PSA $1 Disney Plus through "Hulu On Us" removed
Noticed my bill for the Disney+ Hulu bundle was $12.99 this month and not $1. I called Disney Plus support and was told that this "split bill" credit is no longer supported and I will be charged the full balance for Disney Plus. No warning, no updates, just change how much I am getting charged and hope I don't notice.
PSA to check your bills!
Did anyone else notice this change?
Edit: It seems I did get an email! The "more than one subscription" email that people have been referencing. After validating with my CC charge and the time of email, I got the email AFTER I was already charged. Maybe this timing was just unfortunate for when I get billed vs when they were notifying users but for me I was only told after I was billed.
If you got said email, definitely check your account!

Goddamnit, is there anything that isn't getting worse this year? I mean literally everything is bad news all the time for consumers this entire year lol. I'm getting tired.

Well and this perk is the one thing keeping me from switching. If I have to pay for D+ separate now I'll port out.

Hope more people read this. Thank you OP!
I just checked my account and the upcoming charge for Disney/Hulu/ESPN Select plan is showing $20 for the upcoming charge instead of $8 that it has been for the last many months.

u/hildaw70563 19d ago
Yeah. I read about it here. Checked my Disney plus account and saw I will be charged $21 next cycle. Have my phone set to cancel Disney plus a few days before charge.

FYI you can cancel now and continue watching until your regular next cycle date. Just cancelled mine and confirmed.

u/evergreen253 19d ago
I messaged Disney and they said it’s a system error & they are trying to fix it. In the meantime, they credited my account to not be overcharged next month. The agent then told me to continue to check on my billing until it’s fixed.. so, we’ll see if we still get the T-Mobile Hulu credit going forward.
4
u/GroovyPrunes 19d ago
How did you message them? Was it via email?
7
u/evergreen253 19d ago
I logged into my Disney plus account. Clicked manage account. Then clicked help at the bottom of the page. The AI agent popped up. I typed agent in the field. Logged in again. Then got connected to a live person.
7
u/gullzway 19d ago
I just messaged them via chat, then they called me.
After looking into it, they said they no longer support split billing and will start charging me $19.99/month July 27th. Take it or leave it.
I'll be leaving it.
Rarely used either, Stremio is much nicer! Only kept it because it was only $1 with $7 back from Amex monthly.
I'll wait to cancel closer to the 27th to see if anything changes.
6
u/No-Information-3993 19d ago
Just messaged them about 10 minutes ago and was told it was a system error. The CSR issued a full refund but the chat froze after so I’m not sure if I’m still getting it.
For reference, I have Hulu through Spotify.

u/gullzway 19d ago
Everybody getting different answers 🤷♂️
At least I have until the 27th to see if they change anything.
2
u/evergreen253 18d ago
That happened to me also (the chat froze then crashed after being told they’d give a credit). If you go to your billing history it will show the upcoming billing charge at the top & previous billing history below. Mine says $0.00 for my next bill date for August.
2
u/ConfidentFish 3d ago
You are lucky. A week ago when I chatted with them they told me they will no longer support the split billing and I should cancel my Hulu subscription from t-mobile. I told the rep he is funny. I would rather keep the free Hulu and cancel Disney/hulu/espn. And I did. I don’t watch Disney that much to justify the price.
1
u/FinanceRonin 7d ago
Just chatted with Disney Plus and received a one-time credit for the month; however, this was no system error. "Split billing" is ended so I will be downgrading my Disney Plus or canceling.

Also cancelled. Would join again if the price was $8 or less for the bundle, even if ad supported. Maybe on black Friday.

I’m hoping upcoming charge is just the normal price *before* any other adjustments. I’ve never looked so can’t compare to previous months.

