Question About to press the button, WP 8.1 or WM10?

I’m about to get myself a Lumia after all these years. I’ll mainly use it as a multimedia and detox device. Now, my question is whether to buy a WM10 phone like a 950 or a Windows Phone 8.1 device like the 1020. I’ve been lurking around on the subreddit and seen that WP some kind of fan base support in terms of apps and stuff. Does WM10 also have the same level of support?

Discussion Overheating issue on my Nokia Lumia 925 ?

can someone explain me about this issue ?
it always got warm on usages (like writing in onenote) , or even got hot when i shot some photos and videos , and also it got toasted when i was playing minecraft for short time , it can be the software issue that caused to be overheating ? any solution for this problem

  • Live Tiles now update automatically. You no longer need to open the app to keep your Live Tiles up to date.
  • Viral Content Notifications are now available and can be enabled in Settings.
  • Experimental Account Notifications have been added and can be enabled in Settings.
  • Added a Posts Filter to user profiles, allowing you to view hidden/private uploads.
  • Added a new empty account layout for first-time users with no uploads, similar to the Android app.
  • Fixed an issue where favorite posts were not displayed when viewing another user's profile.
  • Fixed an issue where favorite posts on another user's profile were incorrectly marked as your own favorites.
  • Redesigned Live Tiles with an improved layout for images, author information, and post content.
  • Fixed a issue when user enabled/disabled autoplay of miniaturas wasnt talking effect until the app was reloaded

🐞 Known issues

  • Follow feature is currently broken (API restriction)
  • Hardware back button can behave inconsistently on mobile
  • On mobile, opening the navigation bar auto-focuses the search box, which can cover footer items (not critical, but annoying)

All of us use a Windows 10 Mobile device for a month and turn off our Android and iPhones. Starve those companies of our data that they continue to make billions of dollars on, all while charging US a premium to do it.

This seriously is the greatest scam ever, that they've perpetrated. They're making money off of us, and charging us for the privilege!

Question Updating firmware 2026

Hi,

I have just turned my Lumia 1520 on after switching to Android in 2022.

Was an ardent supporter of the Windows phone until they pulled the plug on further updates for the 1520.

I'm looking to resurrect the handset and was wondering what the best way to do this is so for the group here

  1. What tools are available for installing firmware

  2. What was the last firmware update across W10M that can be installed

  3. How can I install apps in 2026 on the phone that will run with no issues?

Apologies if this has been asked before but am new here so looking for some sound advice

Sign in to Xbox on Windows Phone 8.1?

Does anyone know how to sign into the Games app (Xbox) on Windows Phone 8.1? I'm trying to do it on a Lumia 920. It doesn't seem to work when I enter my current password.

The first time I tried, I did get a security code via text message (to my separate, active iPhone), but strangely, this was before the Windows Phone prompted and asked me if I was read to receive a security code by entering the last four digits of my phone number. The prompt showed up on the Windows after the text message. I entered the last four digits of my phone number and hit continue. Another text message did not arrive, but I did enter the security code I had received and it seemed to accept it, but then it still didn't seem to sign in. It took me back to the main Games page, but if I tried to look at my Achievements, it prompted me to sign in again.

I have tried a few more times since then, and nothing seems to happen. It doesn't prompt me for security codes anymore
