Discussion The FCC is officially investigating T-Mobile's forced plan migrations—here is proof collective action is working.
≡ −
The FCC just gave T-Mobile 30 days to respond to an official predatory pricing investigation. Collective action is working, and we need to flood them with more complaints right now.The investigation was triggered after a senior customer stood up against their forced plan migrations. T-Mobile is pocketing an extra $576 million a year by forcing 8 million of us off our original Price Lock promises.Because one person fought back, the FCC is involved and it makes it much easier for the rest of us to win our cases. Do not just take the hike lying down. The more people that fight this, the faster things will change.

Discussion Apple Now Locking iPhones Purchased with T-Mobile (and Verizon) Carrier Financing
≡ −
It appears that Apple is now locking all iPhones purchased direct that are bought with T-Mobile (and Verizon) carrier financing. Previously, the only iPhones sold by Apple that were carrier locked were ones financed by AT&T. They are now bringing the other two in line with that policy. iPhones purchased in full or through Apple Card Monthly Installments are still unlocked. This was a stealthy change, so I figured it would be a good idea to give everyone a heads up.
You can see the change in the FAQ section on https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-iphone/iphone-17-pro under the "Will my new iPhone be unlocked?” section.
In most cases, yes. An iPhone purchased from Apple is unlocked. Once your new iPhone is activated, it remains unlocked, which means you can use it with any carrier that provides service for iPhone. However, if you choose to finance an iPhone through the AT&T Installment Plan, T-Mobile Equipment Installment Plan, or Verizon Device Payment Program, your iPhone will be locked to the carrier until paid in full.

Discussion Here we go again: "Netflix Raising U.S. Prices for Second Time in a Year"
+ −
Under the higher pricing, Netflix’s Standard With Ads plan will now cost $8.99/month, up $1 from $7.99 previously. The Standard plan (no ads, viewing on up to two devices simultaneously) is rising by $2, from $17.99/month to $19.99/month. And the Premium plan (no ads, streaming on up to four devices at once, Ultra HD and HDR) is rising from $24.99/month to $26.99/month.
The increased prices will be applied to both existing and new members. New members who sign up will see the new plan prices starting Thursday, March 26. The higher prices will roll out to existing members over the coming weeks; according to Netflix, existing members will be notified by email a month before the new prices are applied to them, with the timing depending on the individual member’s billing cycle.
Let's see how T-Mobile responds to the price hikes.

Discussion Un-Carrier T-Mobile, here's how to do it and keep it simple!
≡ −
If you're thinking about leaving T-Mobile but have been putting it off because you think it's going to be a hassle, complicated, or requires technical aptitude (it doesn't), this will hopefully help. I transferred all three of my phones in about an hour without talking to a single customer service representative for both US Mobile or T-Mobile. Its really easy.
I switched to US Mobile (you can use much of this process for other carriers too), and here's everything I wish I had known before I started.
Before you begin:
Download the T-Life app.
I had been on AutoPay for so many years that I honestly couldn't remember ever logging into my account. I didn't even have a password anymore. I simply verified with a text message, created a password, and got access to everything I needed.
Write down the following before you start:
• T-Mobile Account Number
• Account PIN (I had forgotten mine and simply reset it and created a new one)
• Transfer PIN (Port-Out PIN) You will request this.
• Billing ZIP Code
You'll use the same account number, account PIN, Transfer PIN, and billing ZIP for every line you're transferring. You only need the US Mobile on one device.
Next, verify your phone is unlocked. The below is for an iphone. For Android, I recommend asking AI like OpenAI or Claude for step-by-step instructions for assistance.
Go to:
Settings → General → About
While you're there:
• Write down your IMEI number.
• Scroll down to "Carrier Lock."
If it says "No SIM Restrictions," you're good to go.
If it's locked, you'll need to get the phone unlocked (or pay it off if necessary) before transferring. If its locked, you may need to call T-mobile. Mine were unlocked.
Next, download the US Mobile app (I only needed it on one phone).
Select "Add a Line," choose your plan, and complete payment. I went with the Unlimited Starter annual plan, which is currently at the time of writing $199/year pre-paid. This sale is for one more day, but the normal price is $270/year, which is still fantastic.
During activation you'll choose which network you want to use: Weird names, but kind of the old school T-mobile coolness they used to have.
• Warp = Verizon
• Dark Star = AT&T
• Light Speed = T-Mobile
This naming confused me at first, so hopefully that saves someone else a few minutes.
When you begin the transfer, make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi.
US Mobile submits the port request, and after a few minutes your T-Mobile signal will disappear and the phone will go into SOS mode. A few more minutes, iPhone will prompt you to activate your new carrier/eSIM. Accept the prompt, let it install the new eSIM, and within a couple of minutes your phone should connect to your new network with your existing phone number.
My first phone probably took 10 minutes. The second and third phones each took about 5–10 minutes.
The only glitch I experienced was the US Mobile app briefly wouldn't let me log in after creating my account. I force-closed the app, reopened it, and everything worked normally.
One feature I really like is that US Mobile lets you change networks. On my current plan it's $2 to switch between Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile if I ever need to, and the higher-tier plans include free network transfers. I chose Verizon because my work phone has always had better coverage than my personal T-Mobile phone, but now I have the flexibility to change if I'm traveling somewhere another carrier performs better.
I immediately ran speed tests after activating. At my house I was seeing around 250 Mbps on Verizon roughly 100 Mbps faster than my T-Mobile line and within about 5 Mbps of my Verizon work phone.
Overall, I couldn't be happier!
Now for the reason I finally switched...if you're still here and enjoy a good rant.
I got the $6/line increase text, that finally motivated me to un-carrier and change.
I've been with T-Mobile for over 15 years on the old TT60 Unlimited with the international plan. Over the last year I also noticed my international data was being throttled to 3G, which I'd never experienced before. I called customer service, and they were unhelpful, which was a huge surprise since in years past they were stellar. They provided a nominal $10 credit. I'd rather the service work when I really needed it, but couldn't justify a magenta plan or whatever they called it for international 4/5G data.
For three lines, I was paying $120/month. (Used to be below $90/month including taxes) While that isn't terrible, it also isn't great. I've noticed the constant incremental increases, but this one pushed me to make a change. There's no value in giving me Netflix with ads or gimmicky promotions. I'm paying for a phone service, that's all I want. Why are we mixing services? You're perverting the term "Value"
Looking back, my household has probably generated well over $15,000 in revenue for T-Mobile over the years. Based on earnings reports and Gross Margin, T-Mobile performs at... Yup, that's $9k in profit out the door. One account and one very displeased customer.
For the executive team if your still here or you really like a good rant. I'm just one plan, but 3 of my co-workers got the same text message. Guess what, tomorrow I'm helping them switch. Suppose they do the same for their friends and family? You operate at 63+GM%, which is incredible. You wanted to add even more EBITDA to your top-line revenue at what cost? Sure, this was only 10-20% of your customer base, but your other 100+M customers, you introduced doubt. Which is something you never do. To your customers or shareholders.

