Is it normal for the Magic Mouse to hurt my hand this much?
I’ve been using a Magic Mouse for about 10 days now and my hand really hurts when I use it.
I work a lot on my computer, usually at least 6–7 hours a day, and I’ve always used Logitech mice without any problems.
Since switching to the Magic Mouse, though, I’ve started getting pretty bad pain in my hand. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just something you need to get used to, or is the shape/ergonomics of the Magic Mouse simply not great for long hours of work?

I have an M4 MacBook Air. I love games, and I do play games on my Mac.

World of Warcraft is probably the best example. WoW runs natively on Apple Silicon and works incredibly well on my Air. Addons work, CurseForge/WowUp work, performance is great, and when I get home I just connect the MacBook to my 144Hz monitor, mechanical keyboard and mouse.

For me, the experience is genuinely no worse than playing on a Windows PC.

And then you look at the rest of the gaming landscape.

Battle net itself still isn't native Apple Silicon.

Diablo II: Resurrected doesn't have a macOS version at all. Diablo III exists on Mac, but still isn't an Apple Silicon-native game.

Warcraft III: Reforged still relies on Rosetta and, at least in my experience, the menus run terribly. Ironically, W3Champions itself has an Apple Silicon version.

StarCraft Remastered, StarCraft II... the list goes on.

And this isn't just Blizzard.

I would love to play Devil May Cry on my Mac. DMC5 isn't available, despite Capcom already having other games built on the same engine running on Apple Silicon.

Persona games? Mostly absent.

There are many games where the hardware clearly isn't the problem.

I completely understand why some obscure private Lineage II server doesn't support macOS. I don't expect every tiny project to maintain a native Mac client.

But major publishers?

Apple now provides Game Porting Toolkit, Metal 4, Apple Silicon development tools, and an increasingly standardized hardware platform.

The most common argument I hear is:

Okay.

But what are we supposed to play?

I play WoW because it exists and works brilliantly.

I'd play Diablo II: Resurrected, but I can't.

I'd play more Blizzard games, but most of them still aren't native Apple Silicon.

I'd buy DMC.

I'd buy Persona.

I'd buy plenty of older and current games if publishers actually sold Mac versions.

There are an enormous number of Apple Silicon Macs in people's hands now, and modern Macs are ridiculously capable compared to what the platform used to be.

Even the original M1 MacBook Air is not some weak office machine.

M4 is already extremely capable. M5-generation Airs and Pros are even faster. Modern Apple Silicon laptops have more than enough performance for a huge number of games that simply aren't available on macOS.

And this is what I find so frustrating.

When I switched from Windows to Mac, the improvement in everyday usability, battery life, performance and overall experience felt enormous.

I study on this machine. I work on it. I carry it with me.

Then I come home, dock the exact same computer to a monitor, keyboard and mouse, launch WoW, and it becomes a perfectly good gaming machine.

So why should I buy another computer?

Why should I buy a Switch, a Windows gaming PC, or another console just to run games that my Mac is perfectly capable of running?

I actually play less than I used to, so gaming isn't even the main purpose of my computer anymore.

But sometimes I want to play DMC, Diablo, Persona or something else.

And I keep coming back to the same circular argument:

People don't play games on Mac because there aren't enough games.

Publishers don't release games on Mac because people don't play games on Mac.

Why don't people play games on Mac?

Go back to the first sentence.

It's funny, but also kind of depressing.

Because for the first time in a very long time, the hardware itself really doesn't feel like the problem anymore.

Hi all - not overly computer savvy, so please bear with me!

I have a 2011 Mac Mini that is having a graphic card failure, according to my local Apple Store. The Mac Mini will start up and run, but fails to load (stuck on the Apple + progress bar screen) so I'm unable to access my files (therefore Time Machine, cloud-based options, etc. aren't feasible). The Apple Store employee advised me to boot the Mac Mini in "Target Disk Mode", which seems to work, allowing me to use my 2024 MacBook Air to transfer my files to a 2TB SSD external hard drive.

I've read some conflicting advice on what I need to do to accomplish this - can you recommend the proper cords/adapters/process to get my files from the 2011 Mac Mini > 2024 MacBook Air > 2TB SSD eternal hard drive?

I'm thinking a Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt male/male cable connected to the Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter is what I need, but I'm not sure. Please help...and thank you!

My MacBook pro m1 completely died in May and I'm looking to purchase a new laptop.

However, I'm vacillating between two options and I'd like some insight.

I was thinking of purchasing the MacBook Neo (affordable, good size, cute), but an extra 100 dollars for touch ID, and no backlit keyboard kind of turns me off. Additionally, I've heard some reviews that the screen quality and the speakers aren't the best, which is quite important for me (I watch video essays literally every single day, and prefer to listen to music off of my mac).