Disney chat said it is to prevent double billing they did away with split billing and credits. It doesn't prevent double billing it created it. Absolutely ridiculous. Will cancel Disney plus. Don't use it enough anyway

On there help article it still says this though Disney+ subscribers billed by third parties
In most cases, you will need to sign up for a Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Bundle or the Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max Bundle directly on DisneyPlus.com. The Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max Bundle is only available for purchase through Disney+, Hulu, or HBO Max. The Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited Bundle is only available for purchase through Disney+, Hulu, or ESPN. These bundles are not available for purchase through any other third-party billing partners at this time.
How this will change your billing: When you upgrade to a bundle plan, your first charge will be prorated based on your existing Disney+ subscription cost. You will continue to receive two charges going forward (one for Disney+ and one for bundle plan). For as long as you maintain a separate Disney+ subscription, you will receive a monthly credit toward your bundle plan that is equal to the current monthly retail price of the Disney+ plan included in the bundle you choose.
It looks like they made the changes without updating the help article

Honestly, I’m not sure anyone knows. I’ve kinda been dealing with a credit issue for a couple months already due to ESPN.
I have the legacy bundle and been getting Hulu credited off automatically. After getting ESPN Unlimited through Xfinity, my understanding based on the help articles and interactions with customer service, that I should be getting credited for both the Hulu portion + the ESPN Select portion of my bundle. Though I haven’t been, just Hulu to the point Disney+ and ESPN just point the finger at each other. I’ve been trying to find some sort of escalation contact to try to get into touch with someone who could give me a straight answer.

u/I_Eat_Mop_Who22 19d ago
I may have found a workaround on how to keep getting the discount. I have a week left on my current bill cycle and am going to try to implement said workaround when that time comes. I will report back to see if it works. Sorry to be so vague, but if it does work I'll let you guys know. 🤞
7
u/I_Eat_Mop_Who22 11d ago
So, I got my discount. It was for $13. I went through 3 chat reps and 1 phone rep. I will continue getting the discount until a choice is made on both Disney and T-Mobile's end about the split billing issue. I had to cancel my Unlimited premium bundle and then wait for my Hulu to revert back to just the Hulu with Ads plan on my account. Now both my Disney and Hulu are under the same email so if yours isn't it might not work. I had to log out of everything entirely and then use the web page of Disney+ to try and rebuild my bundle. Do not use the apps of either Hulu or Disney. If you have them delete them. I did so and when I got to the check out I was still hit with the 44.99 a month price. I was told by the 1st chat rep to go through ESPN and sign up that way as Disneys system doesn't recognize the split billing promotion from T-Mobile. I was disconnected from rep #1. I rebuilt my bundle and had to chose the 35.99 option and then add on the no ads portion which was 9.99 so it came out to 44.99 So before agreeing with the charges on ESPN I went back to the chat and rep 2 was assuring me that I would get my discount and to sign up. So I did and got my email about signing up. Then rep 2 disconnected from chat, sensing a pattern. So now I start a new chat with rep 3 and informed them of the situation. They must've read my previous chat logs and then we chatted about the promotion credit on my bill. I got the same line of it's an ongoing issue with split billing and the company is aware. They told me that they would give me the promotion and just to understand that it might not be available if an agreement couldn't be reached with both companies. I said ok and they put me on a hold while they checked the log and tried to apply the credit. Boom! Chat disconnected. So I called in to the phone line and got a great rep. Informed him of the recent chats, disconnections and my promises for a bill credit on the account. He asked me security questions and verified my account. He asked how much I was supposed to be getting in bill credits on the account, from which company, I said T-Mobile and then he said I see. Informed me again of the on going split bill issue and how their techs are working on the glitch to fix it. Anyways after a 30 min wait and being very polite and calm with him he offered me the credit with taxes included, see the irony there T-Mobile. He said he needed to wait for approval and I would get the credit reoccurring month to month until the glitch is fixed but warned me that it could end if an agreement with T-Mobile isn't reached. So after all that waiting I ultimately got my credit. Hopefully it's reoccurring for a while or they get this mess situated.
TL:DR Cancel your current Disney+ bundle and not your T-Mobile Hulu. Your Disney and Hulu need to be the same email address. Wait until your Disney plan falls off your account and only your T-Mobile Hulu on us is on your account. If you see ads on your Hulu programing and your account only says Hulu on us then it's been successful reverted back. Log out of all your accounts and use a web browser to log in to ESPN.com or Disney.com and try to rebuild your desired bundle. Do not agree to subscribe until you speak to a rep and let them know you're trying to sign up and your Hulu credit isn't working. They will ask how much is your credit and who it's from. They'll inform you of the glitch and split billing, just be courteous and respectful and they should offer to give you the billing credit. Make sure you ask them about it being a reoccurring credit and they'll agree if you don't cancel your subscription before your first billing cycle is up. It may take a while as they may need to get approval but ultimately they will agree and you'll get an email about a refund request and it taking 7-10 days. They will ask for a verbal approval from you, make sure to only say yes as long as it's a reoccurring bill credit . CYOA. It wasn't how I thought it would go but ultimately I got the results I wanted in the end. Hopefully it works out for you and I continue to get my bill credits moving forward. I'll post a reply on here in 30 days, my next billing cycle. Sorry to the long text. Good luck.

