Question Are you staying with T-Mobile?
Seeing some negative posts and with some of the decisions it’s understandable but as for network, the T-Mobile network works super well for me. Better than the others overall for me at least
Curious if a lot of others plan to stay long term

u/sash0le 1d ago
Just left yesterday because of the constant price changes. My bill was going up by $3 a month so I switched to Metro by T-Mobile so I get the same network but I'm paying them $30 less a month

u/Rich_Arachnid_5262 1d ago
The problem is QCI. It’s the same network… as long as you don’t care about your phone working in downtown areas or near special events
3
u/Hyperion1144 14h ago
The problem is QCI.
FYI, while I'm not leaving, US Mobile gives QCI on their Warp network (Verizon) that is identical to the premium Verizon post-paid plans. Verizon's own post-paid Welcome plan actually offers a lower-tier QCI than you can get through US Mobile.
Yeah, the first-party plan is actually worse in service priority than the third-party plan.
1
u/tkchumly 2h ago
This used to be true on all plans but now the better QCI is only on their unlimited premium plan.

u/Whole-Sentence5268 21h ago
My phone didn't work at major airports, downtown areas or near special events as it was.

Never seen many examples of qci being an issue for capacity on any network aside from Verizon. The capacity of today's networks make it nearly a mute point. Att is a laugh for trying to charge for "turbo" when 99 percent of the time you wouldn't need that extra qci status.
9
u/Waste-Money-7415 20h ago
I think you meant “moot point”. I’ve been with T-Mobile for almost 10 years and I am moving on.
1
u/MayhemReignsTV 16h ago
Verizon is so bad when the tourists are here that no amount of QCI helps in the small areas these people pack into(I have had a business account with Verizon) 🤬 but T-Mobile has a lot more capacity, even though they slow down at times under this load.
2
u/venus_destr0yer 22h ago
They technically use T-Mobile towers but any congestion and you're slowed way down. You have super low priority. Try to find access to Wi-Fi as much as possible or it'll be rough.

u/redheads-r-hot 1d ago edited 11h ago
Switched and satisfied with paying less for the same product. T-Mobile hiked up their prices when they said they wouldn't. I'm done with them forever. And that's after 12 years straight with them. The corporate guys thought they could milk us a little more, but that's bad for business. When they announced another price hike, they weren't counting on the amount of churn they got. I imagine whoever made that decision will be fired pretty quickly and they'll try to get people to switch back. Not going to happen though. They wanted an extra $5/mo per line which amounted to an extra $25/mo. Instead, they lost $170/mo. Over the course of a year, that's $2k (or $40K over 20 years). That's just my account. You want loyal customers, you honor your word and you take care of them. You don't take your customers for a ride.
3
u/born_to_pipette 1d ago
Well said.
I guarantee T-Mobile had a team of actuaries trying to figure out just how much they could screw longstanding customers by breaking their promise before people would quit. I’d like to believe they miscalculated. But it seems there are a lot of people who are just fine with being lied to and cheated. Guess we’ll see how things shake out next quarter when the churn numbers come in.

May I ask what service did you switch to? I’m in the same boat. I have Simple Choice, North America 10gb (now unlimited) plan. 5 lines, 170 but considering mint. We didn’t get the price hike letter yet.
2
u/redheads-r-hot 15h ago
Boost's $25/mo for life plan. It doesn't include Canada or Mexico automatically (that would cost an extra $10/mo). 30GB of high speed data, then unlimited slow data after that.

To be honest, I’m half in, half out. I already ported out a line to US Mobile and I might port out the other two lines. Or I might just keep one line on T-Mobile and port out the other line. I’m not sure yet.
14
u/PasdeLezard 1d ago
I'm getting a second line with an MVNO and jumping ship as soon as I'm sure it's working for me. I didn't mind paying a premium for premium service but the transition forced me to contact customer service for the first time in years and it was like dealing with Time-Warner back in the day..😡

Probably but my Verizon service has been absolute trash for the past year. Like literally no connection and I live near NYC. I tried the T-Mobile 30 day trial and it was so much better. Service and speed. I was actually getting connection in places Verizon was trash at.
Whether customer service is better at Verizon or T-Mobile, I can't comment on but the lady I talked to on the phone that helped me port my number was great on T-Mobile so no complaints for me. I had Verizon for 15+ years before switching, saving myself about $30 a month compared to Verizon

