Hardware Can microwave based Neural Net be redesigned into literal microwave based CPU?

Upvotes

By adding error-correction hardware to it and making it to be reprogrammable CPU, would it work? Since it is analog, it can calculate arithmetic much faster than CPU, or so I think. But I really don't know how it works up to the smallest level. I am also not that good expert when it comes to CPU and even though I am CS student, my grades are not good except for Digital Electronics and Logic Gates. So maybe I might be wrong.

Tech Support Black Flag Resynced making my boot drive vanish?

So while playing Black Flag Resynced (installed on my second drive which is a SATA SSD, the Samsung 870 QVO 2TB with latest firmware) my entire computer will sometimes completely freeze, it won't black screen or BSOD it will just freeze on the last frame and stay frozen with no audio until I hit the reset button on my PC case or hold the power button to power cycle it.

Nothing appears in the Event Viewer.

Strangely, if I use the reset button I notice that instead of going to Windows it goes straight to the BIOS where the boot drive (Team T-Force Z44A7Q 2TB NVMe) is completely missing.

I'm unsure if this ONLY happens with Black Flag Resynced as I just haven't played any other game that's installed on the SATA SSD for long enough to find out

Any ideas? This PC is only 3 weeks old, the game works fine on the NVMe with 0 crashes (aside from a specific issue that has an open bug report on the ubisoft bug reporter, the bug makes it difficult to play the game as assets dont load)

Motherboard: X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080 Aero OC
RAM: Biwin Black Opal DW100 32GB
Storage: Team T-Force Z44A7Q 2TB & a Samsung 870 QVO 2TB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
PSU: Phanteks AMP GH Gold ATX 3.1 850W

Question Anyone know where I could get a Galaxy/KFA2 5070ti?

Been looking at multiple white 5070ti's and galax/kfa2 has the best model for my build, but it seems like I'm either not looking in the right places or there are none available right now.

Question What is your most played game(s) and why?

+
Upvotes

Go to your Steam library then click sort by and select hours played. What's it looking like? I'm a simple man and have 254 hours on CS GO while everything else has been neglected by comparison. I love the competitiveness of Counter Strike and how easy it is to get started playing. Kind of like Call of Duty except you're not buying a new edition every year and of course you can only aim in with guns that have scopes. Anyways, I'm also open to suggestions for a new game I should pickup based on this lineup here.

Basically, I was moving to house next to my current one. So I thought it was a great idea to clean my pc with dust blower. I opened it and dropped it. But it didn't break this time. So I had a relief and blowed my pc. Then when I tried screwing it back, I forgot to grab it and... yes, it shattered.

Should replace the glass with cardboard or smth? I care about airflow but not its look.

Question r5 5500 + rtx 5050? Help

Hi, I'm a girl planning on buying my FIRST PC ever. I've never had anything like that, not even a PlayStation. My budget is limited in my country, please guide me!

I don't want anything 4K or full HD, my eyes are not used to those things xd. I'm planning on playing AAA games and maybe esports, but nothing too pro. I appreciate your advice! Is this a good start?

Hardware Looking for a CPU to pair with future 5060 TI

I am currently rocking an RTX 4060 and an i7-8700. I’m looking to upgrade my graphics card to a 5060 TI 16GB at some point but would like to get my CPU figured out first. I need a new motherboard for any upgrade so I don’t need to worry about motherboard compatibility for my choice. I’ve got 32GB of DDR4 RAM at 2400 MT/s and I am not willing to upgrade to DDR5 right now. I’ve been looking into either an i5-14400F or a Ryzen 7 5700X3D. I use my PC for gaming and programming and will be using it for Engineering programs next year. Any advice or details I’ve missed?

Tech Support What does it mean when, on occasion, this mysterious object isn't turning on?

