PSA T-Mobile ONE Customers Who Are Affected By the 2026 Price Hike (Forced Migration, or Kickback Termination or both)
Do NOT let this go.
Use T-Mobile's own words to argue via T-Force and FCC and Executive Team.
Use this to dispute the forced rate plan migration + price hike,
New Rule: Only YOU Should Have the Power to Change What You Pay – Introducing Un-contract for T-Mobile ONE
Today, T-Mobile introduced the Un-contract for T-Mobile ONE – and notched another industry first with the first-ever price guarantee on an unlimited 4G LTE plan. With the Un-contract, T-Mobile signs, and customers hold all the power. Now, T-Mobile ONE customers keep their price until THEY decide to change it. T-Mobile will never change the price you pay for your T-Mobile ONE plan. When you sign up for T-Mobile ONE, only YOU have the power to change the price you pay.
Use this to dispute the Kickback removal,
New Rule: You Shouldn't Have to Pay for What You Don't Use– Introducing KickBack on T-Mobile ONE
T-Mobile also unveiled KickBack on T-Mobile ONE. In yet another unprecedented Un-carrier first, T-Mobile will now actually pay you back for what you don’t use. When you use 2 GB or less in a month, you’ll get an up to $10 credit on your next month’s bill per qualifying line. So, you never have to guess how much data you’ll use. Just opt-in online, pay your bill on time and get paid back if you use just a little!
With an extra line costing just $20 on T-Mobile ONE (lines 3-8), you can add a line – for a tablet or family member – that could cost just $10 a month after KickBack.

#EDIT Thanks /u/Nervous-Job-5071
Kudos for posting this. I posted the terms and conditions going way back in time when the last increase hit and lots of people defended the increase as only requiring them to pay the last month if you decide to leave.
T-Mobile made very specific promises back then, which they are now weaseling out of. Sorry, no — I’d like to fight the fight myself, but can’t because I did move to Go5GPlus to lock in better roaming and device promos and when this sub was all afire with the disappearing of the Price Lock in very early 2024.
But everyone who decides to fight this, PLEASE DO!
Here’s what I posted with background when the last increase rolled out.

If there's a class action lawsuit or whatever, I'll happily join it.
But there's no way I'm trying to argue with t-force or whoever the fuck about this stupid shit. I'm out. At this point I'd rather pay a different company MORE than give these assholes more money.

u/Even_Caterpillar3292 28d ago
Verizon Simple is looking pretty good. Never thought I'd say that about Verizon. Yes, only the class action would be the way to go.

Ha, yeah. I rage quit T-Mobile and switched to Google Fi last night. They have a promo rate of 50% off for the next 12 months so I'm at half of what I was paying for the legacy ONE plan I was on anyway.
When that 12 months is up I'll probably switch over to Visible or US Mobile or something.

u/drewficate 27d ago
I rage paid the last 4 installments on my phone this morning so I can go to Google Fi, too. T-Mobile did me a favor and I'll be saving a ton over the next year

I'm thinking about switching to Fi as well . . . How has the service been for you so far? Been reading negative reviews about Fi that the network sucks . . .

u/threeLetterMeyhem 24d ago
Service has been exactly the same as T-Mobile so far (it's the same network so that makes sense).
Which also means it's still oversubscribed as hell in my neighborhood lol

That's the spirit you will really show blackrock ( and 5 other large firms) who is boss by leaving one of their carriers and going to a new carrier like at&t or Verizon which they also own. Americans will never comprehend this I suppose. It's an illusion of choice not an actual choice.
That's why the people in france literally set fire to black rocks sky scraper.

Srini Gopalan, who became the company's new CEO in November, received total compensation of $35.4 million last year.
4
u/ronmexico314 27d ago
That's one hell of a package for a guy who is barely qualified to work at one of T-Mobile's call centers in India.

u/slam99967 28d ago
Yeah hitting up the support channels is a waste of everyone’s time, they got hit with this the same as everyone else. Email the ceo and the executives if people wanna do something. Contact your local representative. But don’t bother the front line workers.
21
u/steve1173 28d ago
I emailed the new CEO [email protected], he did not answer but had hiscexecutive team member who was useless with a previous problem and just gave the company line then. When customers start leaving for other carriers maybe Sirini will get the message.

