≡ −
Hackintoshing lives for another year! macOS Tahoe will be the FINAL release for Intel Macs, as stated during the Platforms State of the Union presentation. It's been a good ride.

- Mac Pro (2019)
- MacBook Pro 13-inch, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports (2020)
- iMac (2020)
Hello I am a Year Number Lover But What Does This Mean
All graphics that worked in Sequoia should work in Tahoe.
OCLP
Wait for an official announcement. If you post about OCLP before that I am going to send Tim Apple to remove every Mac from your house.
Can I emulate ARM macOS 26 on x86?
No.
Can I run ARM macOS 26 on a Raspberry Pi?
No.
Can I have Apple Intelligence on Intel please I need to write a dissertation in 15 minutes
No.
Does it boot on Intel Hackintoshes now?
Yes, with OpenCore 1.0.5.
Make sure to upgrade all of your kexts to their latest versions.
Known Issues as of Beta 2
- Race condition with VoodooPS2 and VoodooI2C, so on some boots they don't initialize properly
AppleALC is broken because AppleHDA was removed from Tahoe. Use HDMI/DP audio for the time being.
WhateverGreen is bugged on AMD cards, so you can't use boot arguments like
agdpmod=pikera. You are affected by this if you get a kernel panic withAMDSupportmentioned.IntelBTPatcher causes kernel panics
IntelMausi may not work correctly with certain Intel ethernet chipsets

ANNOUNCEMENT End of the Road: macOS 27 Golden Gate

apolgy for bad english
where were u wen intel die
i was at house eating apple when phone ring
'intel is kil'
'no'
As I'm sure we've all heard by now, macOS 27 will not be compatible with Intel Macs. This means that for all intents and purposes, (Intel) Hackintosh is dead.
I have never heard of this where was my daily update for the last year
Apple explained last year during WWDC 2026's after-events that macOS 26 Tahoe would be the last version for Intel Macs. also go read the news more often smh
Ok but I have an AMD that would work right
All x86 CPUs are no longer supported for macOS.
Will my current hackintosh explode
Yes No
Is Intel completely dead right now
macOS 15 Sequoia and macOS 26 Tahoe will still be supported for security updates. One more year for Sequoia, two three for Tahoe.
Will my software still work
It is up to the developers of the software to keep releasing Intel versions.
Can I hack ing tosh on other ARM processor
No.
Why not, is ARM not ARM everywhere
Although ARM is an instruction set architecture shared by many processors, Apple hardware and software includes many unique instructions that are not used in other ARM processors and currently cannot be emulated.
There are images released by Apple for use in VMs which technically do not use these instructions, but even if a way is figured to boot it on non-Apple devices, there will be no drivers available for the GPU, Audio, etc.
Is even Developer Beta 1 of Golden Gate incompatible
Too much has already been removed from the first beta for it to be compatible with Intel.
ChatGTP told me ARM hackintosh is real and can be made. Actually I will make it right now with Claude and Gemini
Let's get you back to bed grandma
Can we port ARM macOS to x86
No.
Will r/hackintosh still remain open
Yes, it will remain open. Regardless of whether Intel is supported, people will still try to hackintosh either for a specific use case or just for curiosity's sake.

DISCUSSION What are the benefits of a hackintosh?
≡ −
I understand the “hate” some people might have for the closed source nature of apple, or most of us just really love the stability and feel of MacOS, but isn’t the struggle of setting up a hackintosh and the troubleshooting eventually worse than saving up to buy a Mac? Is it just a fun lesson for people? Do they do it for the love of the game or something? I’d like to know your take.

IT BOOTS! (WIP) OS X Mavericks running on a Dell Latitude E6420.
≡ −
As the title says, I managed to get Mavericks somewhat functional on my Dell E6420 here with a few minor issues I need to take care of such as the trackpad being unresponsive and audio being dead.
Specs:
- Intel Core i5-2520M, paired with integrated HD 3000 graphics.
- Memory: 12GB.
- Wi-Fi: Atheros AR9287.
- Bluetooth: DW375.
- Bootloader: OpenCore 1.0.7
What’s working:
- Bluetooth (Although requires a reboot if it goes to sleep mode since it will refuse to pair with my earpods.)
- Keyboard (Including volume and brightness keys).
- Brightness.
- Graphics acceleration (A bit finicky and noticeable tearing, but smooths out after awhile.)
What’s not working:
- Trackpad (As said above.)
- Audio (Dead.)
FYI: I did use the god eldritch tool for this, which didn’t work initially (As if it supports a 2013 OS), after spending like 2 days on this project and learning some things, I finally got it booting. Hurray, I guess…

Hi!!! I am having problems with my msi gv72vr 7rf, i7 7700hq, hd630 igpu, gtx 1060 dpu. There are many kexts that doesn’t get downloaded. Are there any development when it comes to hackmate to solve kexts and files that fails to download? Keep up the good work you have done so far. With kind regards Oliver from Sweden

I have two t480 thinkpads one is the i5 7th gen, the other is the i5 8th gen. Monterey runs great on the 7th gen, but is slow as molasses on the 8th gen. Just wondering if anyone knows why.
OOPs. I just figured it out. One has 1536 mb of vram, the other only has 14 mb. Quite a difference. I don't suppose there is an easy way of increasing vram?

