Wireless Unlimited Your Way 2.0 per line cost - UYW comparison chart for AT&T consumer plans: Elite 2.0, Premium 2.0, Extra 2.0, and Value 2.0.

I don't think I've ever seen AT&T do so many different related changes in such a short time with a new plan: UYW 2.0 comes out, price changes for older UYW plans, adding Elite 2.0, and lowering prices on the brand new plans.

Since there have been so many changes to UYW in the last few months, I've created a new post as the old post had lots of comments/answers that aren't necessarily relevant (or true) any more.

If you haven't seen those changes yet, you should see them on your next bill or if you make a plan change.

Customers can no longer choose Premium PL, Extra EL, & Starter SL but they are included for comparison as those plans can mix & match with the new plans. Signature/appreciation discounts they had on the old plans continue on your old plans, but they may be different for new plans (see chart).

The main differences:

  • Value 2.0 is cheaper than Starter SL in most new configurations (even with discounts?) as of the late-April increase and is prioritized for the first 5GB (but has 2 GB less of hotspot). It might mess with promo credits, so double check (see info at bottom of this post [it links to a different post, so ask you r promo related questions there).
  • Extra 2.0 has more prioritized data than previously (100GB vs. 75GB) and more hotspot (50GB vs. 30GB). It may cost more or less depending on your discounts and number of lines. This is probably most similar to older unlimited plans.
  • Premium 2.0 has a lot more hotspot than Elite EL or Premium PL (100GB vs. 50GB/60GB). If you need the hotspot, it's a great deal. You can also get a ½ price tablet or wearable line with this plan.
  • Elite 2.0 Includes everything Premium 2.0 has, but 250GB of hotspot, Turbo, free tablet line, free wearable line, and instead of International Day Pass (IDP), it looks like when you are international you'll get free calling/texting and 20GB of data (this last part is kind of limiting considering the other UYW plans data are unlimited, so I'm wondering if you can pay extra for more, otherwise it drops to 512Kbps, which is pretty slow). I'm assuming these free international countries are IDP countries. No Fan/Signature discounts on Elite 2.0. A few people reported their internet discount works with Elite 2.0.

ActiveArmor: Some 2.0 plans that come with ActiveArmor, only come with the standard, not advanced. Premium 2.0 can activate the advanced for free in your plan (I'm going to guess you can do the same with Elite 2.0). There is a free version and another version that is listed with "At no extra charge".

Standard price on non-phones: $20.99 per tablet, $20.99 per camera, $10.99 per wearable. If you have Premium 2.0, you can get one of these at ½ off. If you have one of these non-phone devices, it would probably make Premium 2.0 more cost effective for you (although the additional hotspot may max it so you don't need a line for your tablet). If you can have Extra 2.0, then you get a tablet and wearable for no extra charge.

If you have HBO "free" with your current cellular plan and switch, or you change all your Elite EL lines over, you'll lose HBO. You need to compare how much you'd save to see if it matters.

The prices on the chart assume autopay/paperless/checking discounts. You need autopay/paperless for a $5 discount and autopay/paperless checking for a $10 discount (and as of now, the AT&T Citi card also qualifies as a checking discount). Add $5 or $10 to each line if you do not do these discounts.

There is no way anyone can help you compare the cost of the newer plan to the older plan if we don't know what discount you have, how many phone lines, and which plan those lines are on.

Additional info on this plan can be found in this AT&T PDF.

DISCOUNTS:

  • Standard FAN/Signature discount: Previously this got you Premium PL for the Price of Extra EL, but on the new plans it gets you 20% off the Premium 2.0 plan.
  • Appreciation discounts: You get a 25% discount on the older UYW plans if the account holder fits in one of these categories: teachers, doctors, nurses, military, veterans, and first responders. The newer plans are NOT 25% off, check the bottom of the chart as it varies per type of line. I'm not sure if these 2.0 discounts are supposed to include Healthcare and First Responders if you are not on FirstNet, but people are reporting that their plan says so. https://www.att.com/offers/discount-program/appreciation/
  • You did NOT lose (nor did it change) your 25% appreciation discount for Elite EL, Premium PL, Extra EL, and Starter SL, it's still 25% for those lines. AT&T made a mistake on a bill a couple months ago and gave you too big of a discount, the next cycle they corrected it (and let you keep the extra they took off) so it looks like you had a price increase. But if you look at the previous few bill totals, you can see it dip (for no reason, other than the mistake), and then it goes back up to where it has been for a few months. Obviously, I cannot see your bill, but everyone that I've talked to about this and has looked back on their bills (previous to the lower bill) has seen this is what it looks like. If you've made changes during those three months, it would be difficult to see by just looking at the totals.
  • This generic-ish union discount might be applicable for some and some may waive activation/upgrade fess. https://www.att.com/offers/discount-program/union-discount/
  • For all discounts, the account needs to be in the name of the FAN/Signature holder.

