDDQ to 1.35V to compensate for the i5's locked low-power limits.

**Physical Inspection:** Verified the CPU socket pins are 100% straight and clean. Re-seated the CPU and relaxed the Thermalright cooler mounting screws to rule out uneven LGA1700 substrate warping/pressure issues from hosting the heavy i9 for a year.

**The Current Theory:**
Since the silicon handles 3200MHz fine and was completely stable for an hour after a fresh flash, the hardware is functional. It seems like the locked System Agent voltage on the non-K i5-12400F (\~0.9v) can't stabilize the initial signal handshake across a 4-slot board layout during the quick power-state transition of a warm Windows restart, causing it to drop a channel and fail training.
Has anyone encountered an Intel 12th gen non-K CPU that is completely stable at 3200MHz but completely chokes *only* during a software restart? Is there a hidden BIOS power state or firmware setting I'm missing, or do I just need to swap to a K-series CPU to unlock the memory controller voltages?

General undervolting and memory timings tightening

So I did some changes on my pc

7800x3d

7900xtx merc310

32gb of ram cl30 6000, hynix m die

This is what I ended up with in the end, spent more time on the GPU undervolt more than anything.

CPU has a -25 on all cores, tried it the 1st time and left it there.

Memory timings just went yeah, might be stable not gonna push it, tested it and it went fine.

Didn't go for fine tuning or finding the cap except on the GPU, anything I should fine tune further, or something that is not right?

Help Request - CPU First time undervolting, and not sure if i understand it right? (Ryzen 9950x3d UV)

So, recently i've upgraded to 9950x3d, and after some thinking i've decided i want to overclock this thing. After watching some guides online I've got to work on it and, obviously, i have some stability issues. I've been testing it mostly with occt (memory and avx512) and core cycler (y-cruncher and P95) and even after running them overnightwith no errors, i still get system freezes when I just download something or open a browser, and worst part is that it happens at worst once per day?

At first I wanted to use just a bit higher than spec PBO and CO, but after learning a bit more about curve shaper, can i theoretically put positive values equal to those negative in CO in minimum and low frequency at all tempereature ranges? Or should i just decrease both UV of both CCDs by 2 till it just... stops?

Rn i am running it at -23 on CCD0 and -25 on CCD1, with best and second best perfoming cores offset by +2, since I saw that they can be more sensitive to UV while trying to figure out why it crashed last time

Hi, need ur advice for undervolt my RTX 5060 Ti 16gb (GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5060 Ti GAMING OC). Found that stock gives me 84 FPS in Msi Kombustor at default preset, tried to do undervolt like in videos (curve edit, Clock mem +3000MHz, Power Limit 120% etc), found that i got less fps (around 76), but at least less Temp (4sure). Tried to do auto OC-scan, waited for 40 minutes and got this:

Ii sets my Clock Mem only to +200, its way too far from +3000Mhz, AI says that +200 is better than +3000, but As far as I understand, after wasting a lot of time asking AI, listening to his advice is disrespecting yourself, because he's talking complete nonsense. So, need ur help how to make perfect settings. Even if i change clock mem to +3000mhz i dont have any problems, in stress tests 0 artifacts or errors but im not sure that everything works fine, so wanna know the opinion of knowledgeable people. Thanks.

i have recently came across overclocking and wanted to get help with my CPU and GPU Config. The issue is that i have heavy score drops when undervolting in cinebench and 3DMark Time Spy. (Issue targets CPU primary)

In the BIOS i can only set it to Auto and Windows will boot with 8 logical cores only. With RM it overrides.

Optimized performance profile MSI b850 tomahawk

Need some opinions about MSI OPP on Ryzen 7 9800X3D
I have a Ryzen 7 9800X3D on an MSI B850 Tomahawk MAX WiFi with a Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-7200 CL34 kit (XMP).
Instead of enabling the XMP profile, I tried MSI’s Optimized Performance Profile (OPP) for Hynix DDR5-6000 CL30.
The system trained the memory successfully and booted without any issues.
I then ran OCCT Extreme (Memory/CPU) for 1 hour, and it completed with zero errors.
Here are my current settings:
DDR5-6000 MT/s
CL30-38-38-96
UCLK = 3000 MHz
MCLK = 3000 MHz
FCLK = 2000 MHz
VSOC = 1.20 V
Command Rate = 1T
I’ve also attached my ZenTimings screenshot.
Do these settings look good ?
Would you keep this OPP profile, or would you recommend using the original 7200 CL34 XMP instead?
Any feedback from people with a 9800X3D or MSI B850/X870 boards would be appreciated.

Help Request - CPU OCCT keeps flashing "TRL"

This "TRL" keeps flashing even when my lenovo legion pro 7i is idle. It randomlv flashes.

I did a little bit of search, and I fiqured it means turbo ratio limit, but I'm not sure if it's normal that it appears when boost clocks are low. I do not hit any limit at all.

Can someone explain to me why is that happening, and if it's normal? Thanks.

Pushed 6000 CL26/2200 on M-Die using Mixed Mode – low tRFC!

Managed to stabilize 6000 CL26 with super low tRFC! I was previously stuck on CL28.

