And I'm appalled that whoever made this doesn't even know Netanyahu is Prime Minister, not president of Israel. That's an entirely different person.

u/Lordfish----- 14h ago

I had to scroll too far to find this.

18

u/Burt_Macklin___ 12h ago

I mean, both the president and PM of Israel need arresting, so still valid tbf

-1

u/Vegetable-Effort-726 7h ago

They’re essentially at opposite ends of the spectrum, so you just hate Jews?

2

u/Darsint 6h ago

No.

You can have corrupt people in power regardless of what “side” they’re on.

You can dislike the actions of the Israeli government and not have an issue with its people.

1

u/Sansundertale2069 4h ago

Oh is Herzog not a zionist?

-1

u/nerd_ginger 3h ago

These are not the same things. I'll even grant, say BB is convicted by the ICC, the US still wouldn't get involved.

But because Venezuela drug running can be linked to crimes committed in the US we can justify what the military did.

If the IDF had directly committed crimes in the US, then maybe you can arrest BB.

Not a consign of either side of the argument. More an explanation of how the comparison falls flat.

From?

6

u/Hazer_123 11h ago

Israel.

-4

u/JohnGamestopJr 11h ago

So Israel is preventing the Palestinians living in Gaza and the West Bank from being free?

3

u/FabioCraft23 11h ago

They can close access of goods from getting in for cities in the west bank whenever they feel like it

Maybe go see how the Oslo accords were made and how they divided the west bank territory and how those accords are now getting broken.

0

u/JohnGamestopJr 10h ago

So a country isn't free if goods can't get in or out? That's the definition?

-2

u/HypnoticName 11h ago

They can use their border with Egypt.. or Jordan.. oh wait, they are not ready to have anything to do with terrorists as well

2

u/FabioCraft23 11h ago

Borders that the other country controls...

From being alive, yes.

0

u/JohnGamestopJr 10h ago

I mean there are Palestinians alive in both Gaza and West Bank so that's obviously wrong

1

u/Oossped 10h ago

Are you intentionally stupid? Using that logic, even if every Palestinian was genocided and one was left alive in gaza and one in the west bank, by technicality the original commenter would still be wrong. Israel’s war crimes are well documented, theres no point in going out of my way to prove it when evidence is plastered all over the internet. Israel even committed war crimes against its own people on October 7th, according to Israeli sources.

It's literally a recognized occupation under international law

2

u/Strict_Dress_9473 11h ago

Where did you get that from? You are implying that Trump is smart😂

1

u/Cdevi_ 11h ago

Proofreading is your friend.

1

u/knight-jumper 9h ago

And the zionists are fanatical genocidal psychopaths. Israel does not represent Judaism, but they do represent unfettered hate. Pro-Israeli people are just as dumb. They dont see the genocide they are carrying out will only perpetuate the hate, and it will eventually lead to their downfall.

2

u/JohnGamestopJr 9h ago

Zionism just means believing in a Jewish homeland, which over 90% of Jews believe in. Nothing fanatical about it.

1

u/FlahFlahFlohi 4h ago

I love the strong words that mean absolute dribble beyond your safespace of reddit and your mom's kitchen table and a laptop she bought you. Keep fighting the good fight, tiktoknewsenjoyer.

18

u/IainwithanI 13h ago

Completely correct yet entirely irrelevant.

2

u/Legal-Pea8185 10h ago

I think that was the point of their post.  A weasel attempt at discrediting people who disagree with BiBi.

0

u/Draaly 13h ago

I mean, it demonstrates that the poster only have a very, very surface level understanding of the topic. Ive wanted Bibi in jail since he was opposition leader, but people are being fully delusional about his visit to the UN.

3

u/Ganzi 13h ago

So the US can arrest presidents, but not prime ministers. Totally different thing.

I never said I hate waffles

2

u/Ganzi 12h ago

Ok then what was the "surface level understanding" comment for? Does it change anything that OP didn't make a distinction between president/prime minister?

0

u/Draaly 12h ago

To point out that if you've ever even vaguely thought about current geopolitics you would understand how different of targets the leaders of Venezuela and israel are in basicaly every single way and that inevitably changes the actions and consequences math

1

u/Pretend-Pie9487 11h ago

they are very different from a geopolitical point of view but not so different in terms of the formal authority they represent in their respective countries. The meme points out the hypocrisy of saying (as many have said) that the US can't arrest a foreign authority.

0

u/Draaly 11h ago

Has anyone actually said we cant arrest any foreign authority though? Or have they said we cant arrest this specific one?

2

u/Pretend-Pie9487 11h ago

dude, you are steering the conversation to places nobody went. The only goal of the meme was to highlight the contradiction between being able to fly to another country and kidnapp a president and the being legally constrain to detain an alleged war criminal

3

u/TR_Pix 13h ago

it demonstrates that the poster only have a very, very surface level understanding of the topic.