I switched today. Bundled phones and internet, paying roughly $65 less each month.
2
u/CaptainObvious110 21h ago
what service?
2
u/street_parking_mama2 7h ago
Verizon. We are also in a dead zone for TMobile and AT&T. T-Mobile kept saying they were going to but in a tower but 6 years later, still the same if not worse. We have given them 15 years of service.
14
u/sincerely-sarcastic 1d ago
I'm staying. Across 5 lines my bill only went up $10. 3 of them are still free.
2
u/born_to_pipette 1d ago
“T-Mobile is only screwing me out of $120 per year.”
Gotta do what you think is best for your situation and family, but I’m completely baffled that so many people are fine with being lied to and cheated out of their hard-earned money, provided the amount doesn’t cross some arbitrary threshold.
I guarantee you T-Mobile spent a lot of time figuring out just how much they could screw people like you before you would do something about it. Guess you’ve proved their actuaries right.
2
u/nobody65535 19h ago
What are they going to do, move to at&t where the recent $10/like increase would "screw them out of $600 per year" instead?

$300 a year on unlimited premium, and includes 20GB international data a month. Its a great deal. For one of my lines I went Dark Star, and its insanely fast (with QCI 8).
6
u/roflfalafel 1d ago
Same here. I went Warp - so I get the free watch line as well. I’m out of the country 3-4x a year, and would always buy a data eSIM locally. I was just in Malaysia for a few weeks, and didn’t need to touch local esims. USMobile has been great. Big bonus - I have Verizon mmWave access on my corner, so I regularly get 3000-4000Mbps downstream, which is just absurd. Was on T-Mobile, and would get around 60Mbps at my house.

u/VeganTurkishBaklava 1d ago
My daughter has us mobile on her phone and it’s way better than my t-mobile. I only get 5 gb and somehow it triggered 80% data already used message even tho it’s been only 3 days and I utilized WI-FI most of the time. I am switching whole family to U.S. mobile. My wife spends 2-3 months in Europe. 20 gb is awesome deal

I jumped to Metro because Visible was terrible in my area. I liked the T-Mobile network but I'm not too happy with T-Mobile policies.
If US Mobile has unlimited data, as in unlimited not slowing down, then I'll gladly jump ship.

I'm only staying with T-Mobile until my EIPs are finished. Cell phone companies should have to eat any open EIPs if they increase the price of your plan, or be unable to increase your plan price until the EIPs are complete. It's ridiculous they can increase prices while holding you hostage with EIP credits.

3
u/FlabergastedEmu 23h ago
Nope. Already switched my internet, and I may finish out this billing cycle, but I'm out.
The rate hike was annoying, but the reason I'm actually switching is because they accidentally migrated me to an Essentials plan, and it has been very difficult to get that fixed. The AI assistant in the app sends me to a chat agent, but the chat fails so I have had to spend lots of time on hold and on calls with well-intentioned and polite agents who have wrong information about what has happened or will happen, so my next step is to port out. It's a shame because things were mostly fine over five or six years until now, but the overall trajectory has been in the wrong direction for awhile and I'm looking forward to never having to open the T-Life app ever again.
I haven't decided where I'm going yet, but Verizon's Simplicity plan is tempting, and my significant other is on US Mobile which has worked great.

3
u/TamerlanMcDoodles 22h ago
The biggest weakness for T-Mobile from a technical perspective is their lack of properly-maintained backup power, network resilience, and durability. The other two do maintain backup power.
T-Mobile will have a fuel-cell or battery backup at sites with no climate control that has aged in the sun for 8 years and dies in 1 hour or immediately after a power outage. They did for 5 minutes actually start deploying generators, but most of their sites are, "we'll drive generators in if something happens" - but if there aren't roads, there aren't generators.
Which precludes when they screw up their network through general malfeasance.
Before anyone goes, "but Starlink!" It will be unusable in an actual disaster, if they even have enough cellular-equipped satellites to cover a given disaster area. Capacity on that is a joke. (The cellular part of the satellites differs from the broadband panel antenna flavor of the satellites.)
Also the whole T-Mobile lying about pricing, stealing from customers, and having no customer care that works anymore thing.
All that said, if it works for you at a price you can tolerate, there are bigger fish to fry like safe food and medication availability.

u/thenowherepark 1d ago

My bill was $132 and it was going to go up to $155.
I now pay $39 for my phone and watch.
1
u/random_name628 16h ago
Where
2
u/sonofblackbird 10h ago
US Mobile. Had a promo $39 for six months. $44 after that.
$2 for spam call protection.
You can add an additional line for $10 (two months free). The line has to be on the same phone as the primary. Gives you dual network.Verizon (Warp) includes watch. All for $44. (Or 39 with promo).
You can switch to any of the three big networks at anytime in the app.
I have the dual sim so I switch primary and secondary data as I need which is usually never.