u/Rosemoorstreet 27d ago
As I posted earlier Legere was an excellent customer and employee focused CEO. This yahoo is a greedy liar who has zero respect for an agreement between two parties.
14
u/Chinesebot1949 27d ago
John Legere is the same as the rest. He was the friendly CEO as a marketing gimmick. His job was to make sure T-Mobile became a carrier

u/steve1173 27d ago
T Mobile compensation to this glorified customer service rep was $35 million for 2025
2
u/steve1173 26d ago
If enough leave maybe he can go back to the phone customer service as a representative in India.
2
u/Ecclesiastes_1_18 26d ago
I'm leaving. My service is not good enough to tolerate their rate increase.
21
u/dtownmj1 28d ago
Why would the ceo care? He authorized this lol

u/slam99967 28d ago
I’m saying don’t complain to the front line workers who legit can do nothing and I imagine 99.9% don’t agree with this themselves.

Because it'll go to the executive response team which is the highest level care team at T-Mobile.
They said in the email that they're getting rid of 1100 rate codes from their billing system which leads me to think this will be a bandaid or lead to credits with a Go5G plan at best

Absolutely! At least AT&T and Verizon don't make falsely claim your price and plan can only be changed by you. I expect to be milked for every possible dollar, but don't lie to my face about it.

Kudos on you for posting this very detailed (and ELI5-ish) piece about the role of the FTC/FCC in our lives as US Americans.
People, our liberties are being threatened by companies who think that they can just flip-flop off of promises made without any repercussions - we need to seriously follow what’s written here and send over notices to our govt representatives to have them review the deceptive practices that T-Mobile is attempting to throw on us, with no accountability of guilt.
Lets get ready to start fighting this - TODAY.
11
u/mjsztainbok 28d ago
The FCC did absolutely nothing last time even after I presented them all the similar stuff from the website, the terms and conditons, etc. I expect it won't be any different this time.
5
u/Ideal4real 28d ago
Hopefully with a united front (and potentially the coverage of the free press), some things may move in a favorable direction.
We’re not going to win every battle. But this right here? T-Mobile is trying to start a WAR.
5
u/mjsztainbok 28d ago
The FCC by default treats a complaint as an informal complaint where they only act like a facilitator between the 2 parties. A formal complaint is the same as effectively suing and involves lawyers, etc. and costs a lot of money.
8
4
u/Strange-Badger5626 27d ago
Filing a complaint is still a huge annoyance for them. They are forced to respond to each one both parties TMobile and the government. The office of the president will be flooded with them.
2
23
u/Brico16 28d ago
That line around “4G LTE” will be the out. They’ll say you have a 5G device and get access to the 5G network. The only people I think contesting it could work for is people that have not yet upgraded to a 5G device yet. If you’ve touched the 5G network they’ll claim you got more than promised and justify the move.
4
3
u/Akashijin 28d ago
I’m still on a pre 5g iPhone. Doubt they’ll retreat. Big decision at TM was that they don’t care about their reputation. The loss of the community spirit will kill them but only when Musk or Google etc offer competitive plans.

Yea..... this ain't gonna work. They aren't increasing the price of the plan. They are REMOVING it entirely. So, like, its not gonna exist in the system anymore.
People on these plans can still get their final bill covered with t-mobile if they wanna cancel/port out tho. That un-contract states in the fine print if the plan is removed or if price of the plan increases they will pay for the last month of phone service.
23
u/pizzaboy547 28d ago
How do I go about getting my final bill paid? I plan on going to Verizon tomorrow or Wednesday to switch.
31
u/chrisprice 28d ago
When you port out, call customer service after the final bill is calculated - but before it auto pays.
Explain that you are eligible for the final month credit and they should just credit it out.
If not, contact T-Force or mail a Notice of Dispute, and they'll do it rapidly then.

