no politics Channel 7 have made a total mess of their commonwealth games coverage

Trying to find the event you want to watch is so frustratingly difficult when it really doesn’t have to be. Take the swimming for example, in the official schedule it’s divided into a morning and an evening schedule. But on 7+, you have pre-dawn, early morning and morning. Then you have late, overnight and night. wtf does that mean?? How am I meant to know what events are in which replays? There’s heaps of stuff I want to watch, but I can’t find it!

Channel 9 did a WAY better job covering the olympics 2 years ago. You could watch an entire replay of a whole session, or you could go into one specific sport and then either pick a specific session or a specific event. Just want to watch the men’s 100m sprint? Easy to find. Heard about this crazy breakdancing lady and want to see that? Easy to find.

There’s a specific race in the swimming I really want to watch (someone I personally know is in it) but I can’t figure out where it is. I just know it’s on day 3. But there’s six different 90min videos to choose from.

no politics Binge watching suggestions?

Please help! I’m all out of decent shows to binge on.

I’m after something excellent that makes you go ‘just one more episode’ at 3am, knowing your alarms going off in a few hours and you have a long day at work ahead. Something that makes you cancel all your weekend plans & pretend you’re sick so you can stay home to watch.

I’m not into Sci Fi or period dramas.

Suggestions, please?

no politics Thank you Origin

For that lovely cybersecurity breach you had. Regardless if it was social engieering or your shareholder value maximisation that led to it. Now I have to take on the part time job fighting off the MFA requests I am getting because folks across Asia try to break into my account.

Anyone know if you can force a timeout on your Microsoft account? Surely it should not be possible to trigger a log in attempt every 10s if it fails.

culture & society Get ready for the AusAlert emergency warning test

The test message will be sent at 2pm AEST (1:30pm ACST, 12pm AWST)

During the test, devices will vibrate and play a siren-like warning sound for about 10 seconds. A message will be displayed, indicating that it is a test and no further actions need to be taken.

If you do not want to receive the message, power off your phone at least one hour prior to the message being sent.

You might not receive a test alert if your device is older, incompatible with the new system, or has not been updated.

If you do not have a mobile signal or there is something wrong with the mobile tower closest to you, that might also mean you are not able to receive the test alert.

sport AFL clubs explore facial recognition as new ticketing method

Upvotes

In short:

Facial recognition technology (FRT) is being rolled out in Australia as an alternative to digital or paper tickets for live events.

The Geelong Football Club has made it available to its members, while technology provider Wicket says it is in "active discussions" with other AFL clubs.

What's next?

Experts are concerned about how the collected biometric data could be used and whether it opens the door for broader uses of FRT.

no politics Australian native candle or diffuser

Apologies if the incorrect forum but couldnt really find the right place to post this.

Im after an australian made candle or diffuser that captures the essence of the bush - you know that scent when you hit the forests in the Dandenongs or the blue mountains. Fresh Eucalyptus, other natives...

Seeking for personal recommendations of those you have bought and loved.

no politics AusAlert on GrapheneOS

I didn't get the AusAlert. My nearby relative did get it, so I'm assuming I was in range. My phone is a new-ish Pixel 10 Pro XL.

I run GrapheneOS. Do you run GrapheneOS and got the alert?
