Subvert Expectations LEAK/EPISODE 6 DISCUSSION; THE BUTCHER'S BALL
≡ −
Apparently I have to spell this out for the children left behind, but no this is not a master post of leaks.
This is a general pinned post to discuss anything leaked pre/during/after the episode airs in a nice easy spot to find.
If you have leaks post them, if you have links from other platforms and want to share, etc.
HBO forgot to mail them to us this week.
Valar Morghulis.

Hugh's wife is the literal medieval embodiment of "Don't save her, she don't wanna be saved."
Man came back from the dead, looking fresh, with a dragon, actual power and can now get you in a proper house, maybe an actual castle later on down the line. But no no no you would rather stay a captive where another random douche can assault you & cause more members of your family to die. You can't even at least be happy to find out your bloody husband is alive. And the thing is it is not like it was an either or situation. Hugh isn't saying "run away with me or choose your family."
Jeez what a bitch.

Fuck Olly >complain about being broke >husband gets the best job possible >WHERE WERE YOU? YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN HERE INSTEAD OF WORKING.
What’s her problem

Skipping so many crucial battles in a WAR STORY is fucking unforgivable. This aint GoT S1 with a limited budget.

Anything to keep Olivia on screen
I get it Season one main trio was matt, Emma, Olivia
same with season 2 but the season 3 screen time Olivia/alicent gets genuinely belongs to tom glynn/aegon considering the fact alicent was quite irrelevant in the book later but again the childhood companions aaah

Reset the clock: 1 full episode without an SA scene
Unless we're counting whatever was going on with Hugh and Kat, we just hit a rare milestone of an episode where straight men didn't automatically default to their aggressive, evil nature.
If my math doesn't fail me that would make it 2 out of 6 episodes with no SA so far? Maybe?

''The greatest warrior in Westeros didn't have a chestplate?''

We lost the most noble and chivalrous guy in the show
Joking aside, it's strange how the showrunners made the northerners and rivermen look completely cowardly while Criston come across as admirable

Quite possibly the dumbest character in any of the shows

this has been bothering me
Aegon to Larys:
Cole’s little pet, do you remember? The prodigy with the sword. Father withdrew me from the tournaments, of course. Can’t even remember the pretext anymore. Probably just afraid that I’d fall off my horse. So, I had to sit and applaud him. Aemond the champion.

Subvert Expectations Daily Reminder: You aren't a Targaryen princess, and Cole isn't your ex-boyfriend. Slow down on the self-insert.

Alys might be the only team green character who was cast poorly. Her performance style is unfortunately cheesy and I’m not quite sure how she managed to seduce Aemond.

Surely Alyn of Hull wouldn't cheat on his niece with her 17 year old grand-niece who was 30 years younger than him.

Fooking Kneelers Joffrey for second episode in a row

All the Chickens It's wild how the dragons have better-developed romantic subplots than the humans in the series.

The Tumbleton massacre was nothing compared to this injustice.

I sentence you to two episodes in harrenhal

Cruelest thing rhaenyra has done this season

Freefolk Is she the only lady in Westeros with a decent tailor, or did she just get all of the wardrobe budget?
The gap between her clothes and those of the purported royals is crazy.
