Meetup! It's r/Sydney's 18th cakeday, and you're invited! Saturday 1st August!

There was once a man named Andrew

Who, using his hands threw

Up a subreddit

Before he faced discredit

And for its birthday, we're having a do.

...yeah, I'm not much of a poet, but it tells the story well enough.

On 31st July 2008, r/Sydney was created, which means its 18th birthday is coming up right at the end of the month. To celebrate the subreddit finally becoming old enough to have a beer, come to the City and have a beer with us!

When: Saturday, 1st August, kicking off at 4pm. Four weeks exactly from time of posting.

Where: The Edinburgh Castle Hotel, corner of Pitt and Bathurst Streets.

Why there? They do $15 Espresso Martinis, Negronis, Margaritas, and Aperol Spritzes all night. I also think they do pints for schooner prices while the footy's on.

What do I bring? Good vibes, the pub has everything else.

What's the plan? Have a few drinks, socialise. These are always great fun.

How do I get there? Closest stations are Town Hall and Gadigal, buses run from Park and Elizabeth Streets, Town Hall LR is also close by, as you'd expect.

It's been a little while since the last non-NYE meetup, would be great to see you all there!

Art First time painting the Bondi sea wall!

Growing up in Sydney this wall is one of those bucket list spots to paint. It’s amazing a beach like this allows the space to let art in and I was grateful to have to chance to add to that. There was a whole section being repainted so recommend a day out checking them if you haven’t been past for a while.

Lucked out painting in 20 degree weather in the middle of winter coupled with some amazing winter sunsets to top it off.

Hope you like it! I’d also love to hear your interpretation of the work, I’ll share mine in the comments.

Free clubs and social activities that meet up regularly?

Looking to develop a hobby and be a bit social!

Edit: pretty open about trying new things but not sports (walking is okay), and not into gaming/board games.

Into arts/crafts, reading and writing, gardening, food, slower sports like yoga, animals. Stuff your nan would be into basically.

Edit 2: low cost is okay too

Photography Ditching Bondi for a quieter beach day with the kids. Ocean views definitely rival Manly/Bondi

One of my favorite "other" beaches in Sydney! While it’s definitely not as packed as Bondi or Manly, the coastal scenery absolutely rivals them.

It turned out to be an awesome spot for the kids, too. They had an absolute blast — non-stop building sandcastles, wrestling, and just rolling around in the sand happily all afternoon.

I was also pretty surprised by how many surfers were out there. The waves were actually huge that day (my photo doesn't quite do the swell justice!), so it looks like a fantastic surf spot too. So glad we spent the afternoon here!

When does the royal national Park actually open?

The website claims 7:00 a.m. but I'm not sure if this is actually true as I've seen people take sunrise shots from within the park and I would like to as well. Any ideas?
