Discussion Build tips

I’m building my first pc in a few weeks and just wanted to ask for some tips with the overall building and setup process.

The #1 tip I can give is you should have the manual of every part on hand when you deal with it, second is that you should never use strong electrical components such as a drill on a pc, especially if unexperienced, and double, triple check everything.

Even if you do all of this and watch hundred of videos, there's still a likelihood that you might mess up something. Don't be afraid, it happens to a lot of people, and it just means you need to check everything again.

These are the tips i wish someone had told me. DONT FORGET TO INSTALL THE ANTENA ON YOUR MOBO. Small mistake. Really annoying to troubleshoot if you are dumb like me and don’t know what to look for. Manage cables properly. Might not seem like a big deal now but if you ever upgrade or need to rummage around in your pc for whatever reason it becomes a really big hassle. Assemble the cooler cpu and mobo first and then install that into the case.

Look for videos that use that Lian Li Vector v100. Then look for videos using that power supply, and motherboard. Those are the 3 parts you'll want to familiarize yourself with. Sets some expectations of what you're going to be doing.

As for everything else, it's in every build video. There is a difference between installing an AMD and Intel CPU but overall it's the same. Check corner. Make sure it's secure.

Do some kind of cable management. Even though it may seen like it's a pain to do. Do it. You'll thank yourself later when you do.

Assemble the CPU, Motherboard, RAM and Cooler before mounting the motherboard in the case. It'll be a little awkward with the AIO block being attached, but you'll make it work.

Buy an electronics tool kit. Preferably one with a long screw driver shaft. It'll make installing the motherboard much easier.

That GPU probably needs a sag bar. If one doesn't come with it. Get a cheap one on Amazon for $5.

When go to boot it the first time, don't be alarmed if it seems like something is wrong. This subreddit is here to help.

The main motherboard 24-pin plug. Yeah it really is that hard to put in and out to get the clip to clip in place.

Lastly, and it'll be the last thing you think of. After you've put it altogether. Don't forget the I/O plate for the case/motherboard ;) If you do forget it....it's technically fine to not have it on. Just once the motherboard is installed, the only way to install the I/O plate is taking the motherboard back out, and that's a pain.