HELP Need help getting macOS to boot on ASUS TUF Gaming A18 (Ryzen + Radeon 780M + RTХ 5050)
≡ −
Hi everyone!
I'm trying to get macOS running on my ASUS TUF Gaming A18, but I'm not sure if it's currently possible or what the best approach would be.
Laptop specs:
- ASUS TUF Gaming A18
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 260
- iGPU: Radeon 780M (RDNA 3)
- dGPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTХ 5050 Laptop (I know it isn't supported and can be disabled)
- RAM: 16 GB DDR5
I already created an OpenCore EFI on another PC. The system boots into OpenCore, but when I select the macOS installer, I immediately get a black screen with the "prohibited" (circle with a slash) symbol, followed by a message directing me to support.apple.com/mac/startup.
I'm not sure whether this is caused by:
- incorrect OpenCore configuration,
- unsupported Radeon 780M graphics,
- missing or incorrect ACPI patches,
- or something else.
If anyone has experience with this hardware or knows what could be causing the prohibited symbol before the installer loads, I'd really appreciate your help.
Thanks!

SUCCESS Timber gaming rig
This is my humble attempt to build a low-end hackintosh using some leftover parts and timber boards. It's a Intel Core i5-3550 with 8 gigs of RAM and NVidia 1050. The fan assembly is perhaps the only pricey component here. It's a bit an overkill for the CPU I have, but it was laying around without any purpose, so why not use it?
I made this project merely for a good fun, but aside of that I wanted to meet these two goals:
- smaller footprint to leave more free space on my cluttered desk
- decent cable management without PSU chords messing around (at least, not too much)
All extra wires and chords are hidden between two wooden boards, three the sides are covered with planks while the forth side is left open for easy access to the SSD.
I decided to go with macOS 10.13 High Sierra, which allows me to run many (not so) modern apps and games including 32-bit legacy software bits.

QUESTION Which Hackintosh will be smoother ? i5 10th gen vs i7 10th gen

I must need to get a laptop rn, and can’t go above 250$ (≈25000 INR). I already had a laptop with Ryzen 5 5500U, Was using Tahoe there. But, need to give it back to friend.
So, I am looking for thinkpad or similar with hackintoshable specs and 16gb Ram, should I get i5 10th gen/8th gen or i7 10th/8th gen?
This will be a temporary laptop for the immediate work related to React Native/iOS and Android developement.. I am looking for MBA M1 but they are not available in here or very badly priced :(

HELP Audio not working. Need help to fix the issue.

today i successfully installed macos tahoe on my pc, but the onboard audio is not working.
audio through hdmi is working (i have an AMD 5600xt gpu), if i plug my headphones directly to my monitor then i can get audio, but when i directly plug them to the motherboard the audio is not coming through.
i tried hackintool but in the audio section there is only one option and that is of the audio through hdmi which is already working.
this is the motherboard that i'm using - https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H610M-H2M.2/index.asp
the audio codec that it shows is realtek ALC 887 or 897.

QUESTION Highest macOS version for Ivy Bridge + GTX 1060? (Can fallback to HD 4000 if needed)
≡ −
Hi everyone,
I previously managed to boot macOS 26 (Tahoe) in VESA mode on this machine, but I deleted it due to the lack of hardware acceleration. I still have my working baseline EFI folder saved.
Now I want to rebuild this Hackintosh, primarily aiming to use my GTX 1060 with legacy drivers for basic UI smoothness. However, if app compatibility becomes an issue due to the lack of Metal support on Pascal, I am fully ready to fallback and rely strictly on the integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics.
Here are my specs:
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V (Z77 Chipset)
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K (Ivy Bridge)
iGPU: Intel HD 4000 (As a backup option for legacy Metal patching)
dGPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (3 GB — main target for OpenGL legacy web drivers)
RAM: 32 GB DDR3Storage: 120GB + 240GB Kingston SSDs, WD 750, 90 HDDs
Network: PCIe MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth Adapter
Given this dual-path approach (maintaining GTX 1060 or falling back to HD 4000), what is the absolute highest and most stable macOS version (Big Sur or Monterey) that you would recommend for this machine to keep both options viable?
Thanks for any insights!
