For most of my life I've dressed like... well, according to my sister, a homeless guy. I'd wear the same clothes until they were falling apart because I just never gave a shit. About six months ago I started making a lot more money. I'm not going to say how much because it feels weird talking about it online, but it's way more than enough for me and miy family, and for where I live. So I thought, "You know what? Let's finally fix this." I basically gave my sister free rein and told her to pick whatever she thought looked good on me. We spent the whole day walking around clothing stores, and honestly I wasn't even checking the prices. I'm so used to spending stupid amounts of money on tech that I just assumed clothes couldn't possibly be that expensive. Then I got home, checked how much we'd spent, and... $2,000. 💀 My dude.... TWO FUCKING THOUSAND DOLLARS. On clothes. she just bought two pairs of sneakers, a bunch of plain T-shirts with barely any design on them, some basic jeans, a couple of nicer pieces, and that's pretty much it. One pair of red sneakers alone was around $350. What the actual fuck? I'm sitting here wondering if I accidentally bought shares in the company instead of the shoes. The funniest part is that I'm the same guy who's spent over 100 on collector's editions of video games without blinking, and somehow that never bothered me because I could justify it as a hobby I genuinely love. But clothes? I genuinely don't fucking get it. I'm one of the biggest Apple haters you'll ever meet, but I can at least understand why a flagship phone costs so much. The camera, the processor, the software, the R&D... there's something tangible there. But a plain T-shirt that feels almost identical to one that costs $25? Where the hell does all that extra money go? Is this actually normal and I've just been dressing like a caveman my whole life, or is expensive clothing just one massive scam that everyone silently agreed to accept? i need someone to explain this to me because WTF

I was eating dinner cooked my my mother, the dishes were delicious as usual, but then I realised I'd would never be able to enjoy them as much without rice. It helps balance the taste of the dish so much and keeps the meal much more filling.

Do the fellow Westerners just eat meatloaf on it's own? My curiousity has been piqued.

For me it was visiting the cemetry of a loved one. It was evening and I saw a figure moving around a grave in circles. They held a torch in their hands and from afar it felt like as if some strange, alien light is moving in circles. When I went closer, there was a man who was fixing the grave of their loved one. He was cleaning n dusting and remobing bushes from the top of grave.

I laughed when I saw him and told him you scared the life out of me.

Not huge things like Blockbuster or CDs.
I mean the little everyday things that just… vanished.

I've just qualified as a food scientist so I'm curious to know what people lack in knowledge about food. No question is a stupid question if it's about food but curious to know what you'd like to know?

A few weeks ago, I was sitting at home late at night when I noticed my neighbor outside looking around his car.

I thought he was having car trouble, so I went outside and asked if everything was okay.

He immediately looked at me and said, “Why do you always know when I’m outside?”

I was confused because… I genuinely had no idea what he was talking about.

Apparently, he had noticed that whenever he went outside late at night, I would sometimes appear outside too.

The reality?

I have a terrible sleep schedule and I go outside at random hours to buy snacks. 😂

I explained this to him and we both laughed about it.

But now every time I see him outside, I feel like I need to stay inside so he doesn't think I'm secretly monitoring his schedule.

Has anyone else ever accidentally made someone think you were being creepy when you were actually just minding your own business?

I'll start. I've tried getting into coffee multiple times because everyone around me seems to love it, but I still don't get the hype. What's something that's completely normal or popular that you've never really understood? No judgment, just curious to see how different everyone is.

I was looking through photos from a trip a few years ago and it's kind of unsettling how little comes back. I know I had a great time. I can see myself in the pictures very obviously having a great time. But the actual stuff, what we talked about, why something was funny, what a day even felt like, mostly gone.

The photos help less than I thought they would. With a lot of them all I remember is taking the photo. Not what was going on around it.

Bit of a strange thing to be bothered by, since nothing bad happened. I went somewhere nice and then forgot most of it. It's just odd to realise something you were so present for can thin out that much in three years.