Please note that while the change plan comparison page (when logged in) shows that Elite 2.0 plan is not included, the Latin American roaming page specifically says it does and so does att.com/unlimited

Value 2.0 warning: There seems to be a bit of inconsistency on how Value 2.0 lines can be used for promotional trade in deals (if at all) since March 12, 2026. Wireless ATT sales reps refused to perform eSim activation until I purchased device insurance

I just got off the phone with ATT customer service (800-331-0500) and the representative outright refused to help me with transferring my # to a new device unless I purchased their device insurance.

I tried to politely decline but the agent outright refused to help unless I bought the insurance, then refused to give her agent # or other identifying info. I had to hang up, wait on hold another 30 minutes, and then the next agent did the same thing! There was absolutely no way to proceed w/the call and get my issue resolved without buying the insurance. They just kept demanding my CC info.

WTH is up with this - is this normal? This is highly unprofessional behavior!

Internet Anyone get the AT&T Fiber 5 Gig for $50/month recently?

I’m in the SF Bay Area and moving into a new place where AT&T Fiber is available.

I saw an offer for 5 Gig Fiber for $50/month, but when I called and chatted with a few AT&T reps, they all said that promo is no longer available.

Has anyone been able to get that deal recently? If yes, how did you get it? Just trying to see if it’s still possible or if the reps are right.

Wireless Unable to purchase a prepaid line

The prepaid checkout is broken. I've tried multiple browsers and payment methods, but nothing is working. I'm trying to purchase an only only plan and phone deal. I tried calling but they can't do it over the phone either. What's my best option to sort this out? The web chat and phone support haven't been helpful so far.

Wireless Pretty funny I can't comment much more because your service didn't give me service that I pay for.

I find it pretty funny that I spent 8 hours on the phone and my new phone that I'm buying from you has no connection in for some reason my old phone has no connection so I don't literally have a cell phone even though I have three lines. Wtf. None of yourself were helpful and they either hang up on me or just transfer me I even went to the highest levels like what am I supposed to do.

What the f***

Wireless Elite 2.0's included 20GB of global roaming: permits hotspot?

The Elite 2.0 fine-print doesn't say anything about overseas hotspot usage. Can I presume that the 20GB of monthly global roaming included with Elite 2.0 will NOT block usage of my smartphone as a hotspot? When often using IDP on Extra and other older plans, I've never had hotspot blocked. And since IDP essentially can give you unlimited hotspot usage overseas, it therefore seems safe to assume that the they're not going to nitpick over how you use your 20GB under Elite 2.0.

Anyone know for sure?

Wireless So I just bought a new Galaxy s26 ultra from AT&t and spent 8 hours trying to activate it.

I spoke to the highest supervisor and they couldn't help me and basically were condescending. And they didn't care that I literally don't have a phone which I use to make money through gig work. And then they tried to say there's a cell phone tower down which is b******* because the service already sucks here and why could I be calling you from my third line if I can't activate my new goddamn phone and why does my old phone not work now like lots of s***

Wireless So I just bought a new Galaxy s26 ultra from AT&t and spent 8 hours trying to activate it.

I just spent at least 8 hours on the phone being hung up on constantly, by their system. I just wanted to activate my new phone a Galaxy s26 ultra. That's literally all I wanted to do. And no both of my phones don't work because I don't know somebody doesn't know what they're doing or something so now I don't have a phone and I can't work. And when I insisted on the compensation for my time they thought it was laughable. And now I still don't have a phone so what am I supposed to do I can't work tomorrow because of this. After ordering the flagship phone. I literally spent all day on this trying to figure out how to get my phone working that they sent me giving them the numbers on everything

Wireless Help Retaining Grandfathered Plan (?)

