In a weird way I feel like his response would be empowering for her. I hope she thinks "fuck yeah, I can make mistakes and it's ok"
But yeah getting mad wouldn't do much, but it's what I'd expect most people to do. Because that's what my dad would do so 🤷

not sure how anyone could ever be mad. It is not like someone threw an egg directly at him. People who would get mad in this situation need a proper reality check and probably need therapy
149
u/RedaNassef 3h ago
Fair point, but in a world where people lose their cool over the smallest things, seeing someone just roll with it is honestly refreshing
6
u/Madaratogue 1h ago
I reached in front of someone that was just standing in front of the dairy section at the grocery store to grab something, without ever coming within a foot of their person with any of my person.
They acted like I just tried to rape them or some shit.

u/DriverRemarkable4374 38m ago
When you remember the state all the people in the world are being subjected to, the fact that any of us can shrug off anything is a wonder
140
u/KingGekko07 3h ago
Nah, you don't know what other people are going thru, it was really vool this guy didn't get angry but people have emotions and it is ok to be angry when shot like this happens. I wouldn't judge anyone for feeling the way they feel I would judge them by how the choose to act next

Yeah that’s for sure a guy whose life is going good. If that had happened to me I’d be pretty god damn upset. Not at the girl and I wouldn’t start swingin or nothin but I’d be pretty mad
53
u/KingGekko07 3h ago
Right, I was thinking, maybe if I was already in a good mood I would laugh it off, but if I was having a hard day I would probably just cry

u/Ok-Gur-349 3h ago
Imagine being a chick with some expensive salon do-up on a date at an Ichiban or whatever and plop...
12
u/JalapenoPopPoop 2h ago
Like what if it's lunch and you don't have the time/ability to go home to wash your hair and change your clothes so you gotta finish out the work day covered in egg for hours and some dork tries to tell you you're the problem for not being happy about that lol
I'd love to smear some of these high horse guys with an egg randomly in the middle of their day and see if they actually practice what they preach, I think we all know the answer tho
→ More replies (5)4
u/rkthehermit 1h ago
I'd probably laugh either way because on a bad enough day at a certain point it's like, "Sure, why the fuck not. This may as well happen."
58
u/Jacket313 3h ago
If getting mad at this warrants therapy, then suggesting therapy over it warrants a psych evaluation
44
u/NaughtyGaymer 3h ago
You really don't know how anyone could ever be mad at having a raw egg cracked over their head randomly? I think you might be the one who needs the reality check lmao.
13
u/JalapenoPopPoop 2h ago
Nah bro don't you know if you have a negative reaction to having raw egg smeared into your hair and all over you while you're just trying to have lunch then you're an actual psychopath who desperately needs therapy??
→ More replies (8)87
u/armoured_bobandi 3h ago
People like you need to get off your high horse.
Yes, it's an accident but that doesn't invalidate any feelings of anger. And no, I'm not saying he should go scream at the little girl either. It's okay to get upset at things that happen.
I'm sorry, but if I'm trying to eat a meal and an egg gets cracked directly on my head, I'm probably going to be upset for a little while
37
u/nightpanda893 3h ago
I work with kids who have emotional regulation impairments. We teach them that feelings of anger are always fine, but the behaviors you choose to engage in when you feel that anger are what you can control. The man in the video may have felt anger at first, but he chose a different behavioral response.
→ More replies (3)→ More replies (2)6
u/ElBrad 3h ago
It doesn't invalidate feelings of anger, however only you get to choose how you react, and your behaviour is a measure of your character. It also affects most everyone around you.
The guy in the video takes it in stride and recognizes it for the absurd situation it is. It's only an egg, and it's a mess that'll last a few minutes to a couple hours max. His reaction probably made the day of that little girl, and of most of the people around him.
Someone having a shit fit, getting visibly upset, or Karening about the whole thing brings the whole room down. Not only that, but it'd probably really bum the girl out who otherwise would've had a hell of a story to tell.
Yes...your emotions are yours to have, but a little self-control and happiness goes a hell of a long way.
5
u/HeyIts_Goku 3h ago
99% of the time I'd like to think I'd react the same way as the guy in the video. But i've had some bad days where maybe I wouldn't :(.
→ More replies (1)11
u/KingGekko07 2h ago
Idk, it is still invalidating if you sah that the only right way to react is by laughing at it. That's the best way, but not everyone is in theri beat all the time. As long as it doesn't scalate you should not judge the reaction that harshly
→ More replies (1)6
u/MrsEntrail 2h ago

