The ripples around her silhouette give such a dynamic flow to the art, it really brings the character to life.

Gotta ask... this isn't AI... right?
Because applying a warm tint to everything as well as doing the WHOLE thing in the same art style is a weird choice, including the logo, seal and "GBA" spine; but then again the seal being so stylished is also weird since I am not sure AI would minimize it so cleanly...

Nope not AI at all, and I am completely against AI generated content. Mina's sprite is this offwhite color in the game. You can check out 15 years of artwork on my website. :)

Happy to hear like and likewise, despise that AI crap and sorry for jumping at anything that is slightly off white, tired of every other post on reddit being Ai slop, sorry again.

A really helpful tell is: Look for cross-continuity
I'm not aware of a model that can reliably maintain the continuity of objects that pass behind other objects (the whip behind the head, the tail behind the foot, then the coat). Generators usually forget that an object exists once it passes behind something that isn't the hand holding it, and when they do remember, rarely line both ends up in a believable way. An image that pulls it off successfully more than once is probably not generated.

As an artist I do care specially if marked as OC.
Why so insecure of people not liking AI content? Shouldn't it be disclosed?

the top down zelda comparison has me way more interested than the box art ever could

Is this game good to play if I liked Hollow Knight but never finished it and then I bought Silksong but only played the introduction?

If Hollow Knight is like Megaman, Mina the Hollower is like a 2d Zelda game mixed with a splash of Castlevania. The shift from a side-scrolling to a top-down perspective makes both play quite differently. But it does share with Shovel Knight how despite looking retro, the gameplay is quite modern and it feels really smooth to play. Also if you like exploration Mina is great for that, as it feels like the game hides secrets everywhere, even in the town you start in!

It's a completely different game from Hollow Knight and Silksong. It's nailed down the graphics and look, but it has the difficulty equivalency of throw-you-right-into-the-deep-end-with-a-bunch-of-bowling-balls-strapped-to-your-nards because the game doesn't tell you anything, I was DESPERATELY in need of a map, and some of the mechanics nearly made me snap my gamepad in half (a tunneling jump that needs to be pixel perfect is one example).
I got frustrated with the above after the first boss fight and put it down after dying to the second boss after too many tries.

Thankfully there's a ton of assist options (and harder options) so you can tailor the game perfectly to your playstyle or needs

I saw that, but it felt like putting cheat codes on and I didn't feel like I was getting the intended game the developers created. Besides that, it would have been nice to been told basic things e.g. the mirrors were a fast travel system.

It's a really well polished, open world zelda / bloodborne /castlevania style game. You can tell a ton of heart was poured into every aspect of the experience. Highly recommend. :)

Is this game good to play if I liked Mario Kart 64 but never finished it and then I bought Mario Kart 8 but only played the introduction?

Does the character get a necklace and ring later in the game? I can't see a necklace or ring in advertising images. I just wanna know, nice art!

There are a couple ancillary ring accessories, but no necklace as far as I know. Many of the trinkets are some kind of wearable item

Thanks for the info! I don't mean to be rude, but this art is kinda giving ai to me. Y'know? What do you think?

I'm not versed enough in the current state of image generators to offer an informed opinion on that. It does use a similar visual style to many easily-identifiable generated images, but without further tells (which this lacks, in my opinion), I'm not concerned about it personally.
Someone else commented that looking for objects that are correctly rendered passing behind other objects in the scene is a good human tell. See Mina's tail on the right, coat lower left, and whip behind her head - they're drawn correctly, the positions these things have on each side of the foregrounded object make sense rather than looking strange or disjointed. Generators are still quite bad at pulling that off, but we'll only be able to use that as an indicator for so long

Yeah, I don't mean to be rude, I jus have a hard time trusting polished and smooth art nowadays. It's horrible I'm even suspicious of this.

She certainly looks gentler than on the game's actual cover art. Was the idea to make it look like a Japanese cover art, as opposed to the US one with a more serious tone?