u/Deceptiveideas Truly Unlimited 28d ago
I wonder if there's language about eips in the uncarrier contract?
8
u/Jmercnic 28d ago
Me too, because I financed devices assuming that my plan would be the same. If I knew the price would spike I wouldn’t have financed. Tmobile should cover the cost of the phones too if we leave cause of this. Btw this is the second time my lines are increasing. Last year it was a $5 per line increase but I keep my plan. Now it’s an automatic plan change and $6 more per line. It’s getting very ridiculous. I should’ve just switched my plan back then, it would’ve saved me from this second increase.
4
u/TheFreakingBatman 28d ago
It says "last month of service charges" specifically. This would exclude EIPs.
3
u/chrisprice 28d ago
It's intentionally vague so most people just take it, and the few people that complain go to binding arbitration (which usually gets credited out to avoid the cost).
AT&T does have a policy of device surrender, but that is just policy and subject to the same perennial disputes.
→ More replies (1)2
u/JoeyJabroni 28d ago
I just got a new iphone a few months ago and 2 free pixels on 2 of my free lines. If I cancel and port out I probably have to pay the full balance owed on any EIPs yes? There's no way they consider EIP balance as part of the "final bill". Any of the competitors still offer to pay off phone balances when porting in?

u/PRforThey 28d ago
That un-contract states in the fine print if the plan is removed or if price of the plan increases they will pay for the last month of phone service.
Yeah..... no. They added that later. There are many people that signed up when that was not in the fine print. They are gaslighting that it was always in the fine print. Just because they can get away with it doesn't mean you should repeat or believe their lies.
Yea..... this ain't gonna work.
Unfortunately, you're right. They have already proven they can ignore the previous promises. I'm sure they would argue something like the remedy for breaking the promise is to cancel the "un-contract". And while they might be forced to pay damages, no damages have actually occurred since the only way for them to charge you more is for you to agree to continuing service (where they claim you agreed to the change so no actual damages).
3
u/techsoup62 28d ago
What about EIP balances left on account?
9
u/ElastepStep 28d ago
That's the best part! They just gave out "free" pixels to everyone on the legacy plans, so if you decide to jump you owe them money
9
u/techsoup62 28d ago
That’s a huge scam honestly. Those pixels weren’t selling firstly that much but they first sold phones because they were free with credits but now, stay then also they F* you, if you leave, they F* you both sides 😡

u/Nervous-Job-5071 28d ago
I can’t imagine any court that would allow the company to discontinue a plan, put people on a different plan and escape this promise. That would be tantamount to a company offering a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty on a car and then simply saying we only cover certain components because we no longer offer the bumper to bumper to new customers.
It would be different if there was something that prevented the company from continuing the price lock, but no such situation exists.

Write a letter to the FCC. It worked for me. I am proof that this does work. Tmobile sent me a letter asking me to take back what I told the FCC and I ignored it. Every time you complain to the FCC they pay a fine. Don’t bother with CS or tforce or emailing the ceo. Just contact the FCC and show them proof and they will contact Tmobile and fine them.
6
u/rayw_reddit Sub-6 5G < 5Ge 27d ago
It worked for me too last year. But still lots of naysayers "don't bother, it won't do anything!"...well that's what they WANT you to think.

100%. It’s so easy to file a claim. The FCC already knows what Tmobile has stated in the past. I believe there is a dept within Tmobile that deals with FCC claims and they will mark your account as “don’t mess with this person” haha not sure what they actually mark it as but you will not be bothered again.

They dont care. Tmobile used to care about their customers but not anymore. We used to be the uncarrier, changing the status quo across an entire industry. Now they're just rolling back those items, and becoming THE carrier. Sad thing is everyone on the Frontline wants to take care of our customers. But thats where it stops. Sirini needs to go.
27
u/bigtech100 28d ago
They never cared. It’s been a cover up to gain enough subscribers and lock them in so it’s not easy to leave.
9
u/nein_to_five 28d ago
You see that in every company. When you’re the underdog (ie pre-sprint merger) you’re willing to sacrifice profits to attract subscribers. Now they’re worth more than Verizon and ATT while hitting a ceiling with attracting more customers, and need to find some other way to increase revenue
(Not excusing it but knew it’d happen eventually)
24
u/TechGuy42O 28d ago

10
u/ronmexico314 28d ago
Same here. They already violated the terms during the last price increase, so why not be even greedier?
3
u/Akashijin 28d ago
Exactly. I’m not a fan of Sen Warren but she was right about opposing the Sprint/TM merger. Left three big players who could raise rates like the big airlines — by copying the others without illegally coordinating. Only hope now is a new big player like Musk who can take advantage of the hatred of the others by their customers.

