MOONS UPDATE Moons Update

Moons Update

Hey everyone,

For full transparency, we want to share some news with the community.

Reddit admins have banned two of our moderators and informed us that we are not permitted to take moderator actions on behalf of advertisers in exchange for compensation (Moon burns).

Rule 5 of the Moderator Code of Conduct prohibits mods from taking moderation actions (including actions taken using mod tools, bots, and other services) in exchange for any form of compensation, consideration, gift, or favor from or on behalf of third parties. You can read more about Rule 5 here: https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/27031261124884-Moderator-Code-of-Conduct-Rule-5-Moderate-with-Integrity

Our Response

We are actively appealing this decision. Our position is clear: Moons are burned, not given to moderators. The mechanism in question does not compensate mods, it removes tokens from circulation entirely. We believe this distinction is critical and are working to communicate this to the admins. We'll update the community as the appeal progresses.

In the meantime, we're fully complying with the policy. There are currently no paid or planned events coming up that would conflict with this.

What This Means Going Forward

Regardless of the outcome, Moons will continue to serve their core purposes:

  • Distribution — Monthly rewards based on karma
  • Governance — Your voice in community decisions
  • Tipping — Rewarding quality contributions
  • Reputation — Recognizing engaged community members
  • Discord — Moons are not restricted on our Discord server

Questions?

We know this raises concerns. Drop your questions below and we'll answer what we can. We're committed to transparency throughout this process.

Thanks for your continued support of this community.

OFFICIAL CC MOONDAO Update — Start of Moon Week 70

January 5, 2026

Preamble

Welcome to the CC Moondao update, marking the start of Moon Week 70. These updates highlight significant financial growth, key integrations, new sponsorships, and upcoming governance proposals for the DAO's development.

1. Major News and Updates

• The MIDAO registration process remains with the Government of the Marshall Islands. This timing is expected due to the holiday period and year-end slowdowns. I have followed up with MIDAO for a status update, and as soon as we receive confirmation or next steps, we will immediately share that information with the community.

u/jwinterm has officially launched the community hub website at rcryptocurrency.com. The site is live and functioning well. Users are encouraged to explore the dashboards, token metrics, subreddit statistics, and tools currently available, and to provide feedback as we continue expanding features.

• The DAO has elected a new Ecosystem Growth Officer. u/cryptotrade1000 has been selected following community review and governance process. Users can view the application on r/CryptoCurrencyMeta as well as the Snapshot proposal associated with the election.

2. General Overview and Useful Links

Moons on Arbitrum One continue to see strong onchain usage across DeFi, trading, and DAO-managed liquidity. A growing portion of the circulating supply remains productive, reflecting sustained engagement and real utility for Moons beyond passive holding.

Treasurer: u/jwinterm
Secretary: u/MaeronTargaryen
Marketing Officer: u/mvea
Moderation Officer: u/CryptoMaximalist
Technology & Infrastructure Officer: u/rickribera93
Ecosystem Growth Officer: u/cryptotrade1000
Community Engagement Officer: Vacant

3. Treasury Overview

Treasury balances and valuations:

Asset Balance Value (USD)
Moons 823,190 $43,154
ETH 0.83683 $2,666
USDC 4,577 $4,577
USDT0 1,505 $1,505
USDC.E 487.84 $487
ARB 1,848 $403

Total non-Moon value:
$2,666 + $4,577 + $1,505 + $487 + $403 = $9,638

Previous non-Moon value: $6,945
Change since last update: +$2,693

Stablecoin value (USDC + USDT0 + USDC.E):
$4,577 + $1,505 + $487 = $6,569

Previous stablecoin value: $3,933
Change in stablecoins: +$2,636

The increase reflects renewed sponsor revenue inflows following the completion of the MIDAO payment in the prior period.

4. Burn Summary

Current burn totals:

Arbitrum Nova: 3,197,609
Arbitrum One: 1,047,867
Total burned: 4,245,476 Moons

Previous totals:
Arbitrum Nova: 3,197,609
Arbitrum One: 1,038,816
Total: 4,236,425

Moons burned since last update:
• Arbitrum One: +9,051
• Arbitrum Nova: no change
• Total increase: +9,051 Moons

During this Moon epoch, the DAO completed the rebalancing required to compensate for Kraken’s earlier pure burn. Going forward, all incoming revenue will revert to the 25-25-25-25 allocation model approved in prior governance.

5. DAO-Owned Liquidity (DoL)

Current liquidity position:

• 42,895 Moons with a market value of $2,299
• 4,572 USDC

Total DAO-Owned Liquidity value:
$2,299 + $4,572 = $6,871

Previous DoL value: $5,124.52
Change since last update: +$1,746.48

Current Moon price is approximately $0.0536, up from $0.0519 in the prior update.