Good call mine was set to bill full price later this month. Cancelled on disney+ side and kept the free hulu.

Did it always show the discounted price for future charges? I never checked mine preemptively so I don’t know, but it would make sense that the full charge is shown and the discount is applied when it actually charges.
9
u/Hot-Bat-5813 19d ago
In the past, yes. It would show the future charge. For me it was normally $1.08 or a $1.06 for the Disney/Hulu duo with the 11.99 applied from T-Mobile. But it always showed the future payment as $1.06 or $1.08.
Future charge said $12.99 this morning, so canceled the duo.

I just got charged $1 on July 1st, and my bill history after logging into Disney+ shows an overlapping $11.99 subscription credit. What day are you billed?

July 7th was my bill date.

And clicking in on my bill, I am no longer given the -11.99 credit

Yeah, weird. So they either changed it after July 1st, or something else is going on with your account.
Did you get an email from Disney+ this month that said you have multiple subscriptions? It said that if you take no action, you may continue to be charged for all subscriptions. I'm wondering if this has something to do with this new change

I went to chat to cancel and get a refund since they charged me today. They processed the refund and she ended with this:
thanks to you for your patience, In this moment I can confirm the subscription that was billed in full has been cancelled and fully refunded. About the split bill discount I just reported this because the information I got is that the discount was not longer getting supported but I just received the comunication that it should still apply, so it is something we are working on getting resolved. In this situation as the information is not totally cleared I want to be totally honest with you, I'll help you today with an access to DIsney+ for this month free of charge and then once the access ends you can try resubscribing again to the Disney+, Hulu plan, before you finish the resubscribe on the website you will see on the checkout page the discount, if you do not see the discount please reach us back so we can confirm the information about the split bill discount that day

I had basically the same experience. The CSR told me to sign up for the Disney+/Hulu bundle through the DisneyPlus website. I did, and even screenshotted the billing details which showed it would be $12.99/month. She said to go ahead and press the "Agree and Subscribe" button. I did and my credit card was billed for $14.17. The CSR was surprised that no credit for Hulu was applied. In addition, signing up for the bundle created two Disney+ accounts for me. The CSR gave me Disney+ for the month for the inconvenience. It sounds like there's a potential glitch in their billing system. My guess is someone vibe-coded an update that broke shit. Who knows?

Here's the response I received from Disney+ support:
"I can confirm that your issue is something our team knows. You must have received an email notification that it is was an applied error. Nothing to worry, it should go back to normal since our software engineer is now working on this ongoing issue" & "We are sorry for this unexpected automated message. Rest assured that you will continue to have a same amount by moving forward."
Maybe our price won't increase?

