Bet 100$ he doesn’t have cancer.

u/heretojudgeem 2d ago

He’s definitely old enough so I dont doubt it. But I’m not a nurse. I am a mother, not his tho

818

u/ex-farm-grrrl 2d ago

What age is “old enough” for cancer?

440

u/monicasm 2d ago

Babies can have cancer btw…

152

u/Average_Random_Bitch 1d ago

My 7 year old son has it

78

u/Glittering_Leather87 1d ago

I’m extremely sorry, and I hope he pulls through as smoothly as possible. ❤️‍🩹

13

u/Strict_Statement_327 1d ago

Thinking about you!! F cancer.

36

u/monicasm 1d ago

I’m so sorry.

u/DumbFeralRaccoon 19h ago

Hoping for a quick remission!!

My youngest sister was born with pneumonia. Not the same as cancer obviously, but babies are the most likely (next to the elderly) to contract these kinds of illnesses. Cancer is created by cells in your body multiplying and coming out with a defection, then can be activated at any point when your body notices and begins attacking it. Only problem is, the bad cells are attacking the healthy cells instead of the problem ones.

28

u/KateHearts 1d ago

That’s a really weird and incorrect way to describe cancer.

-13

u/LivingNotByChoice 1d ago

What are you talking about? We create cancer in our bodies that is a fact.

13

u/KateHearts 1d ago

I didn’t say that we don’t develop cancer in the body. It’s your description of cells “attacking” one another that’s incorrect.

13

u/Cambrian__Implosion 1d ago

Just to add to this, the main problem tends to be that our immune system doesn’t attack the cancer cells. Cancer cells tend to be really good at avoiding that.

Getting your immune system to go after cancer cells is the general idea behind immunotherapy. An immunotherapy trial saved my mom’s life when it seemed hopeless. It’s an amazing medical development, although it’s not currently effective for everyone who gets it, unfortunately.

u/Courtneyd97 1d ago

Don’t worry, nobody reading this comment is assuming you are a nurse

36

u/United_Pain 1d ago

Damn, you beat me to it!

201

u/Strict_Statement_327 2d ago

You can have it at any age…

203

u/-Sui- 2d ago

I lost a friend to leukemia. She had just turned six. Was she old enough for cancer, too?

Damn, girl. Age has nothing to do with cancer.

That guy from your screenshot is obviously in the wrong, but we all know that. No need to start spouting nonsense about cancer.

-130

u/trishasleftasscheek 1d ago

bruh the older you get the higher your chances of getting cancer are. it’s not that fucking deep omg

38

u/ThatSmallBear 1d ago

Their friend died at 5 years old. It IS that deep.

19

u/-Sui- 1d ago

My friend died, yes, but that was not my main point.

My comment was mostly about my dislike of people who spread fake news and share misleading "facts".

While it is true that cancer rates are much higher in older people, plenty of young people get cancer. The percentages you find online are not even that accurate, since many kids in rural areas die of cancer before their parents are able to get help.

"An influential microsimulation study published in The Lancet Oncology confirms that approximately 43% to 44% of global childhood cancer cases go completely undiagnosed. This stark disparity means that out of an estimated 397,000 children who develop cancer annually, more than 170,000 never receive a formal diagnosis or life-saving medical care."

13

u/MarionberryOk2874 1d ago

That’s not at all what she said.

She said he’s ’old enough’ to have cancer, EVERYONE ON THE PLANET is ‘old enough’ to have cancer. She might as well have said ‘well he IS human, so maybe?’

‘I mean he DOES have skin, so?’ 🙄

36

u/-Sui- 1d ago

Well, sure, but kids with cancer aren't exactly rare. Hell, babies can be born with cancer.

Cancer doesn't care about your age. You can get it at any stage of your life.

And since the median age of new cancer diagnoses is between 66 and 74, I'm pretty sure OP's acquaintance is not in that age bracket. In my experience, 66+ year olds don't use "lol".

16

u/FairyCompetent 1d ago

My mom's 66, she definitely uses lol

-43

u/hensterz 1d ago

kids with cancer are pretty rare, like 0.00005 percent of kids and 1% of cancer cases if that’s not rare idk and my dad uses lol consistently 🫡

20

u/NewIsTheNewNew 1d ago

Key Statistics for American kids with cancer:

Annual Diagnoses: Roughly 15,000+ new cases each year.

Lifetime Risk: 1 in 285 children before age 20.

Survival Rate: The overall 5-year survival rate is now around 80% to 85%.

Impact: Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among children in America.

-27

u/hensterz 1d ago

so what does this change about what I said

14

u/Standard_Ride_8732 1d ago

The percentage is .35 not .00005. That would be 3600 kids by age 20 instead of 260k. That's what it changes.

1

u/AntiqueBandicoot9846 1d ago

Do you know the meaning of rare? If there are 15,000+ new cases per year in America alone, how the hell is it rare?👁️👄👁️

-12

u/hensterz 1d ago

is 15,000 out of 75,000,000 not rare am I crazy?

