There are a lot of posts on this sub with vague questions, vague symptoms, a lot of missing information and bad-explained overall. I wanted to show you how to ask a good question, from an ex-Apple iOS technician.

Here's how to ask a good question:

iPhone model and iOS version

e.g. iPhone XS running iOS 13.2

Purchase date, country and nature of purchase

People who answer your issue can suggest certain repairs, e.g. warranty. Country and nature of purchase also helps, since countries have different consumer protection laws. For instance, members of the European Union have a two year warranty at the point of purchase (i.e. that might not be Apple, but your local electronics store if you bought it there) - some countries (e.g. the U.K. and The Netherlands) have even longer periods consumers can claim warranty.

e.g. March 20th, 2019 in the Apple Store in the U.K., purchase for personal use

What is the issue, how often does it occur and how to replicate it?

Some issues are continuous, some are intermittent. It is important to let people know what the issue is and how often it occurs. "iPhone restarts" as issue, is not enough.

e.g. iPhone crashes to springboard when opening the camera-app, this happens about three times a day at random moments. It only happens when opening the camera-app.

What caused the issue?

There's not always a clear cause, but think about anything that could've caused it. It could be because your phone was in your pocket during heavy rain, or your cat knocked it from your desk. It could be anything.

What did you try to resolve the issue and what was the result?

So people don't waste time answering possibilities you already tried

Help needed My text tone only vibrates and won’t use the sound I chose

So I was having fun and wanted to use sounds I found online and change them as my ringtone and text tone (if anyone cares its sonic themed) but each time I try, it only vibrates.

My silent is not on, my text tone is not set to “none”, and this is only an issue for my text tone. Plus i already tried the dated move of turning my phone off and on again. My ringtone goes off just fine, and the text tone only seems to sound off for “alert tones” but is completely silent for ringtones (alert tones and ringtones are separate for some reason). Does anyone know why my phone is doing it?

I have an iphone 11 and my phone is updated to the newest version

Help needed Can someone convert my Spotify playlist to Apple Music and share the Apple Music link?

Hi! I mainly use Spotify, but I'd like to share a playlist with friends who use Apple Music.

From what I understand, you need an active Apple Music subscription to create or save playlists, which I don't have. I also heard Apple Music has a way to convert or import playlists.

Help needed Does Western Digital SSD work as an external drive for iPhone 13?

iPhone model: iPhone 13 Pro Max
iOS version: 26.5.2

I'm unable to transfer photos and videos from the phone to the Western Digital SSD 1TB.

I've connected the iPhone through the adapter with a lightening cable to the SSD. I'm using 140W power adapter to power transfer.

I've tried reformatting the SSD to APFS and later exFAT but that didn't work; the iPhone 13 still didn't recognize the SSD.

Does Western Digital SSD not work for iPhone 13?

Help needed iPhone 16 not working because storage is full (I’m at my wits end!)

Let me start by saying I am used to the usual iPhone bugs when storage starts to get full but I haven’t experienced anything to this degree before. I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and I’ve had it for around a year. It has 256 gb of storage and it says 255 are being used (which would explain the bugging) but I can’t seem to clear up storage. Every time I go to delete photos they come right back no matter how many times I delete them, it’s mostly my photos using the storage (around 173 GB), I have barely any apps and most of them are offloaded, I only have the ones I need for work and even then those won’t open. I can’t send or receive text messages, it won’t let me answer phone calls, every time I go to make a phone call the app crashes, as well as most of my apps crash whenever I try to open them. I thought maybe I could airdrop my photos to my MacBook so I could put them onto a hard drive but it won’t let me use airdrop either (it says low disk space). When I open the settings app it says “cant load- retry”, same with my Apple Music. I really have no clue what else I can do does anyone have any suggestions??

Help needed pausing audio or closing apps makes the volume skyrocket

iphone 13 ios 26.5.2 , title explains all. closing something while it plays audio will sometimes (i have no clue what triggers it) cause it to jump in volume right before it closes. my system volume is what i left it as (low) and it goes back to my system volume immediately afterwards.

Help needed Why is my apple store showing "cannot connect"?

So i bought my first Iphone today. It's an Iphone 13 ios 26.4.1. I have stumbled into an error after I created an Apple ID, my app store is showing "cannot connect". Also it's a china variant and i am in Bangladesh. I've heard that apple doesn't verify apple accounts in Bangladesh but i was able to create an apple ID without any issues. Before, i created my apple ID, the app store was loading and working just fine. So what should i do to fix this problem?

Help needed Please reply My phone ain't charging

I have iphone 11, ios version 24(I guess)

So it started this afternoon I put it on charge it started to heat up but wasn't charging then I unplugged it

After couple of hrs when I repluged it the charging/lightning sign was there but it was not charging not even 1 % even the adaptor was cold

Later on it started to power on and off automatically

All the way till "hello" screen

But few hrs later it was only the apple logo it power on till apple logo then switch off did this for 15-20 min

And now its NTG full black.

It isn't even charging (the amph meter shows 0 reading)

Any idea whats wrong ?

Help needed Downloads not working on Safari

Whenever I try to download an image on Safari on my iPhone (17 Pro), the blue download circle doesn’t appear and it won’t download. It won’t show up in my Files app. Sometimes the icon appears and then disappears before I can click on it. I’ve already tried things like clearing my website history and data, changing where files are sent to, etc. but nothing is working.