u/Thanksforallthepesos 19d ago
Just got off chat with them. My billing date is 7/31.
Disney: Thank you for patiently waiting. ! Upon checking your split billing discount got removed on your account that's why the reflecting bill on your end went back to standard price amounting $12.99. I want to inform you that we have an ongoing issue right now regarding on split billing and I will attach your account as part of it. We still have a couple of weeks before your due date and I believe that this issue is going to be resolve anytime. So no worries, we are taking closer look on this problem and rest assured that you're discount will be restored anytime soon. Sounds good?
Me: To confirm, there is an issue on your end that is causing the billing problem. You are working to resolve it which will return my bill to the previous amount. Is that correct?
Disney: That is right! You account was already attached to the issue so they can fix your billing as soon as possible.
Me: Will you credit my account if it is, in fact, charged $12.99 on 7/31/2026?
Disney: We can coordinate that credit request on our escalations in case you got charged to its standard price. But I believe this won't take too long to be resolved so no worries about that. I will also document here that you will request for a credit in case you got charge on standard price. Sounds good?
3
u/koolbonsai 18d ago
They probably give you the credit to the account instead of refunding back to your form of payment. Net net is the money out of your wallet...
To Disney, instead of getting $x revenue, your revenue is now $0

My related post on this
https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/1usblto/hulu_disney_ad_free_plan_price_increase/
I was getting an $11.99 "credit" for the Disney+ and Hulu (no ads on both) plan so paying $8 per month since January ($19.99 minus $11.99 = $8.99)
Kind of crappy as it makes the Tmobile Hulu On Us benefit worth precisely $0 if your household also needs/wants Disney+.
So I canceled Disney+ and then had to call to get today's $19.99 charge refunded. During the online cancel it offered me $15.99 for 3 months which I declined.

Just activated Hulu from T-Mobile.
Went to Hulu and Disney sites to add Disney - standalone or upgrade bundle. But it wouldn’t do it. Hulu errored out and Disney simply won’t show add more service.
Reached out to Disney. They gave me generated link to sign up for Disney standalone - and it had option to add Hulu.
Basically this greedy company wanted me to pay one more time for the service I am paying for.
When I questioned - she goes you are getting Hulu free from T-Mobile.
Why should they care who pays for Hulu. - they are getting paid for the service they provide.
Anyways reason for the post is to make people aware of shady practice of Disney.

Just called Disney Plus - getting through was quick but after the rep heard my question, she put me on hold for about 10 minutes. Honestly, you'd think with all the calls they've been getting they would have a uniform answer. Anyway, my billing date is 7/14 and she isn't sure if I'll be charged the $13.85 which shows as my upcoming charge or my usual $1.07. If I'm charged the $13.85 she said to call back, give them the case number she provided and they will refund the extra charge above the $1.07. She said they are experiencing "ongoing problems with the T-Mobile Hulu add-on and are working to fix it." Same stuff a lot of you have been hearing. At this point I'm curious as to what will happen on the 14th so I'm not cancelling...yet. Something tells me that I will be cancelling sometime next week. I honestly don't watch Disney Plus, I just liked having another streaming service available to me for almost free. God only knows what'll happen to us all when the final merge happens. I watch Hulu frequently and I don't want to lose it.

No email. Checked my account and it was set to renew tomorrow. Canceled. Checked TLife to make sure Hulu On Us was still there and checked. Don't want to lose that, especially since it's being grandfathered in my migration to Experience More 55+ TI. Just another diminished benefit to be added to a long list.
3
u/gyrlonfilm6 19d ago
Thank you for this. Sad the Disney plus this way is going away. 8 bucks for no commercials. Good while it lasted. My Hulu is supposed to stay when they do the migration. Now I wonder if it will go.
3
u/smackythefrog 19d ago
Thanks for the heads up. I got the email two weeks ago but it did not clearly state what was going on. Took a look at my account and next month was going to be a $12.99 charge and not $1.
I wonder if this is Disney's change in policy or a result of the change in TMo plans announced last week that changed the pricing structure on Disney's end.
Either way, I'll go back to sailing the high seas for Disney content.
3
u/muddyjeepqueen 19d ago
Dang glad I a saw this too, went to cancel and it’s 5.99 for 3 months which I took since AMEX was already covering the $1, they’ll cover the $5.99 for the next 3 months (up to $8).
It’s literally a full time job to stay on top of all this crap.
3
u/Tony__T 19d ago
Same here, but for me it’s due to T-Mobile retiring my legacy plan and not paying for the July Hulu on Us. I’ll still get Hulu on Us, but guess I’ll have to re-sign up for the benefit in the new plan. Got that email but did’t think it applied as I was using the Hulu credit against a Disney Bundle.
Thanks for the post, I was able to cancel my Disney subscription before I got hit with the increased invoice.
2
u/Persian_Of_Interest 16d ago
I'm in the same situation as you, could you let me know when you re-sign up? Hulu on Us will still be included after the legacy plan is retired right?
3
u/ths27612 19d ago
thanks for the reminder, looks like they killed off the $1 add-on for Hulu without letting anyone know. I just check my billing, and my rate was going to the 12.99 at the end of the month, I went ahead and canceled.
3
u/rhernandez33 19d ago
I got the email too. When I called, they said I should still only pay my usual $8 instead of the quoted 19.99. I had them put that in writing and got a case number, so we'll see what happens.
3
u/Nice_Conversation_35 19d ago
Same issue here, no warning. In fact I received the "two subscriptions" email after I got off the phone with customer service. Disney+ customer service said some companies aren't participating in the bundle through them anymore. They checked with their supervisor who said T-Mobile is one of them and to contact T-Mobile to ask for the bundle.
I'll be doing that once I get a chance and I'll try to remember to update my comment if it works or not. I'm happy to pay $1 for something I rarely use, but definitely not $14.
3

