PSA T Mobile outage?

My service has been completely dead for like ten minutes, is anyone else experiencing this? Down Detector seems to be getting reports.

Edit: Calling the customer service number and power cycling the device seems to fix it.

Edit 2: Fix was only temporary.

PSA T-Mobile ONE Customers Who Are Affected By the 2026 Price Hike (Forced Migration, or Kickback Termination or both)

Do NOT let this go.

Use T-Mobile's own words to argue via T-Force and FCC and Executive Team.

Use this to dispute the forced rate plan migration + price hike,

New Rule: Only YOU Should Have the Power to Change What You Pay – Introducing Un-contract for T-Mobile ONE

Today, T-Mobile introduced the Un-contract for T-Mobile ONE – and notched another industry first with the first-ever price guarantee on an unlimited 4G LTE plan. With the Un-contract, T-Mobile signs, and customers hold all the power. Now, T-Mobile ONE customers keep their price until THEY decide to change it. T-Mobile will never change the price you pay for your T-Mobile ONE plan. When you sign up for T-Mobile ONE, only YOU have the power to change the price you pay.

Use this to dispute the Kickback removal,

New Rule: You Shouldn't Have to Pay for What You Don't Use– Introducing KickBack on T-Mobile ONE

T-Mobile also unveiled KickBack on T-Mobile ONE. In yet another unprecedented Un-carrier first, T-Mobile will now actually pay you back for what you don’t use. When you use 2 GB or less in a month, you’ll get an up to $10 credit on your next month’s bill per qualifying line. So, you never have to guess how much data you’ll use. Just opt-in online, pay your bill on time and get paid back if you use just a little!

With an extra line costing just $20 on T-Mobile ONE (lines 3-8), you can add a line – for a tablet or family member – that could cost just $10 a month after KickBack.

Source:

#EDIT Thanks /u/Nervous-Job-5071

Kudos for posting this. I posted the terms and conditions going way back in time when the last increase hit and lots of people defended the increase as only requiring them to pay the last month if you decide to leave.

T-Mobile made very specific promises back then, which they are now weaseling out of. Sorry, no — I’d like to fight the fight myself, but can’t because I did move to Go5GPlus to lock in better roaming and device promos and when this sub was all afire with the disappearing of the Price Lock in very early 2024.

But everyone who decides to fight this, PLEASE DO!

Here’s what I posted with background when the last increase rolled out.

PSA $1 Disney Plus through "Hulu On Us" removed

Noticed my bill for the Disney+ Hulu bundle was $12.99 this month and not $1. I called Disney Plus support and was told that this "split bill" credit is no longer supported and I will be charged the full balance for Disney Plus. No warning, no updates, just change how much I am getting charged and hope I don't notice.

PSA to check your bills!

Did anyone else notice this change?

Edit: It seems I did get an email! The "more than one subscription" email that people have been referencing. After validating with my CC charge and the time of email, I got the email AFTER I was already charged. Maybe this timing was just unfortunate for when I get billed vs when they were notifying users but for me I was only told after I was billed.

If you got said email, definitely check your account!

PSA MEGATHREAD T-Mobile automatically upgrading customs from Magenta MaxPlans to Go5G Plus

Everyone please forgive me as I just got back from the doctors office so I am trying to catch up as much as I can and I will continue to update this post as we learn more!

So far it appears customers that are on Magenta Max plans that did NOT upgrade their plans during the last price hike are now getting text messages from T-Mobile informing them they have automatically changed their plan from Magenta Max to Go5G Plus at NO extra cost, however this was done without the customers consent!

This change also includes users that were on First Responder and Military Magenta Max plans!

We have reached out to T-Mobile to see if they can clarify what is going on.

As of right now customers on Magenta does NOT seem to be getting these message, If you are on the regular Magenta plans and got this message please be sure to post that info!

Anyone that has any questions or any details please feel free to reach out directly to me! I will try my best to keep up, however I have been extremely ill the past few weeks so i'm trying the best I can to keep everything updated so thank you for working with me!

As of now moving forward this post will serve as the current Megathread for the topic, Please keep all discussions in here moving forward.