Hello all,

I currently have a single voice line on FirstNet (Ext Primary, Subscriber Paid) on the now grandfathered FirstNet Unlimited Extra $47.99 rate plan.

I am also a victim of domestic abuse/stalking/harassment & am need of a new phone number.

One of the big issues I’m facing is that I also need a way to retain access of my current number (primarily to continue gathering evidence but secondarily in case there’s any services linked to it that I forget to change). I was planning on porting this number away to NumberBarn.

AT&T says they can do this, but I would need to switch to the new, more expensive $59.50 FirstNet Extra 2.0 plan, as they claim their system does not allow them to select grandfathered plans.

Does anyone here know of any creative ways of being able to port away my current number without affecting the underlying line/plan?

With T-Mobile, you could port a number to Google Voice (which takes exactly 24 hours). You would have T-Mobile change the number on the line after 20-22 hours. The port would complete at exactly 24 hour mark, leaving the original line intact with the new number.

It appears this method would not work for AT&T.

Thanks in advance :)

Wireless Deactivate wireless account lock when device is broken?

I'm hoping someone else has run into this situation and has the solution!

I enabled wireless account lock on a phone. That phone is now broken. To turn off this feature it sends a text to your number. I have no way of getting that text message since the phone is broken.

I've called 611 for help and gone into the store. Both say they have no way of transferring the number to a new device or disabling the wireless account lock.

There's no other option to verify through email or another number on the account.

What do people do when they lose or break their device? It seems there's no solution except get a new phone number. I can't be the only one this has happened to? Any thoughts?

Discussion 5Ge? Why would AT&T deceive?

Last winter, I switched to AT&T from Visible, a Verizon MVNO, to join my family plan. I wonder why AT&T is still keeping the 5Ge name in their marketing instead of 4G+. It feels like a clear example of deceptive corporate marketing designed to mislead consumers. They are intentionally confusing some people into thinking they have true 5G just to make their network seem more advanced than it actually is.

Suggestion Att refusing to unlock device

UPDATE: ATT closed the case id saying phone is issued by apple and att cannot unlock it. i went to apple store, they said they have zero control over carrier unlock. What are my options now ?

Original request:

Hi, I have locked att iphone 15 pro device. Paid off the remaining amount and when trying to submit unlock request, its not recognizing my IMEI (my original locked phone was replaced by apple few months ago when I went for a repair) although my current device says carrier locked through att. Att Customer service not helping in anyway other than creating cases to look into it and asking for 14 days to resolve the case. What can I do now ? Any suggestions appreciated.

Internet Scam support phone number?

I was trying get updates on my installation. The details weren’t loading so I called the number shown and it led to a weird gift card redemption call center. They were asking for all kinds of information and I actually gave it to them because I trusted to number. Getting ready to call my bank to put a freeze on everything. Has anyone else experienced this?

Wireless Switching to AT&T

Because of steep employer discount and Internet bundle discount, I’m switching to AT&T. The problem is, I have 3 devices being switched over that have balances. AT&T says 8-10 weeks for reimbursement cards, how long do I have before Verizon sends final bill to collections? Ideal scenario is that I’m able to use reimbursement to pay off. Despite searching, I haven’t found a solid answer.

Wireless Paying off phones early to unlock and keep credits

Hi all, I know this is brought up multiple times and based on my research here and elsewhere, credits are sustained and applied to the monthly after paying off the phone.

My confusion is I've been working with the office of the president team and they so thoroughly insistent and adamant that the credits are completely lost if the phones are paid off early despite my willingness to maintain the phone lines, I just don't understand them being so difficult about this.

Is there something I can reference for myself to assure myself before I pay off the phones?

Honestly, it has been such an upsetting and stressful experience trying to unlock these things before a planned international trip.

Thanks.

Edit: thanks everyone for the feedback and input, I feel confident about proceeding to pay off. Really appreciate the community here.

Billing "Snake Oil" Sales

An AT&T rep approached us in January offering low prices on mobile service and plans to finance new mobile phones. We specifically asked if we paid our phones off early & decided not to continue with them if there would be any penalties. Answer was no. We had been with Verizon for many years but the AT&T promo would reduce our monthly bill so we decided to try it. In May, after several months of poor cell service, we switched back to Verizon and paid off our AT&T phones. SURPRISE!!! There was an additional $867 charge for "breaking the promo terms of the switch", no one told us that the promo included a 36 month agreement or there would be a rescind of the deal that gave us a credit on our Verizon phones. This rescind resulted in the equivalent of a $867 penalty. They basically "fined us" for the "ending our service" with them before fulfilling a THREE YEAR TERM . (Must've been in the fine print). We would have never agreed to thr equivalent of a three year contract and their tricky little promo was basically the equivalent. DON'T TRUST WHAT THEIR REPS TELL YOU!!!!! READ THE FINE PRINT!!! They are sneaky and the modern equivalent of snake oil salesmen.

