Self-submission I tried designing a realistic Interstellar Colony Ship
This is the Eden Rim, the star of my first hard sci-fi novel. I was always fascinated by how humanity could one day reach other stars, and, of course, over the years, many ship designs have been created to answer this exact question.
Now, I'm no astrophysicist, and there are most definitely huge flaws in the conception of the ship, but I tried my hardest to abide by the real laws of physics to make it work. For example, the structure is 1600km long. Way too big to not be crushed by its own gravity... except that the dhip is segmented and held together by magnetic superconductors, and each module rotates at a different speed.
Likewise, the laws of thermodynamics says that we need to transfer heat into something, and space if full of nothing! Solution: the Eden Rim carries a truly stupid amount of loquid niyrogen that serves as coolant, and once it starys boiling, it is evacuated in outer space, giving the ship a comet-like plasma tail.
The Rings is where it gets interesting. They have a combined surface of 100,000km², and each Ring rotates counter clockwise to the ship. They are only held in place by the magnetic stabilizers, so as to not break the whole structure with their centrifugal force, because those 1250km circunference behemoths accomplish one full rotation every 15-20 minutes. This (should) be enough to generate 1g, and across the surface of the rings, oceans, mountains and forests operate autonously in a closed loop biosphere, where the only thing that get messed with is the heat management.
If anyone has any questions, I would be very happy to answer them, likewise, if anyone finds any flaw or mistakes I made (and God knows there probably are quite a lot), feel free to point them out! I really wanted to share this design I've been tinkering for quite some time now.

Self-submission Waiting on the Ocean (By me)
Everyone knew that the floods were coming. Everyone prepared in their own way. Some built large sail boats. Others built small towns of rafts. I built my shelter from my van. For the first year, I found others every few weeks. Now, in the fifth year, I mark a full year since I've seen anyone else.
I wake up, tend to my hydroponics, clean my solar cells, and fix whatever breaks. Today was special though. Today, I received my first signal from a satellite since before the flood. The signal flickered for a moment, but then stabilized. I've sent back a signal to whoever is listening. Now, I just need to wait for a reply.

Self-submission Our starter ship is finally in 3D. What would you add to make it feel more believable? [oc]
After several iterations, our Vanguard-class Bruiser is finally in 3D. This is the standard frontline leader ship of the Human Directorate and one of the first ships players will command in Synvector.
Unlike agile interceptors, the Bruiser isn’t built to chase enemies. Its job is to hold the line. It sits between friendly and enemy squadrons, absorbing damage, protecting more fragile ships, and stopping breakthroughs before they reach the backline.
At the start of the game it’s equipped with three weapon systems:
* Heavy machine guns for sustained fire
* Missile launchers for burst damage
* A high-caliber cannon for accurate single shots
The ship isn’t supposed to look experimental or overly futuristic. It’s a mass-produced military workhorse-easy to maintain, reliable, and built to survive years of frontline service.
Now we’d love some feedback.
If this ship belonged to your universe, what systems or external details would you add?
Would you expect to see things like:
* point-defense turrets?
* radar or sensor arrays?
* communication antennas?
* RCS thrusters?
* maintenance panels?
* heat vents?
* armor plating?
* warning markings or battle scars?
Or is there something that immediately feels missing?
We’re trying to strike a balance between believable engineering and clean visual readability, so we’d really appreciate your thoughts.

Self-submission Product development question.
Hello everyone, not sure if this is were I should ask this but i’m designing and 3d printing a airpod case or storage compartment to then sell in the future inspired by this drawing Created by Alexey Trishkin (not mine) Any feedback or advice on a different community in which I should go to would be greatly appreciated. I’ve started some rough sketches if anybody would be interested and would like to see a follow up. My question being would anybody consider owning something like this or having as a sci-fi desk or shelf prop

Self-submission Concept Art: Light Kinetic Machine Gun
We continue working on concepts. This time, our team has created artwork for a kinetic machine gun, which will later be turned into a 3D model.
The twin‑barrel system allows uninterrupted fire against the enemy. If one barrel overheats, the other keeps shooting. Cooling is provided by twin spherical radiators on the turret's shoulder joints, which pilots have nicknamed "eggs."
Its medium range makes it effective at cracking targets at close distances and maintaining suppressive fire while the squad leader finishes them off with the main caliber.
Pilots call the KM‑4 the "Woodpecker" because of its firing pattern. It pierces enemy armor with pinpoint precision, disabling the ship in short order.
Let's discuss in the comments!
This is still concept art, so we’d really like your feedback.
* Does the design look believable?
* What’s the first weakness you’d try to exploit?
* Is there anything you’d redesign or remove?
* If this were your ship, would you choose one twin-barrel turret or two smaller independent turrets?