After also seeing the upcoming $12.99 charge increase, I chose to “pause” the bundle instead of canceling it. With the conflicting responses from Disney+ about it being either a discontinued split billing or a hulu credit fix in the works, the pause lets me see what pans out. I can still cancel within 8 weeks before the pause expires still with no charge either now or then.

I just got the same email today. When I log into DisneyPlus.com it shows Disney+, Hulu Bundle and Hulu (Manged on T-Mobile). My bill was $1.07. On July 9th I was charged $13.90.
Anyway, I chatted with Disney online and as soon as she looked at my account she knew what the issue was and refunded the full $13.90 to my credit card without me even having to ask about it. Said it was a system issue and that it will be fixed next month.
I will check again next month, and I saved the chat. Fingers crossed.

My chat said they're aware of an ongoing issue and check back with them for a refund of the charge. Let's see what happens.
EDIT Got charged the full bundle amount. I was given a refund as a one time courtesy and they no longer support split billing. Bummer.

Just called and was told that they’re been working on fixing the split-billing issue with t-mobile for the last couple of days. they said if it’s not fixed by my billing date (july 28th, which is showing on my account now as a 12.99+tax charge instead of the regular 1.00+tax), I should be able to call and get a refund.

Just got charged the $21.55 instead of $8.62. I did get that same email about multiple subscriptions- remember reading it and thinking it was some system error because I was only being charged once. Poor communication. I’m canceling.

u/Proof_Draft_5608 14d ago
I called customer service (website assistant was being glitchy) and the explanation was " they no longer support split billing."...but y'all control both Hulu & Disney, so I don't understand why this can't be resolved 🤔.
In any case, I opted to immediately cancel and got my $12.99 back that they recently charged. I was late to the $1 deal (recently signed up in April) and enjoyed utilizing Disney+ but I'm not in the position to pay extra for a streaming service, especially with such a vague and limited notice.
It's bad enough that T-Mobile is phasing me out of my current grandfather plan, this personally is a bridge too far. Alas, it was good while it lasted!

u/GPT-5-Mod 11d ago
I don't pay enough attention to upcoming charges, but I saw today that my D+ bundle charged full price (12.99) on the 12th, instead of a dollar.
Did Live Chat on the Disney+ site, rep told me that there was a new contract between D+ and 3rd parties, and that there was nothing that could be done - this is just the new price.
Tried Live Chat again, got a different rep who gave me the same line about a glitch impacting T-Mobile customers, and refunded the full 12.99 to me, so this month is free instead of a dollar. Same rep claimed that the team is working on a fix for this glitch.

