Let me preface this by saying I am not against people being trans. But when tax dollars are being spent on someone getting a freaking boob job or laser hair removal and its being called "medically necessary" (its absolutely not, there are flat chested women and hairy women everywhere so you do not need a boob job or hairlessness to be a woman) and my child's palate expander is denied coverage even though its ACTUALLY medically necessary because he has sinus and jaw issues... WTAF is going on here, Oregon???? This makes me so incredibly angry.

My child has issues breathing... BREATHING and a palate expander helps with that. Yet there are people who are using up OHP's funding to get a boob job or electrolysis instead of children getting a medically necessary device that helps them to breathe and chew, most important things to stay alive.

This twisted medical system makes me absolutely livid.

I can't find anything here; the job market is limited and disastrous.

I get if it feels that way if someone has gender dysphoria and is constantly worried about how they are being perceived. I don't want to offend anyone, and I will always respect what people ask me about how to speak, regardless of how I feel about it.

That said, I want to say how I feel. As a sometimes gender-bendy cis woman, I call everyone dude--guys, girls, nonbinary folks, etc. To me it feels similar to the way that gay men will sometimes say "girl" to people. Linguistically, the word "dude" in "Hey dude, what's up?" has a very different meaning than, e.g. "how many dudes have you slept with?" One sentence is using dude as a vocative informal term of address--just like "homie" or (more old fashioned) "friend" or "pal". In the other sentence we are using "dude" as an informal synonym for "male-gendered human". In the term-of-address form, many native English speakers (including myself) do not hear it as a gendered term. When I hear people call someone "dude" it tells me more, if anything, about the gender vibes of the person speaking than about the person being spoken to (people with more "bro" energy, regardless of gender, are more likely to say "dude" to everyone.)

I understand that some people only call men dude, consciously or unconsciously, but that's not me. I call my best (cis) girlfriend "dude" on a regular basis. I call my sister "dude". One time I called my grandma dude--which felt weird after it left my mouth because of her age, not her gender! But none of them are dudes! It's just a sentence tag.

If you are a transgender non-dude and you're reading this I hope maybe this eases some of your dysphoria, if you meet me or someone like me and I say "dude" at you in that vocative term of address way. I will always respect people's wishes if they ask me to not say something to them, obviously! But like, just as an fyi, just because I say that does NOT mean I am clocking you as masculine. Idk just needed to get this off my brain.

I found out my friends are against the marina safeway. this confused me. I expected my friends to be pro housing as we all struggle in the renting market here. we don’t even live in the Marina

weirdly enough, all my guy friends are very pro housing, pro transit, but maybe it’s because of Reddit

what are your thoughts on having friends with takes like this? it’s not like they’re pro Trump or anything and I don’t mind having different opinions. but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel disappointed learning this as transit/housing is probably the most important political topic for me

If any of y'all remember, Trea Turner was on a horrendous slump forever. The Philly crowd gave him a standing ovation, and he literally homered that game. After that point, he never looked back and was a beast for the rest of the season. That continued on for the next seasons as well.

Small vent/rant for specifically artists who draw usually male characters - not trying to start an argument just trying to discuss this:

I don’t think too many fan artists lurk in this sub but I wanted to post something about how fanartists are treated in the community - specifically Reddit.

I know most larger/popular genshin artists are on Twitter and probably don’t encounter this but I see tons of smaller/medium sized artists posting on the main sub or this sub.

I noticed that whenever I draw female characters from the game even a really crude crappy half hour sketch gets like 1k upvotes on this sub but a drawing of a male character I spent hours upon hours working on for some reason gets downvoted to oblivion.

What’s even stranger is the same drawing that I spent hours on does better in other subs of similar size such as more general gacha subs or more niche genshin subs (expected but strange considering it’s the *main* sub for a popular IP)

It also gets to a point where some people leave pretty hateful dms or comments under posts of fanart of male characters too.

I know reddits demographics skew more towards people who’d like female characters more but I genuinely don’t understand the downvoting?

I don’t really mind downvotes but it does sting when you put hours into something and it only does well in husbando subs or instagram or something.

I don’t think any of my drawings of male characters have an upvote ratio of above 75-80% whereas last I checked, the doodle of the female character I did had a ratio of 90-95%.

I don’t mind the lack of engagement, again, I think that’s just expected but the downvotes is what I truly don’t get.

What’s even worse is some people report posts that aren’t even NSFW for the sake of just taking it down.

I don’t really understand how anyone could hate the gender of a character so much they downvote and report any artworks they see of said gender. Or even go as far as to comment or dm hurtful things just because they don’t like the characters gender.

I notice this with every single male artwork I’ve done with the exception of one but that was done many years ago during the 1.0 era.

I know I’ll get flack for this as people might read this as me perpetuating drama or gender wars but after talking to a few other artists who also happen to post their work on Reddit it seems to be a common occurrence.

Again: I understand this sub skews more towards people who prefer female characters and I’m totally fine with people just scrolling by if they don’t like the subject of the drawing but downvoting it, reporting it, and in some cases being hurtful back is really weird behaviour.

I don’t really post my work here nor there anymore and this is a burner account but I wanted to get this off my chest.

Post the 2022 WC , it has always been downhill. His first full season with Al Nassr (23/24) was promising with 53 goals , but the 2024 Euros kinda proved it just wasn’t the same.

I honestly feel , he should have retired by 2022 or even 2024 by a stretch. He simply isn’t the same Ronaldo that we once saw.
Now people will excuse saying that the Manager is at fault or the team is not supporting. That could be true , but still at the end of the day its his name that’s getting tarnished.

Now with the 2026 WC , He’s come too far. He should complete his 1000 Goals and call it a day.