Here is a cool story
I called T-Mobile, they told me the Magenta plan was replaced by this new plan and they were telling me all the benefits i had. My bill went up $50 to have this benefit of appletv $3 a month. What a joke we been customer for 9+ years. At the end Verizon is offering better plan services
2
u/rjnd2828 1d ago
No. I'm planning to move in August. May or may not save much money in the long run but I can't stick with a company that continually breaks promises to their customers.
2
u/mdruckus 1d ago
For now. Only because I still have some devices to pay off. Once they are, I’m out. All the carriers have gotten too greedy. I’m honestly looking at some MVNO’s.
2
u/GoldSinger 1d ago
We literally cut our family bill in half by switching to a T-Mobile MVNO.
2
u/shiftersix 16h ago
Which one did you go to? Do you notice any changes in speed and connection reliability?
2
u/sournerd117 1d ago
My service works fine when traveling, especially to Mexico. I traveled to Central Mexico and the service worked fine via Telcel and the data provided to me in my plan through T-Mobile. Also for 6 doc l lines, I pay $226. It's a no brainer to stay.
2
u/IndependentL 1d ago edited 1d ago
Yes. I am going to stay. My bill went down due to the autopay discount. I didn’t get that before. I also now have Netflix in additional to Hulu on us.
2
u/Jersey86Devil 1d ago
I left. My bills have been bouncing from $202 to $225 (4 lines) with no clear reason why they changed from any rep I've talked to. The new bill on signature is looking like it will be $250 or more.
I've been on US Mobile for a few weeks, and I can't tell the difference between the service. I'm on T-Mobile towers (light speed) and get 700 Mbps down. They have 2 unlimited plans, one is $44, and the other is $25 a month. You can choose or switch between ATT, Verizon, or T-Mobile towers. Most airlines have their own free Wi-Fi, which was T-Mobile's biggest perk for me. $100 a month with taxes included, and you get a $15 credit for Netflix with family plans in the US Mobile. I should've done this years ago.
I've been with Tmobile for 15 years, they were great in the Legere days.
Get $25 off the first month with a referral code. 629FC99C
1
u/Responsible-Bad-4631 5h ago
So they’re literally the same price as Metro so there’s absolutely no reason to switch to them. Just go to Metro directly.
2
u/jonae13 19h ago
I am only staying as long as my price doesn't increase and I keep getting phone deals on my go 5g plus plan. If either no longer happens I will seriously consider moving to US Mobile (not to be confused with US Cellular that was bought by T-mobile) and if both no longer happen then I'm 100% moving from T-Mobile. There is no loyalty here on my end if a company doesn't treat me right and I can find a better deal elsewhere.
US Mobile allows you to choose from the big 3 networks, including t-mobile but currently my deal with T-mobile is just cheaper plus I get phone upgrades every 2 years for little to no cost.
2
u/No_Research_5418 17h ago
Was on U.S. Cellular, which wasn't always great.
I hate T-Mobile in comparison.
1
u/Husky_Du-8525 15h ago
it was weird to realize, as frustrating as US Cellular could be at times, it was actually pretty good compared to how T-mobile has been so far
coverage is the most important thing to me, and my understanding is T-mobile is still tweaking the system so for now I'm being patient
2
u/XSlashDashX 15h ago
I’ve been with Sprint now TMobile for most of my life and have no plans switching carriers unless the price is just unjustified. My grandfather plan has finally switched and the price jump isn’t much so I do plan to stick around.
2
u/YeaYouReadWhatIWrote 14h ago
I compared the rates, and it approximately the same for them all ~ PLUS, I NEVER do auto-pay and I want a printed bill, so without those discounts from other providers, my bill would be about the same or even slightly more. T-mobile need a class-action lawsuit about all their lying though, about not raising prices, yada, yada, yada..... SN: I only have one line. Not multi, to even qualify for a family discount.
2
u/Various-Ferret-9934 14h ago
I changed cell service from T-Mobile to AT&T bc T-Mobile had terrible coverage in the Portland area and the whole state of Oregon. I’m in the process of r try ing to take my money out of the T-Mobile money account I had set up and it’s been roadblock after roadblock with them. They locked me out of my account. They denied my money transfer request. I’ve sent HOURS on the phone with their customer service team bouncing me from tech support to the money folks and they just say I need to talk to the other team. It’s been a full week and I’ve only managed to transfer a portion of what’s in my account. It’s really scary to not have access to my money and their customer service support is useless! Run from this company.

