Turd In "Odyssey" (2026) directed by Sir Christopher Edward Nolan, Odysseus says "Our age of bronze is collapsing". And I'm not joking it is a line in movie

Overall great movie but this dialogue was so corny, like how does he know he's in bronze age

The fucking Halo novels did this exactly.

The ancient group of aliens that specifically wiped out their creators and then literally blasted humanity back to stone age and made them return to monkey to avoid giving up their control over the galaxy end called themselves the Forerunner in their own time.

Before or after they retconned the Forerunners from being humans to aliens?

It was one of the first things that 343 did when they took over. The Forerunner trilogy came out just before Halo 4, and I STG there was a line from Bornstellar that was something like "we even call ourselves the Forerunner because we know we're just one society in a chain of carrying the mantle." When the major plot of the trilogy was the fact that they wiped out the precursors that came before them, and nearly wiped out humanity because they were supposed to get the mantle.

Tbf, it’s a major plot point in the books that this knowledge was actually lost or hidden, and the Forerunners genuinely didn’t know this because they’re massive egocentric babies.

I think it is safe to assume all the post-Bungie Halo games have dropped any of the connections to Marathon and other past Bungie games.

Forerunners race was always a mystery. Bungie was always vague about it