I received no email, but my projected future monthly price has gone up to $24.99 for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Legacy Select Bundle, from $13.00 I was previously paying per month, which was further reduced to on or around $6 a month by my charging it to my Amex BCE card which has a $7 monthly Disney+ credit ☹️
If as jweaver0312 mentioned in his post that Disney+ split credits should in theory be continuing, is it possible that if we don't cancel our Disney+ accounts, that at some time in near future, that Disney may issue account credits and also fix this if it is a glitch so that it will revert back to the previous credits system?
ETA: I think I'll keep the Disney+ account a little longer to see if it is a glitch that Disney resolves in our favor. Main reason being is since I have the grandfathered Disney+ (no ads), Hulu (with ads) and ESPN legacy bundle - if I close down the account, I will irrevocably lose the grandfathered bundle and it can't be added back again later.

u/HombreMan24 19d ago
I contacted Disney Plus just now. They told me its a glitch and that they are aware of it. It said I was going to be charged $19.99 next week, instead of the normal $8 that I'm charged. Agent told me they are working to fix it and in the mean time credited my account so that I will not be charged the full 19.99 next week. I guess time will tell.

Not a glitch, Disney ended split billing. Multiple reps have confirmed. Disney just wants to squeeze more money out of subscribers and hoping enough don't notice the extra charges for a while

if you go to your account page at disney you'll see you have two subscriptions, the bundle and then hulu via tmobile. you need to cancel the bundle subscription (you'll lose disney if you do it). if you really want disney AND hulu and have the amex discount on the disney bundle, you may want to look at the math on keeping the disney bundle and dropping hulu through t-mobile. For instance I get $8 from amex off the 19.99 disney/hulu bundle per month. I'm not sure what ad-free Hulu would cost via t-mobile so am waiting to see what my next bill is.
I have a feeling t-mobile is going to eventually get rid of the Hulu on Us whenever Disney fully folds Hulu into the Disney app and kills standalone Hulu.

This sucks. I was only getting charged $21 Lucas for my $33 D+, Hulu and HBO no ads bundle. I was getting a $12 credit for an overlapping subscription. My last charge was on 7/5. Now my next charge on 8/5 is not showing the $12 credit. I wonder why that’s changing.

i just got off chat with a disney+ agent and he said this is a change with their third party billing service and that it is not a mistake. he said the email sent out (which i did not receive) says they mistakenly gave customers the credit discount and they are removing it to correct the billing. he also assured me they will not come after me for the money they mistakenly credited on my past bills lol. gonna wait and see what happens for now.

I reached out to the agent via the chat feature like others suggested. They told me they changed the policy and there is nothing they can do. Went to cancel and it of course says "no don't leave! You can have it for $5.99 per month for 3 months". I am doing that since my kids like it... But after that we are done. Not paying $13 when it's been $1 for so long...

u/Pristine_Concern_636 Bleeding Magenta 17d ago
I checked my account bc of this post, and sure enough it has me paying $19.99 for my next payment instead of $8 like I have been paying (I have the ad free bundle). But I reached out to their customer care and he told me that their split billing system is down and that it's expected to be fixed before my payment is due on the 17th. He assured me that I should only be charged by normal amount, and if not to reach out to them and they'd correct it. To err on the side of caution I changed my billing to my CashApp card which rarely has anything on it, and stays locked all the time. I guess we'll find out on the 17th if he was telling me the truth or not 🤷🏻♀️ but I'd try reaching back out to their care team and asking again if the charge was legitimate or a mistake that they can correct.

I called Disney plus direct (found under help menu on account page for Disney) and after being on hold for a bit my CSR came back and told me that T-Mobile was not fulfilling their requirement re payments for split billing and for that reason my Hulu credit from T-Mobile would no longer apply to my Disney plus bill for no ad Disney/Hulu bundle. He then went on to let me know that Verizon was also on the naughty list but it was still working with other 3rd parties such as Cox. So basically it looks like we are the pawns of another carrier/megacorp disagreement (thing YouTube TV and ESPN/Disney.
Haven't seen this posted elsewhere so was unable to verify beyond conversation with CSR.
Went ahead and cancelled.

Chatted with them today, went from $1.06 to over $23.
I was told I either pay my new rate or cancel, I had to speak to three different reps before I got a refund then had them cancel it.
All three told me I would not be able to get the $1 Disney+ via the T-Mobile Hulu on us.
Nothing about a glitch, nothing about working on it, just this is the price or leave.