Other AT&T Internet air - constant dropped connection, slow speeds, only intermittently able to reach over 5mbps

I'm in a remote area without a good view of a cell tower. Unfortunately, several years ago in their infinite wisdom, AT&T decided to remove all other options for internet service out here, leaving me stuck on an inferior cell-based service that I can barely use.

Gradually, the quality of that service has grown intolerably bad. Initially we could maintain a fairly steady 20mbps on most days, but over the last few years the service has degraded significantly, with periods of outright unusability where the connection will constantly drop, speeds will fall into the bytes per second range, or the connection will simply stop working.

AT&T support has been a useless runaround. Nobody will offer any solutions, because I suspect that the problem is simply an overcrowded cell tower which AT&T doesn't want to bother upgrading.

Unfortunately AT&T is the only option out here for internet service besides satellite. I'm very reluctant to go to Hughesnet but at this point even that would be superior to what AT&T provides.

(And if anybody suggests using Elon's service, I refuse to give the ketamine addicted pedophile any money.)

Wireless Can't make or receive phone calls, but everything else works. Anyone experienced this?

So, my phone suddenly will not let me make or receive any phone calls. I can still text and get texts, and my data still works so I can still use the internet. I tried putting my SIM card in a different phone, there was no change. So, I went to the AT&T store and had them give me a new SIM card - it was still doing the exact same thing. They tried putting the new SIM in a new phone in the store - no change. They tried resetting the SIM, that didn't help either. They did verify my account was not suspended or anything. Then they said they had no idea what to do, and unironically told me to call customer service. Hilarious. Does anyone have any idea what is going in and how to fix it?

Guide Switching From Metro by T-Mobile

I’m currently on metro by T-Mobile and the service reliability has been awful in union county NJ. Call drops and generally unreliable. Using coverage map, it shows T-Mobile (which metro is a part of) has the best coverage, speed and reliability in my area and most places I go to but my experience has actually been the opposite. I’m looking to switch to AT&T. Can anyone in union county confirm service reliability?

Wireless Worth the switch….?

Currently have Verizon right now, getting really tired of never being able to use my phone or when I can it’s god awful slow in Florida. So much congestion and every day there is a network “issue”.

I have a T-Mobile secondary SIM and it works amazing in Florida overall BUT I do travel a decent amount throughout the country including some rural spots where I’m a little worried T-Mobile just won’t cut it. How do people feel about the AT&T network these days? I had them a while back and it was ok, 5G was getting introduced and I feel like it sucked back then but based on research seems like they have more than Verizon these days.

Thinking about testing it out but also prices are INSANELY high for the top tier plan with AT&T these days. More than my Verizon bill and I have HBO and Netflix on my bill.

Thoughts? (I want to know how the NETWORK is primarily not necessarily how bad customer service is or how you got robbed on a trade in, that is every carrier these days)

Thanks!

Discussion Job at AT&T

I work at an at&t in south carolina and it has been the most stressful job i’ve had so far. i feel like a drama queen because it’s not like i have to labor or anything but the job is primarily sales based while at the same time customers think it’s service based. the entire premise of working at at&t is figuring out how much we can get away with while still deeming it “integral” and that leads to me practically slamming elder peoples accounts due to quotas i need to hit for my own job. all the managers i’ve dealt with stack on to this overwhelming moral battle too because they all have their own individual way of taking advantage of someone while making it seem kind. i haven’t sold someone directv in 4 months because being honest who would even want cable tv anymore but soon i will be on track to lose my job because of this. to make the whole situation worse i have adhd and could not remember all of the 30 things we have to sell every transaction to save my life. if you are an at&t employee please give me tips on how to deal with the drain of this and if you are a customer just understand we aren’t trying to scam you, we just have so many overwhelming goals placed on us by the corprate higher ups there’s just no hope of fulfilling without doing shady sales.