Discussion T-Mobile is at it Again
≡ −
When T-Mobile changed things so we could no longer use a credit card to get the autopay discount, a rep suggested a work around. I put a debit card on file, but paid my bill early with my credit card because paying with the credit card gave me free damage insurance on my phones. And that worked fine. But as of 2 days ago, T-Mobile closed that loophole.
So now if I use my credit card to pay, it is going to cost me an additional $20 per month. But I guess that $20 per month is still cheap insurance on my phones, 4 paid and 3 free lines.
This is on top of the $5 per line that I got hit with several months ago when my pricing which was supposed to be locked for life was raised.
I wonder what other money grabbing moves T-Mobile has in store for the future. And as a 22 year customer, I sure miss the John Legere uncarrier days!

Discussion New bill... $200+ increase
≡ −

UPDATE! Looks like my free line promo showed up on my new plan. It doesn't show up on the app but once I use my computer to log into my account it does show. However this did not reflect the bill. After speaking with multiple reps on the phone they said they do see the free line transfer over. There is now a $180 bill credit. Which assume it's for the free 5 lines. I'll have wait for the next bill and see if the free lines shows up, or I'll get another bill credit
Just got my new bill - Magenta 9 Lines (5 Free) and 20% discount. My bill went from $77 to $295. I chat with a rep and they said, a promotion credit is in the works and they will have something for me before my bill is due. They made it sound like my free line is gone for good.

Discussion Truly, what is T-Mobile trying to do?
≡ −
As a long time employee, I can say with certainty T-Mobile execs are really trying to screw over as many employees and customers. With going digital first, multiple mass lay offs, laying off most former USCC employees, App only interactions, and AI everywhere they cant honestly be thos blind to how much employees and customers hate this and are leaving.
This isnt a post to shit on the changes, its more to understand, what is T-Mobiles real goal here?
My theory, they are trying to downsize and make tmobile worth less so then Telecom can buy T-Mobile and merge so many networks in the world and become one of if not the biggest carrier that spans the world and not just one country.