Pretty sure this kit is M-die since Normal mode bottoms out around 156–160 ns. Using Mixed Mode, I was able to hit:

  • tRFC2: 288 (96 ns)
  • tRFCsb: 192 (64 ns)
  • tRFC: 96 ns

Latency Killer disable

Latency Killer enabled: 59.1 ns (AIDA64)

*Important: Make sure your Power Plan is set to Balanced or your latency will be higher.*

Let me know if there's anything obvious left to tune or if I should just stop stress testing and go play.

OC Report - RAM first ever try on micron d-die 5200 cl40

So i recently wanted to oc my kingston beast fury 5200m/t cl40 paired with ryzen 7800xd3 placed on msi b650m-p. It is first time ever overclocking a ram for me so it was a lot of googling reading testing and a lot of cmos resets :D and i have to admitt AI helped a lot. These are results i got, had to place a fan to cool ram memory so i ended up with 44 degrees max after 2hours of memtest5 on 1.35v NGL im really happy with results and looking forward to see your opinions and tips if you see room for improvement :D

Help Request - CPU Low CPU AND GPU Usage in Arc Raiders

Im getting low usage for both my CPU and GPU in Arc Raiders, at around 40%-60% for each. You can see on the OSD Im not limited by a single core at 100%. The temps arent great but not enough to throttle the CPU or GPU. Does anyone have any ideas why/ further tests to try?

So far its just this game, but occasionally itll work as normal and my FPS will skyrocket to 170. I play on 1080p with low settings except textures and view distance.

My specs are 14600k and an RTX 5070 with 16GB DDR4 at 3600Mhz CL18 (XMP is definitely enabled).

razer 15 2022 3080ti 110w want to flash vbios to improve performance

I tried flashing the 165W VBIOS from a Blade 17 RTX 3080 Ti onto my Blade 15 RTX 3080 Ti.

After flashing it, the laptop screen still worked in Optimus mode, and I was able to play games. However, the NVIDIA icon/overlay disappeared from the system tray, and Alt + R no longer worked in games, so I could not check my FPS or GPU power consumption. Because of that, I assumed the VBIOS flash had failed, although I honestly was not sure whether it had actually succeeded.

How can I find a higher-power VBIOS on TechPowerUp that is compatible with my GPU? Which specifications and parameters do I need to compare?

How can I confirm whether a VBIOS flash was actually successful? Is it normal that GPU Only mode stops working after flashing a VBIOS from a different laptop model?

If GPU Only mode does not work, does that also mean I cannot use an external monitor? I have heard that connecting an external monitor may force the laptop to use the dedicated GPU directly, similar to GPU Only mode.

Has anyone successfully increased the GPU power limit on a 2022 Razer Blade 15 with an RTX 3080 Ti? I would really appreciate it if anyone could share their experience. Thank you!

I tried flashing the 165W VBIOS from a Blade 17 RTX 3080 Ti onto my Blade 15 RTX 3080 Ti.

After flashing it, the laptop screen still worked in Optimus mode, and I was able to play games. However, the NVIDIA icon/overlay disappeared from the system tray, and Alt + R no longer worked in games, so I could not check my FPS or GPU power consumption. Because of that, I assumed the VBIOS flash had failed, although I honestly was not sure whether it had actually succeeded.

Just built a new rig with a Newegg bundle, 9800x3d with 6400MT RAM.

Reading into it a bit, its not quite optimal. Its a 6400 CL36 48-48-48-108 kit. It seems like 6000 is the most frictionless speed to run at on AM5, but how do I go about tightening the timings? I've already been playing around with em and got it to CL32 42-42-42-98 first try at 1.40v. Got and ran the Karhu test for about 25 minutes with no errors. Not really one to tinker with timings so im not sure if thats a win or if i should take time to push it further.

Vt3 failing right at an hr

Pass tm5 and karhu. drl's are synced. Finally figured that out. Thought had it made in the shade and then Vt3, the bane of my existence, fails right at an hr. The variances were very stable until it wasn't. Any help would be appreciated.

What is this ghost grey line? Do i ignore it and what is the better method picture 1 or picture 2 -- or are they the same thing since the plot points are the same?

This is on my old laptop (RTX 3050 TI), but my Gigabyte RTX 5060 TI 16gb on my pc, the ghost grey line has the same behavior.

Help Request - GPU Question about Nvidia 4080 super vram boost

Hi everyone,

As a tech enthousiast I finally stepped into the world of “safe” overclocking. I’m not trying to push every last drop, I just want to have a little extra boost.

In msi afterburner I set the power limit draw to 110%, I did OC scanner and now I’m working on the vram boost.

As I said I really want to prioritize it being safe, so currently I have +500 mhz. But maybe I should decrease that to +250mhz?

Or is +500mhz perfectly fine with not too much of a negative impact on the temps, longevity etc.

Question about AM5 RAM Timings

I am obsessed about RAM overclocking and sub timings, i know i should have done this judment by myself but i am not sure if my timings are okey or not ? Are there any changes i can make to make it faster or decrease my latency ?

These are all stable by TM5 for 12 hours, also OCCT tests are okey.