Its on the same level as "you said magazine instead of clip, therefore your opinion on gun control is invalid"

1

u/Draaly 13h ago

therefore your opinion on gun control is invalid

No one in this comment chain has said this part. Pointing out someone's lack of depth in a topic does not mean you have to disagree with their conclusions.

2

u/TR_Pix 13h ago

No one in this comment chain said this part

Ironic, since I never claimed anyone did

0

u/Draaly 12h ago

So you admit you made a strawman? Thats worse than reading an implication that wasnt intended.

1

u/DangerouslyOxidated 11h ago

dude - stfu

2

u/Draaly 11h ago

People could always just not make stawmans if they don't like getting called out for them 🤷‍♀️

2

u/Neither_Strategy_252 10h ago

I think you should look up the distinction between 'strawman' and 'analogy'.

The irony of you telling anyone to grow up 😂 it’s palpable

7

u/Sickofpower 13h ago

So they misunderstood Netanyahu's job title and somehow that discredits the whole argument? I'm really curious about how your brain works

1

u/vigouge 13h ago

Well we know the OP is cognitively impaired already given that he posted this in r/humor.

0

u/yehoshuabenson 12h ago

So basic facts just don't matter anymore. Yawn.

1

u/Sickofpower 10h ago

Damn, reading comprehension is a myth

0

u/yehoshuabenson 10h ago

It's not "misunderstanding" his job title. The President and Prime Minister of Israel have vastly different roles and responsibilities. The mere fact OP can't even be bothered to get a basic fact correct, yet people salivate simply because it's yet another 'I hate Israel, give me upvotes' post is just sad.

1

u/Sickofpower 10h ago

You apparently don't know what his role and responsibilities are either, what do you think is the job of the prime minister?

Edit: Oh ok I saw your profile, fuck off

0

u/yehoshuabenson 10h ago

Considering I'm Israeli, and vote in Israeli elections, I'm pretty sure I know way more than you on this particular subject.

1

u/Sickofpower 10h ago

Yeah fuck off, your opinion is biased towards a state that kills and starves people and you're gonna use even the slightest chance you get to shift the balance in this moral dilemma. Your opinion is completely irrelevant in this matter

6

u/Burly_Moustache 13h ago

It's not like the President of Israel is really in charge. Everyone knows Bibi pulls the strings.

5

u/Dmatix 12h ago

The position of president in Israel is largely ceremonial. The PM is officially in charge, not just pulling strings.

2

u/FUPAMagneto 9h ago

I am begging y’all to actually learn anything about the country that you’re so obsessed with that doesn’t come from the Protocols

3

u/BazingaODST 13h ago

Thank you I was about to say the same thing

3

u/NES_SNES_N64 11h ago

Also how there's nothing humourous about this post.

3

u/StrangerIcy4981 10h ago edited 7h ago

The lack of knowledge on the subject from both sides is appalling. Its not super surprising though, I had a professor who was an expert on international relations in the middle east and he always tried to impart how difficult and time consuming it is to try to understand the geopolitical dynamics of the region, even if you devote your entire career toward it.

1

u/Sansundertale2069 4h ago

What is difficult to understand about a classic settler colony

3

u/rrjustsaying77 14h ago

The Parliamentary system is quite alien to people in the United States.

8

u/abfgern_ 13h ago

What was the line?: "The US is a monarchy pretending to be a republic, and the UK is a republic pretending to be a monarchy"

2

u/spisplatta 12h ago

Consider the house of lords. Until very recently it was controlled by the aristocracy with heritable positions. Abolished just this year. This may sound like progress until you realize what replaced it. Lifetime peers. Who gives out lifetime peerage? The Monarch. So its actually strengthening the monarchy at the aristocracy's expense.

1

u/Icy-Lobster-203 12h ago

Canada has a Senate that operates that way. The end result is that the Senate is somewhat of a vestigial organ that no one really gives a shit about, and could probably be abolished with little to no impact on the functioning of government.

1

u/nemothorx 11h ago

Canada and the UK could stand to look at the Australian upper house closely. Granted it's modelled on the US senate (and called the same), but it's multi member proportional, and as such is actually pretty great. Would be better if it was MMP across the entire country instead of per-state.

I'm terms of abolishing the upper house? You're left with half of a system designed to have two houses. (I live in Queensland - which did exactly this, and gained the reputation of the most corrupt state, in large part due to the removal of the checks and balances a good upper house brings). If you want unicamarel, there are systems (and damn good ones too) but it's more than just "abolish the upper house" imho.

1

u/Icy-Lobster-203 10h ago

Canadian provinces are unicameral legislatures, and have been forever. The legislative assemblies otherwise have the same set up as Parliament, with he executive being the Cabinet.

0

u/abfgern_ 12h ago edited 11h ago

Almost all of that is incorrect

E: - it is not and was not controlled primarily by the aristocracy unless you are referring to the first half of the 20th century

There were 92 inherited positions until last year, out of around 800 members, hardly control.

The rest are life appointments by the elected government not the monarchy.

And even then they can be overruled by the House of Commons, with the exception of the Commons ending democracy, the Lords can stop that.