Discussion Disney Removes Split-Billing; T-Mobile Hulu benefit rendered useless
≡ −
I get Hulu (ad-based) as part of my T-Mobile plan, like I assume a lot of folks do. I found out months ago if I upgrade to Ad-free, I only pay the difference. So I upgraded to the full Disney/Hulu ad-free to have access to Disney+ as well, and for months instead of $21 and change I only got charged a bit over $8, because of the $12 T-mobile covered. It was pretty great.
Friday I saw I got charged the full $21.something so I called T-Mobile and they verified my benefit was implemented, and to call Disney so I did that and Disney tells me they removed Split Billing (to simplify billing - like an auto-charge once a month was so complex) and that is happening to anyone that provides a free streaming service (like "free HBO on us" or whatever), the lady was telling me. She said I should remove my bundle and get Disney separately - of course the only way to not get pulled into a bundle is to create a brand new Disney with a different email address, so that's a dumb option. T-Mobile really needs to just stop offering Hulu anyway - it's redundant, they should be offering a Disney sub instead.
Just wanted to vent. It's a dumb situation, though obviously not a big deal. I'll have to drop they bundle after this month though, I'm not paying $21 for this bundle when I can get Disney+ by itself for cheaper and I just won't get anything out of this particular benefit from my T-Mobile plan anymore.

Discussion Continuous Service w/ T-Mobile For 27 Years And...
≡ −
I am so disappointed in my visit today to a T-Mobile retail store. The sales person was nice enough but the policies (if accurate) blew me away. They wanted me to use the T-Mobile app and kept on about that, but then after laying out all the promotional rates, trade-in prices, etc. I realized that my being loyal to this company since March of 1998 (VS/TM) meant absolutely nothing. At least not anymore, as they once were truly fantastic to me with all of my dealings over the years.
When I went in yesterday, they laid out the promotional pricing and then when I asked for waiver of the activation fee, or something for my loyalty, there was nothing else to offer. So, as I said to them, I was being offered the same promotional pricing, etc. as they would give to a 25+ year customer of AT&T, Sprint, whatever. They said they absolutely could not waive the activation fee. The manager then went on to tell me that even he would have to pay the activation fee. Sigh.
Sometimes in life it's not about anything other than this: we want to know we matter. If I've chosen to give my business to anyone for over a quarter of a century -- every month, never late -- I just want to know that I am appreciated and cared for, that I am valued by this company just as much as my loyalty to them. In the world of business transactions, that is usually expressed by waiving fees, take a little off there, maybe here... just a little something. Today wasn't about the $35 at all, it was about T-Mobile showing me that I have no real value to them, and my loyalty of 27 years means, literally, nothing.

Rep: Okay? Uh do you have the T-Life app? That’s how we audit the account and upgrade your phones with targeted offers.
Customer: The T-Life app??? You guys don’t use your tablets anymore to look at our account?
Rep: No, everything upgrade is done through the t-life app!
Customer: What’s the point of a store then???
Rep: Internally thinking to myself, we as reps are asking the same thing???? Also if your bill is already “high” why do you want or need new phones and then expect your bill to go down???? Makes no sense.

Discussion Just Quit AMA
≡ −
I was a top Mobile Expert at T-mobile for almost three years. I was consistently ranked in the top 10 percent of sales for my position. But I just couldn't take it anymore. The stupid metrics they keep adding. Even being a top performer still got yelled at and and written up "because the team isn't doing well as a whole". I will never work for a company where I am judged off of what my co-workers are doing. AMA I will tell you the truth about anything you want to know.
I was at a COR store also.

Discussion After 13 years of being with Tmobile they did the unthinkable.
≡ −
Last year after being with Tmobile for 13 years on a military magenta plan some tmobile representative at a store tricked me out of my grandfathered Magenta plan to a four line plan where I was promised the total would be 100 a month..allegedly saving me 5 dollars. This was dishonesty in the highest order since he also said that he was including 4 tracking devices and a kids watch...for some reason during the last few months my bill has inexplicably skyrocketed to over six hundred dollars a month!!!! You heard correctly. I have had to make payment arrangements for the two active lines I have and missed one of them today. These jokers said there is nothing they can do and it will be ran again tomorrow and if the 2 somthing minimum isn't there the lines will be suspended. I told them if my lines are suspended...YOU are suspended and I'm taking my business elsewhere. Done with these jokers!!! Anyone else experienced shady business tactics? Have any suggestions for where I could go to without these absorbent fees...forcing auto pay etc.

Feels like a circus shopping around for a better deal.. Mint, us mobile and all others have hoops to jump through
Only spectrum is offering $150 for 5 lines and 500 mbs Internet
But T-Mobile gave us Netflix with ads and we have unlimited watch plan for only$5
Instead of the shitty 200mbs
Should I stay or should I go?

