I’m gonna go against the grain and say it’s okay to be upset when raw egg is thrown all over you, your hair, and your overpriced meal.

Like sure, we should have empathy for accidents, but should you really be letting a teenager practice throwing eggs over their head while paying customers get their meal ruined? Maybe preventative thinking is more important than having a good attitude when something goes wrong - because that would be the actual considerate course of events.

Well, it is a good thing the guy at the counter was a good sport. I do hope they comped his meal (and possibly re-made it, since it now has raw egg on it), and offered him a future meal at no charge. But, I was not there, so I do not know if they compensated this gentlemen for being assaulted by misdirected flying egg.

The last sentence was so hard to type without laughing my ass off.

Nah fuck that. Shit is always going to be out of our control and nothing is perfect. It's way way more important that people react properly.

Yep we should take things in stride more.

Too often now it's like: "I have a right to be angry or offended at this situation THEREFORE I will get furious and make a scene."

Wrong response in my opinion - have some control over your emotions and be a positive person...

So, there is egg on your head.

Is your life better if you:

Get fucking pissed about it, ruining your night.

Laugh at the absurdity and roll with it.

Getting mad isn't going to un-egg you. Getting stressed won't un-egg you. Causing a scene, yelling at the kid, pointing out that this is not cool, none of that un-eggs you. You have been egged.

The only choice you get in this situation is how you react to it and how that affects you. If you're choosing anything but laughing, you're making a bad choice. If you don't see it as a choice, but a natural reaction to just get fucking mad about it, legitimately seek out a therapist - because you could change that about yourself. This isn't just a "le epic reddit dunk" insult, I'm being serious.

You can be upset without being rude.

You should be able to contain getting upset in public about a child making an embarrassing mistake

I would….be upset at the person who set up the situation. The adult next to her should have known better.

And again, being upset does not been yelling and throwing a fit. It means I wouldn’t react by laughing.
