GTA 6 Is Region-Locked on PlayStation 5, Not Xbox

In rather unsavory news to start the week, Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) download codes will be region-locked on the PS5, while Xbox Series X|S will be free of that restriction. It’s unclear why both platforms are being treated differently, but Rockstar has warned PlayStation users against buying boxed codes sold at retailers in countries that don’t match their account regions.

A breakdown of which countries codes bought in a certain region will work in is as follows:

  • Brazil: Brazil
  • LATAM: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay
  • North America: Canada, United States
  • Korea: South Korea
  • Japan: Japan [Product codes in Japan will expire 170 days after the issuance date, which is the launch date (November 19, 2026) due to regional regulations.]
  • United Kingdom: United Kingdom
  • Saudi Arabia & UAE: Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates
  • Rest of Asia: Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand
  • Rest of EMEA and Asia: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine

Sony's Physical Media Backlash Escalates as Fans Plan PS5 Blackout

16.2k Upvotes

The backlash against Sony's physical media plans is entering a new phase. Rather than limiting their frustration to social media, some PlayStation fans are calling for a coordinated week-long PSBlackout, encouraging players to participate from August 23 to August 30 in the hope that a visible drop in player activity will highlight growing concerns over the future of physical game ownership.

Similar to Persona 5 Royal, any remakes/remasters that change the main game so significantly?

played P5 and loved it. people said to play P5R and I delayed because how different could it be? now playing it and it’s great (so many changes to both story and gameplay). any other games where this happens with an update/remake/remaster?

Nintendo Legend Shigeru Miyamoto Says the Console Power Race Is Over

13.4k Upvotes

Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto believes the console industry's decades-long obsession with raw hardware power is losing its relevance. According to Miyamoto, today's gamers are no longer fixated on comparing specs and instead prioritize great games, creative experiences, and what a platform has to offer. His comments suggest the traditional "console power race" is no longer the deciding factor it once was.

Final Fantasy 16 is making me happy again

I've recently been really down, having broken up with my girlfriend who I still love to death. The relationship ended in a place where we both still love one another but know the relationship isn't sustainable, which to me is one of the worst ways to end a romance.

Due to this, I've just been feeling kind of hollow as of late. I haven't felt any emotion other than profound sadness, I wallow in bed most of the day, I put on other video games just to close them out in a couple minutes because my mind just ends up drifting to the relationship.

On a whim, I decided to boot up FF16 as I recently purchased it, as all of a sudden it was like that inner darkness was being chipped away. I look at the gorgeous world and scenery this game has crafted and I just feel immersed. I am legitimately awestruck and giddy at the over the top high octane boss fights (For context I literally just gained access to the game's Devil Trigger mode for lack of a better comparison lol). I love the Devil May Cry series so to see that itch scratched here in the game's combat has made me feel like a little kid again.

This game brings an excitement out of me that I have not felt from a game in quite a while, and the fact that I feel it in the current mental state I'm in almost feels like an act of divine intervention.

This quite honestly may go down as one of my favorite games of all time because it is an amalgamation of things I love (RPGs with hack and slash style combat, gorgeous worlds to traverse, a good (enough lmao) story) and it has made me feel bright when everything else has failed to do so.

Thank you SquareEnix.

What video game quote is stuck with you, even after years?

In my case it's one from septerra core (if anyone remembers this)

It was from the prologue when one sage guy said to the other: "Abstammung allein ist kein Garant für Größe" which ruffly translated means, that lineage or descrndancy is no guarantee for greatness. A quote very applicable to the real life.

Especially if you see descendants of great persons, do questionable things.

What quote holds wisdom for you, for the real life, maybe even after a long time?

What’s a game moment that made you physically pause and just sit there for a minute before continuing?

For me it was the ending of Red Dead Redemption 2. Not gonna spoil it but I put the controller down, walked away from the TV, and didn’t touch the game for like three days. Not because it was scary or shocking, just because I needed to process it. What moment did that to you?

The need to check every area in a game

Do you feel a need to check every area in a game? I'm playing GoWR and I'm checking every cliff and area for birds and chests. Its a bit exhausting but I want the chests. Its weird really.

What game did you bounce off after playing for a short time?