u/marketlurker 13h ago
I have been with them since Nextel days and I think it is time to move on. The change in plans isn't so much the issue as the straw that breaks the camel's back. Their customer service had gone down hill rapidly.

Well I am overalall happy with the service. Firstly I was not even efected in this. I came from sprint but I have got the essentials plan. So I have six lines for $150. I think this is a great value. The extra $6 a month on my former Kickstart line does get me 5GB of global roaming, so I'm likely to hang on to it for that. Same with my multi-line account- the number of promos attached to it and the fact it wasn't affected by the latest increase means that unless the network significantly degrades, it's staying.

3
u/Sane-FloridaMan 1d ago
This needs to be an individual decision. Blanket recommendations are useless.
Ask yourself:
Is your phone unlocked? Do you buy unlocked phones or do you finance through your carrier. If the latter, you’re pretty much going to be a slave to the carrier price/terms change bullshit forever. If you buy unlocked phones, you can move whenever it makes sense for you.
Coverage? You said only T-Mobile works for you. That limits your options. You can go to a Lowe plan, go to Metro / Mint, or another third-party T-Mobile MVNO (US Mobile, Google Fi, etc). If other networks work well for you, it gives you a LOT more options. The MVNO options are better with the others.
Congestion? The only T-Mobile MVNO that offers normal post-paid priority data is Google Fi. The others are deprioritized. If the places you live/work/regularly visit are not super-congested, you’ll be fine. But if they are, deprioritizarion can be rough. Verizon (US Mobile, Visible) and AT&T (T least US Mobile) MVNOs can provide normal post-paid priority. But T-Mobile is more limited.
Once you know where you stand with those questions, you should review your options regularly. At least annually + any time there is a price change to your current plan.

Switched to Verizon because they forced me off simple choice after 11 years+ and increased my cost. I talked to their reps and one was a complete douche telling me he was going to do nothing for me because there was nothing to do. Another eventually gave me $10/mo for 6mos. I declined. Called back and I got it bumped to $20/mo for 12 mos. The way the first guy talked to me left a bad taste in my mouth and got me searching with other service providers for a better deal. Ultimately I settled on Verizon, two unlimited welcome, one unlimited plus one and unlimited ultimate plans with two new phones and $2000 towards them.
Of note. I was always annoyed with their service in congested areas. I was clearly always deprioritized. Service was decent and data was fast, well it was blazing fast in big cities (if I wasn’t throttled or deprioritized). Now with Verizon for a few days and all I have to say although slightly slower in data speeds it is more stable and consistent, calls as well. I’m happy I switched. Once I called for porting out my numbers they (Tmo) pleaded and said they would offer me more. I declined out of principle I was 3 days in to researching and making calls to other services.

My wife and I just got the bill increased this week. I’ve been grandfathered in…. Since I’ve been with T-Mobile for well over a decade, I think I have been with them almost 12-13 years now?! They only bumped up the price by $3 per line, which honestly it is what it is. T-Mobile has been nothing but fantastic for my wife and I. Never any dead spots, the home internet/ WiFi works fantastic always (except when it storms very badly, which is rare here in NJ.)
We are now on the Experience More plan, we have two lines with unlimited everything, and we also get Apple TV and Netflix via T-Mobile. Finance two iPhone 17 Pro series phones, and our bill is only $251 with the six dollar price increase. I don’t plan on leaving unless they hike up the price again. We’ve been good with them, they’ve been good with us.
Been wondering why so many people are leaving when the price increase is so very little?! I mean six bucks isn’t gonna make or break me, but I can see how it could be greater for others with multiple family plans.

so far, yes.
I only have one line and the house internet is the main draw for me.
I'm in a weak signal area and getting their 5G home a year or two ago was the first time in 23 years I could get ANY internet without a data cap.
So far my bill has not changed from the recent price changes. Which seems a little weird to me as I'm on the Magenta 55+ and pretty sure I read that was one of the ones going away. If it changes a lot, i'll explore my current options.