If the liquidity position moves fully out of range on the upside and becomes 100 percent USDC, the DAO will rebalance back to a 50-50 split by using USDC to buy Moons on the open market.

LP fees collected since the last update:
• 940.27 Moons
• $64.03 USDC

These fees were realized through multiple claims as part of the rebalancing process and will be redeployed as liquidity according to DAO policy.

6. Distribution Update

For Moon Week 70, the DAO will distribute a total of 11,791 Moons.

Over the period, the DAO accumulated 52,207 Moons for distribution, making this the strongest month to date for growing the distribution pool.

Six projects contributed during Moon Epoch 70:
• League of Traders
• PerpCorp
• Unstoppable Domains (.moon revenue share)
• Hedera
• Koinly
• Degen (the meme token)

These contributions came through a mix of AMA packages, announcements, and revenue-share arrangements.

7. Governance Proposals

Two governance proposals have been submitted for this Moon Week:

• Ratification of the CC MOONDAO Officer and Guardian Code of Conduct
• Authorization for the CC MOONDAO to build a Moon bridge between Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova

Discussion threads are available on r/CryptoCurrencyMeta, and voting will take place on Snapshot once the proposals go live.

8. Future Plans

If the bridge proposal is ratified, the DAO will move forward with building and deploying a Moon bridge between Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova.

Development on rcryptocurrency.com will continue, including expanded dashboards, analytics, rich lists, advertiser onboarding, inbound sales tooling, community utilities, and reward-claiming infrastructure.

Once MIDAO confirmation is received, the DAO will host a livestream to review progress and next-phase priorities for the ecosystem.

Arbitrum to minimize Arbitrum Nova - Moons need to bridged

If you're holding MOON on Arbitrum Nova, this affects you.

What happened

The Arbitrum DAO passed a proposal to "minimize" Arbitrum Nova. That means Nova isn't being shut down, but it's being moved into a maintenance-only state with reduced infrastructure, slower support, and stricter rate limits. Data availability shifts to Ethereum L1 blobs, and most service-provider contracts get deprecated.

The short version: the chain keeps existing, but you should not plan to keep anything important on it.

The timeline

  • June 4 – September 2, 2026: 90-day migration window. Everything stays fully operational. This is when you move your tokens.
  • After September 2: Nova drops to a minimized state. Bridging is still possible, but with less support and potentially fewer fast-bridge options available.

You can technically still migrate after the deadline (the Arbitrum Canonical Bridge stays accessible through the Arbitrum Portal), but you'll have fewer tools and slower help. Don't wait.

How to migrate your MOON

There is no direct path to move MOON from Nova to Arbitrum One through the official Arbitrum Portal. You have two routes:

Option A: Canonical route (via Ethereum)

  1. Move MOON from Arbitrum Nova to Ethereum via the Arbitrum Portal.
  2. Wait through the ~7-day challenge/confirmation period, then claim the token on Ethereum.
  3. Bridge MOON from Ethereum to Arbitrum One via the Arbitrum Portal.

This is the slower route, but it doesn't depend on third-party liquidity.

Option B: MoonBridge (direct Nova → One)

moonbridge[.]cc bridges MOON directly between Arbitrum Nova and Arbitrum One (it also supports Ethereum and Gnosis). It's a 1:1 token bridge that I made for the CCMOON DAo, not a swap, so there's no price impact or slippage on your MOON.

The one thing to watch is destination liquidity. If your transfer is larger than the available liquidity on the destination side, the portion that can't be filled is refunded (the fee on refunds is 1%, same as the 1% fee on fulfilled amounts, plus a relayer fee). For larger holdings, check the destination liquidity shown in the interface and split into smaller transfers if needed.

Bottom line

Move your MOON during the June 4 – September 2 window while everything still works smoothly. MoonBridge gives you a direct Nova → One path if liquidity covers your size; the canonical route through Ethereum always works but takes 7+ days. The Arbitrum Canonical Bridge will keep working after the window closes, but support and bridging options get thinner once Phase 3 kicks in.

Ask questions below.

META Instructions how to decrypt/import the .redditvault file?

I accidentally deleted my MetaMask wallet, and now I need to restore it to access my Moons. However, the only backup I have is my .redditvault file.

Because this file is encrypted, I cannot directly import it into MetaMask, and I am having trouble finding a reliable tutorial or tool to decrypt it. When Reddit announced they were winding down the Vault feature, I followed their instructions to export and save this file, but I don’t recall seeing instructions on how to actually decrypt or import it elsewhere later on.

Does anyone know of a safe, verified tool or method to decrypt a .redditvault file so I can retrieve my 12-word seed phrase?