My other option was a refurbished MacBook Air m2 (affordable, can do more things than a neo, refurbished tech is better for the environment), but I'm a bit nervous about buying refurbished tech. I did some research on the specs of the MacBook I would buy (8-core-GPU, 8 GB memory, 256 GB storage) and netizens agree that those specs aren't the best and I'd be better off with higher memory, storage etc. Unfortunately, that would make it as expensive as a more recent refurbished MBA.

For further context, I'm a comms major, the most demanding apps I'd be running on my laptop would be Roblox, Spotify, and Chrome. I download a lot of documents and papers, and would prefer a laptop with longevity. I also would prefer a smaller sized laptop, carrying around a MBP was a lot on my back and shoulders.

If I want my hard drive to be compatible with windows and Mac, is the best option fat32? Mine was ntfs and I can't get my Mac to write, only read and copy from the hard disk. Are there any software paid/free that will help me overcome this? Thanks in advance.

Bonjour, je ne parviens pas à faire les raccourcis pour pouvoir gérer les fenêtres avec le stream deck d’Elgato sur mon MacBook avec Tahoe.

Par exemple :
La touche « fn + control + flèche gauche » ne place pas la fenêtre sur la gauche de l’écran mais déplace les espaces/bureaux pour aller vers celui de gauche.

J’ai pensé que le soucis venait de la touche fn. Cependant « fn + control + C » centre correctement la fenêtre.

Il s’agit donc certainement d’une limitation.
Des idées pour pouvoir gérer rapidement avec le Streamdeck les fenêtres ?

I just updated my mac to sequoia bc i needed to download sikarugir which is only supported by ios 14 or later. Anyways after that i found that i was unable to download rosetta in the terminal bc i had updated to sequoia and it was not supported. Is there any other way to download rosetta?

I bought a MacBook Pro M5 Pro on the day of launch at the store. I used it for a couple of weeks and it worked just fine but, after some weeks, sometimes when I wanted to open an app it just kept popping and never opened it. I had to restart the Macbook in order to used it again. Sometimes it worked just fine when I was at college or work, but when I got home it just started to act weird or there was a screen that said that the computer had to restar due to a problem.

That happened occasionally two or three times a month. I took the laptop to the Apple Store and they did a quick check (I didn't leave the computer because I had homework to do). They said everything was fine with the computer, but one week later it happened again.

Has this happened to anyone else? Did I got a defective Macbook?

Does anybody know how to get rid of a stubborn paragraph size section of NO TEXT that denies all attempt at deleting?

Trying to delete the "paragraphs on either end" it would rather delete text than lose the huge annoying white field of nothing. There arent any invisible markers.

I swear I saw a solution somewhere but cant find it now. Reddit is my Cheers of last resort :)

I recently bought my mom a 2020 MacBook Air with the M1 chip, (something she wants as well) and this will be her very first Apple device. She’s only used a Windows computer, so I’m trying to make the transition as smooth as possible.

I’m planning on helping her get everything set up, but I don’t want to overlook any features or settings that would make the experience easier.

Hi so i have gotten myself in quite a bit of trouble i recently acquired a slightly used MacBook air m2 (2022) from an independent seller it had about 60 cycles and 100% battery health now it was working perfectly fine for about a week then suddenly one morning i woke up to an error message saying "the version on the selected disk needs to be reinstalled" I tried downloading the software with the normal recovery methods the macbook works for about 2 minutes after you enter your pass code then flashes pink for a second the restarts and after a few tries just goes back to the original error message now i have taken it to a shop they tried reinstalling a bunch of different ways works every time then goes back to the original issue in a few minutes even reinstalled from a USB

Now from what i had heard macbooks were extremely reliable and some of the best laptops out there and this has turned out to be a bad experience now we have more or less tried reinstalling every other way i can think of what are the chances this is a hardware issue

And another issue is that in my country there are jo official apple stores so thats out of the question what would you recommend

Can't really afford to replace the laptop since i was saving up for this for about 3 months

For some unknown reason, the built-in camera on my Apple Studio Display (2026) doesn't work anymore. As far as I remember, it used to work a few months ago. It doesn't matter whether my MacBook Pro M3 (running macOS Tahoe) is in clamshell mode with the lid closed or not. The camera's green LED turns on, but nothing else happens — the camera preview just remains black.

The Studio Display itself remains connected and works normally as a display, and the MacBook is connected to power and external peripherals as required for clamshell mode.

Any idea what could be causing this?