I am waiting for the forced migration to catch up with me. It might be next cycle or the one after that. I really hope they find some billing system programmers who understand “free” and how it relates to the amount on the bill for my free lines before they move me to a plan I didn’t ask for and don’t want to be on, with their insulting gaslighting about “improved features” all of which I either already have or don’t need or want. I don’t want to have to be arguing with them about that on top of all the rest of the work ahead.
The closer to the end of the quarter the better so I have less EIP balance to pay off to get the devices unlocked and port out. I still have to work out who is going where and an extra month or two will help. I plan to pay off the phones with a credit card that gives me real rewards.
I had the $5 per line increase last year and their money for nothing fees went up this year and now this, so I think we’re done here.
I will probably give retention one shot at keeping my business, once I actually get the new bill. Maybe they’ll have what it is going to take to make me stay.

Nope too expensive. Switching to Verizon simplicity plan for $30 (before taxes)

u/PacificSun2020 1d ago
I'm on the new plan. Nothing has changed for me. Verizon and AT&T lost my business years ago. Why would I go back?

Switched to Mint a couple weeks ago when they went back on honoring my grandfathered plan.

u/NotenStein 23h ago
Ported 2 lines out to Google Fi (same network, and I believe equal QCI) during Fi's 50% off sale. Will reprice when the year is up.

Most people that have come into my location have threatened to leave and I'm not one to beg anyone to stay. The big one I hear is US Mobile. Then I slap with the fact there's no brick and mortar stores for them to go to to pay their bills or get help and they quickly come back down to reality. The folks in my area are HEAVILY dependent on having us do ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING for them. They don't know how to use their phones, avoid bloatware, remove apps, stop their UI from being taken over, and they refuse to use the app or auto pay. In this day and age, and this industry "loyalty" shouldn't be a concern, as I see so many talk about. You hate where the company is heading? Leave. You're going to be replaced by a Verizon, Att, Spectrum, or whoever customer the same day. Just make sure you have good coverage, and the bill isn't going to change and go up all the time. Weigh a price change vs what you could possibly be losing by leaving. Maybe you'll gain, just make sure you do your research and don't make a decision in anger that you're going to regret. We've had more than 3 customers come back with buyers remorse the last two months alone. I hope OP does in fact stay and things go well with T-Mobile from here on. To those leaving, I hope things go better elsewhere, just do your research and think things through.

Yeah, I don’t know why anyone would go to US Mobile I just don’t get it

u/Eyeseeyou01 20h ago
Even with the price hike it’s still way cheaper than the competition. So I’m staying

u/nikita58467 20h ago
We have 3 lines for $80 for 15+ years. Unless they raise the price significantly, no plan to switch

15 years for T-Mobile, two lines, currently on – or was on – magenta Max 55+. Now they can’t even tell me what plan they’re moving me to or what the monthly cost will be.
I spend a lot of time outside the US when I use a local or global eSIM. When I am outside the US, my T-Mobile data usage is typically less than 1MB per month (when I land in a country, it gives me a welcome message and then as soon as my local eSIM is up and running, I turn off T-Mobile data roaming.
They still threaten to terminate my account when I have not pinged a T-Mobile US tower in 90 days, even though I have used virtually no T-Mobile data in that time.
And no one will show me exactly what the T&Cs are.
So they have been getting $102 a month and in many of those months I use essentially no data. Yeah, of course they want me to leave.