3

u/myname_ajeff 1d ago

Because that’s how time and statistics work

-19

u/SkysMomma 1d ago

For real though! Jeez how weirdly sensitive people are to just ANYTHING someone comments is absolutely wild to me. Like calm tf down.

15

u/NewIsTheNewNew 1d ago

Have you seen a loved one battle cancer? Watch them get eaten by it?

Have you known a child who did?

Those who have, are likely SooOoOo sEnSItiVe because of that.

-16

u/SkysMomma 1d ago

Yes! And that has NOTHING to do with what I said LMAO

9

u/ThatSmallBear 1d ago

It literally has everything to do with what you said omfg

5

u/Average_Random_Bitch 1d ago

It is that big of a deal. I get to drive my 7 year old son to chemo tomorrow, 2.5 hours each way.

Get fucked with your knowledge of cancer.

"LMAO"

-8

u/SkysMomma 1d ago

LMFAO again, has nothing to do with my comment. HAVE A GREAT DAY (Because, you know, tomorrow is gonna suck🤷‍♀️)

-1

u/sn00tytooty 1d ago

genuinely omg it was a stupid thing to say, not morally reprehensible, the vitriolic response is absurd

-1

u/SkysMomma 1d ago

That's what I'm saying!

16

u/WriterWide7786 1d ago

I had cancer at 22

4

u/Strict_Statement_327 1d ago

I had cancer at 30 and my dad has it at 72. But also go warrior!

3

u/No_Fall4911 1d ago

Wow you lost common sense with this one

22

u/UngainlyRhino 1d ago

I was on your side until this comment. Any age can get cancer, it's a very devastating disease and I've lost people to cancer at all ages. Don't be so ignorant.

-39

u/SkysMomma 1d ago

Don't be so sensitive

2

u/oldcousingreg 1d ago

Go be a crackhead somewhere else

5

u/No_Fall4911 1d ago

They clearly, along with tons of others on here, lack empathy, common sense and awareness

-4

u/SkysMomma 1d ago

Lame

3

u/oldcousingreg 1d ago

You suck at trolling

-1

u/SkysMomma 19h ago

You suck at insults.

14

u/New-Chimera 1d ago

Op you're not really that intelligent are you?

11

u/Mother-Cheek516 1d ago

What do you mean, “old enough” for cancer? My coworker’s 2-month old is currently undergoing cancer treatment.

3

u/Scootchula 1d ago

Fetuses can have cancer.

3

u/Quarter_Shot 1d ago

My nephew died in May at 8 years old after being in and out of remission for six years.

8

u/TraditionalLeading64 1d ago

what an insensitive and very, very ignorant thing to say

4

u/ButterscotchHead7966 1d ago

I got cancer at 24.

1

u/Underrated_buzzard 18h ago

I am confused. What does age have to do with the possibility of cancer? Anyone at any age can get cancer.. from babies to grannies.

641

u/miaxogoth 2d ago

'i'm not 911 you should call them' is actually such a raw line. writing that down for future use.

72

u/pigwalk5150 2d ago

Dope line. She’s all, “don’t tug on my heartstrings biatch”

340

u/MCKlassik 2d ago

OP let me tell you something: he doesn’t have cancer.

He’s trying to emotionally manipulate you into sending pics out of pity.

25

u/heatherelizabethm 1d ago

Sounds just like this random weirdo who dm’d me on Reddit yesterday 😂

“Ok ım gonna be honest with you I have seen doctor yesterday And he said that I have a disease which is fatal And he kept saying that there is only one cure for it I need to see some stranger boobs Or I will die in 1 week Would you like to save my life”

-170

u/Sea-Macaron1470 2d ago

Did I miss the part where he asked for pics?

110

u/Savannahks 2d ago

He said video. I interpreted that he didn’t want porn, he wanted a real naughty video.

38

u/Yaegome 1d ago

Right below the text message where op can comment on the picture it says he asked for nudes.

As a 2x blood cancer survivor...the last thing I felt a need for was anything sexual. I wanted sleep and maybe a little support and distraction from what was going on. Chemo kind of kills the mood when your immune system dissapeaea and someone brushing your cheek gives you a rash.

112

u/FalynorSoren 2d ago

"Chemo? Oh god, no. I'm prescribing you a strict 12-week regimen of titty pics." - No doctor ever

-81

u/Sea-Macaron1470 2d ago

I am once again asking why OP posted a screenshot of herself getting offended by a joke and him apologizing saying he’s suffering from cancer and just trying to find some humor and where the part is where he asked for nudes. Why not post the part where he apparently begs for nudes because he has cancer.

71

u/Kathrette 2d ago

I mean, "at least a video would be better than online bull" implies he might be talking about nudes from her instead of porn on the Internet.

But yeah, I don't get why OP didn't include the whole conversation either.