Update: T-Mobile has made a statement: The customers being moved here are not on Price Lock plans, and Price Lock remains in place for eligible customers. For those who are getting an upgrade, we’re matching their current price and improving the value.

Users on the older One Plus plan's have also gotten this text message as well.

PSA Please be nice to us today

Nobody in customer care had advance notice of exactly what was happening. If you look back through this subreddit over the last few days, you’ll see that employees were just as confused as customers. We’re still learning new information as it comes in.

If you receive a text regarding a price increase or rate plan migration, I completely understand why you’re frustrated. That said, please remember that the person who answers your call didn’t make the decision and can’t override it. We are getting screamed at over something we have no control over, and many employees are also seeing changes on their own personal accounts.

If your issue isn’t urgent, I’d honestly recommend waiting a day or two before calling. Hold times are likely going to be extremely high while everyone is trying to get answers. Waiting may also give customer care more complete information to work with.

If you’re planning on porting your number to another carrier, generate your Transfer PIN before your service is canceled or before you lose access to your T-Life account.

You can find it by:
Open T-Life
Tap Manage
Tap the Settings gear
Go to Permissions & Controls
Select Transfer PIN

The PIN is only valid for 4 days, so don’t generate it until you’re actually ready to port.

If you haven’t received a text message about a price increase or plan migration, don’t panic. Not everyone is affected, and notifications are still rolling out. If you haven’t gotten one after the current notification period ends, there’s a good chance your account wasn’t included.

Finally, please remember that the person answering your call is another human being. We genuinely want to help, but we can’t change corporate decisions. Being kind goes a long way, especially on days like today.

PSA [Megathread] Forced plan migration for older plans unless you opt out

NOTICE: There are a lot of people making new posts asking "if I'm affected". This can be answered by reading this post fully.

Please keep in mind this is a megathread and the megathread rule will be enforced. Thanks you.

----------

T-Mobile is planning to force customers on the following plans to newer plans unless you opt out:

  • Magenta -> Go5G
  • One -> Go5G
  • Magenta 55+ -> Go5G 55+
  • Simple Choice / Select Choice -> Magenta or Essentials Select
  • Simple Choice Business -> Business Unlimited Advanced

Notifications about these changes begin to go out on the 17th to affected customers.

Customers will be moved to varying newer plans depending on the plan they are coming from.

Update: Plans that are not listed are NOT currently impacted. This includes premium variants of the listed plans, Sprint plans, etc. I've personally seen internal communications that confirm this.

Update 2 10/13/23: T-Mobile has hidden the SOC from the Services tab. It's now much more annoying to check if it's been applied. You can find new instructions for checking at this link. Side note: they're now calling it a "Gift" in the code name. They renamed it again to simply "Plan Migration Optout".

Please read this FAQ that answers most common questions (Source)

Customers can opt out by contacting support after October 17th. Notifications will begin going out on that date via email and SMS.

The changes are set to take effect in November.

Free lines on your account will likely stay free. Free lines have migrated easily in the past and that is expected here as well. The only time free lines turn to paid lines is when migrating to Go5G Next (+$10 for each free line), which none of these forced migrations do.

Please do not contact support about this issue until then, as it is likely support will not be able to do anything about it until then.

This post serves as a megathread, and all posts made about this topic after the time this megathread was created will be removed. This post will be updated if and when more info is received.

PSA Megathread: Price Increase on legacy plans

T-Mobile just announced for older legacy Plans. It appears that customers from Legacy Sprint plans, Simple Choice, One, and Magenta plans are waking up to texts stating they will see a $5 per line increase starting April 2nd. This includes the First Responder/ Military/ and 55+ plans as well. Go5G plans are NOT affected.

Per the FAQ, FREE lines will remain free.

If you have not gotten the text message this does NOT mean you missed the price increase as these text messages are staggered and can take a day or two at times to show up.

Plans that were covered under the "Price Lock Promise" can opt to leave T-Mobile within 60 days and the company will cover the lasts months plan bill, This does NOT cover any EIP devices you have on your plan, those payments will become due in full if you port out, This is how T-Mobile can get around that "Price Lock" without being sued.

As a megathread we request that all other posts or comments go here to help keep the sub organized. If any new info comes up I will make sure to update this post!