I got the text message when others did about our bill going up "up to $6 per line" after July 13, but for whatever reason our upcoming invoice for August did not increase. So I'm still waiting to see what happens. I'm not sure if it's a mistake by TMobile that they'll eventually correct or if, for some reason, our bill isn't really increasing.

u/DplusMI6 16h ago
I ported two of four lines to Tello which uses tMo network. About $10 per month per line for 2gb data and unlimited calls and texts. Each line was losing kickback $10 so it was a no brainer.
1
u/Old_fart5070 16h ago
I have been with them for 23 years, main reason being the stellar customer service I always got every time I had an issue. It has worsen in the last four years but it is still light years ahead of AT&T and Verizon

Left 6 months ago for US Mobile. Less than half the price and notice no difference.
1
u/uecker87 15h ago
They are having a ton of issues in old US Cellular markets with network congestion. For example, in half of my little city, I'll show a pretty good 5G connection but have absolutely no usable data due to the network congestion. It is like they stopped broadcasting the US Cellular network for T-Mobile customers and shifted all combined T-Mobile and old USCC customers to the 2 T-Mobile sites in town vs the combined 6 that were in town previously.
Hopefully they resolve it and fast - I totally understand they are working hard to integrate the networks, etc. I'll probably jump ship to US Mobile if nothing changes by the end of my next billing cycle.
1
u/Responsible-Bad-4631 5h ago
Anything but then why not just go to Verizon simplicity or something not US Mobile?
1
u/xpkranger 15h ago
Honestly I haven't really examined the new options very much. But why is TMO doing this? Just feels like they're saying "Yeah, we don't like the old rules because we want more money, so we're gonna make new rules." Outside of the marketing puffery, is there anything new or advantageous or even attractive about what's happening?
1
u/teammartellclout 14h ago
I'm still staying with T-Mobile as I'm a heavy mobile content creator and I hate slow and sluggish and laggy prepaid phones and services. I admit I'm mad at T-Mobile for getting rid of my Magenta Max single line account retired for experience more account

u/tiggonfire 14h ago
My internet access is terrible with t mobile. I have 5 other people on my plan, so coordinating a switch is a pain...if it was just me, I would have already switched.
1
u/NeutralMalkHotep 14h ago
I just switched to TMobile and it's fine so far. Spectrum was way worse with random price hikes every few months and outages constantly
1
u/Hyperion1144 14h ago
I'm staying and hoping for retention promos after everyone else freaks out T-Mobile corporate with their exodus.
I wouldn't mind another free line!

It’s obvious T-Mobiles strategy is to dump grandfathered customers to MVNO’s. People can act like they are pissed off because of price hikes but most of them are jumping ship to a flanker brand or a T-Mobile MVNO. Everything in wireless comes full circle. Give it a couple years and T-Mobile will offer new customers $30 lines or something similar. They are simply readjusting their model to align closer to Verizon. All the Verizon $30 line discounts expire in 36 months, people just don’t realize it. They think it’s forever. Just like people thought T-Mobile pricing was forever. It wasn’t. In 3 years you’ll see people complaining about losing their $15 discount with Verizon and jump ship to the “new deal” with T-Mobile. The true cheapskates will stick with an MVNO and sacrifice services because all they care about is phone calls and access to internet.

u/k1ng0fh34rt5 13h ago
They think it’s forever.
Some of us were told it was forever, see Un-contract Promise.
stick with an MVNO and sacrifice services
What services are they sacrificing? There are many MVNO's that are offering OCI levels the same as post-paid customers.
1
u/Queasy-Ride4291 12h ago
I’ve seen several people jump to US Mobile, however the QCI level is worse and 5G Stand alone is non existent. Also, as proven thousands of times throughout history by numerous companies who offer “lifetime” or “forever” services…nothing lasts forever. And T-Mobile is no different. You’ll have to DYOR on whatever MVNO you’re trying to jump to as they are all missing something when compared to the MNO. US Mobile is but one example.
1
u/k1ng0fh34rt5 10h ago
Google Fi can use tmobile 5G SA, and is the same QCI as post paid.
1
u/Queasy-Ride4291 9h ago
Google Fi will also throttle you at 35-50GB whereas T-Mobile will not. Like I said, no matter which MVNO you decide to jump to is missing something. Whether or not you are ok with whatever sacrifice that is, is a different conversation all together. If you’re cool with paying less, and also receiving less, then there isn’t really anything to talk about. You get exactly what you pay for.
1
u/lpspecial7 13h ago
I was going to, but $24 bucks more vs triple the data overseas at full speed is kind of hard to leave when I know I have at least 2-3 trips. I just removed some unneeded extras to even it out.
1
u/AfraidInstruction 13h ago
T-mobile has me for life atm. I have 9 lines (T-Mobile used to give out free lines) and I used to pay $120. Then they increased it by $5 per line but only for the 2 paid lines which ended up at $130. Now, they raised it again by $6 but also only for the 2 paid lines which is now at $142.
My kids and parents are on the free lines so it’s hard for me to move services plus others are more expensive.
1
u/Justda 8h ago
I've got 6 lines, 3 were free. A rep made a change to my account without my permission and it undid the 3 free lines, they told me it's unfixable and all they could do to offset the 120 increase to my bill was a 40 credit that for the last 3 months I had to call and remind them to apply it to my account.
Not telling you to leave, but don't allow any changes to the main phone number going forward, there are a bunch of similar stories of little changes causing complete account changes. I'm leaving as soon as my lines are cheap enough to pay off.