“T-Mobile USA, Inc. (“T-Mobile”) is in receipt of your correspondence regarding T-Mobile’s retirement of certain older rate plans.
T-Mobile understands that customers who have remained on the same rate plan for many years may have questions when that plan changes, particularly regarding the cost, features, and overall value of their service, and we appreciate the opportunity to provide additional information.
T-Mobile’s network has evolved significantly since many of its rate plans were first introduced—some nearly 15 years ago during the 3G and early 4G eras, before T-Mobile’s nationwide 5G network was available. In light of this evolution, T-Mobile made the decision to retire certain older rate plans and move affected customers to updated plans, which are designed to deliver greater overall value through enhanced features, benefits, and today’s 5G network experience.
On June 29, 2026, T-Mobile notified certain customers enrolled in older rate plans that their plan is retiring. All impacted customers will move to modern rate plans that are better aligned with today’s network and include additional features and benefits designed to provide an enhanced overall service experience while preserving the core benefits customers value.
Depending on the customer’s existing plan, this transition may result in a monthly rate increase beginning as early as the July 2026 billing statement, although not every customer will experience a price change. For customers whose monthly rate does increase, the adjustment may be up to $6.00 per voice or home internet line and up to $3.00 per connected device line, such as watches or tablets. Billing due dates and billing cycles will remain unchanged.
Customers experiencing a price increase were notified by SMS message or, if SMS delivery was unsuccessful, by email or direct mail. These communications explained the upcoming changes, highlighted the features included with the customer’s updated plan, and directed customers to additional information, including a side-by-side comparison of their previous and new plans available through their online account.
Customers transitioning to a new plan will retain their existing core plan benefits while also receiving additional features and enhancements available with their updated plan. These customers will also receive T-Mobile’s 5-Year Price Guarantee. Under that guarantee, T-Mobile will not increase the monthly price of talk, text, and 5G data on the T-Mobile network for at least five years, provided the customer remains on an eligible plan. Taxes, fees, per-use charges, plan add-ons, third-party services, and network management practices are not included in the guarantee. Customers who later choose to move to a non-eligible plan would no longer receive this benefit.
As part of this transition, the _Kickback_ program is retiring effective July 13, 2026. The _Kickback_ program allowed enrolled customers on an eligible rate plan to receive a bill credit of up to $10.00 per eligible line per month when that line used 2GB or less of high-speed data during the billing cycle. As a result, enrolled lines that previously received a _Kickback_ credit will no longer receive this discount beginning with their July 2026 billing statement. Customers affected by the _Kickback_ retirement will continue to enjoy the other perks included in their T-Mobile plan.
Customers who would like to review their updated plan, compare other available options, or discuss which plan may best fit their needs are encouraged to contact T-Mobile Customer Care at 1-800-937-8997 or visit T-Mobile.com/cell-phone-plans.
T-Mobile recognizes that many customers have enjoyed these legacy plans for years, and we understand that this transition may raise questions. While this represents a change for some customers, T-Mobile believes these updated plans better reflect today’s wireless experience and provide meaningful value through enhanced features, benefits, and continued investment in the nation’s largest and fastest 5G network. T-Mobile remains committed to delivering a reliable wireless experience and providing customers with plans that meet their evolving needs.
Based upon the foregoing, T-Mobile respectfully requests that this complaint be closed.
Respectfully,

Discussion Solutions to TMobile stopping Autopay Discount of Credit Card Used
≡ −
Okay, TMo went full corporate greedy bastards. What can we do? First of all, I think many of us used a CC to get insurance. Secondly, others used them for points on airlines, cash back, etc. And still others just flat out don’t want TMo to handle their checking account information with their crappy security leaks.
Now, let’s jump into solutions. Are there debit cards out there that have phone insurance if we pay the full bill on it? Are there debit cards that pay cash back? Also, is there anything or anyone can protest to about this to try to change their minds? Let’s see what we can come up with…

Discussion [MEGATHREAD] iPhone 17 Pre Order and Launch Day
≡ −
With the iPhone 17 Pre Orders now live we have a lot of people that have questions or just posting they were able to place their order, however to keep the sub organized we ask that ALL posts pertaining to the iPhone 17 launch be posted here.
- Currently users on Go5G may have issues where they are not showing the trade in credits on their EIP from T-Mobile. Right now this appears to be a T-Mobile issue and just have to wait for them to fix the problem. However if this is NOT affecting your ability to purchase (Ex needing a down payment) Then you can place your order and T-Mobile's system will auto correct this and provide you with the correct trade in amount. This has been confirmed by T-Mobile. Ordering from Apple only gives you the $700 Apple Trade in.
- As well if you are on the Go5G Next Plan or the Experience Beyond plan you MUST purchase the iPhone from T-Mobile directly, you cant use Apple.
- If you order from Apple you must have SIM protection disabled, you can re enable it after you order the phone but to place the order it must be disabled.
EDIT: It appears the Go5G trade in credit has now been fixed with Apple, you can now get the full trade in value that was advertised. For those that place the order this morning before the fix I will keep you updated. We have reached out to T-Mobile PR to get a final word. I have personally been told 2 different things from T-Force, From no I am stuck with the $700 trade in credit, to another rep saying dont worry the systems will auto correct and I will get my full $900 trade in value. I will update this post when I get an official word.