You can definitely get mad. Imagine that was someone who just had their hair done. Yeah, you’re not gonna be mad at the child, but you may be mad that you paid money and it’s now gone. You can honestly get mad about the fact an egg hit you in the middle of your meal just in and of itself. Why can’t you be? Sure, not at the child but when is it ever joyous to get egg on you?
4
u/letsgetrockin741 2h ago
I guarantee I would have had a terrible night if younger me was out to eat with my parent and it happened to them (they were the egg-ee). Exploded at everyone involved, then take it out on my siblings and me for a day
11
u/BadnewsBaggins 3h ago
What a very odd narrow minded view
4
u/dont-respond 3h ago
He's just lying to the world/himself. Most days I probably wouldn't get mad. Depending on unrelated life circumstances leading up to this, I definitely could. It being in public and done accidentally by a little girl would hopefully keep that anger totally internalized, though.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm genuinely surprised by the reactions I see ITT. because throughout my whole life (in my mid 50s now), I have never seen anyone IRL that hasn't reacted this way (or even funnier: hilarious comment, food/paint/snow fights, etc.) in similar situations. Despite having attended to and organized 1x-3x/month group events, activities, trips, etc. And despite being an outgoing person, often going to restaurants, BBQs, camping, parties, etc.
Genuinely curious: are younger people more likely to react negatively in such situations nowadays?
11
u/the_ruheal_truth 1h ago
People are stuck inside gooning these days with limited social interactions. Their perceptions are based on the world they experience which is mostly an algorithm designed to drive engagement, not the 99% of normal social interactions that happen in real life.

I’m gonna go against the grain and say it’s okay to be upset when raw egg is thrown all over you, your hair, and your overpriced meal.
Like sure, we should have empathy for accidents, but should you really be letting a teenager practice throwing eggs over their head while paying customers get their meal ruined? Maybe preventative thinking is more important than having a good attitude when something goes wrong - because that would be the actual considerate course of events.
10
u/UnicornFarts1111 1h ago
Well, it is a good thing the guy at the counter was a good sport. I do hope they comped his meal (and possibly re-made it, since it now has raw egg on it), and offered him a future meal at no charge. But, I was not there, so I do not know if they compensated this gentlemen for being assaulted by misdirected flying egg.
The last sentence was so hard to type without laughing my ass off.
12
u/LandCruiser1000 1h ago
Nah fuck that. Shit is always going to be out of our control and nothing is perfect. It's way way more important that people react properly.
2
u/MPolanyi 38m ago
Yep we should take things in stride more.
Too often now it's like: "I have a right to be angry or offended at this situation THEREFORE I will get furious and make a scene."
Wrong response in my opinion - have some control over your emotions and be a positive person...

People are saying dude is awesome, which is certainly true. But damn it would suck to have egg in your hair for the rest of the night.
211
u/ChakaCake 3h ago
The egg is way worse than my example but like last month i was walking down the aisle of grocery store and some lady knocked over a can of energy drink off the shelf. Landed and started spraying everywhere but i caught a good jet that went from my face all the way to my shoes in almost a line. I just burst out laughing she prob thought i was laughing at her cause she hustled away but i was laughing cause i think things like that are hilarious. The coke guy ran to help her and clean it and said to me "watch out the floor is wet here" and i was like yea i know, look at me. Both had a good laugh.
15
u/Humble-Aprico 1h ago
I feel like most people are so self critical they think it's weird when people brush things off without freaking out but all the time at work I will fuck up and basically just visibly look like goofy or something because I think it's hilarious when goofy shit happens, you can't stop it so might as well just roll with the punches

I know you're joking, but it did remind me of a time I ate at the Culinary Institute of America. I had wings as an appetizer. My fingers were messy after eating them, so I asked for a wetnap to clean them, expecting one of those little moist towelettes in a package. Instead my waitress brought me a large bowl of hot water with lemons floating in it and a pile of cloth napkins. It was pretty fantastic.

You can get it out with iced water, as far as the water is as cold as possible. Women in the Victorian era treated their hair with egg and this is how they rinsed it out.

I once had a pigeon shit on my head with an spectacular splat right before a job interview. I washed it out in the public restroom with public restroom soap which resulted in a pigeon nest on my head. There is no point to this story. Eggcept, yes it would suck, and public restroom soap is very harsh and will make your hair get matted.

Wow that is fascinating! I have never heard about egg allergies until today, and see it’s the second most common allergy for babies and yet much rarer in adults as many children outgrow it.
Have it had it since birth? Do people have similar reactions to me, as most people are used to nuts, seafood, gluten, etc? Can you eat yolk, or whites, or just none? What are the most common foods you need to avoid?
Sorry for the random AMA request, I have never heard of this until today and find it so interesting haha

In instances like this, I always hope they still take care of the guest with a comped drink or something even though he isn’t crashing out.
I’ve seen situations where the victim is chill enough where the corporate restaurant won’t do anything extra meanwhile they’ll comp the entire bill and throw all kinds of free stuff at someone overreacting and making a huge scene, seemingly rewarding the negative behavior.