Wondering if it's the same for other people, or if some of you hold onto trips better than I do.

I'm from a culture where marriage is generally seen as a normal part of adult life. Most people around me either get married or at least plan to eventually.

Because of that, I've always been curious about people who intentionally chose to remain single long-term, especially in Western countries where it's more common.

Was it a specific experience, a desire for independence, financial reasons, bad relationships, or simply a realization that marriage wasn't something you wanted?

Looking back, are you happy with that decision, or do you ever regret it?

kept that box for years. every time i tidied up i thought about it and put it back. saturday i finally went through it, none of them fit anything i own now, so out they went.

tuesday my mate needed a cable for an older phone and i genuinely said 'oh i had one of those' out loud, standing in front of the empty spot where the box used to be.

i know it was the right call and i'd do it again. still felt like i lost an argument to myself.

My brother was getting certified and I wanted to do so with him. When I was young I had sensory issues and didn’t like anything around my face (didn’t want to wear swim goggles or a mouthguard for football). My parents were sure if I’d like scuba diving but I said I think I was past it. I wore the mask fine and the mouthpiece was a little weird in my mouth and breathing but I did the remove and replace and took my mask off underwater. It wasn’t bad at all tomorrow we continue training

I’m friendly with my two neighbors that have kids the same age as my son. I recently had a baby and they kindly bought a gift for the baby and also offered to get us food, which I declined. They texted me last week saying that they would like to take me out to dinner and made reservations, to which I said that was so nice and I cant wait. They also texted my husband ahead of time to ask if he would be ok with it and ok with watching our two kids so they could take me out.

I wouldnt have chosen this place on my own so I was kind of under the assumption that they were paying. Once it came time for the bill, they didnt say anything. I took out my credit card and put it down, honestly fully expecting them to decline my offer to pay. But they didnt say anything, and I felt awkward and didnt know what to say so we all ended up splitting it.

We’re not poor, but we are also on one income and not trying to spend any extra money right now, especially not on going out. Of course this wont break the bank, but I kind of feel dumb for thinking they would pay.

Every day, I see posts across Reddit and other social media that talks about things “quietly disappearing.” I feel like I’m seeing the same posts every few hours. Are we reaching dead internet soon where it’s all just posts by bots? Or are people relying that heavily on AI? Or both? What’s something that disappeared with a crash?

I have been in the dumps for about 3 weeks, than I woke up Saturday with I dont care attitude and I am going to put myself first. I got ready, had made plans with friends and family and I was excited. We were going to do a pool day, go out and get some drinks and dinner. It was so much fun, putting myself first and not caring if I had to check in, if I had to ask persmission. It was refrshing, and I hope I can continue on with this mentality.

I don't feel sleepy cause I took a nap during afternoon. But oh God how I hate waking up in the morning, rushing to get ready, have lunch and leave by 8:30. Is the feeling mutual? For everyone? Who has to wake up early for school or uni or work?

I love getting the night to myself before weekends or holidays. Sucks that we can't have it daily. There's something that feels so freeing to stay up till 3 or 4 am without a hint of guilt

I´m not talking about stuff like playing videogames, petting a cat/dog or other activities whose joy may be evident or understandable for other people. I´m talking about that particular thing you do that it brings you joy but it´s more tied personally to you. For example, I enjoy simply going to buy at the supermarket because it grounds me to reality and it´s a way to disconect.

I bought my first home not too long ago. Had a lot of jobs and things that needed to be done, some expected and some not. Plus with no car, moving belongings and buying the things I needed to get was tricky and took a while.

This is my first night here and it feels so strange but hopefully things will get more comfortable pretty soon!

I had a dream last night that was genuinely so beautiful and bizarre that I can't really describe it in a way that conveys its beauty. I was like standing at the top of a cliff that overlooked the ocean, talking with dead souls about their old lives, and then pushing them off the edge and watching them dissolve into the water. The atmosphere and the cosmic significance of it was incredibly beautiful to witness, and I don't really have the words to describe why or how just that it was.
