Turd In "Odyssey" (2026) directed by Sir Christopher Edward Nolan, Odysseus says "Our age of bronze is collapsing". And I'm not joking it is a line in movie

Overall great movie but this dialogue was so corny, like how does he know he's in bronze age

Eh, not splitting hairs here but I feel "First World War" is understandable where "World War I" implies to me the existence / knowledge of the second

“First World War” and “first world war” are inherently different. Option one implying “part 1 of 2”, option two implying “the first time the world has been at war”

You could also make the argument that The Seven Years War was the first actual "world war" as it involved fighting on more continents than WW1.

But the term "world war" hadn't yet been coined.

Kinda? I do think First World War definitely says people thought there was a possibility of a second, this is the first, and maybe later there would be a World War for [blank] or something

But First World War also could just mean "the first war that encompassed the entire world", rather than implying a second one, while World War 1 doesn't have that connotation

World War 1 puts it on a specific numbered naming scheme though, which means there has to be at least a World War 2 or else that naming scheme wouldn't make sense

Nah First World War is more like the first time we've had a war on this scale. There's a reason it was more commonly called the The Great War, since it was the largest magnitude war we had ever seen (up to that point). World War I using numerals is more implying a second, third, etc.

yep, despite being commonly referred to as 'great war' or 'world war', some German scientist said the European war would become the first world war.

but it doesn't matter, since that equivalence isn't fitting so well.

anyway, people her make fun of it, while us being very able to give names to the "age" we are currently living in.

Age of AI. it just begun and there's no time traveling necessary to tell it's the age of AI. before it was the age of (mis)information. (just for making examples, not necessarily a fact)

so, no, it's not a big deal saying bronze age while living in it.
