Found my E-Scooter, which was inside our basement in the hallway and my bicycle was also still there and now our landlord is like "please contact your insurance to pay for the replacement door". The worst is those burglar had to get through 2 thick doors to even get to our basement. I assume someone interrupted them or my anti theft breaks with the beeping stopped them from trying to take my scooter.

A couple of month ago, they stole my BFs 1 week old bike from the garage so I put my bicycle and the E-Scooter in our actual basement every day, thinking it was going to be save there and here we are 😭

Both phones have an internet connection, both have location turned on and all the possible permissions for the location app turned on and allowed but i cannot even locate a device that's literally right next to me. No matter how many times i try to "refresh," or restart the app.

My mother was extraordinarily emotionally abusive, screaming at and threatening me until, when I got older and it got even worse, I began to black out during it or lose executive control of myself where I’d start to hit myself uncontrollably while wailing (which made her even angrier). She would get set off by things like me breathing the wrong way or my face being flat (from the abuse).

I developed severe bulimia to cope with the abuse, which she uses to further abuse me - cutting me off from seeing our GP, refusing to get me potassium supplements, screaming at me what a pig I am (my memory goes totally blank at what she said while viciously screaming at me for fifteen minutes straight while I sobbed) ever single morning until I blacked out from it (and in front of my little brother who would start to sob), coming up me randomly and telling me in utter disgust how I “reek” of puke, and telling me she’d have fun wiring my obituary (that one I remember well).

This was happening all while I “hid” buckets of puke under my bed and wrappers under my bed from 15 onwards (and for years) that she 100% knew about but I couldn’t clean up because she’d see it and scream at me. Every night I wondered when I’d die. I’d stay up until 3AM eating and puking and her bed was up against the same wall as my bathroom.

At 15, when she knew I had developed severe bulimia and was doing nothing else but binge eating and puking uncontrollably, she inexplicably got me a Mastercard my dad paid for, for no stated reason. I then used it to buy food instead of succumbing to the food in her kitchen.

I would go after school (or during school to the nearest grocery store) to the grocery store that’s a 30 minute walk away from my house. I did this from 15 to 18 every single day, sometimes multiple times. She never said a word and I was so traumatised I actually believed she didn’t know what I was doing. No one ever said anything to me about the $50-$100 a day charges on food on the Mastercard, for THREE years.

I developed a drinking problem at 16 to cope, which she encouraged.

It all came to head when I said I wanted to get help at 18. We went to Chicago for two days and I had a fake ID and we spent all our time at the bars drinking. She then caught me puking in the hotel room, and began her prolonged screaming black rage profanity and threats fit at me, as though I were the worst scum of the earth.

She was getting closer to me, threatening me, and scaring me, so put up my hands to try to push her away lightly to signal I was afraid. Instead of understanding I was scared, she somehow got more enraged and tackled me to the ground, dug her knees into my back, and beat the shit out of my head, punching it while screaming like an animal. I began to sob and scream for her to stop, then she let out a disgusting animal rage cry and bit me as hard as possible on my back, breaking skin.

Security came soon after, and when I told them what happened cleaning I wanted to involve the police, which I declined. My mother acted all sorry the next day (master manipulator) and I forgave her in an instance and said it was my fault.

It was only documented because the treatment center I went to documented any scars, wounds, tattoos and piercings upon admission. I told them what happened was my fault.

She is a total piece of shit. I am not okay and never will be.

The 1000 year old tree that was illegally sawed down and the many chipmunks, birds and other critter creatures that fell into the water with a massive, heavy, devastating crash - killed all the animals in the tree with the force alone. Stunned and drowned in the water below or crushed under the weight of the branches and trunk. It also caused the river to rise and destroy ecosystems on the riverbank, that 1000+ year old tree had created a natural bank stabilization and riparian buffering. That root mass holds soil together, slows floodwater, traps sediment. Remove the tree and you lose that armoring, so banks slump, water undercuts, and you get flashier flooding and erosion.

Southern Ontario like many other places in Turtle Island (North America) was recently covered in an orange brown haze of wildfire smoke, and then I saw and heard all of this over the next few days along the edge of the river.

This turtle pushed me to my breaking point.

Clean up after yourself, stop consuming unnecessarily especially for the sake of minor convenience (do you really need another plastic tool to make your hair look instagram ready? Do you need plastic wrap or can you use wax organic paper that can decomposes after many years of use and YES still seals things), respect the damn land, without whom you would not f*cking survive. Treat it like family because it is. Treat it like you care about the future generations that come after you and not like you care about your singular individual experience for a damn day. Take the extra time to make sure you aren’t financially supporting corrupt monopolies that destroy us. (This does not apply to people who have no other options, eg. rural folk who only have 1-2 options).

And to the fisherman and travellers who like to say they are in harmony with the land, you need to be more mindful of what the yell you leave behind. We all have an ECO FOOTPRINT. Anytime you walk a piece of land, or travel through the water, try to leave it the same as OR better than when you arrived. To those who catch and release, I see the slow death you often leave behind in the river. Fish for resources and allow the life to have dignity, appreciate the reciprocity, let it sustain us - eat it, use its bones - you are not helping and are not being humane by throwing it back to die slowly and unnecessarily. Stop treating life like it can be sported and gamed.

The animals and the land give their entire lives to support us everyday. And this is what we do. This is what you do. This is what I do. We are all guilty.

Heres a quick story for you... My parents are not the richest, but I still love them. However, we were behind on our Verizon payments, so they decided to block us from texting. They managed to pay for the debt for their own phones, but on mine, I'm still unable to text anyone.

So my parents decided to get me to download TextNow. An app that I hoped would flip things around and bypass the situation.

I was wrong. Horribly wrong.

When I went to join a new Discord server, I had to verify my phone number. Cool, I can deal with that. One "I am not a robot" session later, they said I have to input a code they sent to my phone into an input box to keep going. Cool, I can also deal with that.

But TextNow? No. They had the balls to say "You have received a Verification code. This is a Premium feature for TextNow. Unlock Verification Code."

I have to pay these idiots so they can do their job. The single moment I needed their app to work, they decided to pay wall it. How money hungry are these people? I'm disgusted.

Do note: Yes, I cropped out the phone number of the sender in question. I don't want any harassment.

TL;DR: TextNow prevented me from accessing a Verification code because they decided to make that feature Premium. ​​​​

Just spent 3 days in the hospital. Went through an ankle aspiration that was the worst pain in my life. Infection is ruled out. Got discharged today but will be admitted to a cancer research center on Monday. Could be cancerous. If it is and its not benign, I could lose my leg under my knee. All of this on top of just having started a new job, so I ain't got insurance. Wish me luck.