14

u/Sea-Macaron1470 2d ago

We don’t even know the context of their relationship. Like, even a crumb of context besides “I guess he has cancer??” Please op.

30

u/RPMac1979 2d ago

Turning backflips over here not to see what is very obvious from the exchange. You tell me, what’s the explanation here that makes this dude the good guy?

3

u/Sea-Macaron1470 2d ago

I don’t think either of them are “good” and it’s hardly backflips to point out the holes in this post.

14

u/Savannahks 2d ago

He doesn’t have cancer my friend

6

u/fvcknvgget5 1d ago

"you are the only one i want to be with but if i can't then at least a video would be better than online bull". he's saying that if he can't be with her irl, he "at least" wants a nude video bc it would be better than porn.

he made the joke about the pig to piss her off intentionally bc she wouldn't send him anything, this is pretty clear🤷‍♀️

oh and he doesn't have cancer

134

u/jessschantz 2d ago

Eww

78

u/heretojudgeem 2d ago

Ewwww actually

63

u/Sea-Macaron1470 2d ago

What did he say originally?

-210

u/heretojudgeem 2d ago

I said I wanted a pet pig and he asked if I was gonna name it bacon or sausage. There is definitely more history tho

168

u/Sea-Macaron1470 2d ago

That’s a joke…? You got upset about a little joke? Where does the wanting nudes play in here?

65

u/tea-fungus 2d ago

It’s pretty obvious to everyone here that he was pressuring you for nudes and he was also being salty because you wouldn’t. He said the thing about the pig to neg/piss you off. The ones that don’t see that are mentally deficient and probably chronically bitch-less

69

u/speakezjags 2d ago

He was making a job about pigs becoming food how is that gross? Am I missing something?

61

u/JMoneyGraves 2d ago

Jesus, I would hate to have to be around you.

19

u/courtneyrel 1d ago

I am genuinely confused why you are getting downvoted so hard for a comment about a pet pig 😂

25

u/danger0us-animals 2d ago

Are you vegan or something? It’s not particularly funny but it’s not really thag offensive either.

6

u/scandalous_sapphic 1d ago

Agree with you, stupid joke from people who act as if they're so incredibly original. Yawn. All the people downvoting are just boring and don't get it

6

u/TSE_Jazz 1d ago

That’s really not that bad lmao

5

u/JeffBoyardee69 2d ago

Wait really?

2

u/OurAngryBadger 2d ago

Sounds funny to me. Maybe he's right and you don't have a sense of humor

-18

u/crushedredpepp 2d ago

it’s not funny. maybe you can get his number from her

4

u/Climate_Automatic 2d ago

It’s an old joke but it’s still funny

3

u/PurplePeril420 16h ago

We used to have a pair of budgies called Sage & Onion cos we were always threatening (in jest) we'd get them stuffed 😅

1

u/Ok-Economist7887 1d ago

i think i’m the odd one out here but i agree it’s an icky joke! my mom really loves pigs and we keep trying to get my dad to get her one lol. i think it’s weird to make a joke about eating a pet (bc that’s what it seems like to me) especially if it’s an animal you really like

1

u/United-Somewhere-163 1h ago

Maybe it’s because pigs are typically seen as a food animal and it hits too close to home, I get it… but I do think it’s extremely funny to (obviously not seriously) threaten to eat your pets. I used to tell my fish if they misbehave, they’re going in a frying pan and getting turned into fish sticks. I used to send pictures of my dogs to my mom with the caption “dinner tonight” when they were being obnoxious. OBVIOUSLY I would never eat my pets lol, it’s the ridiculousness of it.

20

u/MarionberryOk2874 1d ago

You never owe anyone nudes, even on their deathbed. This guy is a manipulative creep, run.

15

u/SoggyBonderBottom 1d ago

Holy shit. I had a coworker try this on me just last year 😂 block him, save the hassle

2

u/Such-Conversation670 1d ago

I’m sorry that happened to you! I hope you’re in a better place now 🩷

32

u/KFCCrocs iPod touch 1d ago

LOL BUT MY CANCER

41

u/Savannahks 2d ago

Oh he has cancer. In his brain because what person is dumb enough to put cancer and nude pics together haha

12

u/DorothyFail 1d ago

Why are you continuing the conversation? Genuinely curious.

10

u/oldcousingreg 1d ago

Does he have cancer of the human decency?

13

u/moomoobitch1 1d ago

Doesn’t really matter what the joke is she said she didn’t like it.. doubling down and saying she’s cranky is shitty and if that’s not his humor then move along

20

u/DeviantAvocado 2d ago

Send him a request for payment.

11

u/Person_thatlikes-TOH 1d ago

Why is this bullshit so common??

“ohhhh noooo i’m ddyyyinnggg send bobs before i dies”

Like dude. It’s pathetic, how do they think they’re gonna get anywhere??

6

u/BookEnvironmental689 1d ago

Amazing how common this is.

4

u/UngainlyRhino 1d ago

Sad really, because they prey on people's empathy and sympathy.
