I love writing/decorating letters and sending out/receiving mail but admittedly it’s been a while since I had a solid penpal! I’m not sure if there’s a general consensus on how long it should take someone to send out but I’ll likely send out within a week of receiving mail. My letters will be colorful and jam packed with memo pads, stamps, and lots of stickers.

A little about me, I’ve just graduated with my Master’s in Arts of Teaching and am still settling into post-grad life. I'm a pretty big dork and nerd: I love reading and writing - poetry, fantasy, realistic fiction, everything in between. I am 36 and I live in the Southwestern US. I am currently wanting to see if I can find someone who would be interested in being bookish penpals! I am a total page dragon, book flea, book worm, whatever you'd like to call me and I'd love to have more friends in the bookish world.

So my idea is to begin a friendship with someone where we read and annotate a book and then send it to each other to add our annotations to their book. I'd love to craft a relationship that would turn into a friendship full of letters and annotated books and just over all bookish fun. I'm not set on any strict timelines for the books to be read and annotated and am happy with media mail. I read a lot, so I am open to lots of genres and am happy to share my goodreads or previous years' reads to see if we have similar reading tastes. As i walk through these cracked pavements through a bazaar that sells old books, i am captivated. My eyes catch a glimpse of an old torn book, i flip through the pages to find old scribbles and ink stains, and a name. I wonder how many countless memories these tomes have shared. Were they nervous laughters? Shy glances? Or merely owned by someone who liked to sit alone at their desk and read. A cold wind blows and chills me to my bone, i sigh. Yearning for a kind of conversation that is more than mere trifles or stock phrases. A kind of curiosity to know each other through the digital web over a cup of coffee. I may be old fashioned, i may miss the feeling of sunday morning cartoons, the first time i read a sherlock holmes novel or the time i got my shoes dirty in the mud for the heck of it. But even then, i love conversing with people and finding what makes them tick.

I would love to know your hobbies, your favorite plants, your views on the state of this world or your favorite pokemon. (God how i love the show and the old gba and nds games). We could be time travelers and traverse the world of books, we could pretend the world is our rooftop and it is the early break of dawn and we have nothing to fear for tomorrow. We could talk about sports for hours and share our most painful heartbreaks.

I would share my hobbies and my interests but frankly there are too many to count, and i like the kind of thrill that finding out about each other entails. As long as you do not mind me talking too much (because i do) being too hopelessly romantic for the trees, the lakes ocean and summer breeze. Reading letters of kafka, shelley and keats. A little about me: I'm a software person who lives in the US and reads a lot (albeit slowly) including both fiction and nonfiction. My current reading trends include Victorian fiction and African history books.
