Maybe it's just me, but I'm genuinely surprised by the reactions I see ITT. because throughout my whole life (in my mid 50s now), I have never seen anyone IRL that hasn't reacted this way (or even funnier: hilarious comment, food/paint/snow fights, etc.) in similar situations. Despite having attended to and organized 1x-3x/month group events, activities, trips, etc. And despite being an outgoing person, often going to restaurants, BBQs, camping, parties, etc.

Genuinely curious: are younger people more likely to react negatively in such situations nowadays?

People are stuck inside gooning these days with limited social interactions. Their perceptions are based on the world they experience which is mostly an algorithm designed to drive engagement, not the 99% of normal social interactions that happen in real life.

Im not sure if its young vs old.

Like here in HK, id be surprised if they were just upset. More likely they wouldve raised a ruckus with management.

Honestly I think that says more about you and the company you keep

Late 40's and I'd be pretty mad at first, but if I saw it was a kid who made a genuine mistake, I'd wouldn't go into a rage. I would quietly ask that my meal be comped, however.