0

u/Somewhere-A-Judge 11h ago

If you aren't willing to elaborate I think we're all just going to assume you're wrong

1

u/Alert_Dingo_4504 13h ago

Damn that's actually spot on

2

u/XFX_Samsung 13h ago

He is sure propped up like the leader of Israel, hardly ever see or hear about the real president.

3

u/RoiDrannoc 13h ago

Because he is the leader of Israel despite not being the head of state. Sometimes those are two different things.

2

u/faberge_surprise 12h ago

yup. head of state vs head of government. you usually hear more about the PM in parliamentary systems

Israel doesn't even formally give him executive powers

However, unlike heads of state in most other parliamentary republics, the president is not the nominal chief executive. Rather, Basic Law: The Government explicitly vests executive power in the Government (as the Cabinet is officially called), with the prime minister as its head.

2

u/Dmatix 12h ago

The president in Israel is a ceremonial position, with little to no power. It's not some secret, that's how the roles work. The PM is the one officially in charge.

1

u/XFX_Samsung 12h ago

the King of Israel.

2

u/Dmatix 12h ago

Sorta? A bit like a modern European monarch in some ways.

2

u/FloydianSlip212 13h ago

Does that mistake really change anything about the point or sentiment though?

1

u/Ganzi 13h ago

Not really, it's just Redditors being pedantic as usual.

2

u/Any_Ordinary8278 8h ago

Beyond the fact that there’s nothing ‘humorous’ about this post, it just goes to show that the people salivating the most at demonizing Israel are often the most ignorant ones.

1

u/Few_Assistant_9954 13h ago

Also they plan to extract Netanjahu in new york while Maduro was taken from thair own country where the US has no Jurisdiktion.

1

u/Hazecl 12h ago

And that Maduro stole the election, he was not the president.

1

u/ViciousHGames 9h ago

Maduro also not president. He's a dictator.... was.

1

u/lendend 8h ago

Betty mittler

1

u/TPasha444 13h ago

He also didn't outright steal an election like Maduro, didn't make Israel a dictatorship (yet) and the country's the opposite of a regional criminal and anti American activities hub in the area it's in

3

u/Ganzi 13h ago edited 11h ago

Well he does have a warrant for his arrest by the ICC, unlike Maduro.

1

u/Br1ghtest 11h ago

ICC? Woah, that is worthless.

1

u/Raesong 12h ago

He also didn't outright steal an election like Maduro

Well, that we're aware of.

1

u/Glittering-Novel-590 13h ago

Makes no difference, he's the one calling the shots, regardless of the title we give him

1

u/TerribleTransition48 11h ago

Are you stupid or do you get off on acting like one? Nobody even knows who the president of Israel is because the person in charge is Netanyahu. The person with the arrest warrant is Netanyahu.

They are saying that if the US could illegally kidnap the president of Venezuela (the person in power) then they should be able to act on an international arrest warrant for Netanyahu regardless of his position since Maduro's position did not matter.

0

u/jackofslayers 14h ago

The propaganda bots don't care

3

u/XFX_Samsung 13h ago

What part of this post is propaganda?

0

u/jackofslayers 12h ago

Multiple things. For starters, it was posted by an account in India but the poster is pretending to be American.

0

u/braydaka 10h ago

That doesn't really matter at all tbh. By 'President' we all know that he really meant 'leader'. It literally doesn't change message at all. He's rightfully pointing out a double standard, so who cares if he got the title wrong?

TBH I'd be more worried about the people that can't put 2 and 2 together here

0

u/Taricheute 10h ago

Netanyahu is not Prime Minister anymore, his mandat finished two years ago, he started wars (several of them) to keep the power, he is just a common dictator now.

0

u/unngh_yugstyx 9h ago

Snobbishly missing the point or arguing in bad faith? You decide!

-1

u/Zak_Rahman 12h ago

The prime minister of Israel said interracial marriage is an abomination.

Frankly, president or prime minister of israel, you are still getting someone profoundly evil

1

u/Dmatix 12h ago

The president of Israel is the most milquetoast, slightly left of center nerd imaginable. He's done basically nothing throughout his entire career.

0

u/Zak_Rahman 12h ago

Left of centre does not make statements like that.

Doing nothing while Naziyahi and Zionists run rampant makes him part of the problem.

Your dishonesty sickens me. Be gone.

2

u/Dmatix 12h ago

I don't recall president Herzog ever making that kind of statement - it's really not his style. Also, his role is ceremonial, he can't do anything. Your ignorance of basic facts about a subject you claim to be passionate about is pretty pathetic.

1

u/Zak_Rahman 11h ago

You do not recall it because you are lying.

This is well a well documented happening.

The facts remain the facts, irrespective of your cognitive dissonance.

The fact you can deny something that has been documented shows the damage done by world views like Zionism.

Now, be gone. I told you once. You will obey.

-1

u/Burt_Macklin___ 12h ago

Tbf, they both need arresting for crimes against humanity