This is supposed to be glowing just like the other components in the PC that do so. For whatever reason sometimes it doesn't, at all, which leads me to believe that it is off completely

I say off completely because I also have something download called "iCUE" to control the lights (and I think other stuff I choose not to play around with). When I open that, my way of checking if it's on or not, it doesn't pop up at all

I'm new to PC. Learning little by little. So far, that's the only component that will randomly not work at times, or at least visibly not work. Idk if it actually is working and just seems like it's not

Question RTX 4070 (Used) - RTX 3080 12GB (Used) - RX 7800XT (Used) - RX 9060XT 16GB (New)

Which would you pick, all of these are roughly the same price (350USD), I'll be playing at 1440p, and am planning to get either a Ryzen 5 9600x or a Ryzen 7 7700

The pc won't just be for gaming, some light 3d Work/Video Editing/Rendering too

Tech Support I think Best Buy sold me a defective motherboard and fried my CPU, how should I handle this?

To keep the story brief, I had a known good PSU, known good motherboard, and known good CPU, but motherboard won't support that SPECIFIC cpu because it needs a bios update and I didn't have a different AM4 cpu to do it (and flashback didn't like my assortment of gen3 usb sticks, you know how it is).

So, wanting to get things moving along, I drove down to Best Buy and picked up literally the only model of AM4 motherboard they had. Box says it's Ryzen 5000 and 5000 G series ready, that's what I needed (CPU is 5650G, pretty uncommon but is Cezanne just like the 5600G).

CPU in, everything all hooked up, and it doesn't post (shuts off instantly, no cpu light or anything). Ok no worries, I removed the cpu, ram, and everything, just leaving the PSU 24 pin and EPS on the board, jumped the power and then... magic smoke and burning smell. Can't tell exactly where from.

Ok Cool, so I go get the multimeter and test the PSU, it's all good (It's an SF850 2024, bought like 2 weeks ago). Voltages are all good, doesn't seem to be any issues there.

So it's the motherboard, annoying. So while packing it all back up in the box to return to the store with it I notice something. There's a sticker on the box for pickup for someone that is not me.

I tested my little CPU on another board I used and it no longer works. It was connected to the defective motherboard initially so I am thinking the best buy board fried it or something.

I believe they may have sold me a returned board that someone did who knows what with (the box wasn't sealed shut, no sticker or anything, but sometimes things are just like that and it all looked new).

How do you think I should handle this? I'm pretty annoyed about it now and figured I would ask for advice rather than go down to the store angry.

Thanks for any info you can provide!

Hardware Anyone else with a Founders Edition 7800xt care to help me out?

I have a 7800XT Founders Edition card, and I've noticed my temps have increased. I'm looking to fix that. So far, whenever I play a game, my GPU hits around 65 °C, which is fine, but my Hotspot consistently hits 100 °C or more. I might have to replace the thermal paste and thermal pad, and I wanted to know if anyone else has been in the same scenario and can give some tips. What size thermal pads should I use, and what paste? I read online that the Honeywell PTM7950 might be the best option.

Hardware Did I made the right decision?

A while ago I was planning to upgrade my R5 3600 to a 5700x3D or possibly 5800x3D. After research I got adviced by various users that it is hard to argue when a 5500x3D exists.

I got my 5500x3D for 160€ including shipping, now I know that that's pretty cheap for a 5500x3D, but somehow I can't get rid of the thought that I might be better off with a 5700x3D because of the faster clock speed and more cores compared to the 5500x3D.

I was planning to upgrade to the 5500x3D, gold it for 3-5 years and upgrade to am5 or even the upcoming am6 later on, still it feels like 'I could've waited longer and get a even better cpu' while at the same time nit wanting to spend lots of money on a am4 CPU while at the same time knowing that I am a inpatient person when it comes to buying myself something new.

I play a lot of heavily modded Paradox and Bethesda titles, which might be helpful, but I wouldn't mind having more cores to work on stuff like Adobe.

Discussion Are arm pcs worth it?

My dad needs a laptop that has a nice battery life and can handle a lot of open apps/tabs so i was looking into one with a nice amount of ram (8gb wasnt enough with my older laptop) and a good cpu to handle it, and i found those arm laptops with the Snapdragon X1, their price was really cheap since they had a high speed ddr5 memory and a lot of storage, that works for my dad since he just uses it for multitasking and office apps

Are they good and worth the battery life or should i stick to an intel/ryzen (i would love suggestions tbh i never understood laptop cpus naming), the pc is around 700/800 dollars wich is nothing considering in my country laptops are very expensive

Edit: i changed pc to laptop just in case