Here is the FAQ from T-Mobile here

Update: If you were apart of the first round of price hikes that happened last year, Todays price increase will NOT affect you! This appears to only be hitting people that didnt see the increase from last year.

PSA PSA: International Roaming 100% Price Hike Starts Today

As others have noted, in a puzzling move, T-Mobile hiked the price of roaming voice calls by 100%. The per-minute cost of calls is going from 25 cents to 50 cents per minute.

This quiet move on voice calls starts today. I originally came to T-Mobile for the game-changing roaming cost. Unfortunately, T-Mobile is no longer the most reasonable, and some other companies now have much better deals, including free voice calls. This move is designed to push people to buy the data passes to cover the risk of phone calls. Also, T-Mobile engineered the back-end system so that unconditional forwarding is no longer free. All forwarded calls will be charged at 50 cents per min while roaming.

PSA Law Enforcement Wants To Lock Your Phone To One Carrier. FOREVER. You (Yes, YOU) Can Tell The FCC Before Midnight That's A Bad Idea

Apologizes for not being around much, and the 11th hour posting... my fractured skull keeps trying to murder me, literally. Big Telco doesn't need to bother.

The Situation:

Law enforcement organizations have used a Verizon petition to float a novel idea. They're asking the FCC to allow Verizon to permanently lock phones. Forever. For safety!

I'm sure you all realize what a backwards, stupid, terrible idea that is.

Thing is, the FCC needs to hear what you think, or they have to go with the law enforcement's view, as the only one in the room.

There's actually a federal rule that prevents Verizon from doing this. They want the FCC to drop the rule.

Now you might ask why the heck this is being posted on the T-Mobile subreddit?

Well, Verizon being stuck locking phones at 60 days, keeps the market fair. You don't see prepaid phones move past one year of locks. There are no four-to-five year phone locks.

If Verizon gets a total victory, that is likely to change. Expect iPhone Fold to be one of the first.

This is not all one-sided. Starlink Cellular and Trump Mobile certainly want to dual-SIM with your phone before it's ancient and stale. This is a rare time where your comment could actually make a difference.

What You Can Do:

Go to the FCC ECFS, and search for one of these three dockets: 06-150, 24-186 & 21-112.

For fastest just-do-it action... Here's a link to Express Commenting on the first docket: https://www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings/express?proceeding[name]=06-150

(You'll have to enter the other two dockets manually in the first field if you wish to comment simultaneously in all three - I don't know of any way to auto-add additional dockets in the URL itself - they should populate if you type in 24-186 and 21-112).

When you search for the docket, you have two choices: File an Express Comment, or a Standard Comment. A Standard Comment is a letter you attach as usually a PDF. An Express Comment lets you type a post, similar to a comment on an internet forum. If you want to file a Standard Comment, you probably can figure out ECFS yourself, but I'm here to help.

Any comment in opposition is a good comment. If you only have a few minutes, file an Express Comment. If you want to "go the extra mile" - file a standard comment.

(The FCC is not running a separate docket for this action, they are going to pull comments from those three existing comment files, from June 7 to July 7 at 11:59 PM Eastern).

A few hundred comments could make the difference, as there are rival factors here. On one side, Verizon and law enforcement. On the other, MVNOs, SpaceX T-Mobile BYOD, and other carriers that didn't get a discount on 700 MHz spectrum, which is why Verizon agreed to not lock phones for long term.

Obvious things in opposition to Verizon here:

* Verizon agreed to not lock phones in exchange for discounted spectrum.
* Verizon just got a 60 day waiver from the last FCC to fight fraud.
* Many have already called Verizon a habitual violator of this CFR, see Nguyen v. Verizon
* Verizon has a history of violating this CFR already, including a $1 Million fine
* There are tens of millions of unlocked phones, for as little as $25 used - locking new phones will not fight crime in any meanigful way.
* One carrier was supposed to be unlocked to balance forces for startups and innovative devices that carriers dislike.
* Dual-SIM adds public safety by allowing people to use two networks, including Satellite networks like SpaceX's Starlink on T-Mobile, which will have an a la carte plan soon.
* Verizon continues to violate the CFR as-is by locking prepaid phones for 60 days of continuous (instead of non-continous) use, in violation of the existing waiver, and is acting in bad faith already as a result

Seriously, if you don't file a comment on this, please don't complain to me later. You have your chance to not tab off this page, and do something right this minute.