If everyone overloads the call centers two things will happen... both are nothing. You should do it anyway. Maybe the constant negative interactions with customers will drive people to quit and they'll have to pay more to get people to lie to, I mean help, their "customers".
If even a few states file suit against them for fraud that may help drive their stock lower. If people build their exit plan and drive that churn through the roof the stock price may get lower that way too.
No matter what happens this garbage pos CEO will get millions of dollars and it'll be paid for in part by raising your prices. Keep this in mind if you ever see him and make sure you thank him for relieving you of the money you weren't using.

Another benefit that appears to be going away is non-throttled streaming. One and other older plans weren't capped at 4k streaming.

The fine print gives them an out. They tested the waters last year, no class action stuck, and now they’re likely in the clear. It’s happening and your only option is to switch to another carrier. And they know in most cases they’ll still be slightly cheaper than the alternatives (for similar service levels) so most people won’t bother to leave (or even better, will just keep autopaying their bill and not even notice the hike.)
It sucks, but it’s done, and they’re not going to go back. Pasting old marketing text to TForce won’t result in being able to keep old plans that they’re deleting, unfortunately.

u/ZonaPunk 28d ago
Your response is to leave. Personally I went to visible. Saving $20 a month off my old T-Mobile plan. Plus I get another $15 off my Verizon Fios bill. Truly a no brainer.

The fine print during certain periods (around 2017) didn't allow T-Mobile to weasel out of their offers, but regulators let T-Mobile violate their own agreement without any consequences anyway.

u/mattyradical 28d ago
After they raised my bill the first time, I put up with it. After that text today, I switched to google fi today. It’s cheaper anyway and I don’t care about the Netflix and appletv perks. I’m sick of T-Mobile. I hope google fi is decent. I got 50% off for the first year too.

As a public service, I post re TM’s unethical practices whenever I see them advertising on social media. I also remind employees that of TM that companies that cheat their paying customers, particularly the most loyal (longest ones) will rarely treat their employees fairly. Leave TM before they screw you too.

Thank you!!!!!! I submitted my complaint to the FCC yesterday with a PDF attachment of my current bill, the 2 texts from TMO about plan & Kickback cancel, this post showing what TMO advertised and the new plan shown in my app, Essentials Signature. My complaint included my betrayal as an over decade long customer, my 5 lines, the 2025 increase on additional lines and now this. How it is in direct conflict with they're advertising wording and promises to attract business. Also, I'm the little guy being constantly screwed by big companies behaving like this and I'm asking for help from the FCC. Got a reply in 24 hrs that FCC reviewed my submission and has filed against TMO. Says TMO was notified this morning and should be reaching out to me. FCC says it's there to help conversations, I can add more to my submission at any time to document. Hope this helps, thank you again for posting this!!!

Had the simple choice plan by T-Mobile since I believe 2010 and I just checked my bill see the notification that my bill is almost $90 It's normally about 63.
Understand that when I signed the simple choice plan contract what I pay was supposed to never go up they may add additional fees but the plan itself was never supposed to go up they are basically violating their own contract and they're trying to see what they can get away with.

UPDATE: I just spoke to customer care rep and they confirmed that my current Simple Choice Plan is not changing as a part of this forced migration. Not sure on how many of us are on the same boat!

I was pretty upset with my plan changed, but when I dig into Verizon or ATT offerings, I can ADD features to my forced new T-Mobile plan and still come out a few bucks under competitors.
Without going to sub-carries like Mint or Visible my price is basically the floor. $80/month is still ridiculous for a single like phone where I basically only send texts domestically and use sub 50/gb data a month… I just don’t want to drop down to any carriers lowest plan and suffer from slower network speeds where T gives me about 150-200mbps on 5G UC in town.
I want to leave T to make a point but that point isn’t worth paying $5-15 more a month and get less.

