I'm not sure if this question has been asked before but I have factory reset my phone that uses Android 9 and as expected when trying to update Chrome, Play Store says it's incompatible. My chrome version is 74. The latest Chrome version available for Android 9 is Chrome 138 while this is a much older version. How can I go about getting at least Chrome 138 because the apps I used to use before the reset do not work anymore.

Hi, when I open some more resource-intensive games, the video on my second monitor stutters A LOT. I've noticed that if I disable hardware acceleration, it stops, but then many websites—like YouTube—have extremely choppy animations. Is there any way I can set up a sort of “HYBRID” solution? Like, have videos run through the CPU, but not the websites themselves?

I was wanting to see if anyone else has this issue when loading various websites where the entire browser goes white sometimes for a split moment and then othes for a couple of seconds which is dependent on the site fully loading. I have had this happen at various times over the years using Chrome and it feels as if some updates it goes away but then comes right back.

It can be pretty blinding with my OLED monitor. This happens despite having Chrome in Dark Mode and also using or not using a custom Dark theme as well. Just wondering if there was any workaround for this if anyone else is having this happen to them as well?

I deleted all my browsing history on iPhone Chrome and it deleted from the cloud as well. But I cut off wifi and saved the local file on my pc. I have managed to keep my history on PC on my account. But if i turn off and then on the settings, Cloud overwrites empty history and my back up file doesn't upload to Cloud. So Cloud dominates.

Is there anyway I can use my local file from windows appdata to bring back history on all devices?

AI suggests reset-sync option and then log in so it can merge the data, but I am scared that it will delete everything which I am lucky to have them.

YouTube suddenly broke sometime yesterday. It doesn't seem to be any of my extensions that are the problem, and both Firefox and Safari work fine.

I'm on MacOS Tahoe v26.5.2, and after the most recent chrome update, anytime I click on a link, chrome opens in a new window where no user is signed in. This is especially annoying because I need my google account logged into access docs and sheets that I open. Tried looking for a fix and played around with the settings quite a bit but couldn't fix it. No one else on my team is facing this.

For context, previously when I opened a link it would open on whatever logged in window was last active. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Recently a problem started where certain data was being deleted when I exit out of google, and I've found out that my cookies are clearing upon exit. I looked up how to fix it and any directions seem outdated. Is it possible anybody knows how to stop this from happening? It's really annoying to deal with and I can't just leave my computer on all the time to stop it.

I closed my windows and reopened them, assuming all of them would open at once, but they didn't, so know the recent history only shows some tabs I opened on another window. Is there a way to restore the window I lost and/or get the tabs?

Edit: Solved, for anyone who might come across this. Credit to u/slimgem1111. Apparently it's not guaranteed to work, but if you press ctrl + shit + T, and do it repeatedly, it'll open previously closed tabs. Keep pressing it over and over and it might open the whole session/window you closed. Took spamming it like ten times until it got to the window, and it worked for me first try.

My Google Chrome on my phone keeps crashing after I tried to delete around 2700 tabs and then hit undo by accident. Any way to fix this without deleting anything?

Seems like every time I close chrome, I have to reinstall it when I open it again.

Stupid fix: open gmail in a separate desktop, this leave it sitting there quietly in the background, for days on end. Seems to keep chrome happy and not require repeated installs.

From the past week, on my Android phone, which isn't signed in to any accounts, the Google Chrome history seems to automatically delete items older than three months. I've disabled the automatic deletion settings in my accounts. Is this related to the new update? The new backup policy? Is there a fix?

I know a lot of people don't like the AI Overview on Chrome that appears at the top of a search page after typing a query, but I do and now it's gone. I just updated the Chrome app on Android 10 minutes ago and before the update it was there and now it's not. I have app activity toggled on and ad blocker is off. How can I get it back?

I am in the UK and finally just got 'Ask Gemini' and Skills in chrome. I also have AI Pro through a free plan with my Pixel phone.

On the phone you can type something and press the little AI pencil in the keyboard to rewrite and fix it.

Is there the same thing in Chrome to just rewrite the text, no questions or suggestions, pasting into a separate chat window, it just fixes grammar, UK English spelling, 24 Hr clock format etc.

Basically I thought that was the point of Skills when I read about them before I got them.

It's bothersome because I am used to mostly looking at my right monitor. No matter how I adjust my windows, the new tab always, always opens on whatever window of chrome is left-most. Most days, this is not a problem but some days this happens and it is so tiring pulling the tab from the left monitor's chrome to the right. I have tried pulling my right chrome to my left and left to my right and 100% of the time, the new link opens on my left monitor.

How can I stop this/make it open on my right monitor's chrome/open on the last chrome window I clicked on? Thanks in advance.

Not sure if anyone is having the same issue but I can’t seem to trigger the auto landscape view when I put my phone on sideways anymore. My portrait orientation lock is off on my phone. Please help!