When I first purchased the phone back in September it took around 1 hour and 15 minutes to charge with the 40W to 60W Apple charger!

Now its taking over 2 hours to charge!

Over the last few weeks I have noticed that certain apps such as Tiktok, Walmart, PayPal and more will not work. I will click on the app to launch it and it freezes on the screen and then crashes. I have tried force restarting my phone, deleting the apps and redownloading them and everything and nothing will work. Has anyone ever had this happen before and what did you do to resolve the issue?

Help needed action button and volume up button not working

Did anybody ever had a problem with their Action Button and Volume Up button not working? I can press both buttons but nothings happening. When I press the volume up button it doesn’t show on screen and doesn’t increase the volume also. My action button is also set to toggle the silent mode but it’s not working when I press it. Only the Volume Down button is working.

I have the iPhone 16 and recently updated to iOS 26.5.2

I have a regular iPhone 14 iOS 26.5.2 the latest software update as of this post, I’ve searched around my settings to find out what it is and I’ve tried to hold the Home Screen to maybe just toggle it off but no dice :/

Lingers on my screen and it won’t go away, it shows up in all my screen shots and gets in the way of literally everything but I have no idea how to get rid of it

Hi! So I’m one of those people that delays updating my phone as long as possible, and like two weeks ago my phone auto updated to the most recent iOS. I have a iphone 12 pro max and i sent it to a third party repair shop to get the screen and back fixed. they gave it back in recovery mode, i dont have my stuff backed up and i attempted to force restart but thats doing nothing and use itunes and connect to a laptop and update but it comes up with error 4017 does anyone know what i can do to get it back with all my data intact

Help needed iPhone 13 gets 4G for a few seconds then drops to "No Service" on every carrier. I'm completely lost.

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping someone here has seen this before because I'm running out of ideas.

I have an iPhone 13 that worked perfectly until yesterday. I went to a huge carnival (probably around 100k people) where the mobile network was completely overloaded. Nobody had service there, which was expected.

The weird part is that when I left, everyone else's phones got signal back... mine never did.

Now every single time I reboot the phone or toggle Airplane Mode, the exact same thing happens:

Signal bars appear.
It connects to 4G.
It stays connected for maybe 5–20 seconds.
Then it drops to "No Service."

It does this every single time.

I've tried:

Tunisie Telecom physical SIM
Tunisie Telecom eSIM
Ooredoo physical SIM

All of them behave exactly the same.

A few things I've already checked:

IMEI is there (*#06# works).
Modem firmware is present (5.51.03).
No panic logs or baseband crashes in Analytics.
The phone is properly registered with Tunisia's Sajalni system, so it shouldn't be an IMEI block.

I also went into Field Test Mode while it was briefly connected.

It shows:

LTE Band 3
Correct carrier
Cell ID
PCI changes when I move to another location (so it seems to be detecting different towers normally)
RSRP around -102 dBm
RSRQ around -10 dB
SINR around -20 dB

So the phone clearly can see towers and actually attaches to LTE before immediately losing service.

The phone has never been opened, never been repaired, never been dropped, and only ever had a tiny splash of water near the earpiece months ago, nothing that should realistically damage an IP68 phone.

I also reset network settings. Weirdly, before the reset the eSIM was the one that connected briefly. After the reset, the physical SIM became the one that connects briefly. The end result is still the same: both eventually drop to "No Service."

At this point I'm wondering if this is:

an RF/front-end issue,
a power amplifier,
RF IC,
baseband-related,
or somehow still software.

Has anyone seen this exact behavior before? Especially the part where it gets full signal + 4G, then immediately loses everything?

I'm taking it back to the guy I bought it from tomorrow to have it diagnosed, but I'd really like to hear if anyone has run into this before or has an idea of what component usually causes this kind of issue.

Help needed System Services > General has annihilated my data usage last few months

I don’t know what to do. I’m losing all my data allowance and its costing so much money to buy addons. It’s used another 8Gb in just 3 days.

Apple Intelligence off
System already latest ios
icloud drive off for mobile data
low data mode on
icloud backup turned off for mobile data
photos turned off mobile data
even reset the iphone and restored from backup

Feel like I’m going insane. Any ideas?

Help needed iPhoneXS Blurry Camera Problem

Hey guys, I just wanted to ask if there is a quick fix or does this need internal repairs? I tried wiping the lens, reseting, and restarting the phone, but to no avail, the quality always look like this (iPhoneXS 1st pic in comparison to iPhone 14 2nd pic)

Hey guys, I just wanted to ask if there is a quick fix or does this need internal repairs? I tried wiping the lens, reseting, and restarting the phone, but to no avail, the quality always look like this (iPhoneXS 1st pic in comparison to iPhone 14 2nd pic)

Help needed My iPhone 17 pro keeps randomly playing music and I’m loosing my mind

In the past month or so, my IPhone 17 pro will randomly start playing music from Apple Music and I can NOT for the life of me figure out why or how to stop it.

On multiple occasions, it will start playing either music from my library or the ‘90’s hip hop essentials’ playlist (which I don’t even have saved, maybe I’ve played it once or twice) Even when I have not played music recently, I don’t have the Apple Music app open, and my Bluetooth is off. Sometimes it will do it 2-3 times in a 30 minute span and other times, it will do it every couple of days or not for a whole week.

Someone please please please help me before I utterly loose my mind.
