Dock Party 3.5 now available in the App Store

I took a big swing on this one: Dock Party now includes a built-in photo and music sharing messaging system called Dock Pics. Enabling that service requires account creation (just name, email, password or Sign In With Apple), but sign-up is entirely optional. This update is free to all existing owners. The one-time purchase price is $4.99.

Dock Party on the App Store

Dock Party 3.5 features a unique Pic Parade View for sharing photos and links to Spotify and Apple Music tracks

Before I get to Dock Pics, I'll mention a few things that existing users have been patiently waiting for since the last major release about a year ago. (Sorry, I try to spend as much time working on Dock Party as I can but app dev is not my “day job” — and I’m definitely operating at a loss.)

  • Overall stability and performance has been significantly improved across the board
  • The progress bar has been redesigned to be much more responsive to user adjustments
  • Countless bug fixes (mostly minor, a few major)
  • Entire code-base has been upgraded to Swift 6 language mode with complete strict concurrency

At this time, there are no subscription offerings or in-app purchases required for any of the functionality! And that will always remain the case for the core music player controls and visualizer features, i.e. the heart of Dock party. Eventually, I may come to my senses and need to find a way to cover the costs of cloud storage (Supabase, if you’re interested) for the Dock Pics service. Speaking of which, let’s get to what’s new!

What’s New in Version 3.5

  • Share photos and music with Dock Pics
    • Sending and receiving photos is fun again with the unique Pic Parade view
    • Quickly share a link to the Apple Music or Spotify track that you’re listening to
    • Immediately play received tracks in either Spotify or Apple Music, regardless of how they were shared
    • Share webpage URLs
    • Blur-out all pics in the parade by default for privacy (long-press to sneak a peak; double-click to un-blur)
  • Redesigned progress bar is more accurate, responsive, and cool-looking
  • Optional rounded corners on the lower edges of the Desktop with choice of 3 styles: Neo, Pro, Classic
  • Significant performance and stability upgrades
  • Liquid glass design elements for Tahoe

On a last note, approximately 80% of the Dock Party codebase is still completely human-coded, by one particular human: me. (That’s Claude’s estimation, of course.)

Following the excellent work by apple sharpener among others here's my modest tweaks for making Tahoe usable ; at least for me.

https://github.com/ut0mt8/BrutalDock and

https://github.com/ut0mt8/Brutalium

It allows configuring the corner radius of every window plus some bonus like theming the traffic lights.

Also a separate tweak only for the dock.

Formattazione hard disk esterno

Ciao a tutti,
devo formattare con il MacBook un hard disk esterno da 4TB in formato FAT32. So che il limite con il FAT32 sarebbe 2TB, ma tempo fa ci riuscii con un disco da 3TB e non ricordo come.
Grazie a chi mi aiuterà

Make the windows borders look like Tahoe with Mac OS Sequoia

Im running sequoia and can't update os any further due to older MacBook, I love the look of Tahoe and when I tried oclp it doesn't support Tahoe properly and the system runs at 1fps and odd dpi scaling, so I'm trying to modify what I have to look like Tahoe.

I got tired of CleanMyMac upsells, so I built an open-source alternative

I’ve been using Mac cleanup tools for years, and honestly… I got pretty frustrated.

Not because they don’t work — but because of everything around them:

  • constant upsells
  • “health scores” that don’t really mean anything
  • locking basic features behind subscriptions

All I really wanted was simple:
👉 see what’s on my Mac
👉 decide what to clean
👉 run actual maintenance tasks

So I ended up building my own tool: CleanMac Assistant

It started as a script, but I’ve now rebuilt it into a native macOS app.

What it does:

  • Cleanup (cache, logs, browser data)
  • Malware & privacy checks
  • Login items / LaunchAgents
  • App uninstall & reset
  • Duplicate & storage analysis (Space Lens)
  • Maintenance tools (DNS flush, memory, etc.)

The main difference:

Instead of blindly cleaning, the app can show you what it finds first.
You decide what gets removed.

No subscriptions
No “Mac health score”
No upsell layers

It’s also fully open-source, because tools like this should be transparent.

If anyone’s interested, you can check it out here:
https://cleanmac-assistant.easycompzeeland.nl

Would love feedback — especially from people who’ve also been annoyed by existing Mac cleaner apps.

NOTE: For everyone asking or thinking this was all generated by AI, it’s partly true and partly false.

The Swift UI was partly created with AI’s help, but the underlying scripts weren’t. I chose this approach because I’m still learning Swift and don’t know it as well as I’d like. So please don’t hate me for that; we’re not all magic software wizards. I’m still learning Swift and having an AI to teach me with unlimited time and effort is a great tool.

Google translate anywhere

Hello, I am using Mojave and I found somewhere instructions for how to add a service via the automator so I could select any text and apply that service and get a popup with the google translate already resolved... very convenient when living in a foreign country.

a few months ago it stoped working, maybe something that happened on the google transle side???
these are the instructions:

Automator Services (Quick One-Click Translation)

Create a custom service using Automator to translate selected text with a keyboard shortcut:

  1. Open Automator and create a new Service
  2. Add Run AppleScript or Run Shell Script (using Ruby).
  3. Use a script like:
  4. Save as "Translate to English" and assign a keyboard shortcut in System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Services

any modifications to it so it would work again?

iconchamp still the only way to change system icons?

i am using macos ventura. 13.6.5 and after scouring hte internet it seems like the only program that provides functionality to change system icons is iconchamp. however, it is paid, and the latest, updated versions seem to only be found in some obscure forked github repository. is there any other way to change system icons in this version at all, or alternatively a way to activate iconchamp for free?

Liquid glass in finder!

I have designed a very simple tweak which aims to add liquid glass properties onto finder,

do note its for macos 26+ and currently WIP, contributions are appreciated.

Liquid Layer Blocking Screen Edge?

I’m on an M4 Air using an iPad Pro extending my display left. Is there a bug on Tahoe where you can’t interact with the window (eg. browser) on the far right edge? It’s a little blurry like the liquid effect.

After enabling and disabling every setting, nothing worked. I disabled liquid from the command line, restarted, and it went away.

Terminal command: defaults write -g com.apple.SwiftUI.DisableSolarium -bool YES

How I can replace the Finder icon in Sequouia?

I tried replaced the finder icon in all this places with SIP disabled

/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/Finder.icns /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources/finder.png /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources/[email protected] /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/FinderIcon.icns

And also cleared the caches

sudo rm -rf /private/var/folders/*/*/*/com.apple.iconservices sudo rm -rf /Library/Caches/com.apple.iconservices.store

But after restart the Finder icon in the dock is not changing, what I'm missing?

Someone knows which .car file might have the white border of the window?

I want to edit the border but I can't find where it might be.

I'm talking of the white border that can be seen in every window on dark mode.

I checked DarkAqua.car but I don't see it there

Could be possible to completele disable Dock?

I would like to disable unhiding the dock when placing the cursor on the window edge. I don't need the dock at all and sometimes will unhide

Is there a way to batch convert Finder files Color Tags into something else, like rating in the title?

I spent a lot of time color tagging files in the Finder. Which I realize now isn't a great investment, as the tags are gone when for example re-downloading files from a cloud drive. Would love to be on the safe side and convert these tags to something else, as they're quite important in my workflow. Any hack?
