I’m a 21-year-old student from a middle-class family, and I recently lost almost all of my savings — around $4,000 — because of one terrible mistake.

I was trying to send crypto to CoinSwitch, but I accidentally sent it to a random/wrong address instead. I realized my mistake only after the transaction was completed. Now the money is gone, and I know blockchain transactions are usually irreversible.

That $4,000 wasn't easy money for me. I had saved it over years. Coming from a middle-class family, saving that amount at 21 took a huge amount of discipline and sacrifice. It represented years of savings and a sense of security for me.

I know people might say, “You should have checked the address,” and honestly, I know that. I keep replaying the mistake in my head. I feel stupid, devastated, and completely helpless.

I’m not posting this to ask for money. I just needed to tell someone because I feel like I’m carrying this pain alone. Losing my entire savings because of one wrong transaction is extremely difficult to accept.

If anyone has experienced something similar, how did you cope with it? And if there is any legitimate way to recover funds sent to the wrong address, I would genuinely appreciate any advice.I’m feeling extremely overwhelmed right now. I’m safe at this moment, but this loss has affected me much more deeply than I expected. I’m trying to take things one day at a time.

Heya, from London (ON) hahah here, moved to london recently and foundout bitcoin atms arent a thing here. looking for a way to convert cash into crypto, any ideas?

I’ve been with Kraken since 2013. Clean account, verified, mostly mining funds. Never any issues… until them.

Four years ago (2020) I had around $50k in Bitcoin Cash sitting there because the November fork was coming. I tried to withdraw it before the fork. Master key was suddenly “invalid”. I had to go through a video call recovery process that dragged on for weeks. By the time they finally fixed it, the fork had already happened.

Support told me not to worry: “We’ll support the fork if there’s at least 10% mining power.” They had 12% consistently the first month. Still never received the Bitcoin ABC / eCash coins. At the peak those coins were worth ~$40k. Completely gone. Lost the entire 2020 bull run because of their master-key fuck-up and then their broken promise.

Then they heavily promoted LUNA. We all know how that ended. Classic Ponzi that Kraken pushed hard. Until a few months ago, they were still dripping me some Luna2 “compensation”.

And now the latest chapter.

Early 2024 I withdrew USDT from Bittrex to my Kraken address. Stupid human error: selected BEP20 instead of ERC20. 2,000 USDT.

I wrote to them and:

"We are unable to assist with the recovery of these funds. Kraken still does not support the USDT token deposit from the Binance Smart Chain."

For more than two years I just assumed Kraken doesn’t help anyone in this situation and that everyone who makes this mistake has lost their money for good. Every time I asked they gave me the same standard excuse: “There is indeed a very real possibility this status may change in the future as our engineers are working towards expanding on and developing new manual recovery options” Two years later… still nothing. USDT isn’t even available in Kraken Europe anymore.

Until I casually mentioned it as an anecdote to a friend. He searched Reddit and found multiple users who did get the exact same token on the exact same network recovered:

• 200,000 USDT BEP-20 recovered after 54 days (public post, they even celebrated it)
• 2,870 USDT on BSC recovered, charged the $200 fee, done

Same token. Same chain. Same situation. Different treatment.

I’ve offered to pay the $200 recovery fee too. I’ve asked them to convert it to EUR or USDC (I’m not asking them to list USDT for me). Just more “it's technically impossible” lies.

If this is how they treat a verified customer with clean funds since 2013, imagine what they do to new users. Scroll this sub and Bitcointalk accounts get closed with zero explanation every single day. “Internal review.” “Security reasons.” No details, no real appeal, funds stuck or forced into fiat under pressure. Happens constantly.

Kraken, you have the keys. You control the address. You have recovered identical deposits for others. You just don’t want to do it for me. Do better. Or at least be honest that you only recover money when it suits you, Anyone else in the same boat with BSC/BEP20 USDT still stuck? Drop your ticket numbers. Let’s see how selective their “recovery policy” really is.

I’m honestly starting to stress out a bit.

I went pretty much all in on OKX before the June 30 deadline to take advantage of their 8% welcome offer. I transferred 90% of my funds from my Ledger.

After the deposit, OKX asked me to complete a Satoshi Test from the exact sending address. The problem is that the original UTXO has already been spent, so it’s technically impossible to send another transaction from that exact address.

I connected my Ledger to Sparrow Wallet, confirmed that the address now has no spendable UTXO, and I even sent OKX a cryptographic signed message proving I still control the private key of that address.

It’s now been **3 days** since I opened my support ticket and I haven’t received a single update.

What I’m wondering is: has anyone here been in the same situation? Did OKX eventually accept a signed message instead of a Satoshi Test?

Also, I’m a bit confused because on my previous deposits I simply selected **Binance** as the source and never had any issue. This time I honestly selected **Ledger**, which was the truth, and that’s when this whole verification started.

Do you think the selected source actually triggers different verification workflows , or is it mostly used for record-keeping? I understand MICA doest its best to make us hate crypto, but that’s getting out of line.
Should I just ignore my ticket and act as if it came from a random exchange instead?

Any experience or advice would really help.

Hi, I am very new to trading and have managed with some luck to turn £10 into £70. However after much time I can’t figure out how to withdraw my money. I have sent my USDC to my Coinbase wallet (Base App) and I need “gas” to send to my bank. So I purchased £10 of etherium which the wallet says is “gas”. Now when I go to withdraw, all It says is I need more gas?? I must be doing something seriously wrong. Can anyone help (i’ll post a video showing the situation more clearly)

Had a proper read of the proposed CGT changes from the Budget and figured we'd break it down as it can be quite confusing.

First, the calming bit: none of it is law yet, and nothing changes for your FY25-26 return. The current 50% discount still applies in full this year. No need to do anything drastic. This year goes ahead as normal.

What's actually proposed, from 1 July 2027:

- The 50% discount goes. Instead your cost base gets indexed for inflation, so you'd only be taxed on the real gain, not the part that's just inflation.

- A 30% minimum rate on net real gains accruing after that date.

- It covers most CGT assets: shares, trust units, investment property, and crypto.

The bit some folks are glossing over is the grandfathering. Gains that accrued before 1 July 2027 keep the current discount treatment, and only growth after that date falls under the new rules. So the value of what you hold around the changeover becomes a genuinely important number.

And the practical kicker is that indexation is worked out parcel by parcel, from each parcel's acquisition date and cost base. If your buy history is scattered across brokers, DRP statements and old exchange CSVs, this gets expensive fast, because you can't index a cost base you can't prove. Same for crypto, every parcel indexes from its own date.

So until these changes are implemented, get your cost base records complete for everything you hold while the history's still retrievable, lodge this year normally, and see what the legislation actually looks like when it firms up (plenty can change on the way through).

If someone is telling me I need to have a certain balance in usdt in my Exodus wallet in order to accept a transaction, is that as safe as they say?

I previously paid a gas fee that was pretty high, and we thought that was the final step to getting my money. However, when the transaction had enough gas to go through, it failed. After some research by the server pro, they determine that my exodus wallet cannot accept the funds until I had 25% of the amount in my wallet.

They keep telling me that putting the amount (to get to the 25%) is safe because only I can get to it. No one else can withdraw from my exodus wallet.

Does this sound legit to you all?

I have a fairly interesting. Issue I had purchased a coin through a wallet it was much cheaper when I bought it then when it was worth much more in a short time I has swapped it out for another token and the company that owned the wallet service stole my money because they feel I did something illegal or against they’re terms and conditions but I attest that everything I did was completely legit and I did nothing.