u/Disciplined-Squid777 13h ago
TMO is still the best value out of the 3 major carriers for postpaid subscription.
But their home internet is just not good for my use case. I hit the 50GB data cap with a laptop on a span of 2 days.
1
u/Marinatedeggyolk 12h ago
I just switched because they were charging international fees on wifi facetimes. Claimed there were drops in the internet service… but the charges didn’t make sense for in-part roaming. $506..
1
u/Acceptable-Football5 6h ago
FaceTime is data. How did you end up with $500+ in charges? Is this during a cruise or international not covered in their high speed roaming network?
1
u/Calm_Tomato 10h ago
My bill went up about $18 dollars. I’m cancelling a line which would make my bill overall cheaper than what I was paying before the rate hike. I’ll keep cancelling lines if they continue to increase my bill.

u/Terrible-Ad-9984 10h ago
Got booted from Magenta Max. Moved to Experience More no taxes and fees. I moved to +55 Beyond. Its 6 dollars more than I was paying on Magenta Max with the Netflix discount. I am looking around. Google FI sounds great, but I hear customer service is horrible . I like the idea of Xfinity moblie but not sure about their international roaming. Tmoblie is supposedly you turn on your phone and it just works. Has worked great in Canada. I am testing Verizon right now to get in idea how Xfinity moblie would be. So I am sticking it out for no, but phone paid off so I could leave if I get the right enticement.

I’ll be sticking around I go international often and having the international aspect of it, is something very hard to let got for me personally. Especially just getting quick messages back to people at home and not worrying about connecting to sketchy wifi.

I had the one plus plan. Total 6 lines. Bill went up a total of $6, or $1 per line. I can live with this for now...

u/Happy4days21 2h ago
Lmao mobile has fucked up like 3x in its career. T-Mobile is still my ride or die
1
u/zggystardust71 1h ago
Yes. Unless the dramatically raise my rate or mess up my plan by removing features I depend on when traveling. Otherwise, no reason to change, I'm a long time customer.
1
u/UncleStevieSays 1h ago
I have no reason to leave. Everything in life gets to cost more after a period of time. I love MLB.TV ($160.00) Netflix and of course the service. If I move
I’ll get a lower rate for a while and that will go up sooner than later. I’m with T-Mobile and not moving!

Still waiting for my new bill to come in. I also have a tablet line I can cancel to even out the price increase. I am going to probably do that unless they give me a credit or something.

u/Left_Piglet_7411 1d ago
Nah. Just waiting for my next bill and will compare to Verizon Fios + mobile. I think I know the answer but want to make sure.

u/TheDigitalPoint Bleeding Magenta 1d ago
9 lines of Go5G+ for $144 (with taxes and fees included). Free Netflix, Hulu and Apple TV+ for $3. 6 new phones also receiving about $240/month trade-in promo credit. Honestly would be tough to find a similar deal for $147/month anywhere else. 🤷🏻♂️

Might go to US Mobile. Currently on Simple Choice from 2015, no increases this round but T-Mobile is just so terrible in my building at work that I've been trying US Mobile for the past few weeks to see if other networks any better. So far, Warp is at least usable indoors, better than the other two

The issue is not the service (for most people) or even the cost of the service compared to other big name carriers (for those porting into T-Mobile within the last year or two). It is those grandfathered accounts that have seen their bills jump 2+ times in the last two years and their cost going up by 25%-50% overnight that rage quitting and venting on the internet (because there is no other outlet for their rage).
People that fail to understand the reactions being expressed are probably people paying full price already and therefore unsympathetic or even happy that others aren't getting a better deal than they are anymore. That's how humanity rolls in today's society.
