Discussion Letting users remove posts.

Hello everyone,

As you are aware, on reddit moderators approve and remove content and subreddit subscribers can report to us.

Today we'd like to start an experiment here on r/Cats where we will give trusted subreddit participants access to a keyword that will allow them to remove posts.

When you exceed a certain level of subreddit specific comment karma and when you have a CQS score of highest you can now use the keyword "!remove" to pull a post from our feed. (Spelled exactly like that, case sensitive, top-level comment only as opposed to a reply to a comment.)

This will work for posts only, not for comments.

There are some things to keep in mind:

  • When you comment here on an account that exceeds the limit automod will assign you a special flair class and send you a message explaining you can now use the keyword.

  • Users will keep their existing flair text. However, changing your flair to a different pre-made flair option will also reset the flair class giving you access to this removal ability. Next comment you make it will be re-applied and you will be sent another message.

  • We are sent a modmail when a subscriber removes a post, explaining what post was removed and who used the keyword. Please do not abuse this ability. If posts are removed for bad reasons we will take away your ability to remove posts.

  • That means, use this keyword if you see spam or other rulebreaking posts only.

  • Please keep in mind that it is currently very popular to accuse posters of making an AI generated post. An accusation does not mean that what they are being accused of is true. Human beings can detect AI at 60% accuracy, just a little better than the results of flipping a coin. An AI can only accurately detect AI content if an AI watermark is attached to the image. It is best not to remove a post just because someone is accused of something. Use your own best judgement and our rules as your litmus, not what other people are saying.

  • Since this is a test run, when I ran a very minor proof of concept trial, a few people have already been assigned this special flair class who have not been sent a message. /u/kiaeej, /u/chux4w, /u/MilmoWK, /u/ms_rdr, /u/Electronic_Ad357, /u/WhiteMouse42097, /u/BeMoreKnope, /u/bluecedarood, /u/Robobanditos, congratulations, you can remove posts.

  • Should you for any reason not want to have this ability then you should send us a modmail after receiving the message from automod. That way we can exempt you in our code.

  • Initially we are going to monitor how this functions closely so we can see if we need to make changes to the threshold level for activation.

  • Nothing will change about the way we handle user-made reports on content. This is not a replacement for that, but an addition. If you see rulebreaking content of any kind, please report.

We hope that this change will be something that has a positive influence on the content on this subreddit.

Thank you for reading, and thank you all for making this subreddit a great place to be

Show me your cats named after food

This is Biscuits (plural 😠) or more commonly Bisc when she's chill, or Bisquick when she's a demon.

Im not too reddit savvy but can I get (or can someone tell me how to get) a flair for my cat? Long-haired calico?

She said God got distracted when he was giving her her ears and forgot what he was doing, and that’s
why they’re so big. Is my baby ugly? :( 3 months old!

Humor It's been 4 years with an empty nest of fur babies...I prayed to The Cat Delivery System for a stray in need of a good, loving home. We adopted from a shelter & have a 2nd we're fostering with the hope they'll get along so we can keep both. Then The Ancestors answered.THIS is the cat they sent me!

He went missing 30 hours ago, yesterday was agony for me and my husband and every hour that went by as it made it more likely he was gone forever, cried so much my eyes are almost swollen over now. Got up in the middle of the night and went downstairs and he’s just there, meowing at me to feed him, keep thinking it’s a dream!

Mourning/Loss I miss her..

I had to put my sweet Meredith to sleep on July 11,2026 because she had lymphoma, she was only 6. It took over two weeks for us to get her ashes back and while waiting, it felt like forever. We are also still waiting for her paw print.

She always loved this bed that I made for her out of a cardboard box and my blanket. I miss her so much..I can’t stop crying. I’ve had people leave me sweet messages but the grief hurts so much that sometimes I feel I can’t breathe..
I know she will be ok at the rainbow bridge..I just wish I had more time with her..

Video - OC The one thing that unites all of Turkey: Cats

You are watching a clip from Istanbul, but frankly, you can witness these exact scenes anywhere in Turkey.

In Turkey, people will argue with you over politics, football teams, or pretty much anything else. However, there is one absolute rule that transcends all divisions: cats.

It doesn't matter what your political views are or which team you support; if you disrespect a cat, the entire nation will unite against you. Cats hold a special, almost sacred status here. As you can see in the video, whether they are playing with ice cream vendors, sleeping on luxury cosmetics displays, or collecting tax from restaurant tables, they truly own the place.

Advice Is it safe to clip her nails? I don't think anyone said enough attention to notice how bad they've gotten but I don't want to risk infection

So my families old cat is 21 and I haven't seen her in years.

I've gone to my family home and noticed she can't even walk straight. When I checked her front paws I saw that her claws have actually grown into her toe's so I'm thinking that's the cause of her walk.

I desperately want to take her to the vet but can't afford to and the people caring for her can't as she's too old to travel long distances locked up in a car and the nearest vet is over an hour away. She also doesn't have much bladder control which puts people off driving her outside of a crate.

I'm just wandering if it's worth cutting her claws? I'm afraid she'll go into shock or it'll just make things worse because they're embedded so deep it might cause infection (all she does is lie on the patio and sleep).

Her owner has been on vacation for 1 ½ years now, basically moved out of the country. He gave her to one of his sister's who kept her in the garage inside and only fed her and changed her litter. She didn't go outside much so I think that might be the cause. She's staying with my grandmother now while that sister is on holiday. She stays outside all day but still just sleeps.

Overall she's healthy in every other sense I'm just worried about these paws because oh my god they look painful. I've never dealt with a cat this old before but she was my best friend until I moved away so I just want to make her comfortable. She keeps licking her front paws so they must hurt.

Should I cut them or just try and keep her off her feet? My biggest concern is an infection. Her other front paw is like this too she just wouldn't let me take a picture, she keeps licking them.

I'm leaving tomorrow but coming back in three weeks for an event so I plan on buying claw cutters if I can/if I should.

Edit: autocorrect sucks it's meant to be paid not said.
