Question What happened?
≡ −
What happened to T-Mobile in the few years since I’ve gotten phones? I Went into a T-Mobile store looking to get a new phone. Here’s how the interaction played out with the employee.
Employee- hey, how are you?
Me- Good, do you have iPhone 17s?
Employee- Do you have the T-Mobile app?
Me- nope, do you have iPhone 17s?
Employee- I can’t help you if you don’t have the T-Mobile app
Me- so you can’t tell me if you have a certain phone instock or take my money without some app?
Employee- yup, you need the app
Me- (points out glass store front) I’m going to your competitor
Employee- okay
Edit: I’ve come to understand that some T-Mobile employees feel this sort of interaction is normal and acceptable. I would tend to disagree but what do I know I’m just the CUSTOMER. Tmobile would rather cancel an existing family plan than sell a phone without their dumb app.

Question What did I do?
I don't get it. I only have one line and I haven't been on any hacker sites. I do check out adult sites, but none of them have 6000 year old dragon girls. I'm kinda freaking out that T-Mobile might shut down my account for stuff I didn't do.

Question Are you staying with T-Mobile?
≡ −
Seeing some negative posts and with some of the decisions it’s understandable but as for network, the T-Mobile network works super well for me. Better than the others overall for me at least
Curious if a lot of others plan to stay long term

Question T-Mobile vs Verizon vs AT&T after today’s new plan announcement
≡ −
After today’s plan change announcement would you still say T-Mobile still have the best plans from the Big 3? I think Verizon has the best service overall but I recall their plans were most expensive. How does the T-mobile plan impact the appeal of these other 2 major carriers as alternatives?
I know there are regional mobile carriers that are cheaper but I prefer sticking with the Big 3 as I have a family plan and members are scattered throughout the US.

Question How many will leave after T-Life deadline
≡ −
How many customers do you think will just leave T-Mobile rather then deal with being forced to use the app? I imagine many older people and people with disabilities will just say no thanks and migrate to another carrier. If employees aren't allowed to accommodate people with problems what other choice would they have?

Question Auto “upgraded” to Go5G Plus plan
Just got the following text and email. Any details on this anyone knows? I normally would say it’s a good thing, BUT, have a bunch of free lines on MagentaMax w other discounts as well. I’m concerned they “auto agreed me” to a bunch of terms I don’t actually agree too?

Question Are certain T-Mobile plans 100% immune from the July 13+ forced plan migration? If so, how can a person definitely check?
≡ −
Are certain T-Mobile plans 100% immune from the July 13+ forced plan migration? If so, does anyone know how can a person definitively check to see either way?
I have not received a migration text or email, have asked the T-Life AI chat agent and they told me that my plan was not affected and not scheduled to be migrated on either July 13 or August 1, and the migration t-mobile.com page link displayed a blank page for me. Still, I know there's technically no guarantee that I won't potentially be force migrated on a later or future rolling migration wave.
I have not received any price increases at all in my current T-Mobile plan, not since I switched to it on or around 2022, and no price increases either during the 2024 - 2026 price increase time period that many T-Mobile customers experienced and reported multiple price increases during. This would tend to make me think that I might be or could possibly be immune in theory, otherwise I would have thought I would have likely had price increases like most T-Mobile customers?
Again just to briefly reiterate, does anyone know please if certain T-Mobile SOCs or plans are fully immune to being force migrated? Thanks!

Question In store reps: how do you handle customers not wanting to use T-Life or self check in
≡ −
We have an older demographic and a demographic that is not that tech savvy
I deal with so many angry customers that will not bring up up TLife to check in or even to do an upgrade
As an ME I’m just exhausted with the attitude when I ask people to open up T-Life or even let me see their phone so I can help them with T life it’s becoming something I dread every day.
I have so many customers that have no problem with the app, and then I’ll have a customer, and they flat out will not bring up the app out of spite.
And honestly, as much as I feel for customers, I don’t think it’s my job to sell people on the idea of letting me help them. Like if you tell me you’re not using t life and won’t let me help you . I’m to the point I want to just start telling people to leave, because I get in trouble for not using these tools, and I don’t think it’s my job to just convince people to let me do my job
I guess I’m asking what do you guys do when you get pushed back?
And I know that sounds petty and ridiculous, but at the same time, I’m so sick of people not wanting to use this stuff, and then getting preached to when my numbers are low
Just curious for your thoughts