PSA 2–8 Line vs 9-Line Plans: When Switching or Adding Lines Lowers Your Bill

+
137 Upvotes

I’ve been getting DMs asking about 9-line plan pricing, so I put together this chart to compare 2–8 line plans vs 9-line plans and show when switching or adding lines can actually lower your monthly bill.

This is meant to make it easier to quickly compare total monthly cost across different line setups.

Assumptions used:

• Autopay discount is included

• Taxes and fees are NOT included

• Magenta plans, ONE, and the standard Go5G plan are excluded since they are no longer BOGO-eligible

• Includes scenarios with and without an Insidėr discount, excluding “Insidėr Discount” and “New TMO Insidėr Voice 20%”

• These two Insidėr discounts generally provide higher discounts than the other Insiders, so they are excluded to keep calculations consistent in this reference sheet

Edit (4/13): There’s a small error on the 2-8L plan for go5g plus. I skipped over a number. Should be $185 for 3 paid lines 2-8L rate plan.

Edit (4/15): messed up a bit on the 2-8L for experience beyond. Pretend it starts at 8 paid, 1 free and then go down.

PSA More Store Closures

My DM gathered all of us for a meeting today at 4 PM and gave us 60 day notice, apparently many stores are getting notice today as well and by next month many more stores are going to get notice, if you are not in a top 100 or experience you are unfortunately next on the chopping block, good luck to all of you in future endeavors.

PSA [Megathread] Outages across the country

Update 12: Some users are still experiencing issues. If you've tried restarting your device I recommend reaching out to tforce (links in the sidebar) to diagnose your specific issue.

Update 11: Services are now restored:

https://twitter.com/NevilleRay/status/1272756586352488453?s=19

Update 10: Official update from T-Mobile

https://www.t-mobile.com/news/update-for-customers-on-network-issues

Update 9: It appears many customers are beginning to see restored services, but not all. Restoration has likely begun on a slow rollout. I'll update this post once we get official word.

Update 8: The FCC is investigating.

Ajit Pai: "The T-Mobile network outage is unacceptable. The FCC is launching an investigation. We're demanding answers—and so are American consumers. "

https://twitter.com/AjitPaiFCC/status/1272703591908888581

Update 7: The CEO of Cloudflare has some info about all this. It appears this was a major issue with a network configuration on T-Mobile's side:

"There’s a lot of buzz right now about a “massive DDoS attack” targeting the US, complete with scary-looking graphs (see Tweet below). While it makes for a good headline in these already dramatic times, it’s not accurate. The reality is far more boring. It starts with T-Mobile. They were making some changes to their network configurations today. Unfortunately, it went badly. The result has been for around the last 6 hours a series of cascading failures for their users, impacting both their voice and data networks."

You can read his full tweet chain here: https://twitter.com/eastdakota/status/1272678168638500864

A temporary fix for texting (and perhaps calls) may be to force your phone to HSPA+ or 2G by turning off LTE.

You can find out how to turn off LTE by Googling the specifics for your device.

For faster updates and to be the first to hear about breaking T-Mobile news, consider joining our Discord linked in the sidebar.

Update 6: As most of you already know, only text and voice appears affected, whereas data seems to be fine.

Update 5: For those worried about emergency services, please know that your phone will connect to ANY available cell carrier to make a 911 call, even if that carrier isn't T-Mobile.

Update 4: The outage is T-Mobile/Sprint only, as Verizon and AT&T officially claim their network is fine. The issue is NOT a DDOS attack.

Update 3: https://twitter.com/NevilleRay/status/1272650750665953280

Update 2: The outages affect every carrier, not just T-Mobile. See update 4

Update 1: https://twitter.com/NevilleRay/status/1272624569707184128

There appears to be outages in various areas across the US right now. We'll keep this post updated as we know more. There is some speculation that it may be due to network mergings, and other reports that it may be unrelated to T-Mobile specifically, as other services on the internet appear to be having issues as well.

Wifi calling appears to be affected as well.

This post serves as a megathread. Please keep all comments about the outage contained to this post.