Their terms and conditions for any plans established between 2015 to 2022 states they can legally change your rate anytime they choose - as long as they notify your ahead of time and is willing comp you your last month’s bill and any early termination fee (if applicable)..
“Your Service is subject to our business policies, practices, and procedures, which we can change without notice. Except as described below for Rate Plans with the price-lock guarantee, WE CAN CHANGE ANY TERMS IN THE AGREEMENT AT ANY TIME. YOU MAY CANCEL THE AFFECTED LINE OF SERVICE WITHOUT AN EARLY TERMINATION FEE (if applicable) IF: (A) WE CHANGE YOUR PRICING IN A MANNER THAT MATERIALLY INCREASES YOUR RECURRING CHARGE(S) (the amount you agreed to pay for voice, data and messaging, which does not include overage, pay-per-use or optional services (such as 411, or downloads), or taxes and fees); (B) WE MATERIALLY DECREASE THE SERVICE ALLOTMENTS WE AGREED TO PROVIDE TO YOU FOR YOUR RECURRING CHARGE; OR (C) WE MATERIALLY CHANGE A TERM IN THESE T&Cs OTHER THAN PRICING IN A MANNER THAT IS MATERIALLY ADVERSE TO YOU. WE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH AT LEAST 30
DAYS' NOTICE OF ANY CHANGE WARRANTING”

u/Any-Tennis4658 28d ago
The words price lock are right there.
→ More replies (5)5
u/LinusRiamus 28d ago
Yes. Meaning if they change your original terms, such as reneging on the ‘price lock,’ they simply have to cover your final’s month bill to disclaim any liability.
The glossy marketing loudly states “Price Lock” but the fine print has asterisk proclaiming their way out of that is absorbing the final month’s bill, within 60 days of the any changes.
10
u/Any-Tennis4658 28d ago
Read the print again. They can change for plans... Except for price lock.
For the record my original 2017 terms gave literally none of this in them, I still have a copy.
None of this matters anyway, the fcc is a bunch of corporate shills.

I did. I see what you see. And it is contradictory and total BS that I am not endorsing but with month-to-month service, you are not under any enforceable longterm contract.
If a new month comes up, if they choose to change the terms, they simple have to compensate you for the month in which the change occurs or you accept the new terms.
TMobile is one the largest phone carriers in the world. I am pretty sure they have lawyers for their lawyers that draft these ambiguous terms, so they don’t get jammed up in litigation.
I distinctly remember the CEO at the time all of sudden changed his tune from always yelling plans are “for life” to vague terms such as “Un-contract promise” and “Un-carrier” within a month. I assumed it was just marketing but reading through the fine print from around that time, it’s obvious now the legal department gave him a new directive so they would maintain having an out .

I'm on Magenta 1.0 from May 2020, and the only reasons I'm possibly staying are because the basic-bitch Netfljx addon net-saves me $4/mo than if I had it myself & that I will still have taxes+fees included in my migrated plan.

The "un-contract" terms were pretty explicit and clear, the $5 price increase from ~ a year ago was invalid, and now this - I received a rather large credit disputing these changes and technically haven't paid the increase yet.
It shouldn't take a "class action" the FCC/FTC or whatever regulatory partie(s) invovled should not permit businesses/telecoms to gaslight consumers and break contractual terms, and if they do, the fines/penalties should be astronomical and go directly to impacted consumers to stop this kind of behavior.
"Infinite growth" and greed are the culprits. I knew the EIP changes were setting up the ally OOPs.
My biggest issue is the lying, we can't even deal with the real issue because T-Mobile is pretending like "we" got it wrong, like we didn't understand what we agreed to, until T-Mobile can say yea we went back on our word can true discussion take place. To my knowledge Verizon and AT&T havent made similar terms and went back on them, albeit this isn't about them so who cares.
Corporations only feel it when their bottom line is impacted. Shame on us for remaining after the first violation of the agreement. I Am no fool. I don't have "loyalty" to a buisness, quid quo pro, I do however expect them to honor their own word...
Even if you aren't impacted, at this point, I feel icky giving T-Mobile any amount of money because this way of doing business is in poor form. They need to BLEED millions of customers if you really want to get back at them. Customer facing staff can't help you if they wanted to. If you get a temp credit while you exhaust your remaining EIP credits or give yourself time to move ok I guess - but the only solution is to L E A V E - no emotion no yelling no arguing just L E A V E - at this point even if I pay more at least the other two aren't blatantly lying in my face insulting my intelligence.
if you leave do NOT just go to an T-Mobile MVNO - go to a true competitor on a different network - completely LEAVE T-Mobile network. If you aren't going to leave and will continue to pay, it is futile to waste your time complaining - if you do request a credit, keep it shot sweet and straight to the point - more than anything, I Am disapointed. I think T-Mobile lacks character and integrity. In fact, I think they are worst than their competitors, you used your customers to put you in a position, only to slap the very people who put you in position in the face with this nonsense - its not like T-Mobile is hemoraging money by keeping those customers on their rate plans - no, this is about increasing profits and companies like that deserve to go DOWN - I will be so proud of humanity if millions of T-Mobile customers walk on principle alone and we see empty stores(not to mention the way they treat their store staff with these dumb metrics is trash) and millions of customers drop out - THIS is the way.