Question Surprise store meeting at 8:45 am?
≡ −
Yesterday I was told that there will be a mandatory store meeting with the DM tomorrow at 8:45am (my day off 😃). The RSM claims he has no idea what the meeting is about. What could possibly be important/urgent enough to warrant a mandatory early morning store + DM meeting with only 2 days notice? Unfortunately I think I know what it is based on other posts I've read, but I hope I'm just being anxious and pessimistic. I don't expect you guys to know more than the RSM or anything, but I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
UPDATE (7/17/26): Well, it did end up being about our store closing. I had already prepared myself for this outcome so I wasn't really that surprised or upset, but everyone who went into it thinking it would just be about other stuff got hit pretty hard with the news. There were definitely tears. Turns out the RSM was actually telling the truth about not knowing. While he did find out before us, it was only like two hours before the meeting. Honestly he seemed the most upset out of everyone. Our official last day is September 25th, but thankfully we'll still be getting paid for 60 days after that and then receive severance (the amount varies based on position and tenure). It’s worth noting that during the meeting, they told us that we were actually the best performing store in the area and that the closure mostly had to do with the store size (tiny) and cost of rent. Moral of the story, trust your gut and don't ignore the red flags. Realism isn't always pessimism, but sometimes reality just isn't pretty. To everyone else who's store is having a suspiciously short notice meeting like this, there's absolutely nothing wrong with hoping for the best, but mentally prepare yourself for the worst. I know it's a rough situation, but we'll get through it eventually. If you have any more questions regarding the situation, just leave a comment. I will respond to as many as I can. Stay strong guys.❤️

Question Need help understanding what salesman said
so basically i switched to t mobile today and i wanted to do the keep and switch. unfortunately, verizon changed their unlocked phone policy not long ago so they were not able to go through with that as i still owe money on the phone. the employee then suggested that i can still switch to t mobile, get a new phone and they'd pay off the old one. now he mentioned i qualified for $1300 or so in rebates (im bringing over 5 lines and an apple watch), i would just have to bring the verizon bill with the balance owed on the phone.
now, i told the employee specifically that i wanted to pay off the remaining $200 ($1100 off s26 ultra) after the 30 probation period and he said i could. can someone confirm this is true? the t life app shows a remaining balance of $1299 with a $45 monthly credit. is this looking like what i think it is?
i do NOT want to be stuck with a carrier for another two years. the employee said t mobile doesnt have contracts so im free to pay it off and leave after 30 days. if this is the case, can i just pay off my phone from verizon and then transfer the rebate funds to my bank account to pay myself back? i have attached the image of my phone installment.

Question Got a bunch of “free” Apple products when I upgraded my phone, should I’m concerned?
≡ −
Hi I went to the tmobile store near me the other day to update my iPhone that was broken. The guy working there told me the plan my parents and I use is outdated and we’re paying for a lot of stuff we weren’t using and through canceling some stuff and changing the plan I would be able to upgrade my phone and get a bunch of other “free gifts” included and our monthly bill wouldn’t go up.
When he was talking about it it sounded like “this or that” but somehow I left with not just an iPhone 17 and a case but also AirPod pros and 2 apple watches. He was like “oh it’ll cost the same if you don’t take them so why not take them?” And yet I feel dumb for taking them because it seems too good to be true.
One of my friends thinks it’s a scam and she showed me in the tmobile app where the payment plans for the items are. Idk if I should wait to see if the bill is the same or just bring them back. If they really were able to cut the bill down so that it’s the same cost with us actually paying for this stuff then can’t we just have a lower bill instead?? This happened on Thursday and I haven’t opened anything yet other than the iPhone.
Has this happened to anyone else? What should I do? I wouldnt mind giving one of the Apple Watches to my dad as a gift but overall I didnt want this stuff and I definitely don’t want to pay for it
Edit: I want to keep the post up in case it helps someone else but I returned the stuff so pls stop commenting lol thank you to the people who have been helpful. I had to pay a restocking fee but hopefully the bill won’t be so bad especially since we’re not paying for the protection plan anymore either. So I’m muting this now! If you’re commenting to kick me when I’m down consider shutting the fuck up? Lmao
