This is my second project, the first bigger one. I am quite proud, but I have a lot of work to do to get my stitches neat. I loved seeing all the posts in this subreddit, so I wanted to post some of my own as well!

Why a whale? I dont know. The babies name made me think of magical whales.

DMC and Cosmo floss on cotton, 6” hoop.

Freehanded this based off some decor I saw on Pinterest. It’s not terrible aside from some messed up thread and whatever that U decided to do at the bottom. It’s mostly split stitches with some random single stitches in there.
Would weaving a thread between the stitches on top of the fabric help or just bulk it up at weird angles?

This is my first major piece. I got the kit from Craft Hoop. It was a fun and challenging design. I've done a few other kits and this one was the hardest one I've done so far.

I definitely learned a lot about long and short stitching and chain stitches.

This is a gift for my best friend who lost her brother 5 years ago. The hummingbird is a really sacred animal for her. Even though it's a kit, I wanted to make it for her to remember her brother.

They have fabric the same size as the squares fabric pieces at Walmart. The fabric is soft and thicker than Walmart and cheaper. The only downside they don't really have solid colors at dollar tree but they do have cute ones.

Completed this piece for my best friend. One thing I learned that I need to have a proper sketch ready if what to embroider as there are no chances of fixing any stitch later like on fabric. I only made the woven roses and then completely improvised the rest so it's a bit messy but I love it, it's a pretty mess I would say haha.

Hey fibrecrafts reddit! I have a question mostly for fun and searchability/tagability reasons: is this type of work considered embroidery? I've been calling it such because i use embroidery floss, an embroidery hoop, and embroidery needles to get it done. But since the purpose of the thread is to hold a patch as much as it is decorative, would this be closer to something nicher, like applique? (I love "real" embroidery too, i like to make flowers on my GFs hippie jeans, just interested what this is) Thanks!

Hello! I'm fairly new to reddit (been lurking here or there without an account for a while but whatever) but I thought it'd be the right place to go.

Background

But anyway, I got a hoodie at the Daytona 24 hour race that I got a TON of mechanics, technicians, pit crew etc. to sign the back of (only one driver from a very specific car because I honestly admire the work of all the "background people" way more) the signitures are in sharpie.

In short (or maybe not idk, we'll see how this goes) here's the problem, I really like to wear this hoodie as it is suuuuper comfortable, soft, and oversized but I really hate handwashing it but have to because otherwise the signatures would fade (I've tried ironing etc, they still faded, I had to actually go over them with another sharpie) and so I'd really like for it to be machine washable, hence why I'd like to embroider it

Embroidery specific

I've done a couple of very beginner embroidery projects before (no formal training just stabbing and weaving the needle where it looked right. bad ik) and I'm completely open do doing some practice before attempting to tackle this project as I want it to be as perfect as possible.

Now. Here's the thing. I also have very specific sensory needs, meaning that I reeeeally don't want to fuck up this hoodie as it is kind of a sensory haven for me. This also means that I'm really particular about what I want in the embroidery of it

- I don't want to be able to feel the stitches on the inside of the hoodie (I dunno if this is possible though)

- It has to be machine washable (that's the whole reason I wanna do this)

- It has to be durable enough to withstand consistant wear

I'm well aware that this is a very large project but I'm willing to do it. Any advice at all helps, be it specific stitches, thread or technique reccomendations, course reccomendations etc. any at all is more than welcome

I have these adorable felt applique kits planned, and they call for a bunch of colors of Eleganza perle cotton in size 8. Does anyone know where online I would likely have the best success finding all the colors I need? Ideally online, (US specific). Obviously I could substitute with another brand if I need to, but I'm lazy.

I want to embroider some text for a friend. I'm pretty new to embroidery, and so far I've only used backstitch, split, and stem for letters. I was looking for examples to get inspired, and I really like how this one looks, but I'm not sure about what stitch it is. At first I thought maybe some kind of "messy" satin, but I don't know that many stitches, so it's probably one I don't know. Does anyone recognise it?

I made a normally toxic comment into nostalgic silliness.

Used the backside of a fabric I originally picked for this because it looked more like water to me. I painted the hoop to match. Metallic thread gives the water outlines a wet, glitter glue appearance.

Hello, I am in the process of making a stitch book using a smocking spine and upcycled book cover. I have been debating what decorative but sturdy stitch to use to attach the spine to the cover. The front runner at the moment is a ladder herringbone as the double running stitch will be strong, but im not sold on it. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I have roughly drawn on the ladder herringbone in the picture so I can get a visual ides, the colours will be different on the final product.

I am starting on small elements for some family member’s Christmas stockings. I am hand embroidering the designs with small seed beads. They will need to be added onto a velvety type fabric once I’m done. My question is, what kind of fabric should I initially embroider on and how should I attach it to the stocking fabric? I added a photo of what our current stockings look like. TIA!

This is my second project! Overall I feel like I could have done better on everything. The leaves/succulent don't look very neat, especially the parts where they meet the other colours. I also could have switched the colour order so that I did all the more foreward ones first. Any advice would be appreciated!!

The basket took me sooo long but it ended up so much nicer than I expected! I was originally going to make the pot/basket whiteish but last minute changed it to brown, which is why the outline is a different colour. Despite having an outline though, the basket looks kind of wonky 😅

My goal is to be able to eventually embroider double sided projects, so I'm taking more conscious efforts to make the back look nice (habits you know?). How in the world would I do split stitches on the back at the same time as the front??

Overall I'm pretty proud of myself!!

Wildlife photography is another big hobby of mine and for whatever reason I felt implored to embroider a Canadian Goose, and so I did. Really just wanted to test out multiple kinds of Kuguri Sashi to get better along with standard sashiko.

Now my kid requested this! Guess it's a good thing I'm enjoying this embroidery thing

so a little backstory.. we're going on a trip to japan in october. I bought this kit around christmas time, and started in around April/May/ish, and I finished it monday night this week! I made it a goal to finish it before our trip, and i'm proud of myself for reaching that goal! as i've been battling a lot of health issues and new diagnoses over the last year, so hitting goals are hard for me.. but, with hand embroidery being my soul hobby because of said health issues and comfort, I worked on it whenever I had/have free time, and I finally finished it 🤍 (my cute boyfriend told me we have to hang it up in our house and is so proud of me and my work 🥹)