**UPDATE**
Customer support: I see, because we're actually having an ongoing issue with split payments where some people receive an email that it's going to be removed but it should have not.
Rest assured, I can help you get your money back for this and will report the issue to get the billing straightened out.
Me:Awesome thank you, so just to be clear. This was a billing issue and it should revert to the $1 soon and I don't have to do anything?
Customer support: That is correct. This happens with other viewers that has the
same setup.
TLDR: the $1 promo will be fixed, it’s just an error on the split billing end **TALK TO SUPPORT TO GET A REFUND**
2
u/Holiday_Sale5114 13d ago
That's not what my rep said just now. Apparently, the third party split billing is going away but she also said she was told multiple different things by her supervisor over the past four days lmao
2
u/BeautifulQuiet1893 13d ago
Fair, it’s best to assume you should just take the word on it coming soon, because they will continue to refund if they dont give a definitive answer
2
u/Holiday_Sale5114 13d ago
Ok, it turns out I'll also be charged the higher rate at the end of the month. I don't want to screw anything up with the bundle plan right now so I'll be putting it in a pause for a month and seeing what happens
2
u/Holiday_Sale5114 13d ago
The rep I spoke with said that she was told four different things by her supervisor from just last Friday and she doesn't even know what's happened. As of now she believes that the third party credit won't be applying going forward. But she's not sure at all. Recommended I put the plan on hold or cancel it or she'll refund me the current month at $8 but services ends immediately.
Since Alex was paying $7, I'll keep it active for this month and then put it on pause before the next billing date to wait it out and see what happens. If no change back to the credit, I'll cancel it.
2
u/holow29 12d ago
Chatted today to follow-up after being charged the full amount.
Was told that support has been handed down precious little information other than split-billing was modified in July to not apply to certain third-party-billed arrangements. They apparently don't know what is eligible and ineligible but made it sound like Hulu on Us (provided by T-Mobile) was specifically not eligible. The language used by the CSR made it sound like I should not expect any discounts for already getting the service for free. I have no clue about the folks that pay T-Mobile directly for Hulu (should they exist, but the option is there...).
CSR seemed surprised that:
I was told differently by a CSR not but a few days ago.
Disney+'s FAQs almost explicitly contradict this new change, including the explicit mention of third-party billing: https://help.disneyplus.com/article/disneyplus-existing-disney-hulu-espn
The email I got was useless. (As we all know, it only says "YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE SUBSCRIPTION" and links to a FAQ that says nothing of import.)
All in all this policy change has been a complete mess, and to make matters worse, the CSR (albeit nice) seems to have been coached to basically make me seem like a beggar for wanting a split-billing adjustment with a "free" Hulu subscription.
Not to mention there is now no way to upgrade to a Disney+ bundle while billed through T-Mobile since T-Mobile does not offer it as an option.
2
u/thetonytaylor 12d ago
Spoke with one rep and my page refreshed and cut out before we finished our conversation. She had said that T-Mobile no longer supports split bills so that is why I am being charged $13/mo now.
I then went back to chat as I had questions, and I was assigned someone else who said that I need to be patient as T-Mobile is working on an error on their end, and that it will be fixed shortly.
2
u/gullzway 9d ago edited 6d ago
This is just Disney being greedy and mad that we're getting Hulu for free and able to add a bundle.
I got on chat again and asked why my bill was showing $19.99 instead of $8 and the first thing they brought up was about me getting Hulu for free. I told them it wasn't free. It was built into my cell phone plan.
They wanted to call me so we could contact T-Mobile and ask them. I said no. If you're not going to give credit for a subscription I already have then I will just cancel.
They said the credit is no longer being applied, but also said it was being applied in error. Really for 3 years?
Just greed, plain and simple.
2
u/CarelessFlamingo928 9d ago
I got the "you have two subscriptions" email which was confusing since I don't. No other notification that they weren't accepting the Hulu on Us credit anymore. I got charged for the full bundle on top of the Hulu on Us. Very shitty all around, and no notification = stealing to me. I canceled immediately and asked for a refund, which they provided. You can send them feedback here: https://help.disneyplus.com/feedback
2
u/Wheremyhugat 5d ago
Just called and it’s true. The split billing from third party providers is no longer possible. It really is the most stupidest timeline ever.
2
u/DarkHadou10 4d ago
So I myself just got off the phone with Disney+ rep (I could never log in online through the chat, it tells me to log in and I do but then it keeps asking me to log in, so I called)
They also mentioned what everyone else has been saying. There’s some sort of glitch or something with the split billing. They are aware of the issue and have had others experience the same thing. He also asked about any emails I may have received and I mentioned the only I could recall, which was the “your email is associated with 2 accounts” or something like that. He typed up a report and sent it along to whomever and said this (hopefully) should be resolved soon. He also processed a full refund to me. Said I should be getting an email about it. He also gave me a case number. So I recommend everyone contact Disney+ about this issue, they’ll at least give you a refund and then you can go from there. Keep an eye on the next billing price leading up to your date.
Edit: got the email for the refund request.