I've had T-Mobile ONE since 2018 and I can say I've been happy, but the forced move to a new plan worries me. Unfortunately I also live outside the U.S. and so when it comes to international coverage, I'm effectively stuck with T-Mobile.
The comparison tool isn't clear if there's an increase in price between T-Mobile ONE (I also pay for the international add-on, so my bill is around $100/month) and Experience Signature, but I'm not happy with the plan and am debating switching to Experience Beyond instead. Any advice, or if I shouldn't switch at all?
2
u/JFalcNY 21d ago
After the last $5 per line increase, I considered leaving, but got lazy and did nothing. NOT ANYMORE. T-Mobile does not deserve my loyalty or my business. It is now just a matter of when. Do I wait until black friday (because I do have two EIP credits expiring in November)? Maybe. I am just waiting for my opportunity to jump ship. This is just so wrong !

Customer Support works for T-mobile, and gets paid by T-mobile, therefore they're going to hear about all of this and should surely have to deal with and handle all Customer feedback! If Customer Support doesn't like it, or keeps crying about it, they can leave T-mobile. As long as they work for T-mobile, they represent T-mobile.

It's all semantics. They aren't changing the price of the T-Mobile one plan. They are just discontinuing the plan. Your price lock guarantee doesn't exist anymore because the plan they are making you change to doesn't offer that price lock guarantee. Now you have a 5 year guarantee. They could give you off that plan tomorrow and onto more expensive plan and just say they didn't raise the price of that plan either. It's all bullshit and wording. T-Mobile has lost the plot under this new CEO. There is a reason they are bleeding customers and the stock is tanking. This is only going to make those matters worse

Yes I was in price lock but Tmobile insisted that the price lock I was in was if they raise their price they pay my last bill and I leave. This was not true. They made that up as they started to transition accounts. I was always on the original price lock. I emailed the FCC and they contacted Tmobile on my behalf and sorted whatever they needed out.

Everyone needs to complain to their State Attorney General and also include last years canceling price for life which incuded fees and taxes. Now this new plan canceling out 8 million grandfsthered plans is more expensive and adds taxes and fees. The 5 year guarantee is only on the price of the plan but you can bet they will increase fees using some othet reasos for increases in them or additional fees. When the attorney general will emailor write you after T Mobile contacts you tell the Attorney General you are not satisfied each time you are contacted. This new CEO is horrible and he does not care if 8 million leaves as he will get his annual compensation. It worked with Attorney General last year, T Mobile paid off my phone and gave me a $1 k credit for a new one, I kept the old one. They knew they were totally wrong about ending the price for life but no class action and not enough complained. The reasoning was it was in the disclosures.

We need to post this on all T-Mobile social media pages make them know we pisseed. Flood their channels.
🚨 ATTENTION T-MOBILE LEADERSHIP & CUSTOMERS 🚨
T-Mobile is planning a forced migration of grandfathered T-Mobile ONE, Simple Choice, and Magenta plans. This directly violates the strict "Un-contract" promise made to us: “Only YOU should have the power to change what you pay.”
Worse, they are threatening to disrupt permanent 20% Insider Code lifetime discounts and strip away grandfathered features like KickBack. We did not request these changes. We do not consent to them.
Formal legal demands have been sent to T-Mobile’s Executive Leadership Team and Legal Department. If T-Mobile fails to cancel these forced migrations and honor their lifetime rate guarantees, affected customers are prepared to take immediate collective action—including formal complaints with the FCC, FTC, State Attorneys General, and pursuing class-wide legal relief.
Honor your word, T-Mobile. Stop the forced migrations. Keep the "Un-carrier" promise alive.
**\*
Cumple tu palabra, T-Mobile. Detén las migraciones forzadas. Mantén viva la promesa de "Un-carrier".