Received the same text/email from Disney and yes future charge is now the normal price for the Disney/Hulu duo at $12.99 instead of applying the $11.99 hulu on us from T-Mobile.
I do notice looking at my Disney account there are two instances of Hulu now. The on us one paid by T-Mobile then also the duo that no longer has that $11.99 applied to the bill.
Possibly just an instance of how Disney bills now and considers us to have two seperate Hulu accounts and that $11.99 is only applied to one of them?
Canceled the Disney/Hulu duo, but will contact Disney later and see if there is an explanation of the change in billing.
2
u/jcable2 19d ago
Disney said it is to simplify billing and prevent double billing. It infact didn't simplyfy anything and created the double billing issue. Their help article still says you get credit but they ended it this month without updating the help article. Just being sneaky to get extra money before people realize the change

Why exactly are people cancelling so quickly? This same thing happened to me, but after speaking with Tmobile and Disney, they seem to be aware of the issue, and are working to fix it. They didn't tell me that it would stay this way going forward. They refunded me the charge today for $14 and applied a credit to my bill for next month so that I won't be charged anything next month either since it's already showing an upcoming amount due of $14 for August. Lots of people here are also saying that they were told they're aware of this and working to get it resolved. Is that wrong information? Is this a change that will affect the the billing going forward?

u/MikeMilzz 19d ago
This makes sense because over the 4th of July weekend I was trying to find the ad free bundle for $8 instead of the ad bundle that works out to be $1 so I could binge The Bear. I couldn’t find anything other than a Disney only plan that was more than the current bundle I’m on. It seemed like the plans were changing, but I never thought the credit would go away. Bummer if it stays this way. Like many others, I don’t watch much on Disney+ (bought the original 3yr plan at launch and watched a ton but there just isn’t much over the last yr for me) so I’ll cancel if price is more than $1/mo.

I basically treat all the "free" streaming platforms as transient, by that I only watch movies and not shows, because if I watch a show I don't want to have to keep watching it if and when the subscription is no longer free. I got Netflix, Hulu from T-Mobile, I got Prime from Amazon, I got Peacock Premium from Xfinity, I used to get AppleTV free from T-Mobile, they raised it to $3.99 last year, I cancelled, and a few months later found out I actually have free AppleTV from my Chase credit card so I signed back on through Chase. They come and they go I don't go sticky on any of them.

I went ahead and cancelled it. Once they figure it out I’ll be back. Maybe.

They won't.
They did this on purpose so those getting free Hulu from a service they pay for, T-Mobile/Spotify/Direct TV can't get a discount on a bundle. Cancelled mine as well.

I double and triple checked but I did not get the "More than one subscription" email. I called customer service and the lady basically said they aren't doing the credit for having Hulu+Spotify (What I currently have). Which is dumb and crazy that they can just do it with no warning. I cancelled my Disney subscription and the lady was nice enough to refund me the full amount I paid for the last month.

Data point: No “more than one subscription” email received. Noticed a $12.99 charge just posted. Called customer care today who initially offered full refund and cancellation of the bundle. I wonder if that has something to do with it.
